What an ungovernable bunch - Asking a newly democratically elected president to unleash the Army on these rascals.

Do you guys even think of consequences, contagion and worst case scenarios?
Pls who is the current president or who is currently responsible for security in the country?

Prof JYK:
Do u Hate GEJ or do u hate PDP. either of the above, it is a pity u are not in the majority who voted albiet it the wrong candidate, but the best, in a widely acclaimed free and fair election. do u think it is fair to rejoice in the middle of blood shed just to proove he is spineless? the people's votes have spoken, they want him. cant we all just join hands and move this forward. if u have a problem with the electoral process, then address the right people.
NLnaders have tried talking sense into u but u choose not just to ignore them as any wise person would do, but to engage in childish name calling all to show an absurd addiction to HIGH SCHOOL MOVIES. Well i blame MTV grin
You are obviously one of the products of the failed 12yrs umblerra rule. Who would engage in name calling with you? Only someone who is equally braindead like you

I strongly suspect you cant comprehend English or probably failed Secondary School. Can you pls point out the statement that shows anyone rejoicing in the middle of blood?

Calling for a president and Commander in Chief to take responsibility for our security is to much to ask for in Nigeria?

Well we all get the leaders we deserve

I think GEJ should reach out to these amagiris through BBC Hausa. He is the president of the whole Nigeria they might listen and be sensible.  undecided
Let him sit down and blame Buhari as if Buhari is the President.

A president who prefers pointing fingers instead of taking action. Was that not the same way it happened during October 1 bombings when we spent weeks pointing to Dokpesi, IBB, Okah while lives and properties were lost

Buhari's influence in the North is sometimes over rated. This folks voted for PDP just last week and no violence of this magnitude. Even I suspected violence if the results don't go to him, GEJ has security reports and should have put in measures to quell any violence. It is what governments do and it is his responsibility. Simple!
Thank you for the post especially the part in bold.

But when you have a president who believes prayer is the solution to crime, You wouldnt take it beyond him to ask people to pray that rioters repent like he earlier suggested.

ayusco:
i must say i'm disappointed in alot of comments by posters whose views i respect. dk & kobokunjie i understand and respect your not liking gej but abusing him for asking a candidate to cool the temper of his suppourters(over whom he has a large influence) is abit much. if police & army are sent to quell the riots in the north we all know people will die from there shyte escalates. what he did is not shirking responsibility but a leader trying to maturely resolve the situation. if he behaved like some dictators he would have charged buhari with incitement and tossed his behind in jail
People are being killed, properties are being destroyed, Ayusco almost everyone in the country knew there would be demonstrations after elction results.

If Buhari had won there would have been demonstrations in the SS and SE, likewise same for the North if GEJ won.

What should a responsible president do in the light of that?

PapaBrowne:
I have never known you to be pathetically unintelligent, but I'm beginning to see U in that light!!

FYI, the military is already on ground in these areas curtailing the violence.  One way to get the violence down is by asking Buhari to prevail on his supporters. And thats what the president has done.
Diplomacy comes first. Its only when it fails that force comes in.

Only a fool would take actions9such as you've suggested) that would lead to an escalation of violence, a potential coup and a potential civil war. And surely, the president is no fool, hence his actions are well calculated.

Your hatred for the president is surely making you sound like a below average, no nothing fella and I'm pretty sure you are not one!!
I have never known you to be a r3tarded leprechaun but posts like above are making me to think otherwise

Only a pathetic sod like the poster i quoted would want the killings that have been going on for the better part of GEJ rule to continue for one more day without the C-inC stepping in.

Everyone in the country knew there would be flashpoints in the aftermath of the election and anyone thats even 30% smart would know preventive actions needed to be taken by putting troops on ground before the elections rather the clueless president was sending troops to the SW.

If your Local govt was the one engulfed in the riots maybe it would be nice for the president to be playing with words instead of swinging into action

Iraqi officials say President Saddam Hussein has won 100% backing in a referendum on whether he should rule for another seven years.
There were 11,445,638 eligible voters - and every one of them voted for the president, according to Izzat Ibrahim, Vice-Chairman of Iraq's Revolutionary Command Council.

Not a very serious day, not a very serious vote and nobody places any credibility on it

Ari Fleischer,
White House spokesman
The government insists the count was fair and accurate.

Saddam Hussein - who has ruled Iraq since 1979 - was the only candidate.

Voters had been urged to show their support for the Iraqi leader in defiance of the demands for military action against him from the US and Britain.

During polling, many voters trampled American flags and some signed their ballot-papers in their own blood in a display of loyalty to their leader.

I used to laugh at the below until I saw results from SS and SE

Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak won the country's first contested presidential race, according to a preliminary count Thursday, an expected victory in a vote that was crucial to his claims of democratic reform but was marred by allegations of irregularities, AP reported.

Mubarak took 78 percent to 80 percent of Wednesday's polling and opposition candidate Ayman Nour took 12 percent — a respectable showing for a relative unknown and one that could propel him to greater political prominence

Why cant GEJ appeal to his numerous fans in the North who voted him in large numbers

The lamidos, Sambos, Shagari, His Godfather IBB and other Northern leaders that are GEJ's pals why cant he reach out to them

mikeansy:
There is nothing wrong with the statement above.

It is measured and calculated.

If Buhari was grown up enough to accept his clear defeat, there wont be all this rancour.

Goodluck Jonathan would have certainly instructed security forces to try to contain the violence, more force may be needed later but for now the statement is in order.

I only hope he made the statement himself on live TV. That is what a C-in-C does.
^^ You mean more people need to die before he swings into action?

Buhari did not take the oth to defend Nigerians GEJ did,

Buhari is not the CinC GEJ is.

Its like OBJ telling Asari, Gani Adams, Nwazuruike to call  his boys to order when they are killing people
Quote from Dayokannu
So because GEJ is the CinC any iidiot can incite/promote violence or lawlessness as long as there is a CinC.
buhari shouldn't be told to call his hoodlums to order?

Reason it this way: your neighbours wayward children come into your house to violate your family members. So what well-meaning people should be asking you would be: is your neighbour responsible for the security of your home?
GEJ has the right of security over every Nigerian and not Buhari, Buhari is not the president GEJ is. That shows someone who cant take responsibility

If GEJ feels Buhari is promoting or inciting violence, why doesnt he deal with Buhari, Going by the kid gloves he handles violence in the past this is not surprising

Is Buhari the Commander in chief of the armed forces?

Is Buhari responsible for the security of citizens?

This man is as clueless as ever.

In case you dont know Odechukwu, You are the commander in Chief and responsible for the security of Nigerians.

I have never seen a president shy away from his repsonsibilty like this man.

Maybe we should heed his call and pray for rioters to repent

Nonsense
