Both of you should know that 2 years is a long time..

Also Netflix could sign deals with other movie production houses and get new IP.

See cobra kai for instance.

Two years is a long time indeed, but Disney+ has number of things going for it.

(i)The PG-13 trap: PG-13 is mainstream. Increasing the potential size of the audience increases the potential profit.

(ii) The Peter Pan syndrome: PG-13 allows the Disney to execute a marketing strategy called the Peter Pan Syndrome.

(iii) Huge movie, TV series, animations catalogue.

Disney+ will hurt Netflix for sure. To remain competitive, Netflix should refocus on original content under its own umbrella and make more R-rated content.

Netflix just announced they are releasing an original movie each week for the next 12 months so they are investing serious money but they keep increasing their sub prices, Disney+ on the other hand launched as a premium service and they have quite a number of originals planned for the next five year plus they have a large catalogue spanning more than 40 years, so these two are going to be the "Giants" going forward... Don't even think HBO Max have enough originals to match these two, expect movies exclusively release to them once in a while by Warner Bros... their mate is Appletv for now i think.

Spot on.

By then, all the Biggies of HBOMax must have arrived in full force.... I don't need to think hard about the Streamer I'll adopt. It's got the biggest and most important Franchises to ME. tongue tongue

House of The Dragon
The Last Of Us
Justice League Dark
Green Lantern Corps
Lovecraft Country

I ain't joking with these franchises. The one's from Netflix and chill looks weak as_s in comparison to these. grin
The Witcher and Last Airbender ain't enough. grin

HBO max is not gaining subscribers as initially projected. Right now, the AT&T owned streaming service is outside of the top 10 list of world notable streaming services.

Disney+ looks poised to overtake Netflix in 2/3 years.

"The Hunt aka Jagten" (2012).

Don't think i have seen a bad Mads Mikkelsen movie and this didn't disappoint, after seeing "Another Round" (2020) last week, i remembered i had this in the archive.

It tells a story of a kindergarten teacher in a closely knit Danish community accused of sexual abuse, it gets even more complicated and believeble because the allegation was made by a child, and there's a notion that "children don't lie", Mads Mikkelsen character was swiftly ostracized and stripped of everything he holds dear, even when he was absolved of the crime, the final act shows that you're never really "absolved" or "free" after an accusation of sexual abuse, false or not...that stain lasts forever.

A masterpiece 9/10.

Sad. If I were the man, I'd move away with my family, because the inevitable is going to happen one day... someone is going to take a potshot at him, and this time, won't miss.

It is more drama than comedy given the realistic and tragic lives that wealthy families with an abusive patriarch, live.

Sure, are there comedic parts? Yeah but it is very realistic and serious.

Realistic recurring themes
-Romans depraved sex life and assholery resulting from abuse at an early age.

-Roy's controlling and abusive nature that has damaged his wives and children. It has also seeded into his business where there were cover ups of sexual harassment by uncle Mo the Mo-lester.

-Kendall's drug addiction as a result of his fathers controlling nature.

C'mon! Even when it gets "serious", Succession is hilarious.

I can't decide if you're playing the devils advocate or you genuinely put stock in what you submitted here. It doesn't make much difference anyway, because you're clearly off-base.

The points you put forward are part and parcel of the satirical content of the Succession. One of Succession’s strengths is its total commitment to showing how dreadful and insecure the Roys are. In a serious representation, The Roys would have redeeming qualities vying for supremacy with their despicable qualities. There are no redeeming qualities in Succession, but entitled & morally decadent dysfunctional family grasping for opportunities to get one over on each other.

If you still have doubts, surely the camera used in shooting the show would persuade you? It's a shaky, handheld over-the-shoulder view of a character's face notably utilized in comedies like Veep, The Thick of It, The Office, and Park & Rec. It usually involves zooming in and out on character's expressions as they abuse each other, and plot to do over their rivals.

Still not convinced? What about the show's creator and writer, Jesse Armstrong, known for co-penning satire heavyweights like Veep, The Thick of It, Peep show, and by and large known to write satires for dramatic presentations? Jesse Armstrong's forte is satire, it's what he excels at. His style is distinct, and Succession is overflowing with his brilliance.

Still a drama.

(i) A comedy is a dramatic exaggeration of real life situations for humorous purpose. It's satirical in tone.

(ii) A drama is a serious representations that portray realistic characters to mirror real life situations.

Between the two definitions, I would say Succession has more in common with (i) than it does (ii), thus without further ado, I would surmise that Succession is a black comedy drama. Its appeal lies in its satirical tone.

This Is the End (2013)...9/10

Low brow humour, corny, cheesy and non existent plot, but for the life of me, I couldn't stop chortling until the closing credits. Great comedic cast and cameos, very quotable dialogue, this film is a perfect example of a film that's so bad, it's actually good.

Genre is drama. Check imdb,rottentomatoes

At the core, it's essentially the concept of Veep (a political satire) applied to the business world rather than politics, but darker and more warped. It's a black comedy slash satire pretending to be a drama.

The core jupiter is hotter than Earth.

Unlike Earth, whose temperature varies as one moves closer to or farther from the equator, Jupiter's temperature depends more on height above the surface. This is because heat is driven not by the sun but by the interior of the planet.

Every planet is hot at the core, including Earth. In fact, Core Jupiter is hotter than the Sun, but we're not talking about the core. Surface Jupiter is -170°c or thereabouts. It's extremely cold.

after the sun, space continue. Sun is not the only star in our galaxy
There are many stars with many planets orbiting them (exoplanets). And there are billions of galaxies in far space

Nah.

The Sun is the center of our solar system, making it the innermost core of our system. If you go past the Sun, the next planetary object you'll encounter is Mercury, then Venus, Earth and so on.

Jupiter doesn't support life. No oxygen there and it's extremely hot

Jupiter is a gas giant, meaning it doesn't have hard surface like earth, is mostly composed of helium and hydrogen. Furthermore, it's exponentially farther from the sun than Earth, putting its surface temperature in the sub zero category. Contextually, one of its moon (Europa) is perpetually covered in ice.

Great performance nonetheless from the cast. Great cinematography.

Second paragraph bolded...Fully got this but if the novel was a metaphor for revenge, why then did Tony (Edward) die?
Gyllenhaal dying in the novel symbolizes him finding closure. In all likelihood, he didn't really find closure in reality, but him standing her up is a sorta existential revenge, since he effectively took away Amy's chance of finding happiness (with him) again.

oyaskii:

Third bolded paragraph...I think this was the only part I would say they got right but it was abrupt af, i adjusted my chair to say finally "lets go" only for me to see end credits.
Lol, it does take time to process, to unpack and appreciate.

oyaskii:

Fourth paragraph..It's very very far from been a masterpiece. It's the writing i have a problem with, the acting, directing and sound editing where ok.

The writing is convoluted and a tad pretentious, but brilliant nonetheless. In it's core, it deals with forces that humanizes, dehumanizes us, erodes and heals us.
