I'm good with numbers - 169Q, but man GMAT is way tougher.

If you're not planning to attend a business school just do GRE and save yourself the torture.

After a month of preparation using Gruber (for verbal and quantitative sections) and Kaplan (for analytical), I wrote the test and scored V 155 Q 154 AW 3.5. Thank you DanjaNinja.

Dont be unhappy, you still have some time to prepare. Just follow the recommendations, you will do just fine.

hmmm funny. There was a day i was asleep and i knew nothing going on around me, but then in my sleep i woke up, i when down stairs, i saw that my dad was back from work, everyone were helping out, to clear the foodstuffs he bought on his way back from were he travelled to. Mum smiled '' how do you know he just came back from travel,when you were sleep all tru the night, i didnt want to wake you up''. I was surprised and a little confused, then i said, ''i was awake, i when downstairs to greet him, he bought yams, oil inside keg, vegetables and you even left for the kitchen, and daddy bought sweet and buscuit for me, mary kept it in your cupboard'', i argued. My parents were shocked, their shock, was what made me realise that all along i was truely asleep. Dad looking serious now , was like but you were not there, you were sleeping,i argued back my claims, my parents walked out of the room murmuring something to them selfs. As i later when down stairs to confirm my claims, much to the shocker on my sisters face.

Which link or URL can I download Kaplan new GRE 2011-2012 Premier pdf. Locating a site to download using google search engine seems to be an herculean task for me.

I will upload the Kaplan file and share the link here but this might take a while, so please bear with me all.

i want to use this means to say a very big thanks to DanjaNinja & crew, i actually used the Grubbers guide to self study for the GRE and i got a good score in record time.The initial time i wanted to say a shout out thank you, i was banned for reasons best known to the moderator.

The one and only school i applied for in the US just gave me admission of my course of study : Petroleum Engineering Masters concentration even though i didn't have a degree in chemical Engineering/ Geo sciences or mechanical. i actually had a first degree in Electrical Engineering.

If not for anything the courage and can do spirit that being a popular viewer of this forum has developed in me.

I did everything by myself : from application to submission of transcript and i always used nairaland as my reference.

i say a big thanks to again to Danjaninja & crew, You will always be remembered by me.

As for the essay topic being word for word, it's what I find on the GRE site.
As for the topic themes, I need a clearer explanation pls..I don't understand how to group them still...
And as you've earlier explained in topic one to four you listed, are you trying to say that the same response to topic one still holds good for topics 2 to 4 for the different task instructions??

@Topic Themes: Yeah, u were right, the bolded says it all. I 4got to mention the variation in writing instructions. The arguments are essentially "for" or "against" type essays. You will be asked to support or oppose the essay thus the repitition of essay topics

Oga i had no option but to quote u ...i've started studying the analytical section, and broz e no easy to copy those argument tasks ooo...for the past four days i still de copy and group them into categories whixh makes me to wonder even if i will have the time to draw up respones for all of the posible topics. i had to throw in the towel and start actually reading kaplan and i jus de confused even having those responses to the questions are necessary since its there on the GRE site that they may not set exact same question in the exam.

I simply copied from the webpage (CTRL+C) and pasted into Microsoft word. It took me a few hours - less than 3 hours to sort it all. I would have sent you my copy but my hard disk drive crashed.

Secondly, As you copy and paste, you'll discover that there are basically 10-15 topic themes. Therefore,you don't have to draw up responses to every essay topic. Your job is to identify the 10-15 themes and create possible responses to those.

For example, you will find the following topics on the GRE topic pool:

"Universities should require every student to take a variety of courses outside the student's field of study."

Educational institutions should actively encourage their students to choose fields of study that will prepare them for lucrative careers.

A keen observer would discover that the first four topics are the same topics written in different wordings. While the last three are just plain repetitions. Its that simple.

Additionally, the essay topic are selected "WORD FOR WORD" from the essay topic pool as listed from the GRE website. Whoever told you that the test question is not from that list, simply lied to you.

Additionally, my initial post on this thread was just a recommendation based on my personal experience. You don't have to follow my instructions by the letter. Figure out what works for you and work with that.

I got mine about three years ago in benin but i know you can get your international passport at Immigration office at Alagbon close to Ikoyi. The required documents should be the same:


1. Local Government letter of identification.
2. Birth certificate / age declaration.
3. 2 recent colour passport photographs
4. Guarantor's form sworn to before a commissioner of Oaths / Magistrate / High Court Judge
5. Parents' letter of consent for minors under 16 years
5. Marriage certificate where applicable
6. Police report incase of lost passport

I dont remember the specifics but i think it takes about 2 weeks for your result to be ready.

Paper or computer, Its the same test.

However, you get your score quicker with the computer test.

I read here on nairaland that you need to contract d services of an agent if u intend taking TOEFL and most times these agents delay your results... I want to know if this is true? And is it true that u don't need an agent for IELTS?

Also please I need a quick comparison from you ..TOEFL OR IELTS?

3) which is more recognised?

2. I dont know of IELTS. I wrote the TOEFL and it wasn't difficult. Had a score of 109/120.

3. TOEFL has more international recognition.
