AbdulSleeky: Two years is a long time indeed, but Disney+ has number of things going for it. (i)The PG-13 trap: PG-13 is mainstream. Increasing the potential size of the audience increases the potential profit. (ii) The Peter Pan syndrome: PG-13 allows the Disney to execute a marketing strategy called the Peter Pan Syndrome. (iii) Huge movie, TV series, animations catalogue. Disney+ will hurt Netflix for sure. To remain competitive, Netflix should refocus on original content under its own umbrella and make more R-rated content. |

AbdulSleeky: C'mon! Even when it gets "serious", Succession is hilarious. I can't decide if you're playing the devils advocate or you genuinely put stock in what you submitted here. It doesn't make much difference anyway, because you're clearly off-base. The points you put forward are part and parcel of the satirical content of the Succession. One of Succession’s strengths is its total commitment to showing how dreadful and insecure the Roys are. In a serious representation, The Roys would have redeeming qualities vying for supremacy with their despicable qualities. There are no redeeming qualities in Succession, but entitled & morally decadent dysfunctional family grasping for opportunities to get one over on each other. If you still have doubts, surely the camera used in shooting the show would persuade you? It's a shaky, handheld over-the-shoulder view of a character's face notably utilized in comedies like Veep, The Thick of It, The Office, and Park & Rec. It usually involves zooming in and out on character's expressions as they abuse each other, and plot to do over their rivals. Still not convinced? What about the show's creator and writer, Jesse Armstrong, known for co-penning satire heavyweights like Veep, The Thick of It, Peep show, and by and large known to write satires for dramatic presentations? Jesse Armstrong's forte is satire, it's what he excels at. His style is distinct, and Succession is overflowing with his brilliance. 8 Likes 1 Share |

AbdulSleeky: (i) A comedy is a dramatic exaggeration of real life situations for humorous purpose. It's satirical in tone. (ii) A drama is a serious representations that portray realistic characters to mirror real life situations. Between the two definitions, I would say Succession has more in common with (i) than it does (ii), thus without further ado, I would surmise that Succession is a black comedy drama. Its appeal lies in its satirical tone. 1 Like 1 Share |

This Is the End (2013)...9/10 Low brow humour, corny, cheesy and non existent plot, but for the life of me, I couldn't stop chortling until the closing credits. Great comedic cast and cameos, very quotable dialogue, this film is a perfect example of a film that's so bad, it's actually good. 3 Likes

Percival9: At the core, it's essentially the concept of Veep (a political satire) applied to the business world rather than politics, but darker and more warped. It's a black comedy slash satire pretending to be a drama. 2 Likes 1 Share

Petyr1: Nah. The Sun is the center of our solar system, making it the innermost core of our system. If you go past the Sun, the next planetary object you'll encounter is Mercury, then Venus, Earth and so on. 4 Likes |

femi4: Jupiter is a gas giant, meaning it doesn't have hard surface like earth, is mostly composed of helium and hydrogen. Furthermore, it's exponentially farther from the sun than Earth, putting its surface temperature in the sub zero category. Contextually, one of its moon (Europa) is perpetually covered in ice. 3 Likes |

oyaskii:Nowadays, I much prefer observing to making a nuisance of myself like our resident clown, AbdulSleeky, is wont to do. oyaskii:Gyllenhaal dying in the novel symbolizes him finding closure. In all likelihood, he didn't really find closure in reality, but him standing her up is a sorta existential revenge, since he effectively took away Amy's chance of finding happiness (with him) again. oyaskii:Lol, it does take time to process, to unpack and appreciate. oyaskii: The writing is convoluted and a tad pretentious, but brilliant nonetheless. In it's core, it deals with forces that humanizes, dehumanizes us, erodes and heals us. |
