nitigriti: What's freaking wrong with a ride request to Ojoo? Are some parts of Lekki/Ajah not more terrible than Ojoo? Abeg make we stop all these forming things Alot is wrong sir. We all pray to make profit in business. Time is money. You might be trap in traffic for hours on lagos badagry exp and its likely rider will leave you in traffic and jump bike as they are used to. Drivers are so rough in that axis and you might get Lagos colour from bus. Lastly, the road is terrible. Even your car won't pray for going through the stress of the bad road. I will rather do lekki street to street than go to anywhere after festac. |

When the rider say its the one at Ikorodu, I almost pull over while shaking my head, ha! Ikorodu.... But I can't risk 1 *, so I had to proceed for the love of *. xana101: From ikoyi club to agege, then to shoprite ota. Almost 5 hours trip. With very heavy traffic. The last time I checked the price, it was N5,200. When I got to destination I ended d trip, it still show N5,200. Price didn't move since then. Its a card trip so I did a cash review. The next day, Taxify reviewed it to N4,300. I was mad. I called the rider to explain to him. The guy ask me to send my account no. and he transferred extra 2k to me. Immediately I got another trip to Aguda surulere from sango. The trip was N1,300. Its a cash trip. I don't do review on cash trips so I explained to d lady she said the estimate was about 3k and I told her I'm fine with 3k so she paid 3k. Taxify are getting worst by day. Very soon drivers will boycott Taxify just as we did to uber that made Taxify this popular. What network and phone are you using? |

Megadrop: Shebi those idiots in yellow. Almost ran one of them down last month. I was going to Adeniji from Mushin and I decided to go through 3mb cos of Eko bridge gridlock. Immediately I turned into Adekunle street from muritala Mohammed way one of those idiots immediately alighted from their patrol keke and pounced on my car signalling me that its a one way and I should stop. The thief didn't know that I know what he knows. I nearly cleared the guy off the road because I know that Adekunle street inwards Herbert Macaulay isn't a one way. Before I enter any road I always look out for road signs and also the parking position of cars there. It's one way if you enter Adekunle at from muritala until old yaba road. |

The trip lasted 5hours from 12 to 5. And you are calculating it to be 6000 plus. That was my message to Uber.
Their response.....
We reviewed this trip and determined that you were charged an incorrect fare due to a technical issue.
We've updated your fare to NGN10,750.00 which reflects our estimate for a direct route between your pickup and destination. This adjustment is now visible in your next weekly payment statement. Next time tell your rider to keep updating destination. |

jaybim: I think one of the places guys miss it is thos point you raised. Suppose you were doing a 9 to 5 and earning 140k a month. Note thats that's what you have if you net 35k weekly. You'll fall sick like every other person, your house rent, fix car, feeding and all other bills will come out of the salary so wheres the big difference. If you save like everyone else you'll most likely live like everyone else. On the flip side, how many people actually earn 140k a month? Not as many as you'd expect. Driving means I'm always liquid, like one man I carried some time ago (He owns a school in festac) who also drives part time said "its like having a tree that grows money". This may not be accurate but i got the picture. Also talking about tolls, shebi na rider de pay, your toll payment is reimbursed na...abi? So i dont get it when guys calculate tolls as part of their OpEx. That's my account book and book keeping system Lol I thought I am the only one that have book |

nitigriti: I get the point you are making, but IB for #10,000 - #15,000 is not bad. All you need do is understand the idiosyncrasies of the car you are using for the trip, and understand the roads. I do offline to Ibadan regularly for #15,000. The journey, round trip is 6 hours max, considering hold ups and stopovers. There was one I did around November last year: 1) We agreed to leave Lagos for 2:00pm, so I started my normal day hustle by 6:00am. By 1:00pm, I had like #9,000 gross. I went to pick up location behind Allen Avenue and by around 2:30pm, we were on our way. 2) I bought 20 litres of fuel for #3,000; specially for the trip. This fuel took me to and from Ibadan. 3) We got to Ibadan (Gbagi) around 5:00pm, I dropped him off and then turned around and faced Lagos. 4) Picked 3 riders, Berger, #500 each 5) Was in Berger by 8:00 pm, turned on my apps and continued work till 10:00pm. Made like #3,000 from rides.
Gross for the day - #9,000+#15,000+#3,000+#1,500 = #28,500 Expenses - fueling #6,000, feeding, calls, data #2,000 Net for the day - #20,500
This couldn't have been a bad day for an ehailing driver Different strokes for different folks. It might not be bad for you but it is bad for me. I can consider anything from 17k for ibadan trip. Plus, I can't pick random people on the road. Alot of stories by doing that. Besides, it's how we drivers carry ourselves that made riders see us cheap. Tiny light chatter without A/C from Ojota iwo road is 14k not to talk of my car with a/C. I am not cheap. I will rather do within Lagos than do interstate that will not fix my car damage. |
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by darmilolah(m): 9:27am On Feb 07, 2019 |
brogxy: Don't blame him, e-hailing has affected both drivers and riders thought. Like one rider negotiating N3k for ipaja - ifo just because Uber app was charging N2.5k atmost. If app shows 2500 as estimate. The least that I will collect with abeg is 3500 and that's even for a trip on a smooth road without traffic. If you want me to come and pick you early morning before 6am. I will add my own inconvenience fee. Because you don short my sleep. If you no agree. Carry your wahala go. Infact, I don't like offline again. They come with their own wahala and overtime familiarity. |
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by darmilolah(m): 9:21am On Feb 07, 2019 |
I have noticed over time that drivers only think about the fuel they will use from point A-B. They don't think about their own safety and that of the car.
Some drivers go to Ibadan for 10-15k and I just shake my head. I know for sure no sane car owner will go for that amount because he knows he will likely come back to do repair. But drivers on rental don't care. After all its the partner that will repair.
If you travel interstate bear in mind that you will likely change atleast breakpad, tie rod and ball joint. If you don't hear the noise after that trip. The noise will surely come in next one month.
What if your car break down around Sagamu and you have to tow the car. Number 1, your rider will not pay you the complete agreed sum. Now you will have to add money from your pocket to tow the car back to Lagos.
It is not every trip you jump on. What is the point going to Abuja and you don't have atleast 50k profit. |
Business › Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by darmilolah(m): 9:00am On Feb 07, 2019 |
Tgiirl: very possible.. I ve done Abuja twice this January.. 50k each per trip.
It's not easy o. And very boring unlike driving within Lagos.
Aside that.. I had to change my car shocks due to multiple potholes I hit. Reason been that the trip seems like it won't end and I had to speed up maintaining between 100km/h to 120
Next time, I 've promised myself that I won't do below 80k for that trip or they go take a flight... 3 riders per trip. So you didn't think about possible damage on your car before you charge for that trip?
