lexylaw40:
Obi attempting to cause second civil war, Fani-Kayode alleges
thenationonlineng.netSep 13, 2022 8:49 AM

Former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode has knocked the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi, accusing him of planning to cause second civil war.

The former PDP member lashed Obi over a video where the presidential candidate read a Whatsapp message allegedly from a member of Tinubu Support Group.

In the lengthy post accompanying the video clip, titled: “Peter, you are nothing but a LIAR”, the former Minister accused the ‘Obidients’ leader of attempting to spark off not just a tribal war between the Igbos and Yoruba but a mishap that’ll eventually culminate into a civil war in Nigeria as a result of his lies.

He wrote: “The name of the individual whose whatssap message you publicised on your mendacious and childish video, which I have posted here, is one Powell Glad Legbe who is not only an Igbo but also a racist, hate-filled reprobate and delusional delinquent who despises the Yoruba, Hausa, Fulani and Ijaw and who is close to you.

“That is why you covered his name and did not want it mentioned in your video.

“You now lied and attempted to pass him off as a member of the Tinubu Support Group and a Yoruba man when you knew very well that this was not the case.

“Based on this alone it is clear that you are a very dangerous, deceitful and dishonest man who is brimming with mendacity and who is attempting to spark off a tribal war between the Igbo on the one hand and the Yoruba and rest of Nigeria on the other.

“That is what your video was trying to achieve and by God’s grace you shall fail.”

Fani-Kayode stated the former Anambra Governor wasn’t only ‘sick in the mind but also sick in body, spirit and soul’, which has affected his misconception that he could ever be the President.

Telegram
“You ended by saying that Tinubu is “not well” and that he is a sick man meanwhile you that sounds like an Egyptian eunuch when you talk is not only sick in the mind but also sick in body, spirit and soul.

“Your sickness has deluded you into thinking that you can be President when deep down you know that you do not have a hope in hell of winning even up to 10% of the vote in ANY State,” he continued.

Still lashing out at the Labour Party flag bearer, Fani-Kayode warned him to henceforth mind his utterances and desist from the path of working to create divisions along ethnic, racial and religious lines.

He also implored Igbo leaders and elders to call their own to order because as a people, we desire peace and unity in the country but certainly not a second civil war.

“I hereby warn you to mind what you say, act your age and stop attempting to create ethnic, racial and religious divisions in our country lest we name you as a closet secessionist who is not fit to be considered as a patriot, a national figure or a serious presidential candidate and who hates anything or anyone that is not from your part of the country.

“The truth is that you do not represent the Igbo, you only represent your own stomach. You are a shameless opportunist and a man that is filled with lies.

“Your agenda is not an Igbo one: it is a personal one for you and your inner circle and it is a rough, dark, dingy and slippery road that leads to nowhere.

“You know you cannot win so you want to provoke a second civil war and God forbid that should ever happen.

“I call on the Igbo leadership and elders to call this dangerously deluded, irresponsible and vainglorious man to order and to warn him to desist from provoking the entire nation into a confrontation with those he claims to represent.

“We want peace and unity in our country. We do not want a tribal war and neither should we be encouraging or provoking one with our words, actions and fanciful fables.”

PoliticsRe: 2023: Atiku Proposes $10bn Economic Stimulus Fund For MSMEs, Unfolds Blueprint by David160(m): 7:42am On Sep 14, 2022
divinehand2003:
•Vows to privatise refineries than utilise $1.55bn to revitalise them

•Says he will propose legislation to remove electricity from exclusive list

•Meets Makinde, South-west party leaders today, promises to help PDP win Lagos

Presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, yesterday, said he would resuscitate Nigeria’s ailing economy by launching a $10 billion Economic Stimulus Fund within his first 100 days in office, if he wins the 2023 presidential election. Atiku said the fund would prioritise support to micro, small and medium scale enterprises (MSMEs) that offer greatest opportunity for inclusive economic growth.

The PDP presidential candidate spoke in Lagos during the “Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Presidential Economic Agenda Forum for the PDP.” He laid out his economic plan to salvage the country’s economic fortunes before members of Nigeria’s organised private sector.

Atiku also said he would rather privatise Nigeria’s dilapidated refineries rather than spend $1.55 billion on their revitalisation. He added that he would stop all fiscal support to ailing public enterprises and “over the medium term, I will propose legislation for the removal of the entire electricity value chain from the exclusive list and give states the power to generate, transmit and distribute electricity for themselves.”

Atiku, who commenced efforts to consolidate his support base in the South-west, was due to meet the Oyo State governor, Seyi Makinde, and some leaders in the zone today and tomorrow, in Ibadan.

The meeting was part of efforts to make peace with the camp of the Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike.

The presidential candidate of the main opposition party promised to support PDP to win Lagos State in next year’s governorship election.

Atiku assured the captains of industry of a warm handshake, saying he would listen to the private sector more, restore investors’ confidence in the Nigerian economy, break the jinx of infrastructure finance, declare a state of emergency in the power sector, undertake far-reaching fiscal restructuring that would improve liquidity in the economy and stimulate growth, create jobs, wage war against hunger as well as ensure that over the medium term, recurrent expenditure should not exceed 45 per cent of the budget

Atiku said, “Today, I will speak on the strategic steps that I will take to build the economy of our dreams and foster bondless prosperity for all Nigerians. Poverty reduction shall be the centrepiece of our economic development agenda and economic performance shall henceforth be measured by the number of jobs created and the number of people lifted out of poverty.

“Within the first 100 days of in office, I will create an Economic Stimulus Fund with an initial investment capacity of $10 billion to prioritise support to MSMEs across all the economic sectors, as they offer the greatest opportunities for achieving inclusive growth.

“I will undertake far-reaching fiscal restructuring to improve liquidity as well as the management of our fiscal resources in five bold steps.

“First, undertake an immediate review of government spending with a view to eliminating all leakages arising from subsidy payments. With its current precarious fiscal position and daunting development challenges, can Nigeria really afford to forego critical investments in education, health, security, etc. and channel scarce resources to subsidising the lifestyles of its elite?

“Second, stop all fiscal support to ailing state-owned enterprises. As with subsidy payments, by holding unto these underperforming enterprises, Nigeria is sacrificing investments in critical areas, including water, sanitation, and rural infrastructure. For example, the first phase in the rehabilitation of Nigeria’s refineries is expected to gulp $1.55 billion! I will sell of them.

“Third, take steps to improve spending efficiency by gradual reduction of government recurrent expenditures. Over the medium term, recurrent expenditures should not exceed 45 per cent of the budget.

‘Finally, focus on non-debt financing by promoting a private-sector led infrastructure development fund for the financing and delivery of key infrastructure projects.”

He added that his administration would be different, as it would support “the private sector to drive growth. We will establish strong partnership in investing in infrastructure, in creating jobs and income and in the fight against poverty. We will listen to the private sector more.”

The PDP candidate pointed out that the Nigerian economy was presently crawling rather than growing and that the country was broke and more Nigerians are getting poorer, more miserable today than in 2015, while capital has taken a flight.

Atiku made it clear that his administration would, “allow the Central Bank of Nigeria the independence to pursue its mandate but ensure that such policies are not detrimental to Nigeria’s quest for FDI and Nigeria’s long-term growth.”

He also promised to take “immediate steps to slow down the rate of debt accumulation by promoting more Public Private Partnerships in critical infrastructure funding and identifying more innovative funding options.

“Our economy is bleak and our challenges daunting. There is no doubt about that. No one should downplay the enormity of the tasks ahead. Indeed, I cannot think of a more daunting challenge than restoring confidence in the future of Nigeria as a dynamic economy and a stable democracy.”

President of the LCCI, Dr. Michael Oluwale-Cole, in his welcome address, stated that though the chamber was non-partisan, it was interested in the economic agenda of the candidates and their plans to make a better Nigeria in the next dispensation.

Oluwale-Cole said, “The chamber is aware of the overshadowing effect of politics over economics in managing the Nigerian economy and would, therefore, wish to contribute to the setting of a new economic order that can take our economy from the doldrums.

“New policy directions, institutional reforms, and sound governance are critical to creating a new economic order in Nigeria. This is why we are gathered here today.

“For the past 16 years LCCI has organised this session in every election cycle. This is a part of its public policy advocacy to provide a first-hand opportunity for presidential candidates of the leading political parties to speak to the organised private sector on their economic blueprint for Nigeria.

“All patriotic Nigerians would like to know the plans and intentions of a future president, and this will most likely enhance the choices people make at the polls.”

Atiku: I’ll Support PDP to Win Lagos

Buoyed by the presence of thousands of party faithful, who trooped out to welcome him, Atiku, yesterday, assured members of his party in Lagos State that he would give them all the necessary support to ensure that the party emerged victorious in the 2023 governorship election.

Atiku gave the assurance during an interactive meeting with party members at the Balmoral Hall of the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos. He said from what he could see, the PDP governorship candidate, Dr. Jide Adediran, aka Jandor, was poised to win the election.

The former vice president, who was careful and selective in the three minutes speech to the party members, said he would support the candidacy of Adediran all the way till the realisation of the dream of the party to take over the state.

He told the governorship candidate, “We will support you to any level. When I say I will support you, if you like bring down the sky, I am going to do it. Lagos is so much blessed, PDP is going to win Lagos. I believe you are going to win the governorship seat this time around. Therefore, we are going to support you to any level, when I say I will do something, I will make sure I do it.”

Atiku urged PDP members in the state to work harder so they could win all the elections in 2023, saying, “With the support, we will give you, we will win Lagos.

“I came to see for myself that PDP is on the ground in Lagos, and Olajide Adediran will be the next governor of Lagos State. You will see what we are going to do when the campaign starts.”

Earlier, Adediran said the people of Lagos were prepared to work for the success of Atiku in the 2023 presidential election. He said that was why they patiently waited to hear from him the former vice president.

Atiku Consolidates in S’West, Meets Makinde, Party Leaders

Presidential candidate of PDP, Atiku Abubakar, commenced inroads into the South-west, with a meeting with Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and some PDP leaders in Ibadan today.

It was also believed that the move was part of effort to make peace with the camp of the Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike.

The visit to Ibadan was allegedly aimed at building confidence in his teeming supporters ahead of the take off of campaigns on the September 28, 2022.

The Zonal Executive Council of the party described the scheduled visit as a strategic move to reposition the party ahead of the 2023 general election.

In a statement by its Zonal Publicity Secretary, Chief Sanya Atoranti, PDP stated that the choice of Ibadan as the first point of call by the candidate was a clear signal that PDP was one united and indivisible family, which was committed to deliver the zone for the party’s candidate in the February presidential election.

The statement said, “On behalf of members of Zonal Executives Council of our great party, I welcome our candidate, His Excellency Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to Ibadan, where he would hold a crucial meeting with all stakeholders of the party

“The visit could not have come at a better time than now in view of the on-going reconciliation and fence-mending moves by top hierarchy of the party at different levels to address various interests and agitations within the party, which were blown out of proportion by the ruling APC.

“As a truly democratic institution, the PDP welcomes all shades of opinions and interests, which sometimes might be misconstrued by the general public as crisis, but the inherent internal mechanism for conflict resolution of our party has set the PDP apart from our main challenger and the outcome of the recent reconciliatory moves has begun to bear fruit.

“I must also commend Governor Seyi Makinde for his exemplary leadership in the zone as he is billed to receive the visiting former Vice President on Wednesday and put in place logistics for the success of the event. Governor Makinde has once again demonstrated capacity to distinguish between self-interest and party supremacy because the PDP umbrella is our defining symbol, which must be, guided jealously going forward.

“I have always held the opinion that the PDP cannot afford to fail Nigerians, because the sufferings in the land is positive campaign to our party in 2023. Thanks to APC for mismanaging the country.

“So, the rescue mission of our country begins with the PDP and all hands must be on deck to put our house in order across all geo political zones and reclaim our stolen mandate of 2019. I equally enjoined Nigerians who are going through excruciating pains and agony foisted on them by APC-led wicked administration to keep their hope alive in the PDP because the storm will soon be over.”

PoliticsRe: 2023: Place Peter Obi On Watchlist, Keyamo Tasks Security Agencies by David160(m): 7:38am On Sep 14, 2022
Zydote:
Tinubu unmatched by perennial presidential candidate Atiku, APC tells Obi

Minister of state, Labour and Employment and Director, Public Affairs of the All Progressives Congress APC

Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo SAN has reacted to calls by the Labour Party LP asking security agencies to place him on a terror watchlist.

He said, instead, it is the LP presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi who must be watchlisted.

“I also call on the Security Agencies in Nigeria to place Mr Peter Obi and some of his demented supporters on the terror watch lists for circulating an incendiary video with a fake message by one of his supporters called Powell Glad Legbe (on his Facebook page) calling on Yorubas not to vote for Peter Obi. Mr Peter Obi then wrongly and wickedly attributed that quote to an amorphous ‘Tinubu group’. Up till now he has not withdrawn his accusation nor has he apologised to our candidate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“It is obvious Mr. Peter Obi wants to cause religious and tribal crises in the country and for this, I call on the security agencies to place Mr Peter Obi on security watch or invite him for a thorough investigation. If necessary, I am prepared to be invited too as a witness to prove my case against him”, Keyamo stated.

Also, the Director of Media and Publicity of the council, Mr Bayo Onanuga has taken a swipe at Mr Obi, accusing him of having “expanded his catalogue of lies on Monday by playing the medical doctor, declaring Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as unwell for the presidency”.

“He even added most gratuitously that Asiwaju’s supporters are backing him for his money.

“We find these statements unbecoming of a man who nurses the ambition to be Nigeria’s next President”, Onanuga stated.

According to him, the APC standard bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu “is unmatched in the field by even the perennial presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar. He is certainly not in the same league with the rabble-rousing Peter Obi by all leadership parameters”.

Onanuga noted that since Mr Obi is not Tinubu’s doctor and is not privy to his medical record, “Obi has again disgracefully elevated what has for long been a beer parlour gossip and social media lie being propagated by his IPOB supporters. Obi in his characteristic manner is amplifying falsehood which should not have a place in a decent political campaign”.

“We believe that political leaders should be guided in their utterances and be sticklers for the truth, but Obi has thrown all caution to the wind, pronouncing on issues he has no moral and professional competence to make a judgement call on.

“We want to make it crystal clear to all the traducers of the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate that Asiwaju Tinubu is not ill. He is hale and hearty. A man who works for 20 hours a day, meeting people and strategizing about finding solutions to Nigeria’s problems, cannot be said to be ill. We make bold to say that our candidate is as fit as the fiddle”, he added.

joy4news:
The standard-bearer of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has condemned the Sunday attack on Ifeanyi Ubah, the senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District.

Quest Times earlier reported the attackers of the senator who is also seeking reelection on the ticket of the Young Progressives Party, opened fire on his convoy at Nkwo Enugu Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area while he was returning to Nnewi, his home town from a function.

No fewer than six policemen attached to the senator’s convoy were reportedly killed during the attack, although the figure has not been officially confirmed.

Reacting to the development in a post on Monday, Obi described the attack as “condemnable and unacceptable”.

He also urged the Federal Government under the leadership of Muhammdu Buhari to look into the security hitches in the country.

His words;

“I deeply commiserate with my brother, Senator Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, and extend my heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones in this ugly incidence.

“The attack is condemnable and unacceptable. I hereby re-emphasise the urgent need for enhanced security of lives and property in society. I have continued to lay emphasis on the urgent need for enhanced security and protection of life and property in our society.

“Those who engage in these dastardly acts should be fished out swiftly using all machinery available to government, and promptly punished in accordance with our laws.

“I enjoin the Federal and State governments to strenuously strive to to curb the menace of insecurity rampaging our Nation.”

PoliticsRe: Tinubu Vs Peter Obi: Don’t Compare Don Perignon To Ogogoro – Fani-kayode by David160(m): 2:22pm On Sep 11, 2022
Yoruba1stson:
A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has stated that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, cannot be compared to Bola Tinubu, the presidential flagbearer of the All
Progressives Congress (APC).
He stated that comparing both men is like comparing Don Perignon to ogogoro or Cristal champagne to
what the people of the Niger Delta call ‘sepe’.
Naija News reports that Fani-Kayode stated this in an article titled, “The Obidients, the Jagaban and the Icarus Syndrome.”
According to him, those comparing the presidential candidate of the APC to the Labour Party are unserious.
Fani-Kayode claimed that Peter Obi was still a trader selling tomato ketchup and Bournvita in 1999 when Tinubu paid his dues and was already running for the Governorship of Lagos State.
He said: “What I find the most irritating and objectionable about the Obidients is not their unadulterated aggression and abusive tendencies but rather their insistence on comparing their leader Peter Obi to Tinubu.
“I consider this to be deeply insulting. It is like comparing Don Perignon to ogogoro. It is like comparing Cristal champagne to what the people of the Niger Delta call ‘sepe’.

“It is like comparing the finest red wine from the vineyards of Bordeaux to what the Ghanaians call ‘akpeteshie’. It is like comparing chalk and cheese. It is like comparing a Rolls Royce to a Volkswagon Beetle, a Porsche Carrera to a three-wheeled scooter, a Ferrari to a broken down mini or a Gulf Stream jet to an Aba-made helicopter.
“When Obi was still in kindergarten Bola Ahmed Tinubu was already a very wealthy and successful business man who had worked and invested massively in the oil, gas, hi-tech and communications sector. At that time he was already a dollar millionaire and he invested much of his wealth into politics and the lives of others that were less fortunate than he was.
“When Obi was still in secondary school Bola Ahmed Tinubu was already an integral part of the massive political network and a key figure in the late Major General Shehu Musa Yar’adua’s formidable political family which was known as the People’s Front (PF) together with other notable and seasoned leaders like Babagana Kingibe and Atiku Abubakar.
“They were of course to later join the SDP as a group and they, more than any other, ensured the emergence of Chief MKO Abiola as the presidential flagbearer of that party at their Jos Convention in
1993.
“When Obi was still at University Bola Ahmed Tinubu was in the trenches, fighting military Governments, leading NADECO and risking his life and liberty for the restoration of MKO Abiola’s June 12th mandate, which had been annuled by the military, and for democracy.”
He stated that many of today’s Obidients (the name given to supporters of Peter Obi) were not born at that time Tinubu played an important to give Nigeria democracy.
The former Minister said those of them around and very vocal and active at the time can testify to
Tinubu’s efforts.
He stated that Bola Tinubu inspired him and millions of other Nigerians and democrats all over the world with his courage and efforts.
Fani-Kayode said, “Many of our people were killed, incarcerated and driven into exile (including yours truly) and had it not been for the leadership of the following heroes we would still be under the yoke of military rule today.
“I will make this a full and comprehensive list for the benefit of those young Obidients who have no knowledge of our nation’s history and who know nothing about the June 12th struggle.”
Fani-Kayode said Bola Ahmed Tinubu was not just among them, but he was one of those that led them, inspired them and fueled and financed the resistance.
He said, “Outside of that and before the struggle even began, Tinubu had been elected as a Senator during the 3rd Republic in 1992 on the platform of the SDP, recording the highest number of votes for a Senate seat in the entire country! Whilst at the
Senate he excelled and was appointed Chairman of the Senate Commitee on Banking and Finance.
“This was just short of a decade before he became Governor of Lagos state in 1999 after the murder of MKO Abiola and the then Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, after returning home from exile and after the military were driven away and pushed out of office.
“From 1990 up until today Tinubu has been an active and key player in the political firmament of Nigeria
and he has always fought against injustice and tyranny.
“Whilst Obi was still a trader selling tomatoe ketchup and Bournvita in 1999 Bola Ahmed Tinubu had already paid his dues, made his mark and was already running for the Governorship of Lagos state.
“The elders of the South West and Afenifere supported him and rewarded him by ensuring that he won simply because of the noble and dramatic role he played during the June 12th struggle and his role in ensuring that the military left power.”
He continued: “It is a shameful and shameless comparison. It is a tactless, tasteless and nauseating joke. It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing! It is an exercise in futility and a pointless and profit less endeavour. Permit me to end this contribution with the following assertions.
“Let the foundations of the earth rumble, let the demons scream, let the lions roar, let the wolves howl and let the sharks run riot. Let the wailers wail, let the bulls of Bashan charge, let the mortals plot and plan, let the orcs shriek, let the goblins grumble and let our adversaries and oppressors “cry havoc and let slip the dogs of war”.
