I really don't understand dis shares or stock thing and how it works.. The point is my Dad buy some shares with some companies (Berger Paint, Eco bank, Vita foam and wema bank) since 2007.. I think some for #5000 and #20000.. How much can we get if we sell this shares now? and how do we go about getting the physical cash..?

If your dad is still alive, simple open an account with a broking firm (prefer www.meritrade.com ), take the share certificate if you have them to the stockbroking firm and you will be advised accordingly.

We know that services generally contribute over 50% of the economy and these companies take a huge share. It can buoy the NSE largely. Do you think they should be forced to list?

Yeah, Seplat is Oil and Gas. The people behind the 'small' bank has the money and are willing to spend it. As for services, well, you can't force anyone but can only lure them with good incentives, which is non-available based on the rating of the market.

Yeah, more companies especially those in the E & P sector plan to list soon, as they have seen the success of Seplat's listing. Even Heritage Bank promises too, after their acquisition of Enterprise Bank tho.

Yes the market gained too much last year. I think it was the best performing in Africa or so. The excess of last year can act as a buffer for this years non performance.
