Dem send una. dis is the second thread on dis same topic. its gud to be curious but u knw what they say.
do u guys want to start your own religion?

we have free will to believe what we want to. The story does not have to compel you.

There are different stories to how man came to be. pick one and roll with it.

Kindly see your question as an expedition you can embark upon. u am sure all the stories have footprints you can follow to get your own truth.
Because you can be convinced of something does not make it true...and adopting certain views can influence your actions towards others...if you adopt a view that human lives are worthless or expendable because you believe in an afterlife made readily for you how would you treat others(hint; like how Christianity and Islam treats non-believers with violence and death threats)...if I were to openly talk of my atheism...what rectum would I get from you christians...death threats?...ridicule?...false diagnosis of mental illness?..

I like to think of as like this:

God is a perfectionist. He makes things imperfect so he can improve on them. What's the point if everything was perfect anyway? God wouldn't have anything to do. Love wouldn't make sense because love is all about overcoming imperfections. So he made Adam and Eve, and they were perfect in our eyes. God doesn't make mistakes, he makes a version that can be improved on. Good could have chosen to make another tribe after Eden. And that's where Cain went.

Adam and Eve were black. By the time the New Testament was over God had used evolution to mutate other ethnicities. When Noah ark survived the flood, his children were all different. Slight ethnicity variations. That was the only way they could preserve human race
I used to have this line of thinking...until questions such as why actively improve designs rather than make the design a perfect one...because each imperfection creates more imperfections and this leads to more harm, death and suffering...imagine if our immune system could fight off HIV/AIDS..wouldn't that be nice? undecided

Okay if there is no God,who created man, animals, ocean, the sky, land, etc. What if there were no humans, animals, ocean, plants, the sky, etc. That there was just total darkness and not a single soul living...
Ask yourself this question then review your post, if there's no god then is anything created or a creation?

A typical couple can produce 2^23 different combinations of offspring.

I still tell you that there is a single human race. Natural selection doesn't change species to another specie rather it sheds off some genes. Adam possesed all genes human kind can ever have. Haven't you heard that mutation doesn't help survival? Mutations are generally dangerous. About 0.5% of mutations have no adverse effect.

I still believe natural Selection shed of dark skinned genes from humans in Europe to help absorb vit d, shed off light skin genes in Africa due to the intense sunlight, etc. Resulting in gene pools that we have made racial pools.
It's not the amount of combinations, it's the repetition of them...if adam had all the gene combinations then he'd be the first to die...as he couldn't have any other mix... grin

If you want to know how true the christian creation story is, get two rabbits and watch them breed with themselves indefinitely....by the time you reach the 5th generation you'll have your answer(if they make it that far)..

That's just basic biology...if you're still not satisfied then you can go to a farm and ask the farmer if he can breed striped cows by allowing black cows breed next to striped trees..
The bible fails in biology greatly and if you support and/or adopt it as a biology textbook then be ready to fail biology...

Good, now you get my point: Man is a deity. Some have been and are still been worship.
To be "worshipped" does not relate to being a deity, and even then it seems you loosen definitions to fit anything you like into that category...

If a deity is all about being praised....then notable praiseworthy concepts like humanism, pragmatism, realism etc are also deities which we all "worship" undecided

And since you agree to "worship" some notable concepts you have violated your christian commandment to not "worship" or "idolize" other things separate from the christian god.......shooting yourself in the foot grin

Man is a believer irrespective of your views. Our daily lives requires beleif (conscious or unconscious).
Belief that your neighbour is NOT a serial killer, or your Doctors prescription will work. Belief that the plane pilot is NOT a psycho that will crash the plane.
A belief is a positive reaffirmation, not a negative one....and it relates to believing things that have no evidence...

If there is no evidence of your neighbour being a serial killer then would you hold a "belief" he is one?...

And I'd like to point out that you're performing linguistic gymnastics as belief is synonymous to a host of other definitions not affiliated to faith like accept or a hunch(when used in certain contexts)...you are misusing the term....making it another equivocation fallacy...

I didn't speak of worship. The Devil is a deity, so are Angels as well as Man. I don't worship them. You need not worship them BUT you need not deny their existence (deities).
You can call them whatever you feel like as long as you give discrete reasons....now what is the definition of a deity that makes human beings fall into the same category with magically inspired entities?

P.S: Leave your "Done away with" argument. It is a false claim. The stats YOU posted shows it.

Atheism is absurd because it doesn't believe in deities but there are over 7 billion of them on this planet.
what "stats", did I post any stats?...arguing with x atheist and responding to y atheist is pure dishonesty and shows the depth of your position...
And to set the record straight....give us the defining bar that makes human beings deities... smiley

Yeah OP, in addition, the Atheist thinks that the World will be a better place without beliefs in God.
They fail to understand that there is NO VACUUM in NATURE. If we push God out, Man (or something) will become God.
We can see that evident in society today. Men playing God. [Animal Farm - George Orwell] lovely book.
Man himself is a Deity. A lack of belief in Deities (Man or God) is just absurd.
There are a lot of misconceptions in your argument...

god/gods have never been identified to play a part in natural processes(nature)...so how could one push or exclude what's not there from nature?... undecided

It is the belief in this absent and unseen so-called "supernatural" entity that needs to be excluded... because it lacks any method of proving/disproving it...which is necessary if it has become a placeholder for people's actions and interactions with each other(or morality)...

I wouldn't want to base my moral perspectives or my thinking faculties on something that isn't based in reality, especially when it encourages one to accept it at face value...that would be gullibility and stup.idity..

And if you truly considered a lack of belief in god absurd then why carry only one belief?...isn't that special pleading?...
If you accept that a lack of belief in a supernatural entity is absurd why seclude yourself to one belief only?...what makes your lack of belief of other religions god/gods sane and not absurd? undecided

And if you want to say I'm my own god for disbelieving in god/gods,then I'll be content knowing that I actually show and express more empathy towards fellow human beings than yours is described to be in the bible....

Easily demonstrated by me using my brain to ask a simple moral question like "why couldn't your god just forgive Adam and eve, sparring everyone suffering?"

And in this small question...the biblical story(if it's in any increment true at all)have been shown to be morally bankrupt.. smiley

Christianity Etc › Re: The Law Vs. Legalism by davien(m): 4:54pm On Jun 15, 2015
OLAADEGBU:
You don't need to confuse "kind" with "species" because they are different. A species is a man made term used in the modern classification system. The Bible uses the the term "kind" in Genesis chapter 1 when God created plants and animals "according to their kinds." A scientific experiment has to be repeatable and we see that plants and animals produce within the boundary of their kinds up to this day. Evidence to support this concept is what we see clearly today as there are no reports of dats (dog + cat) because they are animals of a different kind. If two animals can breed together then they are generally of the same kind.
Good,so lions and tigers are the same "kind" then?... grin

The problem with this biblically derived classification scheme is that,it is not very detailed as a biological classification....

For example,sub-species that are geologically separated which can no longer successfully breed with other populations would have to be considered different "kinds"...

Read Genesis chapter 1 where you will find the animals were created "according to their kinds."
I asked for an experiment validating said term, not a reinterpreted passage from the bible...

As I said earlier, if 2 animals can breed together then they are most likely of the same kind. Lions and Tigers are of the same Cat family (Felidae) and can produce Ligers and Tigons respectively.
That's very good....now since lions are tigers are the "same kind" and can produce "ligers and tigons",then why can't those same ligers and tigons produce after their own "kind"?

If a scientist views the earth with biblical glasses he would come to the conclusion that it is about 6,000 years old but if he uses the glasses that is based on human reasoning alone he would wrongly conclude that it looks old.
A subjective view is one thing,a result based on experimentation and objective evidences is another.....

why should a scientist base any observation from biblical interpretation?...when biblical interpretation labels bats as fowls, cattle being able to give birth to striped offspring and stars being able to be trampled on,when we know for certain that those things are wrong?...would such person be a scientist or a charlatan?

undecided

God who created the earth was an eyewitness to the creation event and He recorded the truth that it is a young world created about 6,000 years ago and it only looks old because it is the destroyed remains of the original earth God created and is still marred by the subsequent Curse.
How do we come to this conclusion?
If you simply accept the bible as an account of truth then the problem now becomes how do you validate the bible through your fallible human senses....even then the bible has passed through fallible human reinterpretations...how do you know you're not guilty of it?
Christianity Etc › Re: The Law Vs. Legalism by davien(m): 10:46am On Jun 15, 2015
OLAADEGBU:
If you are talking about creationism then that is an ideology but creation science confirms what we have in the Bible. The book of Genesis tells us everything was created by God and this evidence is what we see today we do not see evolution.

Every creature was given the ability to reproduce after its own kind, is that not what we see repeatedly today? Dogs do not produce cats as Darwinian evolution teaches neither do dogs evolve into cats perhaps you've been led to believe that poodles are cats. tongue

Dogs began as dogs and are still dogs. They vary in species from Chihuahuas to Saint Bernards, but you will not find a "dat" or a "cog" (part cat/dog. wink
wow...again, the question is can you give me one experiment that verifies creationism....
Or I'll be specific....an experiment that concludes or concedes that ;

A classification scheme such as a "kind" exists...

Said kinds were products of divine creation..

Why said kind like tigers and lions can reproduce something viable when they aren't supposed to bee related as claimed by creationism..

How the earth is 6000 years old....

Can you do that? undecided
