I believe that PapaBrowne (an Edo guy) has more than answered the question of where Edo would likely head if Nigeria ever disintegrates.
On a serious note, I don't see any of the Southern groups joining Yoruba, knowing how tribalistic they are and how they would likely impose the Yoruba language.
That is partly why Jason123 keeps harping on Southern Nigeria.

Fact remains that Igbo, more than any other big tribe in Nigeria, would be very inclined to allow a free language environment in a new country. I don't ever see Igbo imposing Igbo language on non-Igbos, even minute groups. Yoruba would impose Yoruba, while Hausa is already the Northern language. That alone is why Edo would never join Oduduwa nation.
What a brainless post

This was what happened within 1week of Biafra rule in Edo

Before we knew it, Biafran troops were in Benin City and en-route to Lagos. The Republic of Benin was created and it subsequently became the shortest Republic that ever was. Before we knew it, all our Igbo friends and neighbors started saying “Kedu” to us. When you turn around to look at him in surprise, he would say, “Ah, unah, you never begin learn? Na wa. I’m sorry oh.” The big question was: Learn what? Do you mean Igbo is becoming the lingua-franca in “Benin Republic?” Biafran troops were in control and from all practical purposes, the people were being intimidated, etc. Basically, Benin Republic was functionally a colony of Biafra.
Crime › Nigerian Doctor Arraigned For Rape by dayokanu(op): 5:08am On Feb 06, 2012
Ediwn Njoku, the East Hartford doctor accused of sexually assaulting a patient in his exam room, remains in jail after facing a judge on Wednesday and his license has been suspended.

Njoku was charged with sexual assault in the first degree, two counts of sexual assault in the fourth degree, bribery of a witness and unlawful restraint in the first degree.

Investigators are working around the clock to find potential victims. Police tell NBC Connecticut they have no doubt he attacked the woman who prompted the criminal investigation.

“He is very dangerous,” said Anolan Drago, the alleged victim who turned him in last October.

She told police that she had gone to see Dr. Njoku, an internist, and he forcefully had sexual intercourse with her against her will in his examination room.

“He grabbed my breast and I pushed him away. I said, 'What are you doing?” Drago said.

She claimed that’s when Dr. Njoku got more aggressive, took off her clothes and beat her up.

“I felt so violated. I don’t trust doctors no more,” Drago said.

When Drago finally escaped the building, she said she took a bus to Hartford Hospital and made the complaint.

Court documents say an exam showed Dr. Njoku’s DNA was found on her body.

Investigators told NBC Connecticut that Njoku has denied everything.

“Somebody’s got to speak out, how many women has he molested? How many women has he raped and they didn’t speak up or say anything and didn’t call the cops,” Drago said.

When Dr. Njoku learned that his patient made a complaint, he contacted her, in an apparent attempt to get her to withdraw her complaint, police said.

The case against Dr. Njoku has East Hartford Police working overtime.

Over 24 hours, nearly two dozen victims called their office with a very similar story to tell, police said.

“It's apparent the doctor victimized people. He targeted people who were vulnerable, and he used different means to leverage them so he could take advantage of them,” said Lt. Curt Stoldt.

Police added they will hold Dr. Njoku accountable for his alleged wrongdoing, and the pain he might have caused for women who trusted they would be safe in his care.

Dr. Njoku has other offices in Windsor and Hartford. Police in Hartford said he’s a suspect in another case, where a patient claimed she was attacked in 2009.

Don't get me wrong. I started this thread because of Jason's constant "Edo can NEVER go with the East" as if the Edo lean West more than they lean East so there was the need to get to the root of it.

If Nigeria ever disintegrates, only 2 or max. 3 nations will be allowed by the UN and Edo can go either East or West. It all depends on them.
And why would UN state that only 2-3 countries are allowed?

How come Yugoslavia broke into Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Montenegro?

How come USSR split into a million countries?

Yorubas dont go begging for alliances.

We are self sufficient. Its the Igbos who must attache by force

The way they attache with Hausa in a Master-Slave relationship, Same way they are doing with the SS now.

Do you think SS cares that much about you? Let Jonathan finish his regime and watch everything go back to the status quo.

Well it sucks to be a leech

That Edo is POLITICALLY closer to Yoruba has no substantiation. It remains a real red herring.

The language affinity is also suspect.
As for me, I go with LOOKS. The two don't look much alike. Edos actually look more like Igbos.

All these will be settled in the future, after the Biafran war issues must have taken the back seat.
How retardded.

How can one distinguish 2 Southern Nigerians based on look?

If anyone had called Rochas a Yoruba man or Goodluck an Edo man or Fashola an Ibo man who wold have argued

After we have told you the meaning of those names like Oyegun and Aiyegbeni?

If a man from Ibadan bears those names, no one would bat an eyelid

The moral of the story if to verify whatever lie you are about to spew on the www.

What next, Chukwuemeka has no meaning in Igbo language?

Contrary to what Beaf told us, we now know who the stone throwers are.

Besides, it was after the stoning incident in Yenagoa in late 2010 that Mr. President came back to Yenagoa, raised the hand of Sylva, and spoke glowingly about his achievements, saying he has performed excellently well and that the people of Bayelsa should vote him into office.

“It was after the stoning that he came back and voted in the January 2011 PDP governorship primaries and gave a glowing report of Sylva’s performance. So what suddenly changed from January 2011 to later that year

Names like Aiyegbeni and Adesua are not Yoiruba but bini names. Though there are a handful of prople from akoko edo who bear Yoruba names but that doesn't make them Yoruba.
You said those names dont have any meaning in Yoruba wasnt that your point

I guess all the Nigerians with english names are english people ba? There's a group called ekpeye in rivers state that speak and their people bear Igbo names. But that does not make them Igbos. How much more a selected few who bear Yoruba names in edo state.
First you claim the names dont mean anything in Yoruba, you were proved wrong.

Next you claim there are no Yoruba groups inside Edo, You were proved wrong

Then you bring this stupid analogy?
