Beaf:Yep, this is the best way to handle it. Explore for oil, declare some fake oilblocks there if necessary, and you'll watch the core North secede so fast it will make your head spin ![]() |
Ibime:Can you provide a reference for this first statement? Southern oil accounts for the lion's share of Sudan's total output, although the precise proportion depends on the final demarcation of a north-south border in areas such as Abyei, which was too sensitive to be included in the 2005 pact.http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE6380V020100409?pageNumber=2 |
igbobuigbo:Nothing wrong with that. They do a lot of evangelism, but don't do any harm, imo. I used to have very bad notions about Mormons. Their religion is clearly fake and crackpot. But as fake as their religion is, it produces results: hardworking, honest and sober people who are trustworthy and family-oriented. Can the same be said about Christians or Muslims? Too many Christians cannot be trusted (and I say this as a Christian myself.) Too many Muslims have very primitive ideas in their heads and are lazy. |
alj harem:I don't hate you Northerners. I just don't want to be in the same country as you guys. Neighbors, yes. Sharing the same country, no. |
Seun:Yes to the former. Not sure about the latter. Osama10:Question though is, how do we bring it to pass? Southern Sudanese bought their independence with their own blood. Are we willing to do the same? |
As much as we'd like to castigate Olu for his stupidity (and we all should, the guy is a slowpoke), this happens more generally here in the US even among Americans than you might imagine. Still, people need to understand that when you move abroad, you are not only representing yourself, but an entire country. So you need to be extra well-behaved, not act like a fool. ![]() Dude is an embarrassment. Mormons in particular are really good people; abuse of trust like this is just shameful. |
One unofficial vehicle blared out a pro-independence song: "It's the promised land and the promised land is coming."Feeling a bit jealous of the Southern Sudanese. Hopefully sometime soon, the same shall happen for my own people. Anyway, it is refreshing to see; I'm glad to see the world becoming more accepting of secessionist movements like this, The Sudanese model is the one Nigeria should follow when it inevitably breaks apart. |
Mathematicians can be pretty good programmers. But dunno why a programmer is going to necessarily be good at math. Certainly better than your average person, or say your typical english major. But compared to an average (for example) mechanical/electrical/chemical engineer, proly not. |
Unclear how much political influence these guys really have. . . |
Heh, a missonary named Steve Saint. How appropriate ![]() Pretty phenomenal invention. |
Wow. |
How do you know she didn't just have a wedgie? I think all this stuff about pubic lice is somebody projecting their personal situation onto others. . . |
I'm a big fan of MVC frameworks like Ruby on Rails, Django, etc. Very good for quickly prototyping an app. |
I'm not a big fan of EA Adeboye. Redeemed churches in general, i don't like their focus sometimes. Some sort of commercialized Christianity. But with all that said, I'll usually go to Redeemed just because I really like the community (yeah I know this isn't great justification. . .) |
igbo boy:That is the point of a federal republic. Again, the key word is FEDERAL. You don't seem to know what it means. One implication of federal is that whining and moaning about things that other states decide to do makes no sense. |
Tribal marks? That is a custom I am glad is dead or dying out. Not everything from the culture is appropriate for today. |
This "oh, well it happened in Nigeria and this should concern everyone" excuse doesn't fly. Texas for example has no state income tax. I cannot be living here in California and bitching at them for this, they have the right to whatever they like within their state. Same thing applies here, if we are truly the Federal Republic of Nigeria |
tpia@:It can and will, once the PDP is kicked out of the southwest (or so I believe.) Main thing is to get power up. Then we have a significant competitive advantage and build a nice economy. |
mrmayor:How many Christians would advocate deception, in that case? Unless your life is literally at stake, you'll be killed or something, then you man up and take any fallout like an adult. |
I dunno why certain non-southwesterners are here commenting on this. It doesn't concern your land or territory. Of what concern is this to you all, really? |
Jason is correct. There is a very thin line between a "local police force" and a local army. What happens if Lagos State has a local police force and brings in Navy SEALs to train them? Buy them enough weapons too, and that is a force that can very likely kick the @$$ of the entire Nigerian army. |
She hasn't really degraded THAT much though, relative to her younger days. She takes really good care of her body, has the sort of skin that won't get wrinkled and nasty with age, etc. She still is one of the more desirable women, and will remain so for a while longer, imo. And this is possible for more women to do. But it is really hard to find time to constantly be at the gym, to eat correctly, etc. |
fstranger:Strongly disagee with ishit4body on this topic, but gotta say I concur. Shorty is stacked |
Nicki's thighs are phenomenal. But I think imma have to revise my opinion, gimme KimK now and going forward. She is just too stacked. . . |
It should not be illegal it take pictures of police. In fact, I'd even want to install a video camera in my car, not to talk of picture. They are not trustworthy and often abuse their power. Video and pictures are a way to keep them in check. |
When did taking pictures become illegal? |
Ileke-IdI:Hard to say. She looks white. Yes she is of Armenian descent (so probably some mixture of Armenian and white), but appearance-wise she looks white to me. I cannot tell the difference between certain groups (Armenian, some Lebanese, etc) from whites. And by the time you take a pure Armenian/Lebanese/Persian/etc and start mixing them with white people, the kids look white. |
fstranger:Eh, I don't think anything I've said is controversial. If you have in your possession an absolute standard, then you can judge things against it (though it might be ill-advised or inappropriate to do so.) Without out an absolute standard, then how do you compare things? |
fstranger:There is a difference here. If you can find an absolute moral standard, then you can use it to judge certain actions (and societies) and see if they hold up. (Though even with this, there is a danger. If you are a Christian and believe in the Bible as your absolute moral standard, will you then judge your pagan father or grandfather or distant ancestors as evil, because they were not Christian, and practiced various unsavory practices? I sure wouldn't, personally.) With language, there is no absolute standard. Do we judge against English as of 1807 in London? Or English in 1907 London/NYC/Boston? This is why I'm not too concerned about languages changing. |
