To curb collapse , government and the states should enforce the national building code, every professional in the building industry should charge preofessional fees and follow due process of project execution ie an should design the architectural drawing, while the other professionals do their own part. When it comes to construction, all parties involved should be on site. Govt should enforce laws that will enpower the professional bodies in arresting quacks on site. Non on the side of professional who don't go for training and retraining, their licence should be withrawn. Supervisory bodies should arrest anyone building with inadequate or substandar materials. A material like steel has different sizes and it standard but can be wrongly placed which will lead to collapse. I hv seen cases of foundations that the foundation footings ie concrete are less than 75mm. You will also see derken or slab without beams in lagos with this little observations why won't buildings collapse. Please clients always seek for a professional and pay him his fee so if anythside quality is seen on site he can be sue for misconduct.
