edoyad: Tell me exactly what did RVP do wrong? A young boy of about 20 years joined Arsenal at a point in history when even Barca and Madrid wanted to play like us, now even Swansea have more purposeful ambitions.

Look, this thing is simple, Arsenal now considers qualifying for UCL as a trophy, fine. But we shouldn't expect everyone to buy that bull crap, cos that's what it is. Bull Crap. Not every one is Francesco Totti, people with exceptional abilities like to see their effort yielding results.

There's still a video of an exceptional teenager on YouTube, whose dream was to play either for Arsenal or Barca. Mind you, he mentioned Arsenal first. This was around 2002 thereabout. How many teenagers feel the same way a decade later. The young man in question was RVP.
Did you hit your head on the wall or how come you are suddenly sensible

coogar: how can you come up with such nonsense on a public forum? badstuber is capable of playing in the LB position. he's like heinze - who can play as a centre back or as a left back. as a matter of fact, badstuber played that position the last time united and bayern clashed in 2010! how can you then open your mouth and compare to vidic who has never played as a full back?
Badstuber doesnt have the necesary tools to be a LB. Full backs are usually shorter, nimble and speedy with above average dribbling skills(Alves, Lahm, Evra, Cashley, Rafael, Roberto carlos etc). Badstuber doesnt have this, he cant dribble at all, slow, giant and clumsy. He played it vs United because we had no option. Heinze is a very fast CB. Boateng is fast as a CB thats why he can play RB. A speedy CB can play LB but not a slow one. Vermalean is a fast CB thats why he can play LB and not Per Mertersacker. Same with Puyol

In most cases when wingers put Badstuber to the race he would hack them down. Remeber the scene vs Nani in the Euro when even as a CB he was caught on the wing vs Nani and he did the respectful thing hack him.

He can play LB but dont expect overlapping runs and nimble full back roles

Nigerians are just bullies imagine a boy maybe struggling with his GPA in school telling a 4yr old girl she is not smart

Greatgod aka OluwaTobi I want to say you dissapointed me small wink wink wink.

Na that kain oponu BIL me I dey like. Being the sharp mouthed Yoruba person I am I would so yab that BIL that he would almost commit suicide

You for first ask him for his WAEC result, and his GPA in school. and bring your daughters school grades. I am certain your daughter was doing better in her school than the dunderhead BIL. Ask him why upon his "sharpness he isnt the best student in MIT, Oxford or even UNILAG or Ife? despite all the money the family has invested on his education?

That everyone has been shy to tell him that he is the dullest person in the whole family and there is a theory that he might have been switched at birth cos his dullness in unmatched in the family tree. In advanced countries he would have been categorized as a reetardd or "Children with Special needs"

Its mostly ppl who cant match their peers that pick on perceived inferior people.

I wont be surprised if the BIL is on academic probation in his school. Nonsense

Are you considering that Badstuber all seaso has been played out of position? Badstuber is slow and played as a LB a position that requires speed. Its like playing Vidic as a RB

Robben showing up at big stages? Have you suddenly forgotten 2010? Old Trafford, Florence when we were on our way out of the competition?

I cant stick out my neck for either though I think Muller is the future but I think we can still get som magic out of Robben

I also think Muller is more dangerous in the role behind the striker currently occupied by Kroos cos Muller can ghost in

I think they can all be rotated Muller, Robben, Ribery, Kroos an Shaqiri

I think almost everything in life is on the personality

Blaming upbringing and parent is IMO a cheap cop out

We have siblings who have exactly opposite behaviours. one responsible one a completely irresponsible individual.

Most people from the age of 10 above know whats right from whats wrong. So your decisions are left to you.

We have ppl born and raised by Priest who turned into prostittutes and drug dealers while we have ppl raised by Junkies who became excellent individuals

it was a decision he made with the clock winding down that really irked Sir Alex.

Rather than take the ball into the corner flag in the dying seconds of normal time with his side in front, Nani attempted to beat a player but ended up losing possession.

That error allowed Chelsea one final counterattack, from which they would win the penalty that Eden Hazard went on to score, sending the game into an additional 30 minutes, where the Blues’ extra experience and firepower would prove decisive.

“We gave the ball away for the third goal when we had complete control of the match,” said Sir Alex. “All we needed to do was see the game out and keep possession. Nani decided to try and beat a man and lost the ball, and then it was a penalty kick.

“Nani is experienced. He’s an individual, he is a player who wants to beat men and we are not going to discourage that but in that situation if he had kept the ball in the corner flag, the game is over.”

For Sir Alex to single out Nani may appear harsh, especially when there were numerous defensive errors on show and bearing in mind he had scored a key goal himself, but patience with the ex-Sporting Lisbon man is wearing thin amongst the club’s coaches - not just with the fans on the terraces, who have been critical for some time.

The Wilson invitation, Haffner said, came after the Commonwealth Ministers Conference which took place in Nigeria the week preceding the coup.

Ironsi, he said, also allowed people like Francis Nwokedi, a onetime Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs and his colleague, one Eneli, to mislead him. Ironsi, he said, had the nail in his coffin when he, in a nationwide television broadcast, declared Nigeria a unitary military state.

He also questioned why people of Eastern origin such as Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe, Dennis Osadebey, and Michael Okpara were spared. In Azikiwe‘s case, he supported his assertions by making references to a write-up in The Guardian of May 18, 1999 written by Kafundu Ajuluchukwu in which Ajuluchukwu alleged that Azikiwe was warned by Major Emmanuel Ifeajuna, his nephew; and one of the brains behind the coup.”

When a player asks me which league is best for his development I tell him the Bundesliga and the La Liga are the best leagues in the world. I'm happy that many of my players play in the Bundesliga because that will improve them. I said to van der Vaart and Afellay it was good for them to move to Germany.

Whether it's Ajax, Barcelona, Alkmaar or the Dutch national team - I always returned as a coach for a second time. It would be nice to return to Bayern. I had a very good time, introduced a new brand of football and I will never forget the people that work at the club.

Unfortunately many people only remember the negative things. The only person at the club who always threatened my departure was Uli Hoeness, no one else. That's why we could never work together again. I know what Uli Hoeness means for the club. It was him that turned the club into what it is today, not Beckenbauer, Breitner or anyone else. But I am of the opinion that it's never good that power is concentrated so much on one person like Uli Hoeness at a big club like Bayern. For me and my work he wasn't good. The President doesn't know what's going on inside the dressing room or on the training pitch, that's why he shouldn't interfere.

I expected the players not to support me. At Bayern there is a structure at which form the presidency all the way down to the trainer everything can be influenced by the president. Uli has a lot of power and he uses it. Even the board can't go against him. Franz Beckenbauer never did that. I want to thank Karl-Heinz Rummenigge for fighting for me for a long time.

I wasn't surprised that Nerlinger had to leave the club. I worked with him and knew under how much pressure he was from Hoeness.

The truth is, although Mr Hoeness says something different, I also wanted Neuer. My plan was to keep Kraft to provide competition for Neuer. Bayern were forced to buy another goalkeeper which wouldn't have been necessary if it went my way.

In my opinion the old problems have returned to Bayern: buy, buy buy.
After my departure no youth player has made it to the first team squad. And the whole world speaks about the relevation at leftback David Alaba. But I played him for the first time.

Lahm and Schweinsteiger are the captains, both took on responsibility during my time. Müller and Badstuber belong to the team's top performers. They all are former youth players. That's important at such a club! These players carry the culture, they represent the club.

[About Hoeness's comments towards Gomez]: You should never do that with Mario Gomez. He's very sensible, like most strikers. I'm sad to see what's happening to Mario. He worked so hard to become a better all-around striker. He rightfully got the starting spot in my second year and won the golden boot.

I never told him to leave the club. I said to the board there's too much competition and pressure among our three strikers and they can't deal with that. That's why I recommended to part ways with one of them. I left it open to them if it was Klose, Olic or Gomez. Olic was the one who could deal with pressure the best. Klose is a type of striker that best fits my system. But Mario was on a good way. We worked with him individually and he improved a lot. People believe I thought of Gomez as a bad striker. The truth is he developed into a good striker under my spell.

I always pointed out that Bayern should learn from Barcelone's game and system. Guardiola would fit in well, but I'm not sure if Mr Hoeness would be happy about it.
I'm sure Guardiola would play with a striker if he didn't have Messi."

Van Gaal interview below

LvG:

"I know that Germany plays the same system I introduced at Bayern. Bayern still does. And believe me: I remember all those arguments I had with Uli Hoeness when I moved away from the 4-4-2.

The German national team plays my system, but in the end individual players make the difference. Germany has a lot more worldclass players than my team, that's why they are the favorites in the upcoming game. Neuer, Lahm, Schweinsteiger, Khedira, Özil, Klose, Gomez, Müller, Podolski, Badstuber - those are big players.

I think Jogi Löw is doing a very good job, the criticism is not justified. Games like against Sweden happen to any coaches. When I was at Barcelona we once lead 3-0 over Valencia and then lost the game in the last quarter of the match. Players think the game's already won and lose concentration, there's not much you can do about that. Substitutions won't change that.
I don't agree with Löw's tactical decisions against Italy though. I think they weren't good for the team. But that's always difficult to say from the outside.

I watched the Germany-Netherlands game at home and I have to admit that two hearts were beating in my chest. I was almost more a fan of the German team, there were just too many players on the field that were close to me.
Mark van Bommel noticed that when I was at Bayern and I explained to him that I have two players in the Dutch team and seven or eight in the German. As a Dutchman it was weird to feel a stronger connection to the German team than to your own though.

I haven't spoken to van Bommel since he left Bayern. He was very angry at me, he didn't agree wit my decision (LVG told me he would no longer have a guaranteed first team spot in the second half of the season). I have no problem with that, as a coach you sometimes have to make tough decisions.
