EducationRe: Chinese Or Engineering. Pls Help Me Choose. by DanjaNinja(m): 2:47pm On May 16, 2015
Hi @flyca, just saw your post. I am not sure if you still need advice on this issue but the tatafo in me just wants to contribute. So please forgive my aproko, buckle up your seat belt and enjoy my tinnie mini sermon.

What to study? Chinese vs Engineering

I think this issue is pretty simple. Don't waste your time doing an Msc in Chinese, a Power Engineering Degree is way better. You don't need to do a language course in Chinese to learn the language. The fastest way to learn a foreign language is to speak that language regularly and since you currently reside in china, thats a done deal.
Endeavour to regularly communicate in Chinese. Speak it. Breathe it. Eat it. Infact, catch one Chinese bobo, promise him "African noodles - indomie" in exchange for Chinese lessons. All in all,in no time, not only will you learn Chinese, you will be quoting Chinese scriptures - "Kpishan Gong gi chan...Chong JOng yun".... Please don't attempt interpreting what i just said, that's spiritual Chinese. Only my private tutorials can help in that region *shinning teeth*

As for Power Engineering, i wholeheartedly, single-handedly, APC-heartedly, MTN-handedly, Roller-skate-dedly encourage you to study it. Not only would getting a job be easier but combined with your fluency in chinese, you will be a "Bad ass hotcake engineer" aka highly demanded. Having some degree of fluency in a second language is always a plus. And the demand for Chinese would increase over time. I think that you have already positioned yourself for success given that Sino-African relations would increase ten folds as time progresses. Indeed, your parents were right - Chinese is indeed the language of the future. Just take a look at their economy - a viable yen, unbelievable population with juicy disposable income, skilled labour and impressive infrastructure.
The way i see it, there will be lots of international firms who would need Chinese-speaking engineers like yourself. So my dear, face-book, study engineering, learn Chinese, have fun and be the best you can be. I pray you find success in all that you do. God bless.

I noticed that a lot of people come here, get information, write the test and move on with their lives. I find this rather irresponsible and selfish. While no one is obliged to post his test experience here, you should remember that if people like Danjaninja behaved the same way, this thread would not exist. Our selfishness is responsible for a lot of problems in our lives. If you cannot do something as little as giving back in form of advice, will you be able to sacrifice for bigger causes? This is really shameful. I know at least two people who came here, scooped info and disappeared after they got what they wanted.
Aye o ri bayii o.
Biko tell them my broda. This sort of selfishness is perversely national and sickening. Its evident in almost all facet of Nigeria. And you wonder why we fail to make collective progress as a nation. I've said it several times that all those who have benefited from this thread should please come here to share their experiences and add new members to the facebook group cos you (SIrRiddy) and i might not be chanced to regularly frequent this thread. Yet every time i come on here, i still find no exam experience and lots of unanswered facebook add requests.

This is terrible and needs to stop not because SirRiddy i say so but because its only natural to give as you have received. Isn't that what we were taught in our various religions?

So, to all who have benefited from this thread, please i beg you, spread the love by sharing your experiences and helping newbies on this thread.

Dear Mum,

They said you were beautiful.
They said you were kind.
They also said you were very nice.

They tell me stories of how you would host the entire family - brothers, sisters, uncles, aunties, cousin - for Sunday Lunch: Jollof Rice with Secret Sauce and Chicken. They say till this day, no one does Jollof Rice any better. They say every Christmas, you would make clothes for everyone - you were a fashion designer. Sadly i dont remember any of it for you died three years after i was born.

Three years. I was three years old and my sister- your last child, was one, when you passed away. How is it that i lived within you for nine months, lived on your milk for four months, gave you endless sleepless nights for several months and yet, I don't remember you? I have searched the deep recesses of my memory, every nook and cranny stiil, i cant find you. I don't know what you sounded like or what your touch felt like. I've seen your pictures but it feels like we never met. I would have preferred growing up with you and i know you would have wanted the same but life had a different plan for us. God knows best they say.

There is something uniquely irreplaceable about a mother's love they say. No matter how another tries, its sadly not the the same. But mum, wherever you currently are, i want you to know that your sister - Aunty G, whom i call mum has done an excellent job. If she had not told me she wasn't my biological mother, i wouldn't have known any better. She loved my sister and i like her own. There were no preferential treatments - whatever she gave her kids, we got - even better in some cases. She made sure we never felt your absence and i must confess she succeeded. Mum, I had an amazing childhood. Kai i was stubborn o. Not troublesomely stubborn but curiously stubborn. I was always curious and wanted to know more and i was a certified trouble maker - chai, dem flog me well well...lol. Life has been good to me, i attended good schools, made amazing friends and i have so much to be thankful for.

Why am i writing this Mum? I just want the world to know that true love, Love that knows no preference nor self-interest,still exist and it can be learnt. I have seen it, your sister lived it. So it saddens me to see people suffer in pain cos they lost their mothers. We saw no pain. God, through your sister made it so. I pray that she lives long enough to experience the fruits of her love and sacrifice. If i don't take care of her, mum, biko, wherever you are, "KNOCK ME". Knock me with the spirit of Gratitude cos i would be ungrateful not to reciprocate your sisters love. Please know that i will forever love you, i will forever miss you and i will forever be grateful for the love that you shared with those who lived with you.

P.S: I want to use this medium to encourage everyone to look beyond ethnicity, religion and race in loving your neighbor as yourself. All we need in this world is love, patience and understanding. We are not perfect but we can help those around us if we try.

One Love My People.

I don't remember if it was necessary but let me walk you through the process.

To register for TOEFL, u need a paypal account. You can sign up for a paypal account with your Gtbank mastercard. I dont remember if made use of my token. i think i didn't.

After registering for paypal, simply ensure you have sufficient funds in your account then proceed to pay for the TOEFL using your paypal. The naira equivalent of the TOEFL fee would automaticlly be deducted from your GTBank account.

Thats all i think.

Give it a try, if it required that you use a token while performing the transaction, please let me know.

#Gejismyhero.

#TeamwatchtheMessiah
I would not call you names but your argument is rife with assumptions whose premise is untrue. Lets be Objective here.

America did not propose the so called gay bill. The bill was proposed by your clueless house of assembly and signed into law by your president. At least get that portion right.

Moreover, How many other bills did they (Jonathan + House of assembly) pass and sign into law?

Did they pass a bill declaring a state of emergency on the power sector?...anyone?
Did they pass the Petroleum industry Bill?
Did they pass a bill abolishing right of way restrictions for fibre optics deployment to ease nationwide broadband internet deployment?
Did they pass a bill on a comprehensive healthcare insurance scheme?
Did they pass a bill declaring a state of emergency in the health sector?
Did they pass the original freedom of information bill instead of the watered down rubbish passed into law?
Did they pass a bill repealing the draconian land use act?
Did they pass a bill on prohibiting prohibiting nepotism in contract procurement?
Did they pass a bill to clean up our putrid stock exchange system?
Did they pass a bill to penalize and prohibit insider trading?

The list goes on and on...They did not touch any of this important milestones. But this same abysmally incompetent charade of a president called Jonathan was quick to sign into law a bill prohibiting gay rights. What an achievement!!!!! What an achievement!!! Can we all give ourselves a resounding round of applause! Nonsense!!!!! As if the so called gay people where demonstrating for gay rights in Nigeria.

I am not gay. I love pus$ie. I don't and will never understand why a man would prefer another man to a woman. But who am i to judge? However, when the government - whose core function which is is to improve and protect the lives of its citizen as well provide a platform for economic growth - prioritizes the trivial by passes a law on individual sexuality when we have much more pressing pressing problems to solve, i am left with no choice but to question their sanity and competence.

You all scream No to gay rights, but the same you- yes you hypocrites, all queue up at the American embassy to get a visa for vacation, business, studies and to birth your children. The same America where they recognize the value of human life and have laws protecting sexual discrimination. Who are you deceiving?

Additionally, take a good look at Russia where gay rights/sexual discrimination is prevalent - The economy is shit. The media is censored by the government. Their president is serving his "THIRD" term. He is a renowned trouble maker empowering rebels and dissents in other nations - all to generate wars so he can sell arms. Compare Russia to the US and Canada and honestly tell me if that's a place you will like to stay. Its as if sexual nondiscrimination - that someone's sexual preference is different from you and has a right to be - is an indicator for mental maturity. And mental maturity and non discrimination is the foundation for developing a nation. Weird but true. Am not promoting any sexual preference but i wish to advocate that we work on issues that matter.

In conclusion, Wake up Nigerians! Quit the religious, ethnic n sexual intolerance. Love your neighbor as yourself and do the needful instead of engaging in mindless mental diatribes.

God bless Nigeria.

How blind are you not to see that in Nigeria's own case reverse is the case.
Even in your own allegations of the west, you should know that impunity and insecurity is something they never promote.
Mr.President was busy displaying his ignorance of the rule of law, curruption to mention but a few.
GEJ made every Nigerian to notice that our very own government is a failed one, except for some few people selfishly acting for there own interest that does not even reach out to their neighbourhood talkless of the community.
In some few months to come you have the chance to appreciate what the western world has done in terms of trowing out this clueless administration wit a far better and responsible one.
God bless you for this. The level of ignorance on nairaland is becoming appalling.

DanjaNinja Please advice me. i have been trying to make payments for GRE and its not responding with my visa card please do you what i should do? i'll appreciate your assistance
Easy. Pay with paypal. You will find paypal registration information here: https://www.nairaland.com/1482362/general-u.s.a-student-visa-enquiries-part5/293#24718753 . Just substitute the Master card with ur Visa Card. However, there are two things that you must know before proceding.

CASE 1. If ur Visa Card is a Diamond Bank Visa Card.
Don't bother using it. Diamond bank Visa Cards don't permit internet payment. Instead, get a GTBank Mastercard. Register it with Paypal and pay for your GRE.

CASE 2. If your Visa Card is a non Diamond Bank Visa Card.
Then there is a high possibility your card has not been activated for internet transactions.
If you have the time, visit your bank and request for internet transaction activation on your card.
If you dont have the time, look for anyone whom you trust with a GTbank Mastercard and a paypall account. And pay with that.

P.S: I know you. Stan A. Mr Comedian (UP - EE & Mr Seleya). So nice to see you here. I would have loved to help you pay but am currently indisposed. I will reveal my identity to you in due course. If you have further questions email me @ cchubitunes@gmail.com. I'd be very glad to help my brother.

Cheers
PoliticsRe: Ijaw Youths Accepts Buhari, Warns Against Violence- Punch by DanjaNinja(m): 3:20pm On Apr 02, 2015
EUROBOMBER:
Let me start by saying congratulations to Muhammadu Buhari for winning the presidential election and emerging as Nigeria’s president-elect. I have come to realise that Buhari’s victory is the will of God for Nigeria and so, I have come to accept him as my president.

I also want to congratulate President Goodluck Jonathan for being mature enough to accept defeat and concede the election. This man remains one of the greatest Nigerian presidents because he could have decided to set Nigeria on fire but chose the honourable path.

I want to also recognise all my fellow PDP e-warriors that stood beside the President. Thank you for your resilience and unflinching support all through the struggle. Also to recognise all the APC e-warriors who fought bravely in support of their party despite all odds and won the battle.

MY MESSAGE FOR BUHARI

Now that you have become the President, I want to let you know that the change Nigerians really need is not the change of personalities or political party, Nigerians are just tired of the way things have been going in this country. Nigerians are suffering; we struggle to provide basic needs that ordinarily the Government should provide. Thieves continue to steal and get richer while the majority of Nigerians are languishing in poverty. This is the reason why Nigerians have decided to give you a chance; the people believe that God can use you to turn things around in this country that is why you were voted for last Saturday.

(1) Fight corruption to a complete halt in this country especially in the petroleum sector. Sanitize the NNPC, ensure transparency and accountability. Nigerians all over should be able to benefit from our God-given resources. A few cannot continue to hold this country to ransom and steal at will.

(2) Provide stable and reliable power supply for Nigerians. This will enable SME’s to thrive and encourage investors to flock massively into the country. The cost of doing business in this country is crazy because of high energy costs. We must do away with generators in this country for good Mr President.

(3) Please diversify our economy. We cannot continue to depend heavily on oil in Nigeria. Sit down and take a good look at the six geopolitical zones in this country and find a way of harnessing all economic potentials for the good of all Nigerians. Our economy must be less dependent on crude oil.

(4) Deal ruthlessly with corrupt persons who believe that they can continue to steal and do business as usual. This is a democracy but Mr President, you are the C-in-C and you have enormous powers at your disposal, please use them! Don’t be like Jonathan who allowed his Government to be hijacked by criminals who looted the nation dry while Nigerians cried.

(5) Finally, Buhari could be the man that God could use to finally cement Nigeria’s bond of unity by handing over to an Igbo-Nigerian president after his tenure in office whether 4 or 8yrs. Like the Elder statesman Yakubu Gowon said, electing an Igbo president would heal the old wounds of the civil war. Buhari’s name will be written in gold both in the hearts of the Igbos if he can be the instrument to achieving Igbo presidency in this country. If Buhari, being a Fulani from the North can transfer presidential power to the Igbos after him then he will be like the hinge holding Nigeria together.

A WORD FOR THE SE

I want to thank my geopolitical zone the SE for standing with Jonathan till the end. Yes, he lost the election but we have made a bold statement that we can stand with you till death when we give you our word. There was immense pressure to abandon the minority Ijaw man and join the majority but we refused and stood with the minority till the very end. We must however join hands with the new president to move this great nation forward. Personally, I have concluded that Nigeria has come to stay since we have survived this 2015 presidential election. Let us also build good bridges with other geopolitical zones so that we can produce Nigeria’s president after Buhari. No zone can produce the president alone in this country; you need the support of at least four zones to produce the president!

Let us also eschew bitterness and drop all these talk about Biafra; we are Nigerians and we have everything to gain in this country if we can play our game well.

A WORD FOR THE NIGER DELTA

Thank God we can now say that Nigeria has produced a president for the first time from the minority in the person of Goodluck Jonathan who is about to leave office. I can understand the pain/anger because of the outcome of this election but the truth is that what has happened is the will of God for Nigeria; I see the finger of God in all these. This is Buhari’s time to rule this country; he is a man of destiny. He has come just at the right time to save this country from gliding into abyss.

Stop calling the Yorubas traitors and all that. Remember that the Yorubas overwhelmingly voted for your son in 2011 and rejected this same buhari. Check the figures and see that buhari was soundly rejected by the Yorubas in 2011. All Nigerians believed that Jonathyan would be a Messiah that would come and turn things around in this country; this was a man who had no shoes to go to school, who was from a poor background. Nigerians voted massively for him only to be so disappointed that he has not been able to make their lives better. Things are much more difficult for Nigerians now than when Jonathan took over. This is the reason why the Yourubas have rejected Jonathan this time. It is not out of hatred or gang-up but because he has not performed well! Same story about most of the MB and that is why Jonathan lost the MB. Nigerians never had it this bad, state Governors are owing salaries for months, people are hungry, unable to pay school fees and unable to meet their basic human needs.

How foolish can a Government be? Imagine someone that wants to come for a second term and civil servants were not paid their December salaries to celebrate Christmas! This is just unbelievable! It was in December last year that I began to question this Government in my mind but I still continued my relentless support on Nairaland for Jonathan. I saw my relatives who were Civil Servants going hungry during the Christmas celebrations, some could not even purchase new clothes for their kid, how painful!

As for me, I will do my very best in my own little capacity to support Buhari in changing this country for good. If things should continue the way they were going under Jonathan I wonder what the future of our children would be to be honest. It is God that has pushed out Jonathan not Nigerians because of all the prayers and crying that has gone up to him.

Let me also use this medium to appeal to all reasonable Yorubas on Nairaland to prevail on their people to stop opening funny threads about Igbo this Igbo that just because Jonathan lost. The APC people should stop opening threads to tell other Nigerians ‘Ntorrr’, we should move away from such pettiness and mediocrity.

A WORD TO THE CORE NORTH

And to the core North, let this election be a lesson and a reference point. A southerner sitting as president presided over his own defeat, accepted the results and went ahead to congratulate the winner from the north. In 2011 when Jonathan defeated Buhari, he refused to concede defeat but shouted that the election was rigged when we all know that he was defeated by Jonathan then. Nobody is burning tyres on the road in the South, nobody is burning Mosques, nobody is burning houses/cars and nobody is going about killing Northerners. Should the Northerners lose elections in future we expect them to accept the results and not disturb the peace. Jonathan has set a very good precedent not only for Nigeria but Africa.
My brother, I would vote for you if you were to contest for presidency. Your articulate and expansive write up says alot about you. Your are a wise and matured individual. God bless u immensely for this writeup. #HUGS #Nohomo
