MrAAA2: English language IT roles there are really competitive at this point. Vacancies with English regularly have over a 100 applications on LinkedIn unlike the German ones. So even in IT, your life will be 10 times easier if you can speak German. I'm hoping to start applying by July when I have B2. No need to waste my time on it now. 1 Like

Travel / Re: How Oluwaseun Olaniyi Fawale Scammed People Of Of Over 46.5m For Canada Visa. by DC49: 11:00am On Nov 30, 2023 |
Nigerians will always be prone to agent scams because we find it difficult to research and read on our own. I will always maintain that no one needs an agent for visa processing. Everything you need to know is on the embassy websites and online forums. All you need to do is to spend a few weeks on research, then compile all the required documents and apply. If you meet the requirements they'll give it to you, if you don't they won't. There's no real shortcut about it. The only alternative is to risk losing your hard earned money is this difficult economy. |

Hello everyone. I applied for ZAB degree evaluation early this month and hope to start the job search by February when the recognition document comes in. I want to get insights from those who have previously gone through the job search and work visa process. Sorry I've gone through the thread, but most of the recent posts are on family reunions. Some of my questions are: - What is the current job market like for IT workers? I have about 4 years of experience in backend development working primarily with Python and Rust, along with some open-source contributions. What are my chances? German knowledge is currently at A1, but I hope to complete an A2 course before February. - How long is the current wait time for Blue card applications? - Anything else one should take note of. Also, if I can get an internal referral from anyone working there, I'd really appreciate it. |

Programming / Re: Learning Backend Web Development by DC49: 9:05am On Feb 26, 2022 |
It'll be a little bit difficult for you to get into backend if you're a complete newbie, but that doesn't mean it's impossible. The first thing you'll need is the desire to learn. From your write-up I see you have that already, so go and learn the basics of HTML and CSS. Don't go too deep, and leave JavaScript since your target is not frontend. When you're done with that, get the Python Crash Course book by Eric Matthews. It'll teach you everything you need to know about Python. Also learn how to use git and GitHub then start pushing your code, and use leetcode once in a while to practice data structures and algorithms. After this, go to YouTube and search for Denis Ivy. He has a lot quality Django videos where you'll get a chance to learn Django while building real life projects. When you feel you're comfortable with normal Django, about 50% of your journey is complete. Backend devs usually build APIs and the normal Django is more suited for a monolithic app, so you'll need to learn Django-rest-framework. It's a library that helps you build rest APIs with Django. Go to their website. They have a very good documtation. You can also check a few YouTube playlists on that. When you're done, build a to-do API to help you practice CRUD operations. Go a little bit further and add user accounts creation and login to help you practice authentication. At this point you're almost ready. Go to the tutorial section of the FastApi website and learn that too. It's very self explanatory. When you're done, build that to-do API again with FastAPI. At this point you're almost ready to be hired. What is left is Docker. All of the places I've worked at use it for containerization. Get a video on YouTube that explains how to use it. When you're done, containerize the two backends you made above. After this, look for a complex project you can think of. Maybe an ecommerce or social media app. Build the backend, containerize it and deploy on digital ocean or AWS. Here you'll get the chance to learn about nginx, SSL and general server management. If you can dedicate 3 - 5 hours every single day to this, I expect you should complete that curriculum within 6 to 8 months. Practice on leetcode, set up your LinkedIn profile and start applying for jobs. Make sure your GitHub shows that you're active because that is very important for someone starting out. Push code everyday! 16 Likes 3 Shares |

I just observed this on Binance P2P, and I don't know what to think of it. USDT is selling for about 490 Naira, so why would someone want to buy for above 600 Naira? The funny part is that these accounts seem to be pretty well established with lots of trades and high completion rates. Am I missing something? 2 Likes

Something that huge will need a team unless you don't mind waiting a while for a single developer to build it up. Ideally the team should consist of 3 members, with a UI/UX designer to design the wireframes and user interface, a frontend developer to build the frontend, and a backend developer to handle the back-end. However the team can consist of 2 or 1 member(s) if any of the members can handle more than one area, but the delivery time will most likely increase. The advantage here is that it'll be relatively cheaper. As for the technologies, the common ones are Figma/Adobe XD/etc for the UI/UX, Angular/React/Vue for the frontend development, and Django/NodeJS/laravel/etc for the backend. I must add that the technology stack really doesn't matter. It all depends on what the developer is most comfortable with. Finally the cost. I'm sorry to burst your balls here, but I don't think you can get something the quality of Jumia and Ebay for cheap. Don't let anyone deceive you. My rough estimate is that this whole platform may have upto 60 pages which could cost above 100k for the UI/UX alone. The actual cost of course will depend on the people you're working with and their experience level. 1 Like |

Programming / Angular Bug Bounty by DC49: 7:53pm On Jan 28, 2021 |
So there's an Angular app I'm building, but I've been stuck on a bug. I've provided enough details about the app and the bug on this StackOverflow question: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/65899139/angular-11-ssr-app-reloads-failing-on-firebase. The first person that can help resolve the bug or give me tips that'll lead to me finding a solution will get a bounty. I have 3k in mind, but I'm open to negotiating a bit higher. If you've found a solution, drop your number and I'll contact you, or send me a WhatsApp message through the contact on my signature. |

Programming / Re: Backend Software Engineers, Let's Talk About System Design by DC49: 6:40am On Dec 06, 2020 |
SilverG33k: In my case I would use a decoupled architecture. That is, separate the front-end from back-end and host them separately. Front end would be an Angular app hosted on firebase, while back-end would be a Django Rest API hosted on Google App Engine with auto-scaling support to handle traffic surges. I'd utilize a caching system like Memcached to reduce load on the back-end server, store the user generated contents like media files on a separate file storage service like Amazon S3 or Google Cloud Buckets, host the database separately on Google Cloud SQL, and finally use a CDN like Cloudflare. This setup would be expensive though, but for a platform that gets such a huge amount of requests I'm certain the owner would be able to afford it. 88 Likes 13 Shares |

"I want something professional like Amazon, or maybe Jumia." Since what you need is definitely not a simple store front, I would advise you to get a competent developer to set it up for you. It may cost you though. Check my signature for contact details if you need to talk more. |

kensmoney:Try freelancing. There's a demand for React/Angular developers right now. Set up accounts on upwork and peopleperhour, and also talk to people around you. At some point, you'll meet someone who knows someone that needs something. You can also check around your city for any web development agency. From my experience, they usually don't have more than 2 developers in their team, so schedule a visit with the manager and offer your services as a freelancer/subcontractor for whenever they need extra hands/skills on a project. You can also use Google maps to lookup local businesses in your area that don't have a website. Even if they can't afford to pay well, atleast you'll get your name out there. Peace. 4 Likes 1 Share |

alibobo360:Yes, you'll need to input your card details. An amount of 1 dollar will be debited from your account but it'll be refunded within a week. Google needs the card details and subsequent $1 charge to verify that you're not a bot, and for future billings after you've exhausted your $300 on the platform. You can contact me if you have any further questions. NB: Don't pay anyone for any GCP account. |
