Snazzygirl: Some people got their visas through pathway programs, and some didn't. The deciding factor is the "story" of the applicant. Why does your friend want to come to the US through a pathway program?? Undergrad or Grad??
Thanks for your response. He's applying for Grad School...The summary is he doesn't have a choice. His sponsor insists. Thats why he came looking for me. He was wants to know if the pathway program would affect his chances of getting a VISA given that V.O's would assume he wants an easy way in. Also, he wrote the GRE (310) and TOEFL (112). He's a pretty smart guy but it seems he has no say since he his not self funding. Anyways, can you please share more information on this issue or should i send you a pm?

Barron's GRE Prep Simulator:

I won't advise anyone using this. Use the official GRE prep materials. They are really good. Also, try get a paid official practice test.

domex007: Pls is there anyone that has used an uncle as sponsor and they don't bear same surname?
My uncle has agreed to give me his bank statement but we don't bear the same surname. I wanna go to the embassy soon with his statement.
Thanks
I have read of several instances on this situation in Part 4 and 5 of this thread. The difference in surname is not entirely releveant. A proper description of your reationship with your sponsor coupled with a proper definition of why your sponsor wants to fund you should suffice. The V.O's are aware that a good percentage of Nigerians are funded by non- parents : Uncles, aunties and even friends. Just provide a cogent reason for your uncle's support. Stating that your Uncle has been responsible for your education since childhood has worked for several people on this thread. Another valid reason could be your uncle is sponsoring you because your Dad was responsible for his education. The main idea is to clearly define/defend your relationship with your sponsor and your sponsor's reason for funding you. Hope i made some sense?

1,000 Likes. It seems a lot of people are unaware of this easy, simple method of GRE and TOEFL registration. I wrote a post on this a while ago in Part 5. Its here for all to see: https://www.nairaland.com/1482362/general-u.s.a-student-visa-enquiries-part5/293#24718753

Hello House,How una dey?

Quick Question:

A friend of mine wants to know if its feasible to be granted the American student Visa using a Global Pathway Preparatory Program I-20. According to my friend, this Pathway was recommended by his admission agent and Only TOEFL is required. From the little i could gather from our discussion, i think the Global pathway program is an English Preparatory program for those whose first language is not English. I really dont know a thing about Global Pathway or how it works and i have strongly advised my friend not to patronise agents as all information regarding admission are available online. Please house, if you have any information on this Global Pathway thing, i'd be glad if you can share it.

Thanks.

bigfrancis21: Thanks godG for your prompt reply. Actually to that effect, phone GRE registration no longer works. They stopped it around early this year. Now the cheapest and easiest way to register now is to have someone abroad register for you online.

busola78, I can help you register.
There's a better, more effective and quciker means for GRE Registration: via Paypal. I have done this several times. Please read this for more info: https://www.nairaland.com/1482362/general-u.s.a-student-visa-enquiries-part5/293#24718753

godG: You can't register for it online from Nigeria and I doubt if it can be done by proxy. Worry not, from Nigeria, you can still register via phone after creating an account on the site. Check through my posts, you should see where I quoted bigfrancis21 on how to do the phone registration.

Hope this helps.
Not entirely true. You can register for GRE in Nigeria with a Paypal account. Its a simple process. I've done several registrations using this method. Read this: https://www.nairaland.com/1482362/general-u.s.a-student-visa-enquiries-part5/293#24718753

Augustbreak: Be careful with GTB's internet banking.Hubby used the bank for paying school fees and visa .Some months after he left, all the money remaining in his account was withdrawn by an unknown person. No notification from the bank regarding the activities on his account. The account has been blocked by the bank.
Thats weird, never heard of a case like ur hubby's. While anything is possible, i doubt GTBank was responsible.
By chance, did Hubby fill one of those "Update your GTbank Profile" Scam Emails?

Just My opinion.

DailyNews: You have very good points that I agree with. Take Kim Kardashian as an example, she went round, couldn't find a guy to marry her until Kanye did...its not always easy for a pretty lady to find a husband...until she uses her head and stop waiting for Pope John Paul Michael Jackson Bill Gatescheesycheesy

Kim K as pretty and popular as she is, settled for an ugly Kanye....Beyonce used her head and went for ugly Jay Zcheesy but some of my very pretty cousins are waiting for Pope John Paul Michael Jackson Bill Gates to come by, that's the problem most pretty ladies have aside character/etc issuesgrin
Lmao...funny post but ur points lack merit.

1. Kim K didn't settle - she was twice married before she met Kanye.

2. Kanye is not Ugly.

3. Jay Z might not be so handsome but he's Smart, Rich, Accomplished, famous and Powerful - Ain't that beautiful?

sirRiddy: When are you writing your test,Danja?

I cannot say I am even up to 40% prepared as I still have a lot to do on Reading Comprehensions. I have been preparing since july, though intermitttently. My first challenge was getting a library close to my area. I had to be commuting to Isolo public library for almost six weeks which was really excruciating considering that I was coming from Ijegun, Ikotun huh. I just got back from my school to do my clearance and get updates about NYSC and I came back to hear that sec schools wld nt open due to the ebola scourge. I have secured a spot in the public secondary school in my area and I would be resuming there on saturday. Lesser stress and expenses. What a huge relief!

Hope it all turns out well for all of us. Hope to take the test by December.
I would be privileged if Danja could also mail the new practice software he found or post a download link.
Lol..i feel you bro...GRE prep no be beans o...Took the test last week, It went well. Will post the dwonload link soon. I'd advise you utilize Barron's GRE prep book, that book is the "truth".
