braine:I don't believe in the devil, nor witchcraft..but I do realise evil(bad acts) that increase general pain and suffering...like murder, theft,etc... |
braine:That's the thing,I don't have to believe anything not founded on reason and evidence... Should I just believe dragons exist? Should I just believe fairies exist?... Unverified beliefs closes your mind and distorts it....let's say I start believing in a "higher power"...what then?...should I attribute anything to it?...does it interact in the physical world?...can I prove it to everyone?... The answer is NO,I can't do those things with it because it's a baseless assumption..... |
These are a list of the ideas I once thought of or considered about the Christian god, feel free to contribute yours... #1 How does god manage to be everywhere?... god isn't really at two places at once but "he" is linked with every location......how? If the universe is but a marble to god then god could be linked with everthing by just clasping it in "his loving hands", which "he does".... It may be a state similar to quantum tunnelling where god could be linked to different places.. My current outlook Today I'd be embarrassed by this apologetic.....why? For one it poses a great deal of unknowns....how did I know the Christian god exists?....what reason is there to even speculate about it in comparison to anything?....of what basis can I say it's linked to anything?.... My former apologetic is similar to a conspiracy theory where baseless answers are stacked on each unknown axiom to bandage the question.. #2 Is hell for satan, people or both? Hell was originally meant for satan but the sins of men was so great that people got picked into the list.........how come? Well think of it this way,you have a wonderful kitchen stacked with dried fish and in every/or atleast my kitchen there is a trash can where anything rotten/spoilt goes.... So let's say one day you noticed that one of the fishes was rotten....Well then into the trash it goes....and then you inspect the remaining fishes for signs of decay....any rotten fish qualifies for being disposed of.... So god also inspects "his" children and anything rotten is disposed of and/or secluded from the remaining rotten-free fishes... My current outlook So people to "god" are like dried fish? ![]() Dried fish are liable to decay regardless of your intervention....but following the story of the Christian god we have a situation where god could actually have a place where you could be "rotten-free"(which is heaven supposedly) but stops you from being in such a place....instead it keeps you in a place that will and can make you "rotten"... It's similar to leaving a child blind-folded in the middle of a busy road then whispering the way to safety while all the while reminding the child that he/she has all the free-will to painstainkingly try to decipher those whispers and get the right direction or be run over... #3 The big bang was orchestrated by god My apologetic went like this....the rapid expansion of existence(space-time,matter,etc) from a singularity was orchestrated by god... Though the creation account may not have been arranged properly the key points are there... Matter creation a.k.a creation of the earth, moon,etc... Light propagation a.k.a let there be light... Expansion of space a.k.a the heavens... So therefore the bible follows the big bang perfectly.. My Current Outlook Yet another band-aid.... Honestly speaking nothing truly stops "god/gods" from orchestrating natural events(like a deistic god),but the question is how can you seperate a natural event from a divine one?....if natural events are inseparable from "god/gods" then the Christian god could'nt be possible or atleast not as benevolent as described considering how harsh nature is... Again considering how the big bang was 13+ billion years ago it's not a 6-day event... |
KingEbukasBlog:I thought I warned you to stop inviting me to your topics ![]() And as much as I don't believe in "god/gods" I can't say they/it/he/she.... did/didn't orchestrate evolution without any form of evidence or justification.. |
UyiIredia:Naturally that's true....apart from that I see no reason why they shouldn't have one.. |
If child bearing was his aim he should be aware that homosexuals can have children from a myriad of ways.. |
I was a member... |
vooks:Explain how "god" can make dirt...by magic? |
vooks:lol...again ironically you're insulting your own belief... Is dust not what you're "created" from? ![]() |
vooks:lol.....so you're butthurt? Flintstones believer! ![]() |
An2elect2, if a starving child steals to feed himself is that a sin that'll be worthy of eternal punishment? |
An2elect2:Every iteration of the biblical "god" being merciful is in praises the bible referenced towards it....it's supposed actions in the bible do not reflect those praises... You can hoot being a "christian" all day, it only means you've swallowed the belief and nothing more.. |
An2elect2:If it's "god" that decides what "sin" is and it's repercussion then how isn't it "god's" doing? |
An2elect2:How's about you stick to your own words instead of hiding behind the topic..... Even still, why should there be a need for eternal punishment if by your belief "god" is "all-merciful"? |
vooks:insult me all you like that won't make me start a thread on a non-argument.. |
NumberOne2:Did I blame "god" to begin with? Or merely asked a follow-up question? ![]() Try to keep up with semantics... |
An2elect2:is that why many perished in nepal? Or it's a result of it... ![]() |
vooks:it's a pity.....now you're comparing the "rna-world hypothesis" with creationism... |
By the logic of the above post his disbelief in other "god/gods" is a religion too....so accounting how many religions he disbelieves he'd be practising 5+ million "godless religions" .... ![]() The problem with equivocation fallacies are that they shoot the presenter in the foot... ![]() |
Probably because I have a life outside NL and I've already stated that evolution isn't the origin of life but the progression of it through inherited traits.... |
Following the mythology, noah and pre-jesus characters would be in the alleged mythical place.... |
If a "male god" was the first iteration of existence then how did it know what a female is/was?... ![]() |
Nicklaus:why would a cat think like a human when it's not human? ![]() in case you didn't know dna can be used to trace one's ancestry....it's how we know for certain all humans descended from Africa and how we confirmed our taxonomy among apes(sub-type of apes) thus cross-confirming evolutionary links.... You can check out phylogenetics http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phylogenetics I won't be able to reply for sometime now,my phone is damaged... |
And menesheh....creationism is about using one's belief to rationalize everything....there can be no contradiction if you presuppose you already have all the answers or in creationist logic', you've heard it from someone who's always been there... So since science doesn't claim to have "always been there"...creationists think their beliefs are superior to science ,so no matter what science says the belief must be 100% correct... In situations where science is overwhelmingly against the belief creationist put on "god glasses"( a.k.a confirmation bias) where they screen the topic that's against the belief with their own form of inquiry-"creation science", which is dedicated to apologetics and reinterpretations of evidence to create an illusion that evidences are subject to one's belief... So if you throw something you think is evidence, creationists have been conditioned to take it as your "interpretation" of "the same evidence"....so under creationist interpretation it's still evidence of creation..... It's just like pleatton said, cognitive dissonance....personally I'm not happy about it....It's to me a form of dementia...you can look no further than OLAADEGBU to see what I mean... |
Nicklaus:So the same dna confirmation thaT could mean life or death in a courtroom is vague? |
SNCOQ3:I guess not believing a guy walked on water without evidence is being "one-track" minded....how's about you go pull your head out of your as..ss for once.. |
kay1one2:Its an urban legend.... http://www.hoax-slayer.com/nasa-missing-day.shtml |
vooks:Now you accuse me of spamming? lol,I know you're at your last straw here...so you'll either start lying or insulting to defend young earth creationism.... ![]() |
vooks:lol! This is classic....I asked if it was a scientific consensus that it's been disproved like you claimed and you spin me a story... ![]() And again how is where dirt came from important to evolution? Evolution isn't the origin of life by the way but how it has progressed.... ![]() You can call davidylan and other flintstones believers all you like... and like you they'd be asking unrelated questions over and over again as though that's how one disproves a consensus... |
davidylan:Does any biologist claim that or is that ironically the claim of special creation where matter(which includes rna) is poofed into existence... ![]() |
