The Leader Of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has said the 2023 presidential election is between the Labour Party, LP, candidate, Peter Obi, and his counterpart from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar.

This was as Primate Ayodele declared that the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, was out of the struggle for the 2023 presidential election.

Speaking with DAILY POST, Ayodele noted that God would decide who becomes the next president of Nigeria.

He stressed that God would not look at any religion or zone in deciding Nigeria’s next president.

According to Ayodele: “2023 is between Peter Obi and Atiku; they are the ones struggling for it. I don’t see Tinubu getting anywhere. These are the two people seriously struggling for the 2023 election.

“Nigerians must be careful with the 2023 elections because anything can happen; the election may cause problems or chaos, and it’s more sensitive than what we have seen before.

“God is not looking at religion or any zone, and he does not want a Muslim-Muslim ticket. God will pick between these two candidates that are struggling; it’s a big struggle. The struggle as it is now is between Obi and Atiku.

“Nigeria is going to be better but not total; Nigeria is damaged, and they will only get to put it back. The next government would be better than the previous one.

“People will come out en mass to vote BVAS will be a major problem and INEC must work on it, INEC doesn’t want to do rig. It’s going to be a very credible election, but there may be some fighting, however, the election will not be a usual election.”

The Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has denied the allegations that he is working against the ambition of the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

The governor’s reaction is coming following reports that he ordered members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in Anambra to work against Obi at the polls.

According to the report, it claimed that Soludo charged Anambra APGA to work against Obi, because he was dreaming of the Presidency after Atiku Abubakar.

But in a statement made available to journalists in Awka on Wednesday, Soludo’s Press Secretary, Mr Christian Aburime, denied the allegations, saying that at no time during the meeting was Obi a point of discourse.

The statement came with the caption, ‘Re: Soludo charges Anambra APGA to work against Peter Obi, dreams of Presidency after Atiku’.

It read in part, “We note with disdain the fallacious and distasteful publication of a write-up with the above heading by faceless individual(s).

We would have chosen to ignore this mischievous and utterly despicable report, but for the benefit of a few innocent Ndi Anambra who could be mis-informed by the write-up.

“The following should, however, be noted: That Governor Chukwuma Soludo, CFR, only held a private meeting with his party members of the APGA. This meeting is a routine gathering where issues concerning APGA are discussed.

“At no time during the meeting was Mr Peter Obi a point of discourse.

“It is pertinent to note that issues discussed at the meeting were purely issues relating to APGA affairs.

We therefore urge Ndi-Anambra and members of the general public to completely ignore and disregard the publication in all its entirety.

Dear President Muhammadu Buhari,

I hope this mail finds you in good spirits…

I must not fail to thank you once again for helping to deepen our democracy by leading the change movement that saw an opposition party capture power at the centre for the first time in Nigerian history. We did so at a time when the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party had boasted that it would rule for unbroken 60 years whether the people liked it or not. We were able to make such a defining history because of your austere and incorrigible pedigree. We believed history had placed you in a position to become the greatest African leader—ever.

Unfortunately, fellow Nigerians, including your very self, have found out the hard way: Any serious setback from old age or ill-health is not a recipe for effective leadership. Make no mistake: One must not mock old age or ill-health, as these conditions are in most cases beyond human control. Moreover, our basic norms dictate that we show empathy for the adversities of others. Yet, it is a gross disservice to humankind for politicians who are challenged by either old age or ill-health to knowingly offer themselves for positions where such infirmities can hinder their performance.

The significance of physical fitness in leadership explains why candidates seeking power in advanced democracies undergo vigorous health scrutiny before voters can take them seriously. Mr President, you are a living witness. You have not hidden the fact that the challenges associated with old age do not augur well with the demands of your office. It is not surprising, therefore, that you have not been able to perform to the best of your abilities.

Leader of our dear party, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the master strategist, who was supposed to serve as a stabilising force, is suffering from a similar sad fate. His predicament is even worse. Within the past seven years, he has domiciled in foreign hospitals more than you have done. Needless to mention that his recent public outings do not portray a man who is physically or mentally fit for any serious party leadership.

The cumulative effect is that things have truly fallen apart in our party, as well as Nigeria in general. Today, the level of corruption, which you had declared would kill Nigeria unless Nigeria kills it, is now unfathomable. Today, our party—the All Progressives Congress—with Tinubu as its national leader, has become a safe haven for notorious corrupt kingpins who were indicted while at the PDP. Today, our party does not appear to have any ideological, moral or ethical difference from the much-discredited PDP.

The most shameless yet is that the APC has nominated the same Tinubu as its presidential candidate for the upcoming 2023 elections. The implication is that corruption has been embraced as a way of life under your very own regime. Common sense dictates that, if Tinubu is to prevail, but may God forbid, you would be handing over to a politician who is not only challenged by the stark frailties of poor health and old age but also someone who is widely disdained for being one of the most cancerous poster characters for corruption in Africa. Mr President, if Tinubu prevails, you will go down in history as the most shameless political hypocrite—ever.

It is necessary to remark here that I do not discount the contributions of Tinubu in Nigerian history. Eulogising him in a 2017 piece, “I pity Tinubu,” I did not hesitate to write that “if dynamic opposition is the life-wire of democracy, it is very fitting then to name him the saviour of Nigeria’s current democratic journey. Tinubu, more than any other Nigerian, nurtured and sustained the opposition movement that removed the Peoples Democratic Party from power.

However, as someone who has professed political leadership for decades in many advanced democracies, I definitely know the difference between the qualities of a political strategist and the qualities of a president of a country.

I must also admit that Tinubu could not have been a candidate you would wish as a successor. You wanted a level playing ground in our party. But the corrupt cabal within the APC took advantage of your condition to outwit you and hand the prize to the highest bidder. Take, for example, Tinubu’s Presidential Campaign Council, where he hoodwinked you to become its chairman. Look at the kind of re-cycled corrupt characters therein. Mr President, why are you allowing these characters to further tarnish your image? The saving grace is that the 2023 presidential election presents a golden opportunity to not only redeem your incorrigible legacy but to also save Nigeria from total collapse.

The three candidates with the potential to succeed you are Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi and Bola Tinubu.

On one hand, we can both agree that Atiku and Tinubu are the ‘same ten and ten pence’—the two most influential henchmen of Nigeria’s ageless corrupt oligarchy. In short, to elect any of the two is an errant sin. Please do not have a hand in such a shameless fall from grace. If still in doubt, besides their poor health conditions, please consider that neither of them can in good conscience campaign against corruption. Combine that with the fact that no Nigerian leader, whether military or civilian, has ever assumed the governance of the country with the type of corrupt background well known of Atiku and Tinubu. Think back, Mr President!!

On the other hand, we have Peter Obi of the Labour Party. Like you, he is well known for the frugal management of resources and has no record of corruption. Like you, he does not buy votes. Like you, he is determined to kill corruption, as you would wish. Like you in 2015, instead of waiting till election day to deploy looted funds to rig elections, Obi has demonstrated the physical ability to traverse the entire country to ask for votes. Luckily for you and Nigeria, unlike you, he is younger and in a better state of health to overcome the unfortunate frailties that hindered your performance. Moreover, he has a clear vision and the character to unleash Nigeria’s abundant potential to greatness.

Of course, I can relate to the burden associated with promoting a candidate of the opposition party. But as I had stated while equally endorsing Obi, we must not hide behind the bogus toga of political parties, tribes and religions to allow a crooked clique to dictate our future. I emulated President Olusegun Obasanjo and other progressives, who chose country over party to endorse you in 2015. I took a page from Colin Powell, an eminent American patriot and lifelong member of the Republican Party, who crossed party lines to endorse Barack Obama of the Democratic Party in 2008. Powell saw Obama as a transformational figure who could inspire a new generation of Americans.

President Muhammadu “Okechukwu” Buhari, your moment in time is now. A new generation of Nigerians beckons you to stand on the right side of history. The posterity beckons you to recognise that the 2023 election is a struggle between the nation’s corrupt oligarchy versus progressive Nigerians anchored by Mr Obi. The posterity beckons you to also demonstrate true patriotism by choosing country over religious, ethnic and party affiliations. The posterity beckons you to then go forth and endorse Obi, an untainted character, a quintessential patriot, a visionary and a generational figure, who has come to represent the democratic revolution the Nigerian masses, as well as your very self, have long sought.

Whenever I see those who clamour for Peter Obi with the hope that he will transform Nigeria I find it absurd. First in what way does he appear more qualified? The signs that build up to the emergence of a leader tells a lot about how his government will be. Look at President Buhari as an example who got into power by propaganda and false promises. His tenure has been riddled with controversies related to propaganda and promises not kept.

Peter Obi and his supporters have tried to shut down anyone who gives contrary view to his victory forgetting that this is an election not a private project where you decide for yourself what you want. I often tell people election is a game of numbers and conviction. A large number of Obidients have a closed mind. Election is not a threat game of this and that, not when you are in a minority and your candidate has no grass root in other regions and structure.

Structure matters a lot. The reason Bola Tinubu won the primaries in APC is because over the years he had been building. You saw the kind of landside victory he had, it was not a one day thing. It was years of making friends and playing key roles.

No President without a foothold over the national assembly can have control over policies and move a nation forward because he will not be ruling Nigeria by executive orders. Democracy stops being democracy when such is the practice. The process that has produced Peter Obi is not well baked. For an Igbo man to rule Nigeria the whole nation has to come together. Otherwise ask your top politicians in the east why they did not win the primaries. The likes of Orji Uzo Kalu, Hope Uzodinma, Ihedioha and Umahi know this being experienced and seasoned politicians.

Keep sentiment aside Peter Obi is a growing force but not a ready force to take over the nation. I don’t hate him but just like I said he will play a role in the next election because either way he may be the one who will help Bola Tinubu clinch the Presidency by putting Atiku at disadvantage.

Everyone cannot be President at the same time. The opposition have to come together to say this is who we want . A divided opposition stand a lesser chance to win. In 2019 Atiku had Obi as his Vice yet they lost so what arrogance are you banking on. Election is not won by personal determination. There has to be a conviction. You cannot win by threatening others in a situation where votes count not personal effort. Everyone has his home ground. Your threats can only work in your eastern States because if you go to the North and do anyhow, you will see anyhow.

The whole graphical game of showing fake crowds from Brazil as supporters of Obi or using glitch devices to produce multiple likes and follows on a post for Peter Obi has its limit. If Buhari did it and won it was because he comes from a region with 19 states and is the most popular Northerner. Obi is not even the highest eastern politician.

The unity of Nigeria stands a risk with Peter Obi because he is a tribal politician. Who are his Northern friends? The whole clamour is not for the progress of Nigeria but a tribal card by people of the east after a failed attempt to get a referendum through a Biafran agitation. It is not true that Obi is the best candidate. In what way ? What qualification?

I have been with the Igbos four times in my career and I can tell you the Igbo man is a tribalist. When I see people from the Niger Delta support Peter Obi I wonder if they have a knowledge of the political history of the nation and how these same people massacred their ancestors during the civil war. If by chance Obi gets there you actually believe he will create a fair Nigeria for everyone than Atiku? You think the Igbo man would see you as his brother when it is time for position? You obviously need a brain check. The Igbo man is not naturally fair. He doesn’t have equity in him and his Integrity in terms of money and power cannot be relied upon. When I hear them say those who don’t want Peter Obi love corruption. It makes me even laugh harder because most of them talking are selling fake items, imitations or doing one illicit business. So what love for integrity are they talking about? Does the typical Nigerian complain about corruption except when he is not benefitting. It is a false ideology to me.

Peter Obi reminds me of late General Aguiyi Ironsi in that they are both men, do the hear no evil and see no evil. Ironsi saw the brutality with which his folks took over power in the first coup in 1966 killing all the high ranking Northerners but chose to keep mute and a blind eye putting the nation at war by that bias decision. There was no way the North would have clapped over such a massacre or left it unavenged. Ironsi left his folks Late Kaduna Nzeogwu and co, alive without a meaningful penalty and caused the war that broke out by his hear no evil, see no evil. I have had to ask myself why has an Igbo man not ruled the nation since then and I realised there is a reason. They are the biggest threat to the unity of the nation. Nigeria needs a President who will restructure it and one who will unite the nation not one backed by holigans and people with a closed mind who talk about fairness when they cannot live it. Whoever wins this election will not be a Messiah no matter how good he is, he can be a John the Baptist to lay the ground firm for progress. At a time the opposition could come together they are busy attacking themselves and giving APC a high chance of victory because everyone wants to be President.

Since most of them want to think accross ethnic lines they must know like in football everyone has his own home ground. The North have theirs, the east has theirs and in the end election is a game of numbers, politics and democracy is a game of numbers. How does a President without party members in the Senate and National Assembly pass bills? Did Goodluck Jonathan who was a Southern President with more acceptance from the North and a PDP President find it easy?

A large part of the Niger Delta have PDP as their roots. They feed from PDP. Have their associates from PDP so would they turn against their party for someone who is not better than their party candidate? I fear that Tinubu may end up with the advantage because of Obi.

If Obi wants to be President he should do a real campaign. Not rely on threat game by his supporters. Election is a game of numbers and conviction even more then prayer and fasting. Sell your candidate with valid reasons not stupid logic. Don’t threaten the unity of the nation as you did in 1966. Violence will not make Peter Obi President, conviction can.

To win an election you need unity among all people and a tested strategy. It is not a science that majority carries the vote, this is why it becomes very important to embrace everyone from every part of the country. THE IGBOS SIMPLY DON’T HAVE THE BASIC COMMON SENSE TO FIGURE THIS OUT.

Making senseless noise, attacking voters and abusing candidates mostly do not win election, but heavily motivate more voters from the other side to go out and vote for their candidates.

Even President Obama refused to focus his election campaign on just black people. The man is brilliant enough to clearly understand that black votes (just like Igbo votes) were not going to be enough to win a presidential election. This was when Obama and his team came up with a strategy that promoted unity among all the voters and redirected them towards a common goal “YES WE CAN”. The same slogan was also embraced amongst Latinos in its Spanish form “Sí se puede”
But the igbos and their candidate Peter Obi do not have sense…they are so greedy, self-centered, and ungrateful, therefore, seeing further than their noses becomes extremely challenging.

Instead of constantly embarrassing themselves and their candidate, their key to a presidential election victory should have simply been respecting and embracing all people, especially the Yorubas. But the pigs missed their chances.

Insha-Allah, the igbos will be disappointed once again in 2023 presidential election in Nigeria.

Now that the Igbos have stepped all over every single ethnic groups in the country, especially the Hausas and the Yorubas, the big question is, what is the igbos’ plan B if Jagaban or Atiku wins the election? What is next for this hopeless group of people? Something tells me that they will suffer and publicly eat all the mess they have vomited.
