Travel › Re: Life In Germany: What Is It Like For Nigerians Who Migrated? by damzy88: 5:49pm On Oct 27, 2021 |
sosowater: There's nobody that I know (in Germany) that's is not doing well. I know 3 people and they're doing perfectly fine.
You don't expect someone that went there through an illegal route to be doing well because he won't have the papers to hustle.
You don't expect someone that could not tell the in demand skills or knowledge and go for it, to be doing well.
You don't expect someone that is doing menial jobs, paying bills and other things to be sending money to you in Nigeria because they don't pick money overseas. He has a family to take care of too so stop being a burden to him.
You don't exprct someone that went there and got carried away with the enjoyment - good system, freedom and quality of life to make money, save more and invest.
There are people making millions and yet they can't account for it but there are people making thousands and they have investments, no debts, and are living comfortably.
Every mallam with him own kettle.
If you want to go over there, just ensure that you're going through the right route and then go for skills/education that are in demand. Abtoad isn't Nigeria. Most technical skills, health related professions and handworks pay more because their citizens don't stress themselves with such. They (majority) prefer easy jobs like customer service, office admin, supply chain management, bank teller, restaurant manager, HR, executive assistant, business administration, etc. So, don't expect to get such jobs when there are many locals to do them. Racism aside, employers will prefer locals to do that over you.
Again, try to call your friend in Germany from Nigeria and see how much you'll be charged just for a minute call.
My brother, in abroad, a cent is valued. No money is small over there. If you're not financially disciplined, you won't have anything to show for your many years of working and living there.
Most of those people abroad live average life, which is quality too. They earn well, eat well, have good healthcare and enjoy a working system. The key thing is to make enough money in hard currency and do great things in Nigeria, which makes you a rich man in Nigeria.
Also, if you're planning to go and stay with your friend over there, be ready to have your own cash cos he won't be paying house rent, water bills, internet and electricity bills for you. You guys will be sharing it.
There's gold in Germany and some good countries too but know what you're going there for. Don't go there with the mindset of just doing small jobs that will pay you €8 or 12 euros per hour because it seems a big money when converted to naira. Have a skill or go for an indemand skill or course that will set you up for life.
Remember, make the money there, save and invest. You have said it all. |

pansophist: For me, it is not about material (financial) brokenness but the mental one. Poor people have a predatory mindset developed over a sustained period of scarcity. Any sign of abundance (e.g, rich boyfriend) is seen as a fleeting resource to exploit, ransack and parasite from. Their personal responsibility will be projected to the other party and made to feel guilty if he refuses to accept such conditions in a relationship. Their family problem becomes yours to carry with pressure coming from different angles like sharp bullet forcing you to comply.
Poor people usually do not understand the concept of a mutual relationship, its all about what they will benefit only. Ultimately, the difference between the rich and the poor is their mindset. A rich person going for a broke woman is like throwing foods to hungry fish, you will be devoured. While the smart one realizes to leave poor people alone and let them date each other, seems they understand themselves better. Different mindset. |

CountVersailles: Many graduates coming from Nigeria usually underestimate the amount of work it takes to do graduate school in developed countries like Canada and the US. Contrary to what most people think, graduate school in these countries is actually very difficult. Usually there is a lot of assignments and homeworks, and this is not something the Nigerian student is used to. Besides, most of the concepts are not discussed at a high-level, but usually a more detailed often difficult low-level filled with maths (for STEM) or lots of readings (for Management). This can be a very big problem for the Nigerian student who isn't used to this method of study. But the good news is that if you do not give up, you will succeed. It may appear difficult, but if you put in the required effort, ask for help from your professors or from fellow students, you will eventually understand. My advice to you is to dig deep within you and find that extra effort to succeed. Don't give up. Having a kid is not an excuse. There have been many people like you who made it eventually through graduate school. You just need to tell yourself that you can do it. I agree. I was humbled when I started graduate school here. Lol... |

Kudos to the husband for standing his ground.
If her brother cannot afford 400k to pay for his own marriage list, he should kuku remain single. This thing is not by force.
A piece of advise to young men: If you have struggled to save up 400k on your own, don't go and use it to do marriage I beg you. Take am go buy keke and give someone who will be paying you weekly returns, or look for something legit to invest in. The idea is to make that money back...

Career › Re: What You Should Know About Some Interviews by damzy88: 7:08pm On Jun 16, 2021 |
KazikageSama: Sometime ago I applied for a role at a very popular multinational. I prepared hard for it like my life depended on it (cos it was my dream company). I had 3 levels of interview including working on a project and making presentations to someone who'd be my Manager and a colleague. The feedback from my sessions were very encouraging that I was already preparing to have a contract negotiation.
Then I didn't hear from the coy for a long time, I did multiple reminders to the internal recruiter but most went unanswered until after a month, she responded that although my performance was good and my experience was impressive but they have decided to go with an "Internal solution". What the heck is "Internal solution"? I later learnt that the entire interview process was a facade. The recruiter and managers already agreed to fix another employee into the role but for sake of audit and crossing all Ts, they decided to interview external candidates for the same role but regardless of our performance, we didn't stand a chance. It was just feigned transparency. This is so common. It happens in the developed countries as well. That's why they tell you networking is key. Sorry about that. I have experienced it as well.
I imagine how many candidates get called up for interviews, they prepare with everything they've got, have sleepless nights to brush themselves up, put on their best appearance and abandon all the other serious things they could have done because they believe their prayers have been answered. Unfortunately when the feedback is sent and they are rejected. They'd beat themselves up, feel depressed and think they aren't good enough. Little do they know that they never really stood a chance. They were just a dot on the I and a cross on the T |

NaijaCanadian28: The average tuition for international students in RPN programs in my province is 40k for the whole program. BSN may be higher. Personally, I believe there’s hardly anything that is impossible. Sometimes we just don’t have access to the right resources. I don’t have any information about scholarships but if you can put in the work and research, you may get some insight. There’s also the option of after degree nursing program but you have to finish your current degree to qualify. I know a Nigerian lady that got an offer in a similar program in Trent University (she studied Microbiology in a Nigerian Uni before moving to Canada). Again, these programs are not cheap, I have never come across an affordable Nursing program. Sent you a pm. Thanks |

IamNumeroUno: Not everyone will make it in life, no matter how hard they try and that's the unfortunate reality.
Society is in strata, people must exist in all echelons of society. That's why we have the rulers and the ruled, the monarchs and the subjects.
Some people are deliberately stepped down to be able to fit into the category of subjects.
When a king dies, highly ranked member of the kingdom would take the crown, not for himself, no! He would pick the rightful heir to the throne, who probably is less qualified than the man holding the crown. The elder or elder statesman would place the crown on the head of the heir to the throne, step a few feet backwards and bow or bend a knee in total submission and loyalty to someone he had just crowned king.
Don't let people push you become a square peg in a round hole. Life goes way beyond amassing wealth and material things. As long as you are not in debts and can cater to your immediate needs, be happy, always.
People like the Op will always be here to make others lose their self esteem and become depressed. He might be lying in the bed during working hours, while writing this. Don't be fooled. Thanks |

Sailor1: Let me adress this...
It's seems you're very new in this market... I have said it multiple times, the last proper correction betece had was the selloff from 12.4k to 10k in August... All we've been having since are pullbacks... When we have a proper correction, you go know...
I have traded this market in a bear run, I was live around the March crash. A 15 - 20% betece pullback is another day here... We'd sure have multiples of that...
Secondly, the mistake most new folls make is that they keep looking for 'prophecies' rather that develop a profitable trading partnern and good risk management... I have been in this market long enough to telk you that no one can say exactly what betece will do in the immediate future... We use charts to help identify actionable trades and lock-in profits. The best traders I know are wrong on almost half of their trades... There's lots more to active trading than you think
You fail to understand
Thirdly, the reason why I'm more active recently is cos were in a bullrun.. it's now the money will be made.. Even if betece crashes to 40k, I'd still be in huge profits... For some folks, the concern is how much more profit theyd maje tgis run and not if they'd be in profit or not.
There are times I take trades just a few times in a month and forget it there for almost 6 months... Sometimes, all I do is buy so I can selk some months later... I trade more actively now cos tge market is getting more volatile.
Also, know that trading timeframes differ. Someone who bought betece at 6k is not bothered about what betece is doing now...
Rather than get salty, why not outline a profitable trading strategy (long or short term) which you have used and found helpful so we can all learn Brilliant. |
