A welcomed development. this is the kind of news we need to hear from Nigeria. May God prosper these rice products. we all need to patronise these locally made products to grow our own economy and help our currency add value. This is a product of years of consistent development of the agriculture sector. Kudos to the previous governments who put good plans on ground and to president Buhari for continuity

Its either you didn't read my post and just gave a pre-meditated prejudiced comment or you read it and couldn't comprehend my explanation in simple terms. Let me help u. For those who registered when Chams Plc handled the data capture, their cards will be delayed for months and sometimes years, but anyone that registers with NIMC now (2016), he is likely to get his in a matter of weeks or few months. Am sure the president got his within a week because he is president and because the process is now solely handled by NIMC. did you expect that the presidents card wouldn't be given priority?

To check if your card I ready, simply go to NIMC website and check for your card, there is a section for checking on the website. Mine also took three years before I was able to collect it. Also, they will send u an SMS once its ready. The delay was because of a problem they had with Chams, the IT consultant that handled the registration before, anyone that registers now will get theirs in a short time
PoliticsIGR: 36 States Generates N682bn… 15 Appear To Be Going Bankrupt by davidque007(op): 9:17am On Jun 27, 2016
An investigation by the Economic Confidential has shown that Fifteen States may go bankrupt as their Internally Generated Revenues (IGR) in 2015 were far below 10% of their Federation Account Allocations (FAA) in one year from June 2015 to May 2016.
The report further indicates that the IGR of Lagos State of N268bn is higher than that of 32 States combined together excluding Rivers, Delta and Ogun whose IGRs are very impressive. The 32 other states merely generated a total of N257bn in 2015.
Recently the Economic confidential, an economic intelligence magazine published the total allocation each state in Nigeria received from the Federation Account Allocation (FAA) between June 2015 to May 2016 which signified one year of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
The latest report on IGR reveals that only Lagos State generated more revenue than its allocation from the Federation Account by 150% and no any other state has upto 100% of IGR to the federal largese.
The IGR of the 36 states of the federation totalled N682.67 billion in 2015 as compared to N707.85 billion in 2014, a drop of N25.18 billion or a minus 3.56 percent.
The report provides shocking discovery that indicates that 15 states may go bankrupt and may not stay afloat outside the Federal Account Allocation due to lack of foresight in revenue generation drive coupled with arm-chair governance.
The states that may not survive without the Federation Account due to poor internal revenues include Yobe which generated meagre N2.2b compared to a total of N57.4bn it received from the Federation Account Allocation (FAA) from June 2015 to May 2016 representing about 3.9%. Others are: Zamfara with IGR of N2.7bn compared to FAA of N56.6bn representing 4.8%; Ekiti N3.2bn compared to FAA of N50.460bn representing 6.5%; Borno with N3.5bn compared to N78.7bn of FAA representing 4.5% and Kebbi with IGR of N3.5bn compared to N64.8bn of FAA representing 5.5% within the period under review.
Others poor internal revenue earners are Taraba which generated N4.1bn compared to FAA of N56bn representing 6.4%; Nassarawa N4.4bn compared to FAA of N50.5bn representing 8.5%; Adamawa N4.4bn compared to FAA of N62.2bn representing 7.1%; Gombe N4.7bn compared to FAA of N49.8bn representing 9.6%; Jigawa N5bn compared to FAA of N73bn representing 7%; Bauchi N5.3bn compared to FAA of N72.6bn representing 7.4%; Imo N5.4bn compared to FAA of N71.6bn representing 7.6%; Katsina N5.7bn compared to FAA of N88.8bn representing 6.5 %; Niger N5.9bn compared to FAA of N74.8bn representing 8% and Sokoto N6.2bn compared to FAA of N69.7bn representing 8.9%.
Meanwhile Lagos State retains its number one position in IGR with a total revenue generation of N268.22bn in the twelve months of last year. It is followed by Rivers State N82.10bn, Delta State N40.80bn, Ogun State N34.59bn and Edo state N19.11bn.
However, these five states look good to be on top of the current economic challenges. They are: Enugu, Oyo, Anambra, Akwa Ibom and Kano with N18.08bn, N15.66bn, N14.793bn, N14.791bn, and N13.611 bn respectively.
The Economic Confidential report further showed that the richest northern state is Kano which is the only state from the North to be among the 10 highest IGR earners while the rest are Southern States. The poorest southern State is Ekiti which is the only state from the South to be among the 10 lowest IGR earners while the rest in the category and bottom of the ladder are Northern States.
Meanwhile the IGR of the respective states can improve through aggressive diversification of the economy to productive sectors rather than relying on the monthly Federation Account revenue that largely come from the oil sector.
NOTE:
Please see the attached table on the Ranking of IGR of States in 2015 compared to their Allocations between June 2015- May 2016 with the percentages.

BusinessMicrosoft Buys Linkedin For $26.2B In Cash, As Bill Gates Makes Big Move Into So by davidque007(op): 4:01pm On Jun 15, 2016
Microsoft, today, announced that it is acquiring LinkedIn, the social network for professionals with 433 million users, for $26 billion, on $196 per share, in cash. The transaction has already been approved by the boards of LinkedIn and Microsoft.

LinkedIn is keeping its branding and product. It will become a part of Microsoft’s productivity and business processes segment. LinkedIn’s CEO Jeff Weiner will report to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. Read the letter Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella sent to employees about the buy after the cut:

Team,

I’m excited to share that today Microsoft announced a deal to acquire LinkedIn. You can see how Jeff Weiner, the CEO of LinkedIn, and I envision the opportunity ahead in this public presentation.

This deal brings together the world’s leading professional cloud with the world’s leading professional network. I have been learning about LinkedIn for some time while also reflecting on how networks can truly differentiate cloud services. It’s clear to me that the LinkedIn team has grown a fantastic business and an impressive network of more than 433 million professionals.

Given this is the biggest acquisition for Microsoft since I became CEO, I wanted to share with you how I think about acquisitions overall. To start, I consider if an asset will expand our opportunity — specifically, does it expand our total addressable market? Is this asset riding secular usage and technology trends? And does this asset align with our core business and overall sense of purpose?

The answer to all of those questions with LinkedIn is squarely yes. We are in pursuit of a common mission centered on empowering people and organizations. Along with the new growth in our Office 365 commercial and Dynamics businesses this deal is key to our bold ambition to reinvent productivity and business processes. Think about it: How people find jobs, build skills, sell, market and get work done and ultimately find success requires a connected professional world. It requires a vibrant network that brings together a professional’s information in LinkedIn’s public network with the information in Office 365 and Dynamics. This combination will make it possible for new experiences such as a LinkedIn newsfeed that serves up articles based on the project you are working on and Office suggesting an expert to connect with via LinkedIn to help with a task you’re trying to complete. As these experiences get more intelligent and delightful, the LinkedIn and Office 365 engagement will grow. And in turn, new opportunities will be created for monetization through individual and organization subscriptions and targeted advertising.

Jeff and I both believe we have a significant opportunity to accelerate LinkedIn’s growth and the value it brings to its members with Microsoft’s assets and scale. In fact, when Reid Hoffman, the founder of LinkedIn, and I spoke about the opportunity for us to come together, he called it a “re-founding” moment for LinkedIn and an opportunity to reach the mission the company set out on 13 years ago.

The opportunity for Office 365 and Dynamics is just as profound. Over the past decade we have moved Office from a set of productivity tools to a cloud service across any platform and device. This deal is the next step forward for Office 365 and Dynamics as they connect to the world’s largest and most valuable professional network. In essence, we can reinvent ways to make professionals more productive while at the same time reinventing selling, marketing and talent management business processes. I can’t wait to see what our teams dream up when we can begin working together once the deal closes, which we expect will happen this calendar year.

A big part of this deal is accelerating LinkedIn’s growth. To that end, LinkedIn will retain its distinct brand and independence, as well as their culture which is very much aligned with ours. Jeff will continue to be CEO of LinkedIn, he’ll report to me and join our senior leadership team. In essence, what I’ve asked Jeff to do is manage LinkedIn with key performance metrics that accrue to our overall success. He’ll decide from there what makes sense to integrate and what does not. We know that near term there will be no changes in who reports to whom so no reporting relationships at Microsoft will change in that regard. This approach is designed to keep the LinkedIn team focused on driving results while simultaneously partnering on product integration plans with the Office 365 and Dynamics teams. During the integration, we’ll pick key projects where we can go deep together that will ultimately result in new experiences for customers. Kurt DelBene will lead the overall integration efforts at Microsoft in close partnership with Qi Lu and Scott Guthrie.

I’m on the LinkedIn campus today in California and will host a call for investors at 8:45 a.m. PT with Jeff, Brad and Amy – please join if you can. Following that, I’ll then spend the day meeting with the LinkedIn team. Tomorrow, I’ll host a special Microsoft employee Q&A — I hope you can make it.

So far, what I’ve learned about the LinkedIn team is how much our cultures share many of the same attributes. We both care deeply about individual and collective growth, and find deep meaning in the work we do to make a difference in our world. Together we’ll do just that.

While I’m in northern California sharing our vision to empower professionals, the Xbox team is in southern California at E3 sharing our vision to empower gamers. I encourage you to check out the E3 press briefing, which starts at 9:30 a.m. Pacific Time.

Finally, if you’re not on LinkedIn, join up now and start using and learning more.

CrimeI Condemn Police Inspector General, Solomon Arase. By Pius Adesanmi. by davidque007(op): 12:24pm On Jun 09, 2016
I Condemn Police Inspector General, Solomon Arase.

By Pius Adesanmi.

On Saturday, Chief Raymond Dopkesi, Chairman of DAAR Communications, escaped an assassination attempt. I am happy for the man and his family.

However, his police detail, Sergeant Den Gaius of the FCT Police Command, was not as lucky as the rich, powerful, and privileged private citizen of Nigeria he was assigned to protect.

Sergeant Den Gaius was felled by the assassins' bullets.

I hold the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, responsible for the death of this police officer.

Sergeant Gaius's death is predictably not on the national radar. In the ways of Nigeria, he was an expendable common man.

In the irresponsible habit of the Nigerian state and her officials, we have not even heard an official word about this police officer.

This is one death that the Federal Government and the Inspector General of Police cannot be allowed to greet with perfunctory silence.

The people of Nigeria are entitled to answers.

What, in God's name, was Raymond Dokpesi, a private citizen, doing with a police detail?

Chief Raymond Dokpesi was recently indicted for corruption by this same Nigerian state. He is in fact out on bail.

What kind of society provides a police orderly for a corruption indictee on the degoatification roaster?

These layers of corruption and irrationality have now led to the death of the police officer.

On occasions like this, I feel like shredding my Nigerian passport. How can I continue to lay claim to membership of the human race when my society insists on conduct that our hunter-gatherer ancestors would have found reprehensible?

How can corruption indictees go about in convoys boasting police details?

Who else is undergoing degoatification and still enjoys the privilege of police orderlies supplied by Solomon Arase and the Nigerian state? Olisa Metuh? Dasuki? FFK? How many police officers are on illegal duty in private residences in Maitama, Lekki, Banana Island? How many police officers are on illegal duty in Bourdillon street in Ikoyi?

I understand that some private citizens even enjoy the privilege of having police posted to their country homes even when such homes are empty. This is not a country. She is a zoo.

Solomon Arase must answer for the death of this police officer.

And pox on the Nigerian media! Many of our editors deserve to be lined up at the bar beach and shot for what they are doing to that society. The abdication of responsibility, the complete loss of any understanding of the role and duties of the fourth estate of the realm to society has reached the level of treason. Of all the media reports of this incident, not one raises an eyebrow on the oddity of Dopkesi having a police detail.

They just reported it as a matter of course: Dokpesi escapes assassination, his police detail killed. No questions for Arase. No questions for the Federal government.

We must reject this Nigeria. I cannot see myself as part of a society where corruption indictees and criminals openly enjoy privileges and perks of state. It hurts. It cuts straight to the bone.

We have to make an acceptable Nigeria.

We can start by coming together to hold Solomon Arase accountable. Sergeant Den Gaius must not die in vain.

CrimeInnoson Motors Md To Be Prosecuted By Agf For Forgery by davidque007(op): 9:44am On May 19, 2016
Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) is set to commence the prosecution of a Lagos businessman, Innocent Chukwuma, his company, Innoson Nigeria Limited, and four others named Charles Chukwu, Maximilian Chukwura, Mitsui Osk and Annajekwu Sunny for forgery after being authorized by a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Wednesday.

According to Sahara Reporters, The ruling of the presiding judge, Justice Saliu Saidu, was based on an application filed before the court by Ministry of Justice that the AGF has taken over the prosecution of the accused persons. This was objected to by the prosecutor from the office of the Inspector- General of Police.

But after listening to the submission of the counsel for the two parties, the court decided that the Attorney-General of the Federation should begin the prosecution of the accused persons.

Consequently, the AGF filed an amended four-count criminal charge against the accused persons. To be arraigned alongside the accused businessman are Charles Chukwu, Maximilian Chukwura, Mitsui Osk Lines and Annajekwu Sunny.

In the amended charge (FHC /L/565/C/2015) filed before the court by Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Mohammed Saidu Diri, it was alleged that the accused, between January 2010 and April 2011, at the Apapa Wharf, criminally conspired to falsify shipping documents which they deposited with Mitsui Osk Lines. The documents were used as collateral for the purpose of clearance of polyvinylchloride (PVC ) used in the production of ceilings and other imported items.

Mr. Diri alleged that the accused persons harboured an intention to defraud Mitsui Osk Lines via the falsified documents, which were used as collateral to obtain a loan of N2.4billion from Guaranty Trust Bank Plc.

The loan was for the purpose of clearing of the imported items.

All the alleged offences are contrary to and punishable under sections 3(6),1(2)(C) of the miscellaneous offences Act Cap. M 17 Laws of the Federation, 2004.

Sitting was adjourned till 31st May by Justice Saidu as all the accused persons are due for arraignment.

InvestmentCandy Crush Gets New Owner At $5.9bn by davidque007(op): 1:37pm On Nov 03, 2015
Candy Crush Saga, a match-three puzzle video game is about to be acquired by a new owner.

The deal has been sealed at whopping $5.9bn (£3.8bn).

The new owner, US computer game company, Activision Blizzard, which produces World of Warcraft and Call of Duty, is buying King Digital Entertainment, the creator of Candy Crush.

According to Activision in a statement, the acquisition would make it a global leader in interactive entertainment across mobile, console and PC platforms.

The Call of Duty series is one of the world’s best selling console games, while Candy Crush is among the most popular games on mobile devices and on PC.

Video game publishers are switching from the physical sale of games to digital growth as consumers move from consoles to playing on Smartphones, iPads and tablets.

Activision Blizzard’s chief executive, Bobby Kotick told an online News Agency that the company wanted to broaden its reach and appeal to a larger demographic.

He said that 60% of King Digital Entertainment’s players were female, and that no games console or hardware, besides a smartphone, was needed to access its games.

It will be recalled that Candy Crush Saga was released by King on April 12, 2012 for Facebook, and on November 14, 2012 for iOS, Android, Fire OS, Windows Phone, Windows 10, and Tizen. It is a variation on their browser game Candy Crush.

EducationRe: Pained Nigerians On Twitter Demand That Schools Owned By Churches Must Be Free by davidque007(m): 1:20pm On Oct 24, 2015
I wonder how and what some pastors and many Christians and non Christian reason from a stand point of share ignorance and with a crowd mentality.
Missionary schools in the old days were cheap because the local church had support from foreign partners, every child that had free education in a missionary was being sponsored by the kind hearted Christian abroad who God led to sow financials seeds to help education in Africa. One could say that the education was free only to the recipients but it cost someone somewhere plenty more.
I think its mere stupidity to call for church Owned schools to be free of charge. It means u want to give them low or no standard education to your members. Its costs a lot to maintain a school church or no church. Most missionary schools of old were owned by catholic or Anglican or etc and they all had sponsorship, some still do till today. However, the catholic schools that don't have sponsorship are just as expensive or even more expensive than most private schools.
What the Bible says is that "those who are rich should be benevolent to those who have little". I would advocate for more church sponsorship for the "poor" only, the rich can sponsor themselves.
Most times I hear people insult bishop oyedepo and convenant university. I can say cleary and truthfully that those who just blurt out crap from there bucal cavities are senseless and ignorant. Living church takes care for the poor in their midst, if u know anyone who is poor and isn't catered for in winners chapel, then u have seen someone who isn't a part of the church. The church has scholarship at all levels of education for "poor" church members, widows and orphans (my brother had LFC scholarship during his unversity years). But it must be asertained that that person is a true member of the church-identified from the house fellowship level. Many more welfare packages exist in the church for the poor all year round. Also many church members run support projects on their own.
People just come online and say all kind of nonsense and some foolish people will follow also.
The church can sponsor the poor in their midst, but its institution can't be free till they have sufficient financial support.
