sally bonne: So my point is, a gold digger is a gold digger with or with a prenup.
Only if a foolish man allows such. The man you described in your post falls into that category, the category of utmost foolishness.

A grown man that needed his family to convince him to sign a pre-nupt is not a man in control, hence he is susceptible to a gold digger anyway, with or without a pre-nupt.

PS: The good thing is no one, not even your god, gives a shyt about your technicality. The God I serve, the Allah I worship is not a god of technicalities. He is more interested in your intentions. And that is the only thing that counts. Now shove your technicality jargon up your a/s/s and I hope you, your wife, children and family rot in here for every technical mistake or shortcomings you commit while on this technical earth. ^^^

True.

The Belgians did not help matters. However, you need to delve further into that history and you'll see that the animosity and classification had already existed before the Europeans set foot on their land. You can't blame everything on the white man as that would be the easiest excuse. Yes the white man propagated a lot of confusion but we must also take blame for our actions as well and also be very objective.

Fine, you don't want to be classed as an immigrant as that is your personal choice. For that to be respected, you also need to respect other people's choices to seek greener pastures in order to enhance their lives. Whilst staying in Nigeria may be comfortable for you, you must realise some people may not have that same level of comfort or opportunity and may feel they have the chance to make it else where. It would be wrong to bemoan their choices. Everyone is entitled and responsible for whatever decisions they make in their respective lives.

Some people make it abroad and some don't. Some people make it in Nigeria and some don't. It is the individual's choice to recognize which will suit best!

Donxavier: Well Hate is a universal phenomenon and I agree it should be eschewed in all it's forms. But the hatred of races is more biting for the simple fact that it goes down to our very existence. Nothing beats Racism. People like Martin Luther King and the rest would understand.
Dear Don,

You are still trying to euphemise a form of discrimination in favour of another! That in itself is fundamentally wrong and very subjective.

Hatred of races is no more biting than hatred of ethnicity if your on the receiving end! What's the difference btw a White man hating me for being black and a Fulani man hating and wanting to kill me for being Yoruba or Christian?

Ask the Tutsis of Rwanda if they feel that hatred of the White man is more biting than that of their fellow Hutu brothers when they were under the machete. Am sure it made no different to them.

Donxavier: Why I am more particular about Skin color is because that's something we can't change except you want to go the way of Micheal Jackson lol and we are not responsible for our skin color. It's the way we are born. Why should anyone hate you because of that. People may hate you for your attitude or behavior or just plain envy. But there's nothing more demeaning than hatred just because of your race
Yes, hatred based on skin color is demeaning and cruel.

So is hatred based on ethnicity, religion and ideologies. HATE IS HATE. Regardless of which form it is being perpetrated.

To defuse the hatred our Nigerian brothers have for each other in form of the ethnical background or religion as less deplorable than the hatred of foreigners in European countries is hypocritical!

A look into the Jos crisis and the amount of women and children killed is a testament to the degree of hate we Nigerians have for each other. And that is way more than just mere Envy!
TravelRe: Nigerians In Diaspora - Is It Really Still Rosy Out There? by dare2think: 9:29am On Aug 10, 2012
Donxavier: It's pathetic, but that's life. People hate people for varied reasons, even blood brothers may hate themselves after some kind of betrayal or something else. But nobody hates you because you look like a Nigerian or because your skin color is black in Nigeria.
So, whats the difference btw that 'hate' and the one that immigrants may experience in foreign lands?

You are not hated for being black in Nigeria BUT you are hated for being an ibo man or being a Christian by your fellow black man!

Which is worse?
TravelRe: Nigerians In Diaspora - Is It Really Still Rosy Out There? by dare2think: 9:15am On Aug 10, 2012
Donxavier: I have never heard of anybody hated in Nigeria because he looks 'Nigerian'. God help us all.
How about Hausa's hating ibo's in the north? or islamists hating Cristians and killing them too.

How about the beroms hating fulanis and vice versa?

^ all these groups are Nigerians hated by their fellow Nigerians.

Is that not more pathetic ?

Yea, sorry I misconstrued your statement.

The problem is communication and understanding and a possible culmination of stress.

naijababe: In that case, the OP's original post is a complete contradiction. Compromise, sacrifice and respect - seems to me some men expect all these from their wives but won't reciprocate.
Dear Naijababe,

I don't think this is a 'men vs their wives' issue. Any indication to paint it as such will only lead to further complications.

This is a human being vs human being issue. Two separate individuals thrown into an unknown abyss called marriage. They both made mistakes and will continue to make mistakes. They only have to do the hard bit and acknowledge that they are not both perfect and adjust to each other.

Compromise, sacrifice and respect = Both ways

The couple has the classic communication issue!

@ Husband.

Man to Man. You made a couple of mistakes and I will like for you to consider them and swallow your pride and adjust.

Firstly, you came to the wrong medium (Nairaland) to pour out your feelings. Your wife should have been the first person to talk this issue with. And if that is impossible you should have gone to a responsible elder who will objectively advise you. The mere fact that you know your wife had the possibility to have have seen your post is disrespectful in itself and you owe her an apology. Please make sure you do that.

Secondly, as a man, you need to have a lot of patience and understanding. When a woman's body is going through changes i.e periods/pregnancy,some of them unconsciously begin to react in a wat different from their normal self. It is for you as a man to recognize this and be extra-patience with them. That is part of our sacrifices as fathers. Later on in life, sensible women really appreciate that maturity and love their men more.

Thirdly, please endeavor to open the lines of communications. Ask your wife how she is feeling. Listen to her and try to understand her (which is often difficult), but try anyway. Shower her with praises that she is caring your child and acknowledge that is not easy for her to be pregnant and still run around to make you comfortable. This will create a comfortable ambiance for your incoming baby.

Lastly, please do not take to mind a lot of the poster's self-righteous attitudes. Most are going through similar issues or even worse. Thank God for your wife. Even I as I write to you, I still have to follow what I have written above and I sometimes deviate. We are all human. One thing is you have to swallow your pride, call your wife and open the lines of communication. Tell her how you feel and listen patiently to her feelings too.

Take care dude.

Ps. Madam (Wife). Pls forgive him and listen to his feelings too.

@op

Different countries different opportunities. It is never easy in another man's country as you often have to work twice as hard to get paid equally or less than the indigenous folks.
Most advanced western English-speaking countries are often not that bad as compared to Nigeria or other countries. Countries like Greece, Spain, Portugal are becoming increasingly xenophobic as their economic situation begins to take toll on the social structures and environment. As with any society, when things begin to go wrong the 'foreigners' are often the first Scape-goats to be pointed out. This has happened through-out history.

The EU countries still fair better as compared to middle-eastern, Asiatic or eastern bloc countries in terms opportunities, acceptance and discrimination. This is often due to the democratic and educational background of majority of their respective population. Integration and multi-cultural exposure of certain countries play a part on how successful an immigrant can aspire to be in that social structire

In some countries, foriegners often classed as lower-classes often fair better than middle-classes in African countries. Basic amenities such as good electricity, security, affordable healthcare good road, adequate transportation, easy affordable cable/ internet subscription often give these perceived 'lower classes' much more life value than the perceived 'middle-classes' where these basic amenities are limited or nonexistent.

The OP's question is quite legitimate and judging by the global crisis, I would assume not as much depending on the foreigners circumstances. However, one must factor one crucial and important puzzle as well in the spirit of objectivity; Is it still rosy at home?

shymmex: The story isn't plausible...

There are too many loopholes in the story
.
Thank you.

However, are you aware that despite all the responses from people who did not see it as such, the op has not made any effort to make people aware of the story being fictional. In the real world, that is called deception.

Hence, the amount of opposition and disgust majority of folks on here are letting out.

Hope you get the drift. Creative writing is excellent, but to pass it off as reality is pathetic and sad.

Ask the op, is it reality or fictional writing? He has still not made it clear, 10 pgs and counting!
