Nairaland / General / Disaffection At Golden Guinea Breweries Abia by dayolove: 12:01am On Nov 15, 2021
What is going on at Golden Guinea Breweries, Umuahia, Abia State. Staff are owed salaries over 4months, not allowed to belong to any union to protect their interest with management smiling to the banks seeking new investments at the expense of staff. We hope this does not lead to sabotage by disgruntled staff.
Phones / Re: How Did I Get The NIN Without Registration? by dayolove: 12:54pm On Dec 21, 2020
The NIN was generated via your BVN. However, you need to physically still go to a NIMC office near you and do what they called BVN modification so that NIN can go live and be verifiable else, you will always have the NIN but not able to verify it. NIMC has received BVN numbers starting with 221 and 222 for the first digits and did what they call harmonization. Some got hits and were sent back to NIBSS so it can be cleared while most were cleared to generate the NIN you have now. You can contact me directly on lovedayo@yahoo.com for more information.

Same applies to all those with BVN 221 and 222 that are able to use the NIMC short code *346# to check for their NIN but have never approached any NIMC office for BVN modification.

That must be the old ID project you are referring to as this present one is not upto 12 years old. it started in 2012. so you need to go register the new one

Your question is "which one is more complex?, NO doubt the National Identity Card because of the various applets contained in the new National Identity (chip based) card when compared to the previous one that was not a smart card.
The fact is that there are two tokens issued by the NIMC (the agency of Govt responsible for identity management and not just card production) upon successful enrollment.
One is the National Identification Number Slip called the NIN slip. That is the one that you need for every day transaction requiring identification, verification and authentication services. This does not take more than a day to get and sometimes, it is instant once the systems or backend is satisfied that there is no body existing in the system like you where your finger prints, face and all that have been de duplicated. The second token is the National Identity Smart card which contains the chip and other 13 applets (5 of which are activated at the point of collecting the card). This takes time to come out now as the emphasis is to get all registered first into the National Identity Database and issue the cards later.

You will recall that BVN had a card and at some point, stopped issuing cards because the world is going cardless and paperless now but needs a digital form of identity which is the eleven 11 digit number given to you upon successful enrollment. India recently registered over a billion of their citizens into what they call the Adhaar (forgive me if i didnt quite get the spelling) and did not even issue a paper let alone a card. They wrote down the digital number for individuals to go print out because of the huge cost outlay and because they understand that like your BVN it is the number that actually identifies you not the card because the number can be verified instantly online and realtime.

So please with the digital number, even your main National ID card get missing or lost, your identity still remains and not lost as quoting the number alone just like your BVN in banks can instantly verify and identify you. Lets get the digital number which is called the NIN first, after that, card production can come in. One comes first before the other and who knows you may only need the card for financial and other such added value transaction in the coming years.

The NIN is your number. It is what identifies you and what you need to navigate or access government services in the coming months. every individual will have his or her details tied to the NIN.

Nairaland / General / Two Tokens Issued By NIMC by dayolove: 10:20pm On Jan 17, 2019
The Act establishing the National Identity Management Commission popularly known as NIMC empowers it to register every Nigerians and legal residents (children/minors) inclusive and issue them the National Identification Number also known as NIN and thereafter issue those so registered pursuant to this Act with the National Electronic Identity Card otherwiise known as the General Multipurpose Card (GMPC).

Now I ask, which one of these tokens comes first and which is obtainable globally now? Of course the National Identification Number NIN which also qualifies a duly enrolled individual to get the GMPC. Both tokens are ver important but one comes first which is the Number.

The NIN is one's digital and unique identifier. It does not follow a sequence in order words, it is randomly generated and is assigned to an individual fir life. Upon death of such individual, the NIN is rested and can never be re-issued. One can loose his smart card (GMPC) but that does not mean he/she has lost his/her identity.

The NIN is likened to the Social Security Number issued in the US, the Social Insurance by the UK and the Indian Aadhar. Recently The Indian government registered over a billion of its citizens and only wrote the number on a sheet of paper for people to print out or save in various formats emphasizing the need to have and own the number as the financial requirement for printing smart cards for over a billion Indians can only be imagined. Nigeria cannot afford not to join the rest of the world with its teaming and threatening position in breaking the digital divide.

Moreso, am sure not many people are aware that BVN also started with cards. The very set of registrants had BVN cards but no one talks about BVN cards anymore these days as all you need to quote or provide for KYC is your BVN and you are verified and your identity Authenticated. Soon the NIN, an (eleven) 11 digit - just like your phone number will become a household name as it will be demand everywhere and anywhere you go before services requiring Identity verification is provided to you.

Is NIMC doing away with that beautiful and most priced National ID card? The answer is capital NO. Just relax, get your NIN first, let's populate the database. The Cards will be duly issued.

If you have lost your NIN slip or ca no longer trace it, not to worry USSD *346# is here for the rescue. It is available on all networks though MTN is presently experiencing some minor hitches which is being addressed. The USSD code when typed and sent with any phone provides options 1 and 2. Option 1 is with the phone number you enrolled with while option 2 is with any number. Option 2 asks for dome bio data info after which it returns your 11 digit NIN just like the first option.

Nigerians please avail yourselves of this opportunity and go and enrol as the benefits of the NIN cannot be exhausted here.
Politics / Re: NIMC Charging 15,000 Naira For Modification Of Date Of Birth? by dayolove: 8:11pm On Jan 11, 2019
The OP is not lying. N15,000 is the official approved fee for date of birth modification while N500 is for minor changes/modifications like change of name due to marriage, family decision, religious considerations, etc. You also pay N500 to reprint your loss of NIN slip. The truth is that before now, date of birth was what we call unupdatable field because you can only be born once but along the line, we discovered there were few people with genuine need to effect changes for obvious reasons which the Commission will investigate properly before deciding to accede to the request or not.

The N15,000 for change of date of birth is mainly to discourage such requests and it is only limited to once in a lifeime. Even when the date is eventually changed as paying the amount is not a guarantee of getting it change, the Commosion still keep track of the initial change made but shows the recent changes should there be need for further investigations.

On what you have on the websites the, it was for modification strictly for change of name and other details and not for change of birth as prior to this time, change in date of birth was not even permitted.

Many Nigerians have up to five 5 dates of birth depending on what they intend to use it for. Some are not able to remember the one they used for immigration, FRSC, CBN, police, etc recruitment and as such with the harmonization of the different databases going on, some of these lies come to the open and you one now need NIMC, being the sole repository of biometric databases as directed by the FG to attempt to clear some of these messes.

With NIMC now, you lie once and learn to live with the lie for life. Avoid using different dates of birth and other fraudulent practices with your bio data. It is seriously frowned at by the embassies and could lead to permanent denial of entry visas, etc. the FG is trying to ensure oneness and avoid unnecessary duplications so the system can be trusted and verifiable.

The NIN is the most important and unique identifier required by all, Nigerians and legal residents to maintain and regulate a reliable system of identity management and not just card issuance like before. Please go get yours. The National Identity Smart Card will come later as many people get registered into the national identity database.

You can email me on loveday.ogbonna@nimc.gov.ng should you require further clarification or have any questions regarding the NAtional Identity Management System

Travel / Re: Immigration Moves To Implement ‘no National ID, No International Passport’ Polic by dayolove: 12:36pm On Apr 25, 2018
I think what is needed for one to provide here is your National Identification Number (NIN) which is contained in the slip given to such person after successful enrollment not the Identity Card itself. There are over 30million people now in the database from what i gathered and only few have gotten the smart card so there is no way they can insist on the card.

I also hear that you can retrieve your NIN (incase you have lost the slip) using the phone number you used to enrol by typing the short code *346// (hash) for MTN, Airtel and 9mobile. Only Glo is yet to come on live. If this is true, then you can just provide this number (NIN) the way you provide BVN when asked and you are good to go.

When i get more info on NIMC, i will share. I cover their office as a journalist

Politics / Re: Have You Received Your National Identity Card? by dayolove: 9:15am On Jul 04, 2016
Obynolee:

Are you sure about this?,wouldn't their system dictate multiple registration?

CrazyG, it is not possible to successfully register twice into the National Identity Database as the system will definitely detect attempt to register twice which is also a criminal offence and is punishable by the Act establishing the NIMC. It is possible you did not complete the registration the first time you did and was not issued a NIN (National Identification Number) which is a randomly generated number issued to a particular individual and is not replicated. Once you have that number, your registration is complete and a print out handed over to you which contains your photo ID and the NIN. Another print out is given to you which shows you enrolled successfully but not issued the NIN - that is called the transaction slip while the other one is called the NIN slip. It is not something to boast about that you are yet to get your card a year plus after you registered but the Commission just like other government agency is facing challenges with capacity to produce these cards on a commercial quantity hence the delay being experienced. However, efforts are being made to attract funding to increase capacity so it doesnt take more than 3-6months to get the card after registration like it is done in some countries in West Africa.

Again, the emphasis has been on the number not necessarily the card. The card is only a token issued at after successfully being captured into the National Database which should act as the National Repository of databases for the nation. That number alone singles you out and you can truly be identified and verified without the card in the long run.

In the meanwhile, please send me a mail on lovedayo@yahoo.com and we can discuss further on this please.

Nairaland / General / Re: The National Identification Number by dayolove: 7:49am On Feb 28, 2012
A foolish country is not difficult to know! Of what use is the National Identification Number if it is not imprinted on a national identity card or passport?
Of what relevance will it be if the NIM is not a statutory means of identification in the country?
I think they want to do another National Identiy Card scheme but they are calling it a different name inorder to avoid criticisms for the previous failed scheme.

Guy, i think you are wrong here. The NIN is a special number just for you that identifies you for live and is imprinted in the New National Identity Card. Banks, security agencies, immigration, etc will be able to log into the database/infrastructure of NIMC - the regulatory agency for biometric/national ID card related issues to verify each ID card issued. The NIN is universal and perculiar to each individual so much so that even without the physical card, your information can be assessed just by rightly quoting the NIN. Even INEC is able to do a better job, National Population etc and it reduces identity fraud and the rate at which Nigerians duplicate identity cards. I think we should support this laudable project. for more information log on to www.nimc.gov.ng or listen to the jingles or call directly 07025420706-9 and 07040144452-7 should you require further clarifications or have any questions.

The issue has nothing to do with name calling and abuse on persons of Buhari or GEJ. Why cant the government identify this so called individuals who are making money from this subsidy then build refineries and capacities to accomodate the eventual removal of any subsidy. I guess that is what should be paramount to the government now. Are we giving up on corruption that we can not identify and handle corrupt individuals who are feeding fat on the system to the detriment of the masses? i tire for this country.

Guys i have recently collected my 25% from stanbicIBtc pension when i supplied all that was requested of me. i was paid within 6weeks of sending in my application. believe me it works when you have you provide all that is in the checklist. i was affected by the oceanicbank tsunami of 2009 and once i got the information but i could access 25% of my almost 3million i had saved.

furthermore i was also advised to go for the pre-act which am recently pursuing. i was told the pre-act is any savings you had before the pension act kicked off in 2006 or so. you will be able to access that too ennbloc. i applied some 5 weeks ago for that and am expecting a credit to my account after the holidays. i can say this about stanbicIbtc but not sure of other pension managers.

which is your pension managers? at least you can access the 25% which can assist you. also ask for the pre-act. if you can gather the two you should be able to make ends meet.

I personally want to thank those of you who address the issue instead of attacking the messenger. when we see the truth/facts as stated, lets learn to uphold it and condemn what is wrong without the usual ethnic bias, etc. the likes of pukkah, violent, texazzpet are making sense but Jimmyshow, Mcleo007 and the rest stinks with ignorance and are not objective at all. if the figures quoted are true without anything to show for it, then let's condemn it. it puts the pressure on the government to be guided but when we start chasing shadows and defending what we know deep down our hearts are wrong, then there is need for us to have a rethink.

GEJ is too weak to lead this country, wasteful, too naive and fully dependent on external influence to take decisions that will affect this country positively. he wants to carry everyone along, especially the wrong people thereby making him suspect in all he does. with the people around him like Anyim pius Anyim, David Mark, OBJ and so on, he can only bark but not bite in his fight against corruption and will always dance to the come and chop policy of Papa Deceiving Pikin (PDP).

Until we are ready as citizens of this great sleeping giant of Africa to mobilize and speak against such wasteful spending, corrupt and inept leadership in high places (in PDP and other parties) the leaders will always take us for granted knowing we have the likes of Mcleo007 and Jimmysho who will always play the ethnic card.
Politics / Re: Can Someone Please Sue Fg For Blocking Phone Services In Abuja? by dayolove: 3:50pm On May 30, 2011
Poster have any reason to feel bad just like any other abuja residence. the FG does not have the right to treat people with such impunity. the least it would have done was to inform people or subtly pass it out as a rumour so people will make alternative arrangement for emergencies. imagine what ould have been if a woman was in labour, home alone and couldnt use her phone to contact anyone or an accident victim who could still make a call to indicate where he fell into a ditch or some worse scenario.

i believe strongly that the phone companies make a kill from this and should in turn compensate any claims by any agrieved abuja resident. the phone companies are in business and must have been paid either in cash or kind for almost a 12hour block out of their services to users.

GEJ can do wrong. lets learn to fight for our right. even if poster end up not getting any compensation, atleast let it be on record that someone has complained, knows his right and you can be sure FG will be cautious embarking on such subsequently.
Politics / Re: Buhari’s CPC Sues Jega, INEC by dayolove: 11:13pm On May 07, 2011
there is no crime in buhari or CPC going to court. it will strengthen democracy and help PDP government sit up and alert to their responsibilities to the Nation Nigeria. It was in Nairaland that one of us detailed all the promises made by GEJ towards his being voted for power. let's watch and see how many of these promises will be fulfilled on regional basis. If the threat of a possible court case lingers, it will serve as a alternative government or government in waiting. The killing of corps members in the North by CPC members(if proven) is condemnable and every culprit should be brought to book and made to face the dire consequence of the law including the sponsors. This will send signal to others whose future ambition is to be used for this kind of atrocity.
Like someone said, NLanders should be objective in their responses/contributions to issues especially when it comes to politics. some enlightened guys seemed to be running aware from the forum unlike before as a result of lame contributions made by some of us.
Family / Re: Whose Name Should Come First On The Wedding Invitations? by dayolove: 10:52pm On May 06, 2011
Ify,

I think you should let your husband to be have his way. there is no hard and fast rule about this but honestly the name of the man usually come first if you looked at the way wedding was done way back in the 60s, 70s and late 80s. these things change but some men see if from the spiritual point of view. for those talking about Oyinbo system, we all know how much right/privilege given to the womenfolk and it is sharp contrast with what we do here in Africa. When there is seperation or divorce the man takes a walk from the house leaving the kids behind and only applies to visit them while paying alimony monthly for their upkeep. it works for them there but i strongly dont think you should let this bother you. find out his reasons for saying so and believe me, my wife and i from the start agreed that my name as the man should come first. the foundation matters. i have also heard pastor tunde bakare telling his members that he will not officiate any wedding in his church where the lady weds the man. who knows, your fiance maybe of that school. Even some people believe that it is the man that must name the baby. these are viewed from spiritual angle while some roles are reserved for women. so i think you should go ahead with your wedding with his name that way. no one would bother about it. it is your day and you called people to come share your joy and witness. they are only witnesses and not judges.

i listened to one of these stand up comedians who joked about the fact that God was asking the first Prime Minister of Nigeria while Zik was president how come he could not rule this country well. God could not hide his disappointment with  him for not making sure that Nigeria was in the best shape before he died and left a good platform for future growth and stability of the country and the late PM said that he tried. God was not convinced and kept blaming the PM until he let out the truth asking God how anyone on earth could succeed when you had a YORUBA MAN as part of the ruling combination. He said he could do with any other tribe in this country but not a YORUBA man and that God himself can try it out with any other good leader no matter how could that it never worked. The typical yoruba will pull you down anyday - could it be complex or wanna-be syndrome and because they control the electronic media, what can you do. i dont know if this answers some our queries even though it was a joke. Go to Ekiti state where they have the highest number of professors and learned yorubas, it is the most unstable state. hardly any Governor spend more than a term in Ekiti since it was founded. They will use petitions to send you out. on the average they are good people but cant be trusted!

Other MUMUs like Orji Uzor Kalu had to do a programme at ABSU by all means to improve himself. haba! i heard some of her wrong grammar at a function in eagles square. my colleagues and i counted over 5 errors dat my 6year old can not commit. 1. the President was once a children. 2 let the minister of state for FCT join his minister. 3. he will forgot to, abeg someone should tell her.
Family / Re: . by dayolove: 2:21pm On Oct 18, 2010
AP,

let me join those telling you that no right-thinking person born of a woman will out rightly condemn your mum for what she did. look at this way before, think about the danger of anything happening to the girl while in your house - say she falls sick and God forbid something more happens to her. in the eyes of the law, traditionally and otherwise, it will be difficult for you to come out of it without so much traditional rites since your relationship is still not formalised. this could be what mum was trying to communicate. until the ladies wealth price has been paid, she is not legally you wifey and can not enjoy the rights and priviledges attached to that position. this is also in addition to the fact that it is morally wrong for her to stay with you while your mum is there. she would have left the next day or as fast as she can to give your mum that respect. any mother that looks the other way in this kind of situation and in a sane and morally upright household, will be viewed as morally bankcrupt.

i suggest you take time and meet with your mum and run some of these issues with her with all due respects and acknowledging the fact that she means well for you while subtly letting her know you are becoming a full grown up man. u shld do this while she is relaxed and ready to listen. 4get anyone that tells you that you wouldnt need mother/parental consent for your marriage. strained Motherinlaw/daughterinlaw relationship is not what you should pray for in a marriage. you can hardly handle it. God said obey your parents that you may live long - this is the only assurance of long life in the bible.

once the lady becomes your wifey legally, your mum will naturally begin to know the boundaries but must be loved still while your wifey occupies first position in your heart and anywhere but dont start that way with mum else, the repercussion is better imagined.

finally, let your GF know mum means well and have high respect for her else some mothers will be violent about it and even put a slap through to the lady or engage in other more embarrassing approach.

goodluck.

Lets not 4get that the whole idea of kidnapping started from the militants of the Niger Delta states paid and promoted by the Governors of the Niger Delta states to enable them win elections. Odili, Lucky Igbinedion and Ibori were instrumental to this. see them walking free except ibori for now and the problem they created is starring us directly in the face.

the PPMC petroleum depot in Osisioma Ngwa has not been functioning where some of these youths who took to crime fed from by engaging in menial jobs and sometime bunkering hence they are idle and available for any criminally minded user.

kidnapping as it were is not limited to aba or ngwa land as a kano based businessman was kidnapped in kano on sunday while the kidnappers are asking for ransom in hard currency.

it is becoming a national disgrace and i bet nairalanders that this trend will continue if lip service is paid by our security outfits, especially the police who only mount roadblocks in the entire southeast to collect N50 and N100 every 1/2 kilometer distance.

by telling the whole world  your strategies towards arresting the kidnappers like bringing in isrealis etc is an admission that we cant police ourselves. the ultimatum too wasnt necessary as you do your intelligence work without noise and celebrate success with noise later.

i only pity the families of the journalist. it has come to fore now because they are mostly non-eastheners that were kidnapped. day in day out people are being kidnapped in the villages under the watchful eyes of the police and other security agencies sent to curb the dastardly act. something is definitely wrong somewhere.

may God help us in this country. let the kidnapping get to the house of reps, senate, governors and politicians just like they have started with rogues like sani lulu. it is only then, something serious will be done about this.

That is not very good for his career! i wish it was that fat and political minded woman - Ndy Okereke or whatever she is called that was sacked. she is part of the problem in the financial sector. she collaborated with these banks to feature false facts behind the figures and aided and abetted manipulation of prices.

most of the banks ceos could sit in the comfort of their office, make one or two phone calls and decide and agree on how much the price of their stock will be. such was the case then. what is she still doing there? can someone initiate a process to remove and replace her with the right candidate. she had no regard for the NSE regulatory authority - SEC.

Anyway for our dear Dangote - manipulations can only work for a while, it does not sustain you. the government of the day that will always favour you may not be there always. this should teach you and your likes lessons.

Career / Oceanic Bank Sacks Over 1500 Of Its Staff by dayolove: 8:22pm On Dec 21, 2009
Contrary to assurances given by the New MD/CEO of ailing Oceanic Bank, Mr JOhn Aboh at the press conference held some weeks ago that staff to be laid off have not been determined and number unknown, my source at the bank today can authoritatively confirm that over 1500 staff members were given their letters today both within lagos and upcountry without adequate compensation.

most of the victims included those not yet confirmed, which was actually a game plan to sack them because they have been overdue for confirmation but delayed by the new management. others are those who joined the bank in the last 2 years so they won't have to get any serious compensation and others with one issue or the other and those close to former management of Mrs Ibru.

the truth is that the CBN is yet to tell us what is exactly wrong with these banks as some of the happenings leading to lay offs, salary cuts and downsizing shows there are more to this than meets the eye. some of these banks are actually unhealthy and portends danger for likely investors.

these are clear signs of dangers for depositors of these ailing banks. the more they keep downsizing and cutting salaries the worst PR for them as people will definitely begin to know the truth.

on another vein, management of these banks in which CBN recently intervened has continued to spend millions of naira taking care of themselves instead of pursuing the loan recovery, establishment of good and sound risk management process and corporate governance. i hear the ones in oceanic bank are buying choice cars and giving waivers to friends and associate on loans. it is just a question of dog eat dog. whoever is there at any point in time will take of himself and his cronies until someone takes over from sanusi who can detect the rot in them too. na wao for this country.

oceanic is really loosing it so also other banks. i guess we just look elsewhere for depositors and our hard earned funds.

For me, i think programmes like this should be encouraged to see if we can actually produce the likes of these veterans that we were once proud of. I believe there are thousands of footballers out there who may never get opportunity or exposure to display their Godgiven talents except through such opportunities. I hear the Okocha show was sponsored by Oceanic Bank and enjoyed wide patronage. Nairalanders, what have we to say on this.

Nigerian politicians will never learn and be humble. they see themselves as rulers and the ruled are servants that must be ruled and treated as they wish - after all you never voted them in so they choose to please only their godfather. imagine a deputy governor behaving like the late adedibu. what do you expect in a state of lawlessless ruled by charlatans installed by obasanjo, ibori, orji uzor kalu, etc.
Until we have servant leaders, we will continue to be ruled the way we are being ruled and we can only complain. they don't even know we are complaining because to them, you dont even exist. God pass them

na wao for this naija. how did these arms get into the hands of these kidnappers in the first place, where is our customs, police, operation mesa, operation flush and operation that? why the debate if we can all carry arms in naija since most villages/hideout are already militarized. God will not 4gve the likes of Peter Odili, James ibori, Orji Uzor kalu who funded this kidnappers and above all, PDP - papa deceiving pickin, all masterminders of these ignoble acts in our once great country. Afraid dey catch everyone now as arms proliferation is our most worry now. even iraq is safer as it is now. no one is spared. i pray it continues to get to our leaders - governors, senators and even the villa. it is only then that our salvation will come. until it becomes their nightmare, we may never be safe. so i encourage the kidnappers to go for the abuja big boys/girls and politicians in high places so that solution can be found.
