michaeled45: Needless to say an Accountant cannot even take an Engineers job so why must they render us redundant. Maybe I'm getting something wrong here. I believe this is a conundrum. To all Engineers and technical guys in financial firms, how do u sleep at night?

Lol.. I believe as an Accounting graduate, you need to at least start doing ICAN/ACCA/CFA immediately after school to get relevance in your accounting profession.. It's now so bad that ANYBODY can do these courses. A colleague of mine, whom we resumed together couple of months back and studied Engineering, just passed 4 papers in ACCA, he's now preparing for December diet.

Lol. Quite funny. I believe there is a time-table which has been posted here earlier, so be patient. Its actually favourable to some people, you know. Companies that takes very long time in recruiting definitely have a good package.

@RedBenson, Oceanographers basically have less stuffs to do with deep offshore, say swamps and shallow offshore zones, that is, if the company actually cares about using an oceanographer. They basically work with support vessels, or other sea fearing companies. Oil and Gas sector should be among the last in your list.

masagoody: where does one start telling the story from when you passed out from service in Oct 2012.
remember attending an interview on the 7th of January 2014 and I asked the interviewer if he had any reservations about my application. he said not exactly, but didn't fail to remind me that I have been jobless for 15months.....with a smile though. (looking forward to consulting for them in the nearest future)
to cut the long story short, got a shift job after 17 months and it allows me the luxury of applying for other jobs, and pays me enough to subscribe for BIS. Met ednut1(he posted his experience on the first page) going to work one morning when I was returning from night shift. the guy almost run before I call masagoody of nairaland.
My point....Nothing last forever. don't be completely idle during your waiting period.I was and it wasn't funny. I still got a question about what I did within that 17months of waiting at an interview I attended last month.
For me, its an evolving story and am enjoying it all the way. The one who wrote the manuscript has my utmost good at heart and as such, it can only end up in praise.God bless your hustle!
