Hmm,naija passport has been rejected on 2 occasion now infact d last time hubby held his temporary drivers liscense and the passport and the lady still insisted she needed a canadian ID,do we go back to challenge her?
Yea for the equifax i think it was asking me to pay and i wasn’t interested in that,i just needed something i could use to understand how the credit thing works and how to boost it.
Can u tell us some of the best practices,some of us feel somehow about credit(borrowing)its been conscious effort to use the credit cards and honestly for now the only thing i pay for is my phone bill,do i try to look for more ways to use the cards by force to build the credit history because anytime i pay my phone bill i wld go and check if it the score has increased.Please help me understand better

We were not given that option at any point,most agent even specify the organization they want your credit report from,i see equifax,credit union and is it narboly report or so and the way this guys are they would not respect anything from Nigeria honestly,i feel more secured holding my naija passport in the US than this place,waiting patiently for PR cards so i can hide the naija passport for only when we are going home(dats d only thing it is very good for honestly).

I have registered with credit union thou so i am watching my credit report.

Someone said they do not recognise a new license So If I renew now thats gonna be issued maybe later this year isnt the fact the license is a new one going to be an issue ?

Am not sure really but I think someone mentioned it is going to be.
I guess am not totally clear on this.

I Vcole thanks for your assistance here, I have a drivers license that expired in February 2018. I saw a post here sometimes that says we can apply for a drivers license in Canada with an expired Nigerian license, I am not keen on driving here in Nigeria before landing in Canada.

Can I just bring that over to Canada next year and use it to apply for a driving license ?Is there any problem with that ?

Hi guys,

So i landed in Toronto a couple of weeks back. Landing experience was smooth. No much questions. I was done in about 20minutes. I was only asked how much I'm coming in with, they didn't request to see it. Asked the food stuff I came with. And then asked me for an address to send my PR card to.

So it was very smooth. Went down and picked up my luggage. And I was off.

Flight was with Egypt air. I've not been on any other international flight so I can't really compare the service, but I'd say it was okay. Flight is long as hell. Slept, stood, watched movie, slept again. But once I began to see my destination from the plane, my eyes popped wide open.

As regards job search, I cannot thank God enough for the opportunities He has given me in finding a job on time. Because as with everyone else, it was a big worry for me. I began my search from home. I used freetone app as stated by others here. My experience from Nigeria is in banking. I explored switching to IT but I figured it'll be a bit difficult to do that immediately without experience. So I decided to continue my search in where I have experience as advised by some here and move on from there. I had a number of interviews over the phone from Nigeria and continued to in person interview when I arrived. Thankfully I've been able to secure a role within a couple of weeks of arriving here. So it does help to start on time, don't rule yourself out of any role, give the employer the option available to you and hear what they say.

Having said that, is there a group for Nigerians in Toronto? It can get boring here when you don't have much friends so if anyone is around North York/Etobicoke/Mississauga, holla! I wouldnt mind a meet up.

It has been a crazy and emotional journey for me so far.

2016- MSc programme at the University of Saskatchewan.
2017- Moved to Ontario (Job opportunities) and the hustle began!
A friend who graduated at the same time as I got a good job and had me wondering if I was not good enough. I literally slept and woke up on my laptop. I lost an opportunity because my work permit was not ready.

After almost three months of editing, structuring, matching and sending out resumes to companies. I recently got an entry-level job in a bank. I believe it is a great way to start my banking career, take the financial exams etc.

Everyone will have different timelines, just stay focused and optimistic.

Shun any negativity thrown your way. For example, a friend of mine was always flaunting his salary in every conversation which sometimes made me feel bad cos I was on $0 (lol).

I have not gotten there yet but I am pushing through. Someone might land today and become the manager of Company Z and while another might struggle for three years.

As long as you work -regardless of the type of job you do- to put food on your table, be thankful.

Currently on the lookout for evening and weekend jobs to do, as exams are expensive and rent is not a joke .

We will all look back and smile. #MayOurHustlePayOff

I think I know why she made that statement. There have been reported cases of landlords demanding sex for free rent in BC. So many pervs out there. I do not know about other provinces though. One has to be careful with freebies.

Those people offering free rental to females have ulterior motives. I won't advise a new immigrant who is tryna find their bearing to take up any of these offers.

Hello all. I have been a silent member for some months and benefited from all the wealth of knowledge from various posts from the seniors in the house. I landed in Mississauga, Ontario under the express ent. program last weekend and it has been more difficult than I anticipated getting a decent accommodation here to rent for a fair budget. I am temporarily staying in an airbnb as I do not have any alternative arrangement for accommodation but I need to move out in a few days at most. I thought to ask if there is there any female around the area looking to rent a 2 bedroom apartment to share, or any referrals to a studio/ good basement apartment. I haven't had good experiences on kjiji and other Canadian online sites as yet so exploring all my options at this time. Many thanks

I live off Mississauga so any location around airport road @ Steeles is very close. Anywhere around Westwood mall is fine as well. My office is at Meadowvale so that location isn’t bad as well. God bless

To think that I also received such an offer outside a grocery shop on Hurontario, Mississauga 2 years ago. The IFG/WFG hustle game is strong here in Canny. Thanks for sharing, this brought back memories as a job hunter. I also posted my resume to indeed.ca and monster.ca and the next day, got a call to come in for an interview. Hopped on the bus over there only to hear the long story of how I should become a street trekker for WFG. I just smiled at the guy through his preaching and told him I'd get back to him. Politely sent him a text the next day saying thanks but no thanks. I just filed the experience away as 'adventures in hustle land'. Don't worry, you miracle is still on the way. It's only a matter of time before your preparation and efforts will meet with the right opportunity.

P.S. I drove by that McLaughin location on Saturday evening, perhaps we crossed each other?

I woke up one day in October 2017, and saw this pop up that I was being suspended till Dec 31. I did not know what it meant until I tried to respond to a query. Reached out to Osewa and team and there was no response. And since I was not being paid for providing content on the blog, I told myself I would use those minutes for other productive matters.

Those who reached out to me, I still provided the help I could. And guess what….? I have met quite a number of people from NL in person. Met this Nigerian Guy at Acces, we exchanged numbers. It was just last week he said “I think we have communicated before, I sent you a Whatsapp Chat and you responded” I said I am not sure. He said he will look for the chat, and boooom na true o. Cool guy. Make we dey do good. If he was to assassinate me, na easy does it he would have taken me out.

Met Czar two or three times now. I even ate her Ogbono when I visited her in Mississauga. She has a creepy landlady.
For the Driving License, my guy is off that project. He doesn’t have direct hold on them again.
So what has been happening while I was away… I was going to resume to NL on Jan 1, after ban elapsed. I just told myself, this blog owner is unserious. I am not being paid for it, I am banning myself too.

Czaratwork can disturb! Choi… Since I don’t know why my handle was suspended, the next time they might ban me till 2025. So until I know their reason(s) I dey hiatus.
