yourangel: It's pathetic and utterly disappointing to read words like the bolded from a self-proclaimed football fan. I would enjoin all my cule brothers and sisters here to ignore you and your posts because it's obvious that you are a child who started watching football last season when Bayern won the CL. Otherwise, you won't write those words. Who is Ribery? His case for the Ballon d'Or is because Bayern won the treble last season. Not because he's a better player than CR7 and Messi. In the season that led to the mind blowing scoring record of 91 goals by Messi, he gave 28 assists. Who on earth does that? Only Messi does! Be it Maradona, Zidane or Ronaldinho, they never assisted and scored like Messi does year in and year out. This is the wonder of Messi, and the reason some football legends believe he's the greatest football player ever. He scores in volumes, and assist in volumes. Can your Ribery assist and score simultaneously like Messi does? No way! To reduce Messi to a mere goal poacher (as inferred in your words) is disgusting and malicious. You can make an honest case for Ribery. You don't have to resort to such lies and total distortion of the truth before you make your case clear. Ribery would wish to be like Messi or Ronaldo for just one day in his life time. Who knows Ribery if not for the treble of Bayern? Messi and Ronaldo don't have to win any treble before people know them. They are gods in the world of football. A testament to the fact that Ribery is crying that his own people in France prefer Messi and Ronaldo for the award.

Maradona said this sometime ago, "Messi is my Maradona". Last week, Hernan Crespo quipped that Maradona was his idol in football, but for him, "Messi is better than Maradona". Three days ago, our own Sergio Busquets was asked what he would want to be like if he reincarnates. His answer was "if I reincarnate, I would like to come as Leo Messi". Would any Bayern player wish to reincarnate as Ribery? God forbid bad thing! (lol). I believe if you are given the option to reincarnate between Ribery and Messi (only), you would undoubtedly go for the latter...lol. So, you see what I am talking about?

I won't be surprised if Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar appear as the top three candidates for the Ballon d'Or this year. Luckily for Ribery, it's the top five candidates (instead of the usual top three) that will be unveiled this time around. So, he stands the chance of being among the final five candidates. People only know about Ribery in Europe. Ballon d'Or is not awarded by Europeans only, but by the whole world. Neymar's achievements in the confederations cup are more spectacular to voters outside of Europe than Ribery's. That Ribery won the best player in Europe award is not a guarantee he would win the Ballon d'Or. Our darling Iniesta won the best player in Europe award last year, yet he came third (yes, third, not even second) in the Ballon d'Or.

Ribery is a fantastic player and I would be happy for him if he wins the award this time. However, he can never be in the league of Messi and Ronaldo. Never ever! Please tell Ribery to focus on qualifying his country for the world cup. Messi don qualify him country tay tay!
gbam gbam gbam. How else could a player influence a game better than being the top scorer season after season and simultaneously being in the top 2 assists rank? Simultaneously! One man! People need to stop b1tching about the ballon dor, which is done in the best and most sincere possible way-by voting. There would definitely be much more b1tching and nagging if the ballon dor was simply awarded by a group of 10 wise fifa officials including of course mr blatter, in a 5 star hotel in zurich.

It will be fair to have ribery, robben and messi in the final shortlist. As for ronaldo, if the ballon dor was for october and november only he should win without a doubt. He succeeded in deceiving the world with his performance over the last 2 months. What about january to september? He doesn't deserve it. A bayern player deserves to win it. Not quite sure between ribery and robben. Popular oppinion shows ribery but personally I go for robben, for their treble winning feat and for dismantling the then greatest team my beloved barcelona like that. Messi also deserves it, for having the best individual season ending may 2013- being the pichichi with 46, the european shoe with 46, top scorer in all competitions with 63, being the first man in history to score CONSECUTIVELY against all 19 league opponents, for qualifying argentina directly for the world cup while ronaldo's portugal and ribery's france still struggle, and for winning 2 trophies- the spanish super cup in september and la liga in may.

*Help the team alongside Messi{diversifying the focal point}..
*Carry the team in the absence of Messi...
.......Like you rightly pointed out,Messi is alwaz Messi,he cant be anytin less than or greater than Messi....No replacement will be like him...Neymar fully knows this, and thats why he wanted to come and learn from the Master himself....
No matter how interesting the idea of recouping Millions of Euros through Messi sale is,It will backfire against this leadership...If anything,Citizenship and bloodline alike,Messi is a pure Cule,it runs in his blood,He is one of them, and The club knows better than to Sell a Pure blood!! some very hard facts to punder really but we need to realise this: a player like messi comes around like once in 30 or 40 years. Call me persimistic but neymar isn't going to step into messi's shoes. They far too big for him. There are so many players like him or whom he would end up like since he is young-ibrahimovic, aguero, silva, rooney, robben, rvp, suarez, de maria. But to step in messi's shoe, messi comes once a lifetime. If this is the end of messi then it would be difficult not to conclude this is barca's end. Chances are still there sha, after all before messi was ronaldinho. But very very very slim.

tomakint: Guy minus those legends I struck out if only you know what it means to play as a midfielder in Serie A when it was the rave of the moment in the 80s, and you emerge as the highest goal scorer in your second year as a midfielder (supporting striker), in your first year, you grabbed the scudetto (Italian League) where you have the likes of AC Milan, Sampdoria, Inter Milan, Juventus, Lazio and Parma all sizzling hot and yet you are the main player in your new club (a club that had never won the scudetto, Italian league title since it was created in the year 1926, 1st August) The name of the Club here is Napoli F.C and the name of this player is Maradona!

Another one went to this same league to ply his trade, he emerged as the second highest goal scorer in his first season in a league where goal scoring is as scarce as water in the desert, he helped them win the UEFA Cup, it was in this league that he got his nickname Il Fenomeno from the Italian Press as a result of his mesmerizing snake bites, step-overs and other waostic moves on the field of play! The club is Inter Milan and the player here is Ronaldo!

Yes Messi is in the league of these titans I highlighted above, of course he towers above the rest! One unique thing about Messi and the these two legends are their number of Solo Goals, this is the true mark of Legends in the GAME!
all this is your personal oppinion. I could name for you over 10 world football super stars including current players and coaches and ex players who are bigger than you, richer than you, know football a million times over you that have called messi the greatest of all time. So all this essay you wrote here is strictly your oppinion!
Sorry, ribery won't win the ballon d'or as he rarely scores up to eleven goals a season.

If the ribery fans are making a case for him because he won the domestic league and the Champions League then I must say you all must be delusional because in 2010 Wesley Sneijder had the best and record breaking year. His achievements dwarfs ribery's season in 2013 yet he didn't even make it to the top three nominees for the ballon d'or.

If Wesley Sneijder could miss out on the top three for the Fifa Ballon d'or in 2010 after winning the domestic league, the Champions league and was in the World Cup final in South Africa, what chance does ribery have? undecided

The Ballon d'or is based on how marketable a player is and also based on goals. Frank ribery lacks both criteria for the award.

What are the chances of someone buying a Fifa video game or merchandise with ribery on the cover as opposed to cristiano ronaldo? probably five out of a 100 chances.

All these things are considered before the award winner is announced. I'm sorry ribery fans, he was rightfully awarded the Uefa Best Player in Europe for the 2012-2013 season with 36 out of 53 votes and it'll just end at that. . .

The Ballon D'or is either for messi or ronaldo, these guys score unimaginable number of goals a season and ronaldo is almost at 70 goals for the 2013 calendar year already, how many goals does ribery have for the 2013 season. . .It's not even up to 20.

Frank ribery has no chance of winning the ballon d'or.wink
lol. Messi gets injured and mama shows up. For the first time ever she owns up that MESSI or ronaldo deserves it just because she really thinks meSsi can't win due to yesterday's injury. Don't patronise us. Messi has done enough in 2013 already to win. Ribery or messi wins.

But in 2008 and the past 2 months he competes with an injured messi and gets some advantage and we no go hear word again! Someone even had the balls to say that in terms of individuality ronaldo is better than messi. Leaves me wondering exactly how people reason, no wonder our country is still like this, where 5 is greater than 27 and 16 is greater than 19.
