Of all I said in that post, this is the one you highlighted to question. Not just highlighted, but you made it bold and put it on a billboard for the world to see. Your question is not genuinely to get understanding but to ridicule and embarrass. This is why you used so many negative words in that response. There is a anger seething beneath the surface and this is my reason for asking you, . . . what's your point?
Because it automatically makes nonsense of what other points you claim to be marshalling. When the premise is wrong there is no point looking at the conclusion. I'm sure you did logic in school.

There is no anger anywhere, anybody reading your long nebulous tome without bothering to check the facts would have gone away thinking you had something important to say. I had to set the records straight.
I repeat, it is an intelligent dialogue when you are talking about academic interests of a President. You probably do not see it so because your agenda is focused more on destroying the credibility of the respondent than it is on objectivity. Do you not see that? It is clear!
but it becomes unintelligent discourse when you fail history 101.

YOU destroyed whatever credibility you may lay claim to when you consistently lied that Bush never traveled outside the US before he became president.
Anyway, let me say this, . . . . I got better things and more objective minds here to share views with you than wasting it addressing the warped viewpoints of an envious person.

Enjoy the rest of the day David. wink
You certainly dont understand the meaning of the term "objective minds".

If it includes people who lie and dont understand history then you're in good company.

Enjoy the rest of your day too.

Next time do a good google search before posting. Some of us actually take the time to crosscheck facts.

There's a fine line between being independent as a woman and being bossy/domineering.

Foreign Affairs › Re: George Bush-(2000-2008) by DavidDylan(m): 8:49pm On Nov 10, 2008
You are focusing on his visits, which is ceremonial. I am concentrating on his travels and inquisitions into cultural diversities.
Look, i appreciate those who are humble enough to admit they dont know what they talk about. Here i reproduce your own very statement that generated this - Bush never traveled outside US until he became President, can you believe it!

I'm not focusing on any visit or travels or cultural inquisition . . . i am focusing on the fact that YOU LIED when you made the erroneous claim that Bush never traveled outside the US until he became president.
I have noticed that there are a handful of people in NL who lack sufficient broad mindedness in social discussions, particularly their brain exhaust fast in its expansiveness and they must therefore substitute for that call of scholastic aptitude by demonstrating brute instincts, such as negative branding and curses as well as false portrayal of the opponent's winning argument.
To start with, its obvious you think that using so many highfalutin words is a sign of "intelligence".
1. Its not.
2. What you typed above makes no grammatical sense.

For someone accusing others of "lacking sufficient broad mindedness", you didnt even know where Bush had been to before he became president.
I started by saying this : David hit some important notes on it already that I believe may be omitted from Bush's memoirs when his Presidential library is commissioned
Where you started is not the issue.
David, if your intelligence is anything to go by what does this opening tell you relative to the rest of the narratives in my first post? Before you respond with instinctive brute let me help you - it means that I am talking about his understanding or lack thereof of world politics and not about who or where he visited.
This is not an argument about "intelligence", it is an issue of honesty, being mature enough to admit mistakes and second grade history.

I asked a question that you sidestepped - How many countries did Bill Clinton visit before he became president? What was his level of cultural curiosity? Did he write any books or papers on world affairs before he became president?

Are those 3 things the criteria for a "good" president?
If I come from a background similar to one that George Bush came from, my exposure to the people of the world and opinion of them would by far extend beyond just handshakes here and there, smiles for the camera hither and thither . . . and to add dimension, you can see the effect of that difference in the measurable success of Bill Clinton, compared to George Bush. Bush has not written any paper or book on world affairs. . . labeled himself the Leader of the World and and yet no literary work to demonstrate an intellectual legacy. , . . . . and you want to defend his laxity with visits with leaders in foreign countries, beyond that what does he think of those places and their people?

Makes me question your aptitude and intelligence?
my dear negro, shut up and allow more intelligent people make a point instead of spamming the thread with your half-baked illiteracy dressed up as "intelligent discourse". See the person questioning my aptitude . . . grin

Your earlier claim was that Bush never travelled outside the US until he became president . . . makes me question whether you can read or are just an ignorant bushman. Bush spent 6 weeks in china in 1975, had been to Africa, Europe and the middle east before becoming president.

It doesnt matter whether it was all a photo-op or not. Bill Clinton was perhaps one of America's best presidents . . . what nations did he visit before he became president? How many papers did he write on world affairs?

Do you think before you post at all?

a lot of encouraging replies from very intelligent people here. I am very pleased that not everyone in our country is so dogmatic and simple minded.

Very encouraging, I am pleased. Hopefully in the next few decades the number will increase.
errm this idea of attributing "intelligence" only to people who don't believe the bible is getting farcical.  grin
I will refrain from mentioning specific names but please enough of this charade . . . i don't see that many intelligent people here at all. I simply see the same dogmatic (yes unbelievers too can be dogmatic) bible bashers.

Who's pressuring you? you can believe whatever you want to believe, but as a consequence you must accept the category in which your belief places you. It places you in a category of non-thinkers.
Who is this funny guy?  grin Isaac Newton, Abraham Lincoln and co also fall into the category of non-thinkers?  shocked

Big Star:
Religious faith is the process of non-thinking, that is the dictionary definition of faith. So believe what you may, it's a free country, you can believe in an imaginary teapot orbiting Jupiter or the pink spaghetti monster, it doesn't make is true nor sensible.
If you could "think" you'd know the bible definition of faith is not that simplistic and that it is foolish to go use a dictionary to understand what faith actually means.

Big Star:
As for the last poster - does it mean that anyone who does not believe in your imaginary hell fire is an atheist? hmmm I learn something new everyday.
of course not, it simply means u're a "thinker".

so? that fact that he believes them does'nt make them true does it? carl sagan doesnt and your brain is no match for his left testicle. . . . .
Excellent. My point exactly.
Whether the stories in the bible are true or not is not an issue i would waste my time addressing with people who are too blind to reason outside the box.

My point is proved . . . the frankly disgusting idea that those who believe in the bible are necessarily those with no capacity to think is hereby debunked.

A-Murray and Simon to advance to the semi finals to be joined by Djokovic and Del Potro.

Murray will most likely win the masters.
Christianity Etc › Re: A Question For All Xtains by DavidDylan(m): 6:21pm On Nov 10, 2008
Big Star:
Hi, please i need ulgent answer to this question.

In the holy Quran, there is recognition for every prophet including Jesus and those that are not prophet that claim to be one.
That is simply not true. Where is the "recognition" for prophets like John the Baptist, Elisha, Jeremiah, Micah, Daniel?

One question you shld ponder upon - why is the quran full of ONLY Jewish prophets?

Big Star:
My question is why is the holy prophet Muhammed's name not mentioned in the bible, even if he is a fake one I think the bible suppose to state it.
simply because:

1. The bible was written long before he was born.
2. The bible regards him and his ilk as FALSE prophets . . . in this regard he is mentioned in the bible.

Big Star:
As Quran have it that He is the last prophet, except a guy that will come towards the end of the life which jesus will come and rescue us from him.
The above is islamic gibberish.

Have you tried asking your local imam?

Kenyans do NOT have a bad reputation in Amerikka.

Unlike Nigerians.

By the way, don't be too thin skin - just speaking my mind the way i see it and i do respect your opinion. Also there are different kind of Uncle toms/aunt Jemimas. In this case I mean Blacks who can't accept the achievements of other blacks
Do you have a problem with comprehension? No where was Gamine refusing to accept Obama's "achievement" (what whites take as normal), rather she was asking Nigerian's to focus their priorities on strengthening our own systems.

You put up her post . . . its apparent you didnt properly understand it, where at all did you see a reference to Obama? . . . here was her key point -

Seriously,

I can't take two steps outside my house without hearing Obama, Change.

Even in church Today, The pastor Pastress couldnt make two sentences without

saying Obama, preaching about things we already know we should do

When will we Nigerians set our priorities right and stop looking for Magic performers and Miracle makers.

i spent some time trying to make sense of that too. Eventually i figured she was only trying to jump on the "lets all yab Gamine" bandwagon.
