Politics › Re: Let's Look At Buhari's Appointments From Another Angle by dat9jaguy(m): 10:00pm On Aug 28, 2015 |
Sweetlemon: Since it's in vogue to check demographics of appointees rather than their track records, very well then we shall do so. While most of us are shouting "Northern Agenda" Let's take a closer look at this expression called "North". Let's be sincere, when we hear North, the first thing that comes to mind is Hausa/Fulani/Muslim. But we have all forgotten or simply refused to learn that North is divided into Geographically: 1. North East 2. North West 3. North Central
Demographically: 1. Core Muslim 2. Almost 200 Minority tribes 3. A fair chunk of Christian population 4. Hausa/Fulani plus Kanuri Majority Tribes
Simply put, the North is 5 times more complex than the South. Now let's examine possible reasons why we just assume North to be Hausa/Fulani/Muslim. The answer is not rocket science. It's simply because Hausas and Fulanis have been dominating the Northern scene since forever. Now let's take a closer look at Buhari's Northern appointments so far; Did we miss the fact that a fair number of the ones in sensitive posts are from minority tribes and in fact Christians?? Now help me ask yourselves, when last did Northern Christians get recognition? When last did we hear of tribes like Kilba, Angas, Tula, Waja? Is it not indeed some sort of change from the usual Hausa/Fulani/SS/Yoruba/Igbo/Muslim we keep hearing all over the place? Ok nau. Are we aware of the SGF is a Pastor of proven integrity? Don't you think that empowering and recognizing the Christians and minority tribes will go a long way in checking insurgencies and attacks on these vulnerable people by Fulani herdsmen, etc? Are you now trying to say that these minorities in the North who have never been given recognition but have been patiently waiting are lower and inferior Nigerians? Don't they deserve spots just like the conventional Yorubas which make up SW, Igbos which make up SE and then the different SS tribes?
I'm not done yet. Have we noticed that these appointees are not your usual politicians? Does that not mean that it won't be the "awon goons mi" business as usual? They were almost regular people until Buhari made them popular, meaning they don't have a never-ending list of goons they need to reward. I know most disappointed APC fans had placed their bets on Onu, Fashola, and Ameachi. They have erroneously seen Nigeria politics as a sport betting game or a fantasy football league where you conjure up your own "dream team". Smh.
If we still insist on this marginalization talk can we ask ourselves these questions?;
1. Is there more stable electricity in North than in the south? 2. The clean up in sectors so far, does it in the long run affect only Northerners? If the EFCC, Customs, pensions, NNPC etc are functioning properly does it not mean better for us as a whole? When last did you queue for fuel? 3. Buhari just ordered clean up of ogoni areas, (let's not forget we just had an ND son there for the past five years!) Are Northerners the ones to benefit from this exercise?
Can we please just relax our muscles a bit while we watch how things eventually play out? I don't know why the average Nigerian does not think outside the box. These points here are things I pray each and every person reading this will ponder on with at least half an open mind. This is the first time I will be begging the mods to move my thread to FP. My message must touch as many hearts as possible. Call me a hopeless Nigeria-lover. Yeah I know I am because I'm the type that loves with all my heart, I may get angry but I still love.
Good bless The Federal Rebublic of Nigeria! Sai Buhari!
Cheers!

They have tried to attack Okonja Iweala but still yet can not pin anything on her. They have tried with Allison Madueke still yet nothing. That's the plain truth. The only abnormalities they discovered led directly to Obasanjo and some Northern oligarchs.

Politics › Re: How Corrupt Was/Is Jonathan? by dat9jaguy(m): 11:14pm On Aug 23, 2015 |
Whynotthetruth: Media prosecution & conviction of individuals seems to be a veritable weapon for ruling political parties now. Media has usurped the duties of law court hence politicians are making good use of it to blackmail perceived "enemies" tainting or even tarnishing their image. This to me, is laying an unfortunate foundation for another monster in the system.
In fight against corruption; It should be noted here, that I am an apostle of Jonathan's proactive measure as shown in his yam & goat analogy as against Buhari's reactive measure of jail policy. Has armed robbery ended with all the jail terms meted to them? Why would treasury looting be any different? I am a candidate of Jonathan's school of thought that believes in building strong institutions as against Buhari's or APC knack for strong individuals. I believe just like Jonathan/PDP that Nigeria's challenge is more in the structure as against Buhari/APC's belief that it is in the faces. Those are my creed.
Since Buhari, APC & their chief consultant(Obasanjo); hasn't started any tangible thing but still in the euphoria of campaign more than five(5)months since being declared winner of presidential elections. Rather we are bamboozled daily with highly conflicting perceived corrupt looting of treasury or recanting of their campaign promises as well as insulting and blackmailing Jonathan & his aides as corrupt and chronic looters of the treasury.
We need to as individuals put on our thinking cap to actually decipher who & where the looters are...before we join in decimating the "innocents" while the real thieves mock us. This does not mean or position Jonathan & his aides as saints in anyway at all.
SOME AVENUES OF LOOTING THE TREASURY in Nigeria;
1)AGRICULTURE;
Since I came to know Nigeria, I have always heard of fertilizer scam and looting in agricultural sector especially before farming season. Many politicians and businessmen became stinkingly rich thanks to this avenue. But under Jonathan presidency, this was sorted out using a technology backed initiative which is today being adopted world over. So is the man who solved this age-long challenge the looter or those who allowed it to subsist during their term?
2)GHOST WORKERS IN CIVIL SERVICE;
This is a cankerworm that is bedevilling our system in different strata. The software named IPPIS was introduced to solve this problem. Ever wondered why this software though known and publicized under former administrations was not allowed to see the light of day? It was only implemented under Jonathan. So who are the thieves here? Because several billions were reported to have been saved by mere allowing this policy to be implemented having weeded out thousands of ghost workers. Between those who paid lip service to this scam and the man who removed it; who is the thief or corrupt official?
3)ENERGY PRIVATISATION;
It was reported that a particular administration wasted over $16billion in that sector and only achieved more darkness for the country. Former power minister; Prof Nebo told us a lot about what was achieved in this sector after the celebrated privatisation including developing skilled labour pool for this already privatised sector; though sadly he regretted that they lost the war against pipeline vandals who undermined their efforts. How much was expended by that administration to achieve those compared to what obtained in the past who spent more to achieve nothing but increased darkness?
4) PETROLEUM SUBSIDY;
Buhari termed subsidy an alien language before coming to power. I wonder why he is very reluctant to remove same today? Is it because of national or sectional interest? By 2012, Jonathan sort to deregularize oil sector...break up and open up NNPC and remove subsidy...ACN, & CPC now APC called, ganged up with labour against him and brought him to stop it...Same people(APC), turned back later and accused him of stealing with his friends through subsidy and called him corrupt...Why stop him from removing subsidy if you knew he & his friends are thieves? When these oil magnates almost crippled the system at the twilight of Jonathan administration, some Nigerians chose to fight Jonathan instead of the oil cabal; just like some fought him instead of boko haram at the height of insurgency in 2014. It's unfortunate that PIB wasn't finally passed into law under him; but sincere oil sector operators would be happy to share the dividends of his local content policy in that sector. Again, who are the real thieves here; Jonathan or the two-timers?
5)SINGLE TREASURY ACCOUNT;
In order to centralize government's revenue thereby reducing shortchanging of the system and blocking leakages, Jonathan implemented TSA. Does a man who wants to loot the system approve such measure which defies the porous status quo? Why didn't former leaders adopt same measure? Who's the real thief between the man who signed & supported FOI to become law and those who went to court to stop its implementation in their states?
Did Jonathan make any mistake during his term? Of course he's human and must make mistakes. Is he the devil being painted of him today? Not near it at all...It is strange that same people who would not be cut dead granting Jonathan/PDP benefit of doubt in situations seek to be granted same. Only if law of karma understood such language.
President Buhari should note that media prosecution, blackmail & conviction which he's embarked on with APC leaders may some day boomerang. Let justice and equity be our watchword.
Thanks and God bless us all... Granted GEJ introduced TSA but he did not have the political will to enforce this directive.As at May 28,2015 ministries and MDAs were still having multiple accounts with commercial banks but it took the coming of PMB,who without changing a single thing in the order,to implement and enforce the directive. Structurez: Yesterday on nairaland, I saw a post by someone named Quizmillionaire, I clicked on their signature, I landed on their website and had a live chat with a guy named John. I love quiz and trivia so much and here was a website where I can win lots of money answering quiz questions. I had my doubts as I have never come across such a gaming website before, but I decided to give it a try and in the process of playing, I mistakenly choose the 7 questions format instead of the 5 questions format I had intended. It all happened too fast and questions started showing up. The first questions were not so difficult but the final three were tough and I simply guessed right three times! A page came up that said I had just won N 200, 000. For a minute I did not know what to expect. I simply entered my bank account details in the provided field and was restless. To my utter amazement, four hours later I got a credit alert for N 200, 000! I still could not believe what was happening, I logged into my Internet banking platform and there it was! N 200, 000 credit from Aleph Intellectual Entertainment. I got a congratulatory email from them, They said they were a new skill based gaming company and that I was their very first winner. I promised to tell everybody I come across about them for a month, hence this thread. I even saw their advert on nairaland this morning. Their website is quizmillionaire.com. THEY ARE GENUINE! Pls tell us the full story. You are expected to pay #1000 for the 5 question format before you even take the test. #shineyoureye |
