Olu317:
I have been following your opinion and your emotional attachment to Akoko Edos. It is a so unfortunate that people opined on social media without considering the larger implication of what they stand for . It is shocking to see your denials as regard the elders in Some places claiming Yoruba ancestry as appalling because you claim, they are uneducated and ignorant of their real connection. Funny enough, Bini proper worship Ogun/Ogum as god of iron , who was also known as god of iron in Yoruba land as well . I have never seen anything as opined in this manner as you have tried to do. I had mention in the past that the late Enigmatic Akoko Edo lawyer known as Fred Agbaje claimed, their ancestors were yoruba ancestors.Professor, Ajomo claim it again ,you try to suppress the truth . You must be a hilarious person within your environment. I want to let you know that the information contrary to yours on this forum didnt deny the fact that other Edoid groups migrated to different places to fuse with others, even in Ibillo etc. The point here is,what is the reason denying the truth,if you are named deadlytruth?. Being broadminded is,what you need imbibe. Anyway, it just testified to the egocentric nature of man as a whole. Yoruba indeed influenced Akoko Edo and Bini kingdom as a whole.
If you were honest and not simply on a mission to impose Yorubaness on the actually non-Yoruba people of Akoko-Edo, you would not have failed to observe the inconsistency of some of your fellow Yorubas here that first started with the claim that most Akoko-Edo towns were founded by Yorubas, and when that was proven wrong they quickly shifted the goal post to the claim that they were only talking of Yoruba influence in Akoko-Edo. How on earth did you fail to see this inconsistency but saw a non-existent emotional attachment in my responses?
And for you to describe the presentation of undisputable facts as emotional attachment while implicitly endorsing Your Yoruba brothers' inconsistencies and obvious fallacies here as non-emotional attachments is an evidence that words are fast losing their meanings in Nigeria just because certain people wish to impose their own identities on others. Such should be a shame in civilized climes which unfortunately Nigeria is far from.

It is indeed shocking that you saw only my denial of the phantom Yoruba influence but you were completely blind to the asinine claim by your brothers that there are Yoruba founded towns in Akoko-Edo.
That alone shows that you yourself are actually guilty of the emotional attachment you accuse me of.
I keep wondering why Yorubas like you believe you can know me more than I know myself as as Akoko-Edo person.
After having all your lies and fabrications punctured and swept away with hard facts and simple logic from Akoko-Edo people themselves, rather than accept that you and your folks had been ignorant in the past, the next thing for you is to patronized this childish emotional outburst above.
Must every tribe be forced to assume they are Yorubas?
Your likes sit far away in Yorubaland and impose Yorubaness on others whose communities you have never and will never likely visit.
This assumption of Yorubaness for Akoko-Edo is similar to how most Southerners assume that the Middle Belters are Hausa-Fulanis until the day they travel to the Northern parts of the country to live among and interact with the Middle Beltern tribes on a first hand basis.
Please be informed that the demographic fraud called WAZOBIA which has obviously created in you the perception that only Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo exist in and own Nigeria is no longer tenable.

On the claim of Late Fred Agbaje which you now tenaciously hold onto as your only remaining lifeline in this expansionism enterprise: I thought my explanation that Akoko-Edos living in Yorubaland are fond of seeking political relevance among Yorubas by faking Yorubaness should do? If you had imbibed the broad-mindedness you seem to preach here you definitely wouldn't have stuck to the opinion of just an individual Fred Agbaje while neglecting the opinion of majority of Ibillo people themselves.
Whenever Oba Akiolu, a supposed Yoruba monarch in possession of a high level of credibility conferred on him by his throne, claims that Binis founded Lagos and that he himself is a Bini descendant; how come your likes always vilify him and denounce it as an individual's opinion despite you being supposedly "broad-minded"?
You did not accept Oba Akiolu's more authoritative individual position but you want us to accept Fred Agbaje's less authoritative individual opinion, right? Mountainous hypocrisy!

Mind you that unlike Late Fred Agbaje, Oba Akiolu does not live in Edo State hence can't be making those Bini descent claims in search for political relevance among Edos. In fact judging from his threat to drown Lagos resident Igbos in the Lagoon if they voted for Jimi Agbaje of PDP, it becomes an obvious testimonial that he has no use for political correctness, and that whatever he voices out is his sincere and genuine opinion.

Why is it that all administrations only begin to take concrete steps towards this restructuring question when it is just a year away from election?
Jonathan convoked a confab in 2014 (just a year before election year of 2015) after having consistently insisted in 2011, 2012 and 2013 that our problem had nothing to do with structure but corruption which once killed every other thing would just fall in place like magic.
APC too has since 2015 been tagging advocates of restructuring as opportunists and arguing that corruption is our real problem, but just barely a year to election now, they have come up with a position on restructuring.

Obasanjo too organized a charade he called SNC in 2002 just a year to 2003 election.

This makes me seem to believe that if voted in Atiku too will abandon restructuring and begin to "'fight'' corruption only to come out with a confab just a year to 2023 elections.

Beautiful as these El-Rufai Committee's proposals are (except for state of origin being swapped with place of residence), if it is not implemented before 2019 February then it will just be another Jonathan-like confab which PDP promised they would implement after being voted back to power.

8.State of origin and local govt of origin be abolished and to be replace with place of residence.

With the way the Fulanis behave, this is recipe for disaster. A likely scenario that this clause could create is one where a fulani man upon becoming governor of some state due to residency, totally takes over that state and not allow the aborigines to ever ascend to ruling the state or even have control of their lives.

Another scenario is an Igbo man becoming governor of Lagos state and, ofcourse, not allowing any Yoruba person to ever rule Lagos again. Imagine the wars we will be fighting all over the place. Clearly, El-Rufai and the Fulanis have a hidden agenda with this provision and it should not be considered.
But do you recall that, bad as this abolition of LGA and State of origin is, it first emanated from some myopic Southerners who always want us to copy America even on issues about which the background situations and challenges are totally different from those of America?
America can afford to operate by state of residence because everyone there is educated and there is high level of religious homogeneity and less emphasis on cultural background. But Nigeria's case is opposite.
When a people copy senselessly this is what they get.

I didn't bother to even finish reading the post because as a Niger Delta son, the number one and two just got me angry.

In a simple term, what one and two means is that all minerals resources under the category of mining should be under the control of States which is onshore while almost 85% of oil which is mostly in offshore when you come to Niger Delta will now be controlled by the FG. This document is dead on arrival from the perspective of the Niger Delta man.
I want to believe that the one shore/off shore exact definition has not really been agreed upon. In the United States definition of "onshore" includes up to 3 nautical miles extension into the sea otherwise referred to as the submerged shore. It is left for the Niger Delta Senators and Reps to raise this motion about the exact extent of onshore when this report arrives at the National Assembly.
It will surely be a tough journey.

Is the Prof from Ibillo? I don't agree with you that the Prof is confused about his ancestry.
Being a Prof in academics does not automatically confer one with accurate and deep knowledge of one's roots.
The case I mentioned of Igarra people initially believing they were from Igala had Igarra professors who fell for that narrative.

I think we should be able to make our points without insulting each other.

I once read an interview of Prof Michael Ayodele Ajomo. He claims to be from a Yoruba village now part of Edo state. I don't know the name, but I believe it is in Akoko Edo. So I believe some people or villages in Akoko Edo have Yoruba origins. A town like Igarra is clearly Egbira.
Thanks very much for your observation on abusive language. This guy called macof started it all by derogatorily tagging me an empty headed Bini just because I took him up with facts and logic.

Well, you see, a lot of Ibillo folks are confused about Ibillo history. I think the fault emanates from Ibillo elders who up till now have never sat down and come out with an account of how Ibillo came to be. If you arrive Ibillo and take random opinions about their origin you will be shocked at how varied the responses would be.
This explains Prof Michael Ayodele Ajomo's situation.

Even in Igarra, the people initially used to claim Idah Origin due to the seeming similarity between the pronunciations and spellings of Igarra and Igala. It was just 2 decades ago that deep research showed that Igarras actually migrated from somewhere into Kwararafa Kingdom and later moved to Idah before moving down to Etuno.

Ibillo people clearly belong to the Okpameri tribe which is composed of other towns like Imoga, Lampese, Ugboshi Ele, Ugboshi Afe, Ojirami Petesh, Bekumah, Ekor, Ilekpi, Somorika etc. They all speak Okpameri which is Edoid, and defer to Ibillo as their cultural headquarter. So how could Ibillo people alone have come from Yorubaland to become tribally identical with other villages composed of Bini Migrants? It is like an Igbo man migrating to found a town in Ondo State and afterwards that Igbo town becomes 100℅ identical in language and traditions with its surrounding Yoruba towns, and in fact becomes the cultural headquarters of those Yoruba towns which were already in existence before its own founder arrived. How really possible?

Point of correction please; Igarra is not Egbira at all. Those called Egbiras are located in Kogi State. Igarra and Egbira people are both independent subsets of the Oshuku tribe which even has members in Yala LGA of Cross River State. It is wrong to assume that Igarras are a subset of Egbiras. Please read the previous messages here and you'll get to understand this better.

If you base it on fighting for independence, then Herbert Macaulay has it unrivalled because his idea about an independent Nigeria were very visionary.
It is one thing to dream of freedom from external colonization but another thing to think about how to prevent internal recolonization of one another after the external one has ended.

In addition to hoping for independence, Herbert Macaulay was careful not to be in a hurry about it because he could decipher that Nigerians were not yet politically mature and civilized enough to successfully govern themselves democratically since they were still subjects of monarchism in the background. For this reason Macaulay's calculated date for independence was somewhere between 1980 and 1990 to allow them enough time to learn civility and maturity required for democratic governance. But unfortunately, all those so-called founding fathers (Ahmadu Bello, Awolowo, Azikiwe and Balewa) thwarted Macaulay's dream and hurried Nigeria into independence. And here we are today with regret over how too early the independence was as feared by Macaulay. The only early independence apostle who reasoned like Macaulay to some extent was Enahoro who equally feared that certain agreements should be reached in concrete terms before going into independence rather than just going into it blindly as Zik would prefer.

Good day house.
Please I need help to a few questions.
I do more of TBills, and about to divest to Stocks and MMF.
My risk appetite is a bit low since this fund is a family money which I had ran for 3years at minimum of 12% per annum.
Could holding good stocks for a few months give a 20% profit?
My target is keeping it at 20% per annum.
Is stocks the best for me, or MMFs?
In the stock market astronomical gains could be made that could make you happy for the rest of life and, as well, very huge losses which may mar one's emotions for the rest of life could also be incurred. Gains of up to 800℅ could be made within a year if you are of veteran experience in the market while a new entrant with virtually no experience could have all his capital erased or, if he is lucky, stuck in one company for years.

The factors which determine your success level in the stock market are but not limited to:
1. Your real ownership of the funds you hope to invest or at least a long term loan.
2. Maturity and possession of the calmness to bear losses from investment decisions which turn out to be miscalculations in the end.
3. The number of knowledgeable and saavy investors you have as close friends in a network. This forum may serve that purpose for you if you don't yet have such network
4. Appetite for corporate news from and about companies quoted on NSE. This forum can also be of great help on that.
5. Practical experience of buying and selling of stocks like with every other business. It took some of us you see here above 10 years to reach the level from which we all contribute to this very thread you are reading.
6. Knowledge of the history of as many individual stocks as you can. This market is a cycle. Most trends in it are periodic repetitions.
6. A knowledge of extraneous factors that affect the market in general. For example; the foreign reserve and oil price.

In all you must be a very voracious reader of different news about the economy and individual companies.
However, as a beginner the stocks already listed for you are safe enough sanctuaries and reasonable guarantees of your sought 20℅ profit or above per annum.

Follow this thread and your learning time will be shorter than those of us who learned bitterly by induction.

They operate in very corrupt countries. Capitalists are only interested in MONEY. They are happy that there is no MPC because they know NOTHING is changing

The only thing that will drive them away is when your reserves start a free fall and they are not sure how they will carry their loot away. They don't invest with any EMOTION
To corroborate you, there was more heightened political risk in 2007 as the election drew near but NSE ASI kept moving Northwards throughout that year and right into the first quarter of 2008 until a non-political issue that had a bearing on foreign reserve crashed the market.
Foreign reserve is a liquidity of its own which attracts foreign investors even under a dictatorship.

Why is it that Afonjas are bunch of bloody illiterates who don't ask critical questions.

Azikwe served Herbert Macaulay well despite him being a Yoruba.

Macaulay died and pass the leadership position to Azikwe only for Awo not to recognize Zik and wants Zik to serve him.

Is that fair.?
Why is it that Igbos are a bunch of bloody illiterates who believe that whoever takes a position contrary to theirs must be a Yoruba?

And how does Azikiwe's serving of Herbert Macaulay change the fact that it was he who first befriended the North politically?

What makes you believe that you have a monopoly of the knowledge of history at a time the internet is at everyone's beck and call?
How does it make sense for you to accuse Awolowo of not recognizing Azikiwe in the Herbert Macaulay's NCNC which Awolowo was never a member of?
Macaulay handed NCNC over to Azikiwe but Awolowo was never a member of NCNC. So how does the issue of one of them refusing to recognize or serve the other within the party come in? Are you okay at all?
And do you even know the treachery Zik perpetrated for going back to join Macaulay's party after he and others in NYM had all initially agreed that Herbert Macaulay's ideology was not acceptable to them who were youths at that time and that none of them should join him for being too old with his ideology outdated?
What are you saying?

Zik was always too much in a hurry to please the North so that they may remain in his dream "One-Nigeria".

As at 1900 the whole of the present Benue State, the entire Kogi East Senatorial District and some parts of Southern Taraba were all in the Southern Protectorate. It was still this same Azikiwe that deliberately allowed these places to be gerrymandered to the North just to harken to Ahmadu Bello's demand for more political constituencies as condition for the North's staying back in his "One-Nigeria". How was that as a result of Awolowo "not" recognizing him again? When he abandoned Ojukwu and betrayed Biafra cause to join Gowon in restoration of "One-Nigeria" how did Awolowo's "refusal" to "recognize" him cause it?
Awolowo or no Awolowo, Zik was hell bent on pleasing the North at the expense of his own people's blood.
Michael Okpara later regretted advising Zik to accept the 1959 handshake across the desert.
