ProgrammingHas Anyone Experienced This? by davien(op): 8:48am On Nov 27, 2022
Been learning JavaScript for 3 weeks now and recently I've started to dream about it, it's hard to describe, it's like my brain is speaking the language in my sleep and sometimes I wake up knowing exactly the solution to a problem(doesn't always work). It feels good though I hope no be craze dey follow me slowly oh.
Yesterday I took a short nap and immediately I remembered a JavaScript old input command confirm() and then my mind told me to not use a normal function but a ternary operator and I kid you not that code worked, I even stopped it from normally returning a boolean but a string.

Been reading You don't know JS: Up and going by Kyle Simpson too.

Nobody stops to even think if the wife's story is true, she has killed her husband and all of the comments assume she's saying the truth, are you all so dum-b huh
ProgrammingRe: Is Hardware Engineering Dead In Nigeria? by davien(m): 12:03am On Nov 25, 2022
It's weird you're looking for an embedded programmer because correct me if I'm wrong but aren't you supposed to be as close to the hardware as possible for those jobs?

Even the ones you can do remote you have to be nearby in case of certain edge cases.

They'll most likely be overseas as such a skill would be drastically underpaid here.
ProgrammingRe: Do You Guys Also Experience Headaches And How Do You Deal With It by davien(m): 9:13am On Nov 22, 2022
Same, they disappeared after a while. Your brain naturally doesn't want to veer from what it knows and if you start tasking it with something mentally challenging it would react that way.

Anytime you feel headache, stop. Rest. If you feel refreshed that same day, continue, if not, take a journal and document what you learnt and maybe what how you want to use that in the future or learn next.

It will go away once you make programming a habit.
ProgrammingRe: Is HTML, CSS And Javascript Enough To Get You A Job? by davien(m): 9:09am On Nov 22, 2022
It definitely can, stop the gatekeeping. Obviously you need to be grounded in the fundamentals and then ground yourself on technologies(mostly libraries and frameworks) within those languages.

Since you learnt HTML (learn markdown and bash scripting).

Since you learnt CSS (learn bootstrap, tailwind, SASS, SCSS, LESS, etc).

Since you learnt JavaScript (learn Node.js, React for view management and redux for state management).

HTML, CSS and JavaScript is enough for basic email development and then if you want to go further you can.

RomanceRe: Is There Really Any Point Or Gain In Being A Good Girl? by davien(m): 2:25pm On Nov 15, 2022
Bad girls don't tell you the STDs they're treating behind closed doors.

That man that came on this forum begging God about his genital warts in the health section should be a deterrent but I guess experience is the best teacher.

Medicine for HIV ain't cheap.
Medicine for advanced gonorrhea ain't cheap.
Medicine for Herpes ain't cheap.
Medicine for Syphilis ain't cheap.
Medicine for Chlamydia ain't cheap.
Medicine for Hepatitis ain't cheap.

Complications for all of them even with drugs is terrible, the HIV night sweats and vomiting, the gonorrhea fluid filled rash on your skin and anus, the fever, hot fluid filled bubos on your lips and genitals of herpes, the muscle pain and nerve pain and damage from syphilis, and the rotting away of your liver by hepatitis, the foul smell from BV and thick mucor discharge is also hard to treat and recurrent.

Go be a bad girl.
RomanceRe: Do Stutters/stammers Have Remedies At All? by davien(m): 2:16pm On Nov 15, 2022
Phimzy:
I have never been a stammer all my life..started experiencing this shit from 18 years old

Now I am 22 and it seems to be getting worse,I am also losing my self confidence..i am afraid deppression might set in
huh
It's a loop, stammering makes you self conscious which makes you stammer more which drops more of your self-esteem and keeps you stammering.

There is nothing wrong in being a stammerer, be thankful it's your voice that fails you and not anything physical.
ProgrammingRe: Why You Hardly See Nigerians Teaching About Coding On Social Media. by davien(m): 11:18am On Nov 15, 2022
Lol. But based on your own write-up a programmer should be too busy to indulge in social media.

I still partially agree that the hard work to learn the skill pushes most people away but that doesn't mean there aren't people doing well but aren't showing off or doing tutorials.

Learning never ends in programming, especially when you're financially motivated to do so. grin

I have programmed in so many languages including languages like Haskell and Lisp but I have never written even Hello world in C#

Int a {123};
Int b {321;
cout<< a << b << endl;
Swap(a,b);
cout<< a << b << endl;

undecided
Now push both variables into a single array then use recursion to extract back both values. cool
ProgrammingRe: C++ Is Really Boring by davien(m): 10:43pm On Nov 11, 2022
You have no passion for it that's why.

It's okay to work for the money but it's just that, work , working fuels inspiration.

Here's a challenge.

Initialize 2 variables in C++;

Switch the value of each variable to the next without using if statements or reassigning the variables directly(between each other).

Give yourself a model of things in your mind, learnt this learning JavaScript.

ProgrammingRe: Aside, Media Query In Css How Do I Create A Responsive Website? by davien(m): 12:33pm On Nov 10, 2022
Animegirl:
Alright.

I was told to start using tailwind media query in place of css media query, I don't know how true this is but I will continue to use JavaScript to hide certain elements.
Nice, remember that you can have multiple classes all linked to a single element.

like <header class="heading bold left"></header> <!-- This is the element you're targeting -->

There are multiple classes here to make specificity easier(that's how i do it atleast) because now you can target those classes for whatever element that you also assign them to, like if i wanted something to have the float: left; property i'd assign them the class left and they'd all float left(this is what preprocessors like tailwind and bootstrap make easier to do as they have assigned classes for multiples properties you want for an element.
ProgrammingRe: Aside, Media Query In Css How Do I Create A Responsive Website? by davien(m): 12:08pm On Nov 10, 2022
That's why you build mobile first.

Flex has been my go-to for responsiveness for things like cards, navigation and other elements on the page using properties like flex-wrap: wrap; and putting min-widths to elements.

Though you'll have to become used to media queries, they aren't always avoidable especially the more complex pages get, sometimes you have to hide elements below certain screens or just use JavaScript to delete them.
ProgrammingWhy Are Nigerians Accepting Low Pay In Tech? by davien(op): 11:59am On Nov 10, 2022
I'm sure this question has been asked before, but this time we'll go into the meat of why a capable junior dev in Nigeria deserves #350-500k minimum.

1. For most companies, our products serve millions :
It's crazy that a bank will hire devs and pay them a tiny bit above 6 figures when we secure their infrastructure and meet the demands of customers quickly and seemlessly, those banking apps that login in 3 seconds is the work of a dev making sure those API requests and auth are managed quickly.

2. Nigerias inflation is virtually 40% now :
Nigerian tech companies think the #100k they paid devs 9 years ago is still as valuable as it was today, if inflation is 40% then you have to pay to account for that as even those businesses hike prices to stay above inflation, so it's highway robbery to pay peanuts and eat the sweat of the very people that bring in that money.

3. There is competition :
Tech as a whole is a competitive space, it's why companies incentivize devs with "competitive pay" for their work. If you want devs that stick around and not have apps fail most of the time then pay them a decent wage that encourages improvement.

4. It can get depressing :
Looking at a screen all day then getting paid 100k in a month when a bag of rice is 40k is a depressing reality, not all jobs pay well for the value they provide but the modern world runs on tech and is paid best to account for that.

5. To prevent people leaving :
In tech, the number 1 reason devs leave are for higher pay and a more flexible work-life balance. If you're paid well then there's little reason to leave.

These are my thoughts, I'm not saying every company needs to pay like this but we all know some tech companies in Nigeria are just glorified contractors that slash a zero from the pay they're meant to pay devs(Andela).

Currently there are layoffs going on in tech but if you're a capable dev then you should have no fear of getting hired, surplus money is just being held tightly and spending stopped/lessened to hold off excess inflation.

Honestly you can't go wrong going with JavaScript for backend as you'll have more jobs though I'm seeing Java backend jobs in Lagos for $100k/yr.

RomanceRe: Bad Relationships Have Ruined Us... by davien(m): 2:21pm On Nov 03, 2022
I've learnt to not take women serious, they're never ever in need of your care and that's the honest truth(there's always a sucker who'll bail them out of their troubles).

There are 2 types of men, men who build their purpose in life and men who don't and only 1 of them gets respect for it.

You get no award or even a thank you for helping or catering to ladies, if you like do goody goody two shoes for them na the guy wey no send them them go follow while you chase their az$, like their pics and give them long texts to stroke their egos(while they ignore you).

The moment you start seeing this women as ordinary human beings and not angels is when you grow as a man and strangely attract them as you aren't the 100 guys dying to give her "wow, you're so pretty" compliments 24/7.

Am thinking of marrying from the choir.
Because most choir girls from the choir are always preety and good girls. its rare to see mbgèkè in a church choir.This girls are good husband material too.
Lol, I pity you. Anyway I won't say 100% but most church choir girls/women are coded freaks.
Without any long talk ask yourself what would be the fantasy of a supposed reserved lady? Is it a timid church brother or a wild guy that'll fvrk her brains out before and after service?

Church choir girls I've known and been with and from school collect diq like awards bro, look elsewhere.

Nice work bro, I'm learning JavaScript right now and hopefully should be learning react by February.

One minor critique is maybe make that slider a bit more special with a curved rotation maybe with a transform : translate/rotate property and fade in and out. Something to give it more life.

Private key scam.

They give you private keys with some crypto in it you try to put transaction fee in to withdraw and a contract call withdraws your crypto instead.

Didn't you do hexadecimal numbers in school?
