very good. In addition, drink lots and lots of water. if only people knew the health benefits of that. even if you don't have as much time to exercise, please maintain a non sedentary lifestyle. try to go green in eating and consume lots of fruit rather than canned and processed foods. |

Let me argue for both sides. on the girl's part. every person has a set of qualities/characteristics/qualifications that they want in a life partner. it's a personal list and you are free to drop anyone if you know psychologically you can't take some things. we are wired differently and don't judge another person because they made a decision based on what they can or can't live with. if I can't submit to my husband because he is a graduate from the polytechnic, then why should I marry him. On the other hand, I also feel dumping someone because of academic qualifications seems shallow. you should judge your potential husband on things like dreams and ambition, family, financial ability, emotional stability, etc. who cares if he did not finish school sef. Abi no be person be Bill Gates? |

plaetton:I don't see it as that. |
lomprico:I agree with you and I know his children may not become the G.O., but why are they all Pastors. Is it coincidence or they just want to be Ike their father called or not. I am a prominent lawyer does not mean all my son's should be lawyers ( although it's a possibility) . |
From Pastor E.A. Adebayo (who I respect so much) to Bishop David Oyedepo, virtually every pastor in Nigeria has most or all of their children as Pastor's. It is often acknowledged that Pastoral ministry is one of the fivefold (Eph 4) and therefore requires a special calling (Heb 5:4). So why the frequency of occurrence within the family. Is it that Pastor's raise Godly children more? or the anointing of the Father is working for the children? Or Pastoral call is now intra-generational? Or the church is now a business organisation? MY TWO CENTS: I think that just like a Father who is a manager in a bank will want to work his son/daughter to work there and so tailor his/her life and academics in that line, Pastors now tailor their children and relatives (calling or not) to take over from them. Many of these pastors were truly called but as the church grew bigger, they began to see it as a company rather than God's property and so they take it upon themselves to choose a successor. I also think, Nigerian labour market being as it is, the children also see the the easiest way to survive is to follow Father's footstep and become a Pastor, at least there is no job issues. This mentality has led to a lot of hitherto mega churches collapsing or being a show of their former selves when the founder dies. I believe that there will be a change in heart of Pastor's to allow God's decision on who will lead His church, at least He said 'I will build my church'. P.S. I am not biased against anyone, and I only mentioned those above because they are prominent. virtually all Pastors are guilty of this, especially in Nigeria as opposed to other developed countries. |

We are told that our stomach actually takes a small percentage of our abdomen. Why is it that when we eat, our whole abdomen swells, instead of just the stomach area. |
What makes curses powerful are the words. Words are powerful and spiritualists, phsychologists, atheists alike believe they are. When the accursed carries the mentality of the curse, It becomes the blame for every negative scenario in his/her life. |
How many times have we heard this. Your own military are already turning oon you. Boko haram is out smarting them, have better resources and better strategies. You sit down in your Abuja office talking rubbish. |
Well, I understand Mr. Ribadu's point. Finitri wants to eat his cake and have it. If he looses the gubernatorial, he will say he is still the speaker. If he wins he will resign. Whichever way, He wins. There should be a way to check this in the constitution, if not sorry. Morals don't work in Nigerian Politics and attacking him on that ground won't work. |

Thanks you all. |
My parents are always at loggerheads. Many a times, its my father's fault. He never understands and always want to have his way. Doesn't drop money for food or clothes or anything at all. He always want to take advantage of my mum and even borrows money from her without paying. He is one of the reasons why I still don't want to go into a relationship as I am afraid of turning out like him. The world is too small for two people like Him. Anyway, as I said he is always trying to take advantage of my mum and gets annoyed at every little activity she does; Visit friends, go to church, get appreciated, laugh with others in fact everything. I have never meddled in their affairs and always leave them to sort themselves out. But lately I've been thinking maybe its time to start doing/saying something. I am the first born and am a finalist in the university. They've been together for close to 24 years now. I have a lot of anger bottled inside me against my father and I'm afraid the day the day it boils over, things may become irreparable. Even if I decide to interfere, I most likely going to take my mum's side. Please nairalanders, what should I do? Is it right to interfere? Or should I let them be. Can I take sides? P.S. Sorry for my jumbled piece, I wrote down my thoughts directly. |

Troops who were sent to retrieve the dead and injured colleagues from the besieged town of Gwoza yesterday, at their return reportedly fired shots at the main gate of Maimalari Barracks, Maiduguri, Borno state capital. Maimalari Barracks is home to the 7th Division of the Nigerian army. Gwoza, located near the border with Cameroon, fell under the control of Islamist insurgents yesterday, the second major town in the State to be captured by Boko Haram after the terrorist group seized Damboa on July 21, according to reports from Sahara Reporters. Two sources at the barracks said that the soldiers were angry about the number of dead soldiers’ bodies that had to be deposited at a military hospital in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State. They added that the commanding officer of the Bama military unit that was sacked by Boko Haram militants is also missing. The military hospital attached to Maimalari Barracks in Maiduguri received the remains of dead soldiers as well as those with critical injuries who were brought in overnight from Gwoza, a town overrun and seized by Islamist insurgents in a deadly operation early Wednesday. One source said that seven Hilux pick-up vans arrived at the barracks filled with dead bodies and injured soldiers. Several sources disclosed that Boko Haram fighters had massacred at least 100 residents of the town and inflicted a high casualty on Nigerian troops before the soldiers abandoned the town to the superior firepower of the surging insurgents. Boko Haram blew up two bridges in Gwoza, forcing hordes of displaced residents to flee into Cameroon in search of refuge. The new Emir of Gwoza, Mohammed Timta, remains missing more than 24 hours after the militants seized his town. Cameroonian authorities reported that Boko Haram also killed 10 people in a Cameroonian village near Gwoza. The high death toll and injury count among soldiers provoked the gunshots fired by irate soldiers at the main gate of the Maimalari Barracks. “The shooting forced the soldiers on duty at the gate to take cover in order to escape being hit by the bullets,” one of our sources disclosed. One source said the angry soldiers on arrival also demanded to see their commander ask him why they were issued far less weaponry and manpower compared to that of the Boko Haram militants. One of the angry soldiers told SaharaReporters that most of their mortars were manufactured in the early 1960s, adding that some of them failed to fire. He also stated that their rifles often jammed after firing a few times. “The commander went into hiding,” said one source. Frustrated by the development, some of the battle-weary soldiers began to shoot again into the air, saying they wanted their colleagues at the barracks to get a little dose of what they suffered in the bush in Gwoza. One source added that there was great anxiety among families of soldiers involved in the Gwoza battle. “Some of the relatives of the soldiers attempted to check in the hospital to see whether their people were among the dead, but they were not allowed in. The commander gave orders for the gate to be locked,” he said. Two weeks ago, military authorities started building a fence around the hospital to restrict public view of the facility. One officer said the military was worried that people were able to see into the hospital and expose information that the military considered detrimental to the morale of its troops. Some soldiers are reportedly critical of the fencing of the hospital when the barracks remain unsecured and vulnerable to attack. Our sources said there was high tension among soldiers as the commanding officer of the Bama military formation who led a reinforcement of troops to try and repel Boko Haram’s attack is nowhere to found. One military source disclosed that Boko Haram militants had condoned off and laid ambush in all the axes where they suspected that troops would use for reinforcement. “We heard that the Bama formation ran into an ambush and many of the soldiers were killed and some, including the officer, are still missing,” said a military source.
