Religion / Re: Is It True That The Bodies Of Some Saints Are Incorruptible? by David0(m): 11:41am On Aug 29, 2015
Ubenedictus:

there is a difference between mummification and incorruptibility! If a body was embalmed it is not classified as incorrupt! That is why I said you should make research, if u had made research you would have learnt that there is a difference.

I give u an example, st francis de sales died close to China, his companions decided to ship his bones back to his fathers land so they poured quicklime (a decomposing agent) on it and buried it. (quicklime decomposes a corpse within days leaving just bones). After some weeks mr Francis was exhumed with the hope of shipping his bare bone back home. His flesh was still intact, the process was repeated and the result was the same. His incorrupt body was shipped home. It is still incorrupt to this day.

An incorruptible is actually different from a preserved corpse. Make research dear.

To be considered incorruptible the body is actually supposed to be in conditions that encourages decomposition.
Read my dear

That's d lie the Catholics carry till dis day. They didn't tell u d truth. How come we never here or seen any incorruptible saint in dis our generation?

Still doesn't justify d fact everyone must have the spirit of speaking in tongue, besides if no man understands him, then what is d relevance of the gift of interpretation of tongues?

Go and reread 1cor12.
All believers can speak with tongues,we all have same spirit.
I have taught this several times on this forum and beyond.
I still taught the subject of tongues this evening.

1cor12 explained the diversities of the gifts in ministry.
I will be back to expantiate further.

Dont bend and twist mark 16:15-17.

These signs shall follow them that believe.
The greek word is compound word which means "The believing ones".
All believers can speak with tongues.

U have done the topic before doesn't make u right. The same 1Cor 12 u quoted was wat d OP posted, I've read thru it, n it clearly says not everyone must have all d gift, dat includes speaking in tongues.

And I am one of those who believes speaking in tongues is not making noises calling it tongue. Speaking in tongue is actually speaking in different languages.

You guys believe the death of Jesus removed/removes your sins, yet you criticise the architects of your "salvation". Isn't that being unfair? According to your book, god personal didn't do anything to these men, so why do you demonise them? If one is to critically look at your belief, Judas and others are heros.

To be honest with u, I don't think Christians criticize Judas for betraying Jesus, but rather the action he took afterwards out of regret which is committing suicide.

He wasn't the only one Jesus revealed will do something terrible. Jesus also told Peter u will deny me 3 tyms b4 d cock crow. Now what did Peter do afterwards, he cried to God asking for forgiveness, and God did forgive him.

But Judas on the other hand, went to commit suicide out of guilt.

Was it not d same jews dat wanted Jesus crucified? Why is no one criticizing them, cos it was meant to be. Their eyes were opened to realize wat dey had done, and those dat accepted Jesus were forgiven of their sin.

Politics / Re: Uncertainty Hangs Over Buhari's #5000 Stipends For #25M Poorest Nigerians by David0(m): 7:09pm On Aug 23, 2015
When Buhari made such promise, Nigerians will always think Buhari must achieve dat within his 4 years tenure.
We must understand dat all he needs to do is kill corruption and Nigeria will start moving forward.
N5k to every unemployed graduate or poor person can be achieved when things are finally on auto run.
It doesn't have to be him to finally nail it.
When promises are made like dis, rather than expect d immediate fulfillment of dat promise, we shud first see what dat person is doing, if it will eventually lead to dat promise.
Religion / Re: The Way To Eternal Life According To Jesus by David0(m): 6:08pm On Aug 21, 2015
MrPristine:

Again you are wrong, we love Jesus because he loved us first and even died for our sins, the only way the bible teaches us to Love God is to love our fellow men.

1 john 4:20 If we say we love God, but hate others, we are liars. For we cannot love God, whom we have not seen, if we do not love others, whom we have seen.

Going by ur interpretation, even a pagan or Atheist can make heaven just by loving their fellow men right? NO.

U misinterpreted that passage. The passage only quells the hypocrisy or the misunderstanding of love itself. U cannot claim u love God, if u don't love ur neighbor, that makes u a liar. Loving ur neighbour is a reflection of the love u have for God. Loving ur neighbour is wat God expects from u, obeying God's words is the show of love for God. These two are inseparable. God must be in the mix. Ur purpose for loving ur neighbour must be God driven. And it can only happen if u first accept Jesus Christ who is the only way the truth and d life.

Read this passage:
Matthew 19:16-22
The Rich and the Kingdom of God
16 Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”

17 “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”

18 “Which ones?” he inquired.

Jesus replied, “‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, 19 honor your father and mother,’[c] and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’[d]”

20 “All these I have kept,” the young man said. “What do I still lack?”

21 Jesus answered, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.”

22 When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he had great wealth.

NB: Jesus answered the man's question by referring to the Ten commandments. Meaning Obeying God's instructions. Now there are two things involved here; 1. Loving God by obeying His instructions 2. Loving ur neighbour cos if u love ur neighbour u won't kill him, u won't steal from him etc.

Now read this:
Matthew 22:34-40
The Greatest Commandment
34 Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[c] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[d] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Now back to my last question which ur yet to answer. How can u love God if u cannot accept Jesus Christ who Himself said is His only begotten son, Hear Him. Matthew 17:5?

If u know what Jesus stands for then ur argument is flawed.
Religion / Re: The Way To Eternal Life According To Jesus by David0(m): 9:00pm On Aug 20, 2015
MrPristine:

The parables Jesus gave in my examples above are on how to receive eternal life and not on how to show love. Don't get it twisted. Would you rather follow the teachings of Christ or the teachings of your pastor.

Of cos that's d end purpose for showing love. But like Jesus said, Love God and Love ur neighbour as ursef. Abiding by dis 2 commandments eternal life is sure.

The parables u gave only demonstrates love for ur neighbour which certainly is not enough to gain eternal life. There's still that part where u must Love God also.

Now how do u Love God if u choose not to accept His only begotten son, who Himself instructed u to obey?

Now if u understand what Jesus Christ stand for, then ur argument is flawed.
Religion / Re: Is It A Gitf Or What? by David0(m): 5:12pm On Aug 20, 2015
To my understanding, speaking in tongues is speaking in a different language u never learnt but u suddenly know how to speak thru divine encounter with the Holy Spirit.

Like u went to preach in d North where nobody understands English only hausa, u didn't have an interpreter, then u ask God for help, n suddenly u start preaching in hausa.

That is speaking in tongue.
Not what our pastors r doing now. I don't believe in those, n never will.

Religion / Re: The Way To Eternal Life According To Jesus by David0(m): 4:25pm On Aug 20, 2015
MrPristine

Obeying or following or accepting to adopt instructions or commandments of someone, requires u to first know that person, believing or trusting that person, accepting the persons idea, before following that person.

Jesus has told us He's d way, truth n life, no one comes to the father but by Him.

How can u follow His instructions if u don't even believe or accept who He is.

Jesus Himself said go preach d gospel. When u preach the gospel, what do u tell people?
U tell the unbelievers about Jesus who died for their sin. U want them to know who Jesus is.

Now d first step in their repentance is accepting Christ, accepting His purpose for us all. After which u learn more about Him, and what He expects from u which is to Love God and love everyone irrespective of who they are. That is what d kingdom of God is all about.

Of kos u can Love everyone, but u will b breaking d other part of d law which says love God if u don't accept Jesus Christ.

The parables u gave are d various ways Jesus thought us to show love to people.

How then can we love God so we don't fall short. God Himself said, This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased, Hear Him. Matthew 17:5

U can simply love God by obeying His instructions, serve Him and Him alone.

I totally agree with you cos I am in your shoes..most christians see those who ask questions as being pushed by the devil instead of opening their minds to see and possibly find reasonable answers...I remember a friend of mine warning me seriously to stop asking questions and believe what ever I see in the bible...asking questions doesn't make you less a human instead it tells you desire conviction and knowledge of Truth in its pure form.

U are expected to ask questions. The Corinthian or so was reading the Bible but he never understood wat he was reading, God knew dat, so He sent Peter (am not sure if it's Peter) to go help him out. He met the man, explained things to him, he gave his life to Christ n was baptized immediately.

The Bible can only b understood if read in the spirit. By dis I mean, the holy spirit intervention gives u an interpretation of whatever u read. Sometimes u hv a challenge, d holy spirit will lead u to a passage in d Bible dat speaks specifically on that challenge. U ll b so surprised hw it works.

But when u read d Bible like just every other novel, u will never understand a thing, it only becomes just another Bible story.

But whatever the case, if u dnt understand a thing, or u get confused about smtn, u hv a right to ask questions to clarify. Cos at d end ur only running ur own personal race.

whatever comes from him? including discriminating against women, people of a different sexual orientation, race, genocide? etc

so if God tells you to kill, would you? dont say God cant tell you to kill because it is in the bible. so i have to believe in his words to prove i love him? do you have to believe in what your friends do to prove that you love them?

isnt God love? if God is love then why is there a need to love his word again?

I used ur parents as an example to try n differentiate btw luv towards man n luv towards God.

One question I'd like to ask is, do u see the message in the Bible as good or evil?

Point of correction: God cannot tell u to kill. U refer to the old testament of d Bible when God pronounces instant judgment on sinners.
And u seem to hv forgotten thr was always war btw Israel n other nations who serve other gods just like we hv Today.

While the Israelites cry to God n wait on His command, d other nations cry to their idols. It's usually a show of power. And when God command d Israelites to go destroy the enemy, u wanna say He is wicked? Have u come across any part in the New Testament where God said kill n destroy? No. U know y? Cos Jesus has laid His life, so u n I have grace now. All u hv to do is accept Christ as ur Lord n personal saviour n be baptized. Everyone got to be judged at the end.

God doesn't discriminate against women, Jesus came thru Mary, she was blessed amongst women rmb. Rmb Esther, Deborah, Ruth etc r they not women. The fact God didn't lay much emphasis on women in the Bible doesn't mean He discriminates.

From the very beginning God made man n gave him dominion over the earth. But He realized man needed a helper then He created woman. The Bible have always recognized women in d Bible as helpers, supporters, even after the ascension of Jesus, the Bible made reference to women how dey supported the ministries, the roles they were playing.

Now regards ppl with different sex orientation, God does not recognize same sex relationship n all dat, however God gave us two specific commandments with which u can never b an enemy of God; Love God, and Love ur neighbour as urself.

So d fact d Bible doesn't support LGBT, God expect u to show love to everyone irrespective of who dey r.

It's all in the Bible, the only way u can help ppl n bring them to God, is by showing dem love, n letting them partake in the love of Christ.

U can't change them, live that to God, He ll handle it.

I have one question for u.

Why do u love God?

Well sorry dear, dats not possible. It can b possible wt ur parents but not wt God.
The Bible is God's instructions to us, to teach us on how to reconcile with Him or maintain a good relationship with Him.
How can u luv someone from a distance even when u have d means to b with the person, u chose to remain faraway. That's not luv, dats called infatuation or deception.
In the beginning was the word, n the word was with God n the word was God.
U throw the word away, u throw God away.
If u truly luv God like u claim, u must luv whatever comes from Him.
Religion / Re: Sanctification Before Holyghost Baptism by David0(m): 5:27pm On Aug 17, 2015
My understanding of this is that;

Sanctification is not been totally free, but rather it's a process of attaining total freedom from sin.
And total freedom from sin implies a stage whr temptation to sin no longer have power over u. But u sure needs God's grace to remain on that stage. That's y we ask God everyday to sanctify us, dats is to groom us, correct us, teach us, make us holy n ready for His coming that we may not fall by the way side.

From the stories in the Bible of how ppl gave their life to Christ and were Baptised immediately, I think dat shud b the answer to ur question.

We have churches who expect u to go thru baptismal class before bn baptized which I personally don't support. What happens if that person dies before baptism, will he make heaven or not? Dat is another question. But I think when u give ur life to Christ, stop whatever ur doing and get baptized. The Bible never said give ur life to Christ and ur saved, but Give ur life to Christ n b baptized by the holy spirit.

U might be held responsible for d soul of one, if he dies before baptism due to ur unnecessary delay.

Just my bit.
