FXKing2012: How can sharing be done based on contribution when in many cases the man insists his wife stays home to take care of the kids. This is very common in Nigeria.
Now when the woman is forced to be a full housewife, where do you expect her to get the money to contribute from?

Besides, contribution should not be restricted to money alone, women/wives contribute in so many other ways such as providing emotional and psychological support/balance for the kids and husband; she contributes by taking care of the kids and doing home chores. Try calculating the monetary value of these activities by the wife and u will see that the wife contributes so much to developmental projects.

PS: A man can not buy land and build houses if he's not emotionally and psychologically balance, and guess who provides that balance - the wife.
Utter tripe. So when you want to buy a house its emotional balance you would present to the seller that would make him sell the house to you?

Oh Are we saying Single men are not buying houses? So who provides them with the emotional and psychological balance to buy the house?

Since the woman has the psychological balance, why cant she monetize it and carry it to realtor to buy the house?

Personally I dont see the point in being a housewife and most women who are housewifes are simply lazy. There are millions of women in offices in markets making a living Dont those have families?

Most women who are housewives dont have any skill to make money in the first place. How many times has a neurosurgeon been asked to be a housewife or a Lawyer, Engineer etc. Its only the lazy ones who end up being housewives. Okonjo no be woman? Grace Alele Williams, Bolanle Awe are those not women? Dont they have families

If you spend your own money buying clothes and shoes then you want to split the house someone bought with his own money he too could have been using for clothes and shoes then YOU ARE A THIEF

FXKing2012: Yes most men dont spend so much on clothes but many men spend their money drinking beer in bars and carrying/chassing girls all around town while the women toil to cater for the kids and homes?
men spend their money buying beer and chasing girls yet still have enough to build houses. So whats the womans income going towards?

A woman tried to burn down the house of a long-time friend who defriended her on Facebook, police say.

Jennifer Christine Harris, 30, of Des Moines, Iowa, has been charged with first-degree arson and is being held in the Polk County Jail.

Harris allegedly tried to torch the home of old friend Nikki Rasmussen while Nikki and her husband Jim were sleeping.

The fire broke out in a detached garage at 1am on October 27 at the Rasmussens' home, officials said.

An Illinois woman faces an aggravated domestic battery charge after burning the skin off of her boyfriend’s testicles while running him over with a car, prosecutors said.

Christine A. Meyers, 23, of the Chicago suburb Tinley Park, allegedly picked up her boyfriend from a bar this Friday night and started arguing with him.

When they reached the house the share on South Ridgeland Avenue, the boyfriend got out of the car, walked in front of it, and splayed out on the ground.

Meyers responded by allegedly driving over him.

The cause of the argument was not detailed.

Court records detailed that Meyers cause him severe burns on his chest and back when she ran over him, as well as suffering burns that tore the skin from his testicles, which requires surgery to properly repair.

Attorney Tom Ost asked judge Adam Bourgeois Jr. to set bail at $6,000 which would require her to only post $600 to leave.

‘Are you serious?’ Bourgeois retorted. ‘You’re asking me to set a bond of $600 for driving over somebody? That is the charge.’

Then the judge set bail at $100,000.

‘People argue every day, and they don’t resort to violence,’ Bourgeois said.

davidylan: shocked shocked how do men put up with such violence?
One guy didnt come home on time by the time he came at 2-3am the wife locked him out following morning they started arguing he picked his car keys to run the girl used her own car to bash his own so he wouldnt move

Because she was ANGRY

You havent seen women in their element when they claim to be angry. Havent you heard of women who torched her boyfriends house and car at that moment

ileobatojo: Wait! You mean the police didn't immediately throw him in jail, lock him up, publish his name in the newspaper and cause him to lose his job?! Shock! Horror! Do these Western law officials not do their jobs anymore?!!
First time it happened he fled the house before the cops came else na inside jail most accusation of child molestation, rappe or domestic violence the man gets taken away first

nwando: Some women are pure evil
A relative of mine married one
The woman will a give herself a black eye and ask the kids to say their dad did it,she will call police and my cousin would end up in jail
For the love of his kids, this man stayed and tried to make it work
till one day in the heat of her madness she took a knife and stabbed him and stabbed herself and called 911 and the kids this time around told on her and she went to jail and he finally had the courage to move on with his life
Had the kids gone along with her,the man would have been languishing in prison now.
Of course some lawyer got her out after serving a short term,he would not have been that lucky
A friend was involved with one, They were arguing , she just said "See what I would do to you" ran to the home pphone dialled 911 and she started crying that the guy has almost killed her.

When police came she showed them the Omorogun (turning stick for Amala that he uses it to beat her.

After like 3 fights it was a Hispanic police officer that advised the guy to separate else the woman would land him in trouble.

After separation one day she called the guy 62 times back to back he didnt pick, Later the police called the guy that they received a report from Sharon that he was stalking her and the guy went to the police station to show his phone with 62 missed call from the woman. The police just told him to avoid her

ronkebp: he did now. he tried by having alcohol in the fridge that he knows his wife will find, and also buying phones he clearly knows his wife would break. why he never fought to keep his kids still beats me.Hmmmmmmm!!!!!
You know in most custody battles the woman wins 85% of the time especially with kids under 10, Girls for that matter.

Unless the wife is a junkie there is no way she wouldnt get custody

Infact where is Kobojunkie, I have missed her
Family › Re: Should He Fight For Custody Of His Kids?? by dayokanu(m): 3:20am On Jan 15, 2013
nwando: You forgot to add that according to the OP,the alcohol allegation was just one of several
The woman is evil
He needs to distance himself from her or else jail is his next destination
A woman that already reports that he has alcohol in his fridge even though that didnt stick, How long would it be before she files a case that would stick to him and send him to jail?
Family › Re: Should He Fight For Custody Of His Kids?? by dayokanu(m): 3:16am On Jan 15, 2013
ronkebp: Shebi is when he has tried to get into the kids life and failed, that we will see a possibility of jail terms here, he did not try at all....(as according to the poster) to the point that she had to ask him why he was not visiting his kids irrespective of the problems on ground.
Did you read that went the kids came to visit him the wife quickly went to report that he had Alcoholic wines in his fridge while the kids were around? Why would a woman report her ex has wine in the fridge if not to put him in Jail? So you want him to continue so the woman can accuse him of child molestation for hugging his daughters too tight?

Did you read that he bought the kids phone to contact him which the wife promptly destroyed?

You mean he hasnt tried enough and until he lands in jail before he actually tries
Family › Re: Should He Fight For Custody Of His Kids?? by dayokanu(m): 3:02am On Jan 15, 2013
logica: Ol' boy, there is no better place to bond with your children than the yard of a prison in the US of A. I tell you! There you can picnic and roll on the prison floor with the kids. Heck, you can even teach them how to respect fellow human beings without saying a word; all they have to do is watch how tough inmates kick your butt and fvck you in the a$$.
Raising kids in Jail must be a perfect bonding opportunity
Family › Re: Should He Fight For Custody Of His Kids?? by dayokanu(m): 2:54am On Jan 15, 2013
ronkebp: So to you, sending money to your children will make up for those little times you spend with your children? especially having the opportunity to watch them grow? the money will be the listening ears they will need when they have one complaint or the other? the money will take them to games and even a time to roll on the floor with your kids? the money will be the one to scold them when they are wrong? the money cannot take the position of either parent in the life of those children, so no matter the millions that was sent, it would be acknowledged by their mother only, all the kids want is their father and mother.
So how would he get into the kids life without getting into jail in the process?

Or going to jail is part of the deal?
Spousal support works both ways. If one spouse is better off than the other, and a break in the union will cause sudden hardship. Then the less privileged spouse should get something. It is only logical and rational Dayo. Not matter how hard you try you cant explain it away. Want to minimize your damage? Find a woman who earns close to what you do or even more. So that she pays you cheesy
It can never happen to me cause I would never marry such woman to start with

The solution to hardship is hardwork. If you are less privileged then marriage shouldnt be the way out for you.

Why cant everyone eat the work of their hand
haba Dayo, i probably can open a boutique with my clothes, but i bought it with my money. Women's clothes are waaaay cheaper than mens. As i buy for me, i also buy for my man. He is like my father, so i buy for him so that when we step out he will not embarrass me. Clothes are not first priority to him, so i cover that area. For men it can be electronics or other things that they fancy. They buy those too at an alarming rate. Are we to use that to somehow make excuses?
Open a boutique in 2012 with your used clothes? Or the LACE that was in vogue in 2003?

Its the same salary she is spending on clothes another guy would piece together in 15yrs he would have 2 houses while the woman has several wardrobes and she would open her mouth and say lets share the properties

Why are women so against take whatever you bought with your money. if its clothes take it, If its houses take it. if we build a house together and you contributed 30% we can sell it and I would give you 30% of the proceeds SIMPLE
That is not true. My mum owns capital projects she built. It is people like you that will come and fight a widow thinking she contributed nothing, because she is a woman. Only to be disgraced with documents. Because women dont shout so men would not be mocked, doesnt mean they are incapable of owning their own things.
We have seen several times on here where the woman comes to complain that her husband asks her to contribute to capital projects or finances in the house.

There are few women here and there who do it but most Naija women just fold their hands saying its the mans job
Family › Re: Divorce Settlement And Child-Support Be Introduced In Nigeria? by dayokanu(m): 11:13pm On Jan 14, 2013
Dayo, you have too much of a traditionalist and simplistic view of women. Which i think is too far fetched. A lot of women contribute seriously to building their families and are thrown out. I even know women who actually own the money and the properties, but put it in the hands of the man so that society will not laugh at him. In the end they lose it all. You cannot with a straight face say a woman contributes nothing. Its not even possible. Why then does a man live a will for his wife and kids? You might as well share it amongst your family, friends and girlfriends.
Its not a simplistic view its what happens its the reality. Go to any mall its the women who buys all the clothes there all the shoes and jewelries, I know several naija women who would tell you they cant wear a cloth twice.

I knw one who got to a party saw someone wearing the same thing and went to change. Most Naija women have 3-4 wardrobes filled with clothes Where did they get the money to buy them from?

Its the same salary she is spending on clothes another guy would piece together in 15yrs he would have 2 houses while the woman has several wardrobes and she would open her mouth and say lets share the properties

There might be some exceptions but in most Naija family its the guy who does 100% of the capital expenses.

If youre in America Watch this show called Princess on CNBC every saturday at 9pm CST about women who spend every thing they have and ever credit cards buying clothes shoes and jewelries. How many men are ever on the show?

2legit2qwt: Dayo has a point about some Nigerian women and their mentality when it comes to finances at home.

I personally think that a lot of things have to change before Nigeria starts thinking of introducing alimony into marriages.

Prenuptial agreement is needed first with all the gold diggers around grin
Ask around how many Naija women contribute financially to any capital project?

Have you gone to any market or mall and see how women spend their money? Yet they would come later and say lets share the house the man bought
Family › Re: Divorce Settlement And Child-Support Be Introduced In Nigeria? by dayokanu(m): 11:01pm On Jan 14, 2013
Dayo, do i smell a new POV? cheesy. I think sharing should be based on what was acquired during the length of the marriage. Child support should be for Children out of wedlock. But in the case of a divorce, yes, i support a settlement. Whatever was acquired during the union especially if kids are involved should be shared equally. cool
I have always maintained that assets JOINTLY acquired should be shared. Its fraud for a woman to contribute to building a house or buying a land and she is chased away empty handed.

What is acquired by who? The wife use her money to acquire laces and chains, the Husband use his money to buy house and land

So why should they be sharing the house upon divorce?

Settlement of what? You only settle when you contribute to it. You use your money to buy makeup, clothes and jewelries then take it away with you and the guy who used his own money to buy house and land should also take it away SHIKENA
