My first argument or proof is the cosmological argument:

1. Whatever begins to exist has a cause.
2. The universe began to exist.
3. Therefore, the universe has a cause
4. That first cause is God

They say 1+1+1=1. Or the Smarter ones say 1×1×1= 1.
These stories and rebranded myths of multiple gods in one have been around for too long. Also, myths of the deification of men after death dates even far back than Sango in Yoruba Mythology.

They tell you that 'God Y sent God Z to die for mankind so that man can be redeemed'. The first question a rational mind should ask is "Why does a God need death/blood before he can forgive his feeble creations?' Couldn't he simply forgive, just the way nice people do without demanding blood?

Now a summary of many a preaching is this: God sent Jesus to die for us so that we might not perish (in the hell that he created). Jesus' blood was offered as a sweet smelling sacrifice to God (of course, not to the devil) to make God forgive us. And then also, Jesus is one and same with God.
The above, to many adherents of the faith, makes sense.
I'd explain to you why this is worse than accepting that 2+2=5, as soon as I'm back from the market.

I'm back from the market and I'd rephrase the above summary of what many preach. It goes thus:

First, since Jesus=God, we substitute the word 'Jesus' for God in the summary making it read as follows:

Does the above still make sense to you?

Another analogy of the above is this: A father is angry at his children, so he makes his children's playmates kill him. Then he takes his blood, and offers it to himself as a sacrifice, so that he is now able to forgive his children and not burn them for eternity in a celestial oven.

Does the above still make sense?
Is 2+2=5 ??
Well, adherents might choose to accept the above by faith. I have one question for you.

"At what point does blind belief stop? Is it when they now tell you that it's no more 2+2=5 that it's 2+2= $500 ??

Because, as long as you can believe one bullshit because it's written in a book ( a book gathered from different ancient scrolls, passed through the hands of politicians worse than Abacha, and says in one of it's verses that 'Women should not speak in church') then you can believe anything that jet-flying charlatans bring to the pulpit.

My say: Re-examine your beliefs, demand for extraordinary evidence when shown extraordinary claims, don't accept that 2+2=5!!

Objects at rest remain that way unless acted upon by a force. In this case: The atoms of the universe. Gases expand naturally, but with forces. There has to be a force that set the expansion for the big bang. what is it?

The second law states that entropy of a closed system always increases. This means that eventually, the universe will flatten out to an omega state, when the entropy reaches maximum. Every effect must have a cause. The universe had a beginning, therefore there must be a cause to it.

Cell theory

All cells can only come from preexisting cells through division. A cell cannot come about by other processes like Abiogenesis (according to cell theory).
NOTE: Abiogenesis is NOT a theory. It's a set of hypotheses.

The law of conservation of energy

Energy cannot be created or destroyed, but is conserved and changes form. However, the energy in the universe must have come from somewhere according to the law of causality. but from where?

atom does have mass. its a structure made of electrons, protons, neutrons, and any more atomic materials, every one of them do have mass

all these are object with single point masses from smallest to largest
for example mass of a Hydrogen atom is 1.00794 amu
this is the lightest of all known atoms.
a hydrogen atom is actually 1 proton (1.0073 amu) + 1 electron (0.00055) + 0 neutron (1.008665),
and 1 amu (atomic mass unit) = 1.66053886 × 10^-27 kilograms

Sincerely, coming to Nairaland religion section as a christian or believer in God exposes one to a lot of shocking anti-religious sentiments, especially from atheists. I was even surprised to find out that we have satanists in Nigeria.


Even before coming to nairaland, I had some challenges with my faith. One of the strongest challenges to my faith was reading the sentiments of my fellow American writers. I used to write for an American website and my editor had a strong dislike for religion. He complained that religion was poisoning American politics because they elect useless politicians who use their faith as a campaign strategy. He also mentioned the problems of teaching nonsense like creationism and the christian foundation of America to children. This was my boss and I had to endure all his rants. Some of the things he said were actually true, for instance, the christian support for Sarah Palin was strong- and Sarah Palin is a joke that almost became Vice president of the USA.


Another thing that recently challenged my faith was the movie "interstellar". The movie is about space and how man is trying to find a hospitable planet due to the fact that earth would soon be inhospitable. The disturbing question that was in my mind after the movie was; WHAT ABOUT ABOUT OTHER EARTH-LIKE PLANETS- WHAT WOULD WE SAY IF WE FOUND ALIENS/HUMANS AT THE OTHER END OF OUR UNIVERSE?

I also had a another question about space and time. I wondered why God never mentioned such things to us that could be helpful. It took us humans thousands of years to find out many things about space. We didnt know that there were other galaxies, we didn't know that the universe is so vast and that time is relative.




Notwithstanding, I still believe in God. We don't know what lies beyond our universe and the bible tells us that God's time is the best. I believe that God is the patient father watching his children from behind the curtains as they learn about their environment with their toys; God is silently watching us learn about our universe with science.

I've been where you are standing now, in the end you just end up isolating yourself from others and allowing other people put the devil on you.
