Most Nigerians are pragmatic in doing what? In forging a SSN and getting a job thereafter? This is cyberspace means this is cyberspace.
What exactly is your question? Speak plainly rather than beating around the bush.

Agreed with the first statement; like most Nigerians I'm pragmatic smiley

Not sure of the significance of your second statement.

Education should always be subsidized. However, in Africa, the Structural Adjustment Programs (SAPs) caused us to stop subsidizing our education system. It is government responsibility to invest in the future. That is what is done in most nations who care about their populations.
Subsidized by whom? The state, or federal gov't? Keep in mind that the northern states already get enormous amounts of money from the feds. Not anybody's fault that they aren't using these funds to uplift their people.

Yep. People gotta do what they got to do to survive and make it in life. Cannot really begrudge someone for living illegally in the US when Shell, Exxon-Mobil, etc are part of the reason Nigeria is a messed up country. If they want to make money off of Nigeria, then they shouldn't cry if Nigerians make money off of them. What is good for the goose is good for the gander.

Now I see some of you guys are turning this innocent thread into a tribal war? First you nearly ignited a religious war by your unguarded remark about muslims being lazy. Now it is tribal war you are baying for. I hope you do not have to continue apologizing for your mis-steps?
I'm simply praising the excellent attitude of certain posters here, not attacking anyone else. Surely no one can be offended by that.
CultureRe: Can One Say That Yoruba Men Are The Most Wanted In Nigeria Nd Outside Of Nga? by DapoBear(m): 5:52pm On Nov 16, 2010
This is always a tough sort of thing to answer without data or whatever, it is just hearsay.

But with that said, I've noticed we do pretty well. Not just among Nigerians, but among all types of women. I see too many married couples or dating couples here in the US where the man in Yoruba and the woman is something else (usually Igbo, AA, or white.) And it isn't as if the girls are scrubs either, some of these chicks are phenomenal. If Igbo/other Nigerian, will be very pretty. If AA, a prototypical long-haired redbone. If white, some sort of leggy blonde volleyball chick with a great body.

Who knows what the reason is, though. I've noticed here in the US that we do a very good job of fitting into all cultures. We know how to make white people, black people, and Nigerians feel comfortable around us. Maybe this ability translates into attracting women?

I don't know. Sometimes you just count your blessings without questioning why you have them  cool

With all that said, we have love for Yoruba girls too. Just the pressure when dating a Yoruba girl is more  undecided My parents get too into it and emotionally invested when it is a Yoruba girl they like. I don't necessarily want that sort of pressure at this stage in my life.

Dating And Meet-up ZoneRe: Will I Ever Get Married? I Hate My Body. by DapoBear(m): 5:21pm On Nov 16, 2010
You probably think a lot worse about your body than men do.

Regarding scars and stuff, cocoa butter and time will heal them.

Main thing you need to do is to get some self-confidence in yourself. Perhaps counseling would be useful.

Regarding armpits, who cares? I've never cared personally myself, and I doubt most guys do. Your armpits can be blue for all I care, it won't affect your attractiveness.

Anyway, I've been there before in my life, self-doubt and insecurity is something pretty much everyone deals with at some point in their lives. Just know that you are not alone.

A good observation about the responses of the Yoruba here. Notice nobody accusing anyone else of tribalism, witch hunt, racism, etc.

Arizona?

Police are not in charge of immigration anywhere in the western world. They can only inform the immigration officials when one is suspected of being an illegal immigrant.
If stopped in the UK one can easily within own rights refuse to answer immigration questions.
Err, the most harsh provisions of the Arizona law have been temporarily blocked by the US Department of Justice. I.e., the federal gov't itself doesn't like this Arizona law and is trying to take it down:
http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/07/28/arizona.immigration.law/index.html?hpt=T2

In the worst case, if the harsh provisions pass in that state, you still have plenty of forewarning and can make alternative plans. It isn't by force that you move to Arizona; there are 49 other states you can choose to move to where Arizona law doesn't apply. Plenty of Nigerians w/o papers in Texas, Maryland, California, New York, Chicago, etc.

a bit presumptuous imo.

mexicans have been feeling the pinch for a while and it might not be that long before they start going after blacks.

remember agents are everywhere.
Mexicans? Who on earth goes after mexicans? Dude who mows my parents lawn is almost certainly an illegal Mexican; his English is almost non-existent.

Look, in America, police are not in charge of immigration. Immigration is handled by the federal gov't, and a very specific branch thereof. So even if you somehow get stopped by a policeman for running a red light/jaywalking/public intoxication or other small minor offenses, there is no chance of you getting deported or anything.

Basically, as long as you don't commit any felonies, you'll be fine here, even as an illegal.

Most immigrants here who get in trouble do so because they abuse the leniency here. They'll want to do 419, sell cocaine or drugs, etc.

You mean America accepts illegal immigrants if they behave?
Yep. Keep your nose clean, don't break any laws (well, you'll kind of have to break laws a bit to get a SSN and a job), pay your taxes, etc and you'll be fine here.

Best country in the world for immigrants, imo.

sad

I have to say, if you want to move illegally to a country and have a choice, pick the US. Nobody will come after you to deport you here, as long as you obey the laws and don't get in trouble.

It should be all set up nicely in a decade or thereabouts if we start now.

There are also some mini nuclear plants we can basically buy off the shelf, but those are American. They'll cost just £13million, produce 25 - 70 Megawatts and are buried underground in concrete for safety. Each Nigerian city can run on a couple of those; in fact, just 120 (at 25 Megawatts) or 40 (at 70 Megawatts) of them will match our current power output.

Its the way to go I'll say. Others have done it without incident, and so can we.
I'd like Ekiti to do this. I wonder what the electricity consumption of my state is. Constant power supply would give us a huge economic advantage. Can you provide a link or more background info to these off the shelf reactors? Name of the company, technology used, etc?

It is worth taking out a loan to buy that, I think. . .

I wish it were that simple.
So you saying an Igbo business man who owns real estate in Lagos, would be allowed to keep it under some trade agreement? Do you know how much Igbos lost during the war per investment and bank accounts, yet the government has not compensated them till today. By the way, is the business man going to be a citizen of the "old Nigeria" or a second class citizen? What if they say no, would you transfer real estate to Obosi?
It is one thing if I choose to marry a Ghanian or American but it is a totally different game if I wake up and realize that I now need a visa to visit my in-laws
Right now we are not even holding our leaders accountable, when some of them will claim they brought Mr Biggs to their state we reward them by voting/rigging them in.
In a United Nations sanctioned secession, not only would that Igbo man keep his property, but if he is a resident of Lagos he'd have to be offered citizenship in any new state that contains Lagos. Not sure how dual citizenship and things like that would work out, though; maybe he'd be forced to choose between SW citizenship and Biafran, I dunno how this aspect works.

What was done in the 60s during a civil war is not the same as what would happen today in a peaceful separation. I can understand fear of losing assets/wealth might be a big factor for you, but I think you are vastly overstating things a bit.

gbam!. moreover, its too dangerous in a country like nigeria where a militant group can just blow it up with knowing the consequences
Hrm, I think the safey features of these nuclear generators are pretty good. It wouldn't be that easy for terrorists to cause massive disaster; there are a lot of safeguards associated that would prevent things from escalating out of control.

The problem I have with this is that the Nigerian gov't always wants to put the cart before the horse. Send a satellite into space, but not have good roads or power supply. Majoring in minor, as my dad would say  undecided

Exactly!

Foolish adherance to religion is the main reason an id!ot like George Bush was voted in by the US. Today, they are ripping all the "benefits" as the US begins a long period of groping in the dark place their ultra Christian George Bush led them into. The same thing happened to the UK under Tony Blair.
There are bright enough pointers from more successful countries for Nigeria to observe.
Christian theocrats are no better than Muslim ones. Don't want to live under either.

What happens if you disagree with the theocracy about how you want to practice some aspect of the religion? Under a theocracy, religious disagreement is violating the law and probably gets you jailed or at the very least hurts your quality of life a lot.

Ya'll need to read up on the reformation and especially Martin Luther to understand why religion and politics don't mix.

Redeemed needs to stay out of politics; Jesus said the following for a very good reason: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=matthew%2022:21;&version=NIV;WHNU;

I googled the term "Monte Carlo simulation of the energy spectrum due to second collimator of a LINAC." Most of the links that come up seem to refer to something called MCNP, which is available here:

https://mcnpx.lanl.gov/

Looks like the source code for it is available on that site (in Fortran.) I suggest you read all the documents on that site. Hope this helps.
