cochtrane: Hello guys, please I have one question. If I write my IELTS for another reason, say for advanced studies, and I then want to use it for Canada immigration at a later date, is that possible? IELTS exam is of two types. Academic and General. They cannot be used in lieu. |

Does anyone know what points a degree from covenant University will earn me from the assessment body. I also work in an industry not related to my first degree. Please I need answers. Thanks
Cc: bellong No one will answer yout question until you provide more details. Which course did you study? What is your occupation? How many years experience? |

olaboy1: I have used that corolla before 2004 model, it's a very durable car. You have mentioned before that the engine has been swapped and brain box. One thing I need to let you know regards toyota, I had same issue where a mechanic just went to buy a Toyota oxygen sensor instead of the exact part number oxygen sensor of my particular Toyota.
The things mechanics do, best bet is to do independent research on your vehicle before meeting with any mechanic. I am going to recommend two mechanics for you in Lagos who I know have fixed more than 1,000 of this your car and if push comes to shove they may have parts to use sparingly in troubleshooting the car since they have many in their workshops.
Odefemi workshop, I will get back to you with the address Ayoola workshop, this I believe is still at Bode Thomas Surulere. And I believe once you pay them they will give you guarantee and you could always go back if you have any problem.
Let me know if you need more info, The problem is I'm not in Lagos. I am in Osogbo. Well, moving the car down to Lag is an option. Thanks |

I demand explanation from moderator marpol.
I have been trying to write about my ordeal on this thread but it seemed I could not post anything on this section. It was glaring that I was banned from the section. I also saw that my last comment on this thread was hidden.
What is the issue here please? |

sikiy3: Hello everyone
Please, i did an assistant, I did my skills assessment with Engineers Australia but I got banned for 12 months, for plagiarism, I did write every thing myself and used an online software to check for plagiarism, still was a negative outcome with it. please, any suggestions on what step to take, please. Can I still redo the assessment after the 12-month ban. Please, your humble suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks a lot You did an assistant?? Well, there are more things that are not clear than there are that are 1. You did write all the episodes yourself, but got a ban for plagiarism (I am not understanding ) 2. Why must you use a plagiarism tool to check your own unique work? I believe there is more to the story. Normally, case officers will contact you if any slight form of plagiarism is detected. He would require you to explain yourself and possibly rewrite the episodes. This is a necessary formality. When I discovered this is your first post since 2011, then I knew something is off. If you have actually read the guidelines and followed advice on here, I believe you would not have fallen into this pit. Checking your unique work on plagiarism software is as good as shooting yourself in the foot. It seems you have taken this in good faith. Wait till the end of the ban, then come here for good guidance. |

Homguy: So i checked my score online and was pleasantly suprised to see a score of 8. Breakdown; Speaking; 8.0 Writing ;6.5 Reading; 8.0 Listening ; 8.5 I was initially excited but now, i really cant see what the advantage is although i havent applied to any CIC yet. Is this score and WES certificate accreditation enough to lift me above the threshold 400 points score? Any advice on how to register and attain max points would be appreciated. I don't know your full profile so I wouldn't know what your CRS score would be. However, this score would have been perfect if not for the Writing. If you are sure of your performance on the writing section, kindly order a remark. For CIC, a mark of at least 7.5 is what you'll need to get what you want For Aussie, You'll need 7.0 for 10 points and 8.0 for 20 points. Great result anyway. Cheers |

Sequel to my ordeal with WES payment, in which my payment was marked as fraud, I finally got back on track.
I had to contact a friend in Manitoba to help purchase a Money Order. However, I have been in a state of apprehension since last week that the money order has been sent, it didn't get acknowledged up till some minutes ago. Remember they threatened to contact CIC if I didn't meet the 2-week deadline.
Most unbelievably, a DM to their twitter handle did the magic within minutes. Anybody got any issues with WESCanada, feel free to DM them @WESCanada |

I will inbox my CPD. I am thinking of getting point for my experience. It's just 3+ years. I'm still awaiting IELTS before I start my EA journey. Can you please give further clearification on what should be looked out for. I have heard several people saying they don't want to claim point for their experience. Is it that it is more difficult to get assessed this way or there is something I am missing? I have heard people talk about VESTASS and co reducing their years of experience. Do you have any idea if EA does this too? |

Ladon7: SENIOR SCIENTIFIC OFFICER. Am already in Canada pool(my crs is low) , want to rewrite ielts to boost my score but the POF issue is giving me a nightmare dats why am looking out for alternative If you include your masters and get band 7.5 your CRS will soar. The POF issue hmmm. Before you ask any more questions. Look up the ANZZCO code that best match your job description and indicate which of the lists it can be found. Also note the assessment body. Refer to Page 0 to 2. Then come back to ask for any further help. I would advise you go with experience in line with your degree. This will increase your chance of a positive assessment. |

pek: In summary, what brought the car to it present state? DatechMan: I don't want to create another thread so that people can know how we got here.
I have been using the car since last year after so many challenges. Here is the latest.
On a good Saturday. I was going to work with the car and suddenly after a 1km journey the car stopped. I thought it was fuel outage, so I rushed to buy a gallon of petrol. After pouring in the whole gallon, the car refused to start still. I soon discovered that non of the lights/indicators(e.g battery, engine oil, check, airbag) on the dashboard is showing. So I thought it was an electrical fault.
I called on a nearby rewire to help fix this. After he had spent 1+ hours troubleshooting, he said the fuse box is faulty(a black box on the left side of the steering). He went with it and came back in another 45 minutes. Although my battery had run flat and so we had to wait for another 45 minute for a friend to bring a battery. After he had install the fuse box, we tested the car with the new battery. These were the discoveries. 1. The car kicked 2. All the indicators on the dashboard showed but refused to leave even after the car engine was running 3. Removing the battery from the car immediately shut down the engine
As the battery was not charging, the guy after some minutes of troubleshooting said that the alternator is faulty.
Then I realized the guy might be incompetent. Then I called my usual rewire to come and help fix the car. Note that my usual rewire will take at least 1 hour to reach the car which was one of the reasons I didn't call him earlier.
After my rewire checked the car, he fixed the charging issue because the alternator was not actually faulty. He also fixed the dashboard lights and they were responding fine. But, a much bigger problem persists up till now.
When the engine is running, you cannot raise(rev) the car, it just behaves as if it wants to shut down the engine in like a way as if the fuel is not coming out or something. Since last upper week Saturday the car has been grounded.
The issue is not fuel pump as new fuel pump as been bought. Someone says the issue is brainbox( only if we can get one to test). I'm seriously confused.
Guru in the house abeg help a brother. After so much troubleshooting using different spare from the same model of vehicle to test it without any success. I was referred to a technician in Osogbo here. The said he would need to fix the wirings and then scan the vehicle to know what to do. Then he got back to me with the news of the brain box being faulty. |

I have been busy with life generally. My car has been down for about 4 weeks now. The technician (the guy that was recommended) (Atere in Osogbo) has informed me that the brainbox is faulty and we need to get another one. He claimed the first guy that worked on the car must have destroyed the brainbox due to negligence/incompetence. At first, when the car was towed to his workshop, he said he would need to work on the wirings before he can be able to read the brainbox. After a week, he has gotten back to me with this bad news. I cannot but wonder how a small issue could have escalated to such a humongous brouhaha. Worse still, it is claimed that the brainbox is scarce in the market. I'm at my wits end.
