mitchyy: Is it cool to leave your home holding a bible, magazines, books, pen, notepad, phone and some personal effects all in your hands while preaching from house to house?
This shouldn't be a question bro That is an outward form of religion which has no bearing on actual righteousness. Some denominations also dress in particular ways which to them are the standards of being approved by God as against conduct and inner purity. The holding of Bibles and magazines in hands all over public places is an outward show of religiosity which Jesus condemns. True Christians are supposed to be identified ONLY by very very pleasing godly conducts and the actual manifestation of God's supernatural powers and not by mere showy but mundane activities like holding magazines at motor parks, bus stops and market squares. |

mitchyy: Read to understand not to attack pls. Its simple English I typed bro. Breathe in and out and read again.
I said.... "Even IF the op insults US.."
I see you've been awake for hours waiting for people to attack. Maybe you need to catch some sleep and wake up with a calmer mind to discuss. It'll help. Trust me. Don't make people see you as having a personal vendetta against witnesses. Argue your points calmly without getting unnecessarily angry over everything.
I woke up to attend to my baby so I'll check back later for any mention from you or others. But like I said, calm down. The bolded is rather a hypocritic utterance. The caustic contents of your magazines against other denominations have already left no one in doubt that JWs are actually the ones on a personal vendetta against other Christians. You accuse him of being awake for hours waiting for attacks? Since when has it become a crime or sin to sacrifice one's comfort in non violent defense of one's genuine convictions? Why focus on his zeal and tenacity rather than address his questions? Are you trying to shut him up in a subtle manner by advising him to go and sleep? Ironically you people cry "Persecution!" at the slightest perceived attempts of being shut up by the authorities, yet you are guilty of doing the same here using very subtle and seductive means. |

removetheturban: Is this a Bible verse? Where can we find this in the Bible?
What aspect of the Mormonic doctrines do you find most intriguing? So you mean you have never come across Mathew 7:5 or that your organization believes as usual that it was not in the 'original' text? Matt. 7:5 is the most referenced verse to denounce hypocrisy in modern day Christianity if you don't know. Anyway, how could you have come across it when your organization bans you from doing your own personal study of the Bible and building an opinion independent of Awake or Watchtower contents so that you might not one day begin to challenge its traditional manipulative interpretations aimed at mind control? Jesus Christ Himself made it clear that those who lack conviction founded on a deep personal knowledge of the scriptures are like houses which foundations are built on sand hence susceptible to being easily washed away by whatever apostate doctrine first blows like wind or falls like rain on them. |

alBHAGDADI: Having a website that those hostile countries can access doesn't equate to you being on ground. Apostle Paul had no website, yet he approached difficult terrains to preach.
You claim JW are in every country except 3. Pls, give us addresses of their kingdom halls, especially in saudi arabia and pakistan. You claim you don't want your kingdom hall burnt that's why you don't go there. Do you know the amount of Churches that get burnt in the middle east all the time, especially during Christian festive periods? Has that stopped those Christians from building more? As per the bolded, I sincerely bless God for your wisdom and intelligence. During my service year in the North East a Sharia riot happened in the village I did my primary assignment. An ECWA church which was built from foundation to roof within three months of my arrival there got completely burnt down by the pro-Sharia rioters. But I was astonished when it did not take the congregation up to two months to build it back to a more beautiful state and more sophisticated plan, and they continued to run their weekly activities as if nothing happened. I was not a member of ECWA but I was so impressed by their commitment that till I left there I began to attend ECWA and my own denomination alternately. So why would a serious Christian group fear to explore hostile terrains for fear of their buildings being burnt down when Jesus asked us to rejoice when such happens? |

oteneaaron: There is no word for word instruction per se.
They work with the reasoning that:
-Since Jesus sent his disciples in "two's" and
-He(Jesus) talked about not staying too long in a house and shaking the dust off your feet if your message isn't accepted, and
-Also studying the lives and times of early christians, like Peter who went to the "home" Cornelius....the concluded that preaching house to house was permissible by scripture.
Please note that the JW practice a flawed method of bible interpretation called the "eisgesis" method, where they first create a doctrine and force a bible passage to interprete it.
When the best and spirit led way is the "Exegesis"method where you allow the scriptures explain (under the influence of the holy spirit) and then make doctrine, not the other way round.
Do the math bro. Peter's visit to Cornelius' house was a specific isolated case of a visit made to honour an invitation and not that Peter was going from house to house and Cornelius' house randomly happened to be one of the houses he stumbled on along his path of itinerary. Moreover, he did not really go to evangelize Cornelius as Cornelius was already a believed at that point in time, hence the visit was just to strengthen Cornelius' faith as required of fellow believers towards one another. As per your eigesis vs exegesis methods which you claim is guided by the Holy Spirit: JWs once told the world in a 1902 Awake edition that there was nothing wrong with celebration of Christmas by its members only for it to denounce the festival as evil in later editions. How could the Holy Spirit have guided a people to give a particular interpretation on an issue and then later on guide them to give a directly opposite interpretation to the same issue just some years afterwards? Is the Holy Spirit inconsistent? To me, such an organization is not truly being guided by the Holy Spirit and hence disqualified as God's truly approved one. As for the issue of shaking off dust from the feet, the passage in question mentions entire towns and not houses.[s] oteneaaron: There is no word for word instruction per se.

oteneaaron: In her youthful days, the JW tried different forms of Preaching, and always stuck with what worked during a period of time.
They have tried/done/still using: -Ran radio sermons
-Used vests just like the Lords chosen mopol(i'm freaking serious)
-Used motion picture(photo drama of creation video)
-Cart witnessing(in recent times)
-Public witnessing
- Phonographs....
-And on the streets with loud speakers(m sure you never knew)
-The internet
But the house to house ministry has proven over time to be the most efficient method, altho times are changing.
But the Mormons were doing the house to house before Charles Taze Russell started the bible students(aka JW)....so you could say they were school by the Mormons and Later day saints.
Cheers!! You still have not shown me the specific Bible passage that says it must take the house to house manner. Is it about which one works best or which one the Bible specifies? I thought your organization emphasizes specific biblical directives? |

sylvajoe: 27, 2016 THE FRANCISCO POPE PRAISES GOD’S WITNESSES WORLDWIDE !! Moving – Pascom Porto Feliz: Catholic Conference discusses increasing Witnesses … What drives so many people to become Jehovah’s Witnesses? This was the question asked by some clerics, as shown by the following quotations. For example, in Bologna, Italy, the ecclesiastical authorities, with the approval of the pope, held a conference to discuss ways to combat the success of Jehovah’s Witnesses. The Catholic Church raised a “cry of alarm”, the newspaper La Republica, because every year ten thousand Catholics become Jehovah’s Witnesses. The Jesuit Giuseppe De Rosa said that “the religious point of view the most dangerous are Jehovah’s Witnesses. They come fully trained, and always have the Bible in hand.” In an article that deals specifically with Jehovah’s Witnesses, the Jesuit journal La Civilta Cattolica said: “The first reason for the spread of this movement are the propaganda techniques [ie, in preaching]. On the one hand, the work is thorough, carried from house to house by people who are strictly trained in this work, and are deeply convinced [ …] ” “The second reason for the success of TJs is the force of attraction of Jehovah’s message, because it can meet the needs, demands and expectations of the people of our time. First, answers the need for certainty, which is much appreciated at a time where everything is uncertain and unstable. […] Above all, it is an absolutely safe revelation of the future and, therefore, all who accepted, experience freedom from fear and anxiety and can face the future with joy, with ensuring that survive the destruction that will come the great day of God’s judgment on a wicked world, to live in eternal happiness on earth. Second, Jehovah’s message helps to overcome the concern of the individual against the woes of this world, announces that soon will end the unbearable situation of today, and soon, so there will be a new era will be born a new world in which all the wicked will be removed now triumph. […] ” “The third reason for the success of TJs is that this movement gives its members a precise identity and strong, and is a place where they were greeted with warmth and a sense of brotherhood and solidarity.” The Vatican document analyzed the needs of people today, and the quote above the Jesuit journal La Civilta Cattolica showed that the message of Jehovah’s Witnesses meet those needs. This also showed Vittorio Messori Catholic writer in his recent book Scommesse sulla morte (a bet on death), who writes: “It makes us think that Jehovah’s Witnesses, is one of the religious denominations of the fastest growing in the world. It is among the religions that are practiced in many countries and perhaps […] is first in terms of fervor, zeal, activism, the ability to make proselytes. ” “And his presence, increasingly pronounced, is not limited to Christian tradition countries, but reaching the whole world, where in the name of Jehovah, and before long, they get results that are superior to those of Catholic missionaries, Protestants and Orthodox, who have worked for centuries. ” “This stunning expansive force is incomprehensible only to those who simply do not want to admit that […] course in how to understand the Bible, Jehovah’s Witnesses meet the real needs that other theologies do not meet.” “You can not get around the issue suggesting that the growth of witnesses is because they scare people is precisely the opposite:. Unlike the churches” official “, deny the existence of hell and preach the destruction, disappearance after death to the wicked and unbelieving. This may be an unpleasant prospect, but certainly less frightening than the threat of a terrible pain for all eternity. “Yes, the God of Jehovah’s Witnesses is a loving God, and not one that terrorizes the people . The following quote is the Catholic magazine Mondo ERRE March 1986: “It must be said that Jehovah’s Witnesses are the first to live the faith they preach: Do not IRAM, do not smoke, do not accumulate wealth, remain outside the political discussions […] pay taxes. They live a virtuous and honest life, they are happy and helpful. All this has made people appreciate the ” I’m glad to know that they have had success in evangelizing them my family is Catholic more from small learn to admire their work in all the earth …. About the collections of money from watchtowers offered to people in the ministry, am sure even those siding with u in defaming the witnesses are aware that our watchtowers are never about money, but your desire to read them..#saynotoapostatesandapostatesteachings" Please can you quote that verse of the Bible where Christians are specifically commanded to preach from house to house, and also the verse that shows Jesus preaching from house to house and knocking at peoples' doors to sell magazines towards raising funds for his ministry from people who were yet to accept the religion he was preaching? |

don4real18: Hypocrites everywhere... Ican see comments separating JW from christains. And my question is, what makes you think your own practice is the real christainity. Today, it is Protestants vs Pentecostals, tomorrow, it is Catholics vs Pentecostals. Why? It is a common practice amongst christains to always claim superiority with their denomination... Especially, the Pentecostals. (Before you bash me, you should know I attend a Pentecostal church) The truth is that a large percentage of christains dunno why they are christains and that is why they are easily manipulated by their supposed leader to remain poor while they live expensive lifestyles. Not because I'm a xtain means Islam is bad or a traditional means of worship is evil. Do what works for you as long as it doesn't involve taking the lives of humans or altering it for the benefit of your destiny. As per the bolded, you seem to feign ignorance of the fact that the JW is actually guilty of discrimination against all other Christians whom they derogatorily refer to as Christendom and claim are practising a corrupted and compromised from of Christianity. Have you ever bothered to read Awake or Watchtower to see how at least one article must be dedicated to bashing Catholics most especially? On the reverse, have you ever seen any other Christian denomination dedicate a single line in their magazines to bash any other denomination let alone JW? When other denominations evangelize do they ever made JWs their topics or begin to try to convince people that they are worshipping a false God by virtue of their denominations? You just made inverted accusations here and that is very dishonest. Not that the other denominations are really bothered about JWs envious criticisms. After all we believe Jesus' injunction that as long as they too are not speaking again Christ they aren't really against us. They rather assume they are against us and try to prove it every day while we disagree with them in love as required of us all. |

My reasons for not believing in JW are many. Some of them are as follows: 1. They insist that it is evil to do what is not explicitly commanded by Jesus in literal language, eg Christmas, Easter, etc; but Ironically they see their house to house preaching as a major criterion of Jesus approval of their religion despite the fact that in that chapter where Jesus gave that command He did not specifically insist that the mode of preaching must be house to house. In fact Jesus Himself never did his preaching from house to house but always sat in a far away isolated place with people coming to meet him for his sermons. The only instances of Him visiting people's houses were on specific invitations for His healing miracles, and for such he didn't ever have to knock at anyone's door because his guests were always already eagerly waiting for him outside their houses. But in JWs' case you have to receive them uninvited and unexpected. How does that tally with Jesus' style in the literal sense which they so much emphasize?
2. They don't see themselves as a church. They refer to themselves as an organization even though the Jesus they claim to be emulating 100℅ described his would be followers as a church. It would seem they refrain from using 'church' in order to emphasize their 'uniqueness' in righteousness as they seem to claim. But such is unchristlike considering the fact that Jesus Himself, despite His actual righteousness, never refrained from identifying himself as a member of the very corrupt human race he came to save in the first instance.
3. JWs claim that festivals like Christmas, Easter and others are not celebrated by them because their origins are rooted in pagan traditions and culture plus the fact that the Bible did not so direct. Ironically their members attend and bag certificates from intramural educational systems which is a system as well rooted in paganistic cultures. Initially schooling used to be done by individuals in their private homes. The system of Education that involves gathering people in a single room called a class originated among paganistic societies who found it as a faster way to, in the time of war expediency, teach newly recruited soldiers the art of war tactics like shooting without missing targets, escaping the enemy army, etc which are all technique of the evil and unchristian enterprise of war defined by bloodshed and killing of innocent civilians sometimes. It was much later that the intramural system of schooling was extended to cover other positive professions which have improved humanity. Why JWs attend intramural schools, bag certificates from them and with such certificates earn a living while arguing that paganism rooted practices are evil is what beats me. The day I asked them this question was the day they started avoiding me till today.
4. I once also asked them why they wrote in a 1902 edition of their Awake magazine that there was nothing wrong in celebrating Christmas and New Year only for them to in subsequent years' edition begin to denounce Christmas. The response I got was the Bible verse that " the way of the righteous gets brighter and brighter onto the perfect day". Then I told the JW preacher that a people really being inspired by God would not be inconsistent in their supposedly 'God inspired' doctrine as God is not an author of inconsistency or confusion. How can the all-knowing God tell you to today that nothing is wrong with a festival only for Him to tell you 20 years later that the same festival is evil? I asked him whether the apostles ever preached anywhere and later returned there to adjust the doctrine they had taught them? In fact Paul the Apostle warned the Church in Corinth against believing any adjustment to his teachings even if later done by himself. The JW team could not answer me and till today they avoid me. Many other questions I asked them went unanswered. |

I am not a fan of generally bullish periods. This is because very many stocks rise and fall in a frenzied spate that defies most of the established traditional trading signal for timely entry and exit. But in bearish or equilibrium periods the field of play gets level enough for technicals and fundamentals to rule the day. |

Scientists are correct, humans like what is pleasurable and pleasant to the senses but not what is unpleasant. Naturally, the human mind judges things based on how it feels they should be and not how they really are. drefe2real: And you think the Niger Delta will fair better when they join Biafra? The enemies of the Niger Delta are the Hausa's, the Yoruba's, and the Igbos. The three main ethnic groups are the problem of the region. The Igbos will not use the South South minorities as pawns because they have lost out in federal politics. You Easterners didn't treat the South South minorities better when we were with you guys in the Old Eastern region. Don't come here to pretend that you have our interests at heart now all because you are no longer invited to the party at the national level again You are a genius from the SS. |

smileyoo: mr man read the post again, no land has been given out for any fulani ownership, but a collaborative effort to restrict where the cattles 'll be grazing at a given point in time. its even rotational based on the availability of pastures, even at that am still against the preferential treatment given to them by ebonyi govt, because its a private enterprise. no ibo governor 'll be stupid enough to give-out any piece of land for permanent cattle-colony. Please let's be honest and sincere with ourselves. Would you have issued these rationalizations if a SW governor were the one who did exactly what Ebonyi governor has just done? |

Am I dreaming or what?! According to Zebrudaya; What am I saw and what am I hear?! A governor of an Igbo State making concession of land as grazing reserve for Fulani Herdsmen after the level of name calling the Igbos have trolled other tribes with for the mere suspicion that their being ruled by APC. automatically predisposed them to that? I recall one Igbo moniker here who insinuated that the governor of my state of Edo would be among the first states to dish out lands for grazing reserve just because he is of the APC. I had to remind him that it was only in Edo State that Fulani camps were burnt down and the occupants chased out of the state permanently in spontaneous immediate retaliation for merely attacking a 65 year old farmer in Ovia NE LGA unlike in Enugu where prayers and fasting was declared in response to actual murder of natives by Fulani herdsmen. I also reminded him that the first Southern governor to officially allocate lands to the tune of 1,200 hectares for grazing reserve was a governor not even from the pro-APC SW but of a SS state of Bayelsa in a heavily PDP dominated region. It is quite shocking that the next state on the line is still not a SW state but of Ebonyi in a pro-PDP Region. What is currently unfolding before our very eyes is an interesting irony which stands as an monumental evidence for future reference for the much debated topic of which Southern people constitute the actual slaves to the Hausa-Fulanis and the Northern Oligarchy. |

namdo: That's right. Nigerians did not understand his intention, they killed him whereas that unification was what nigeria needed so everyone could be under same laws rigidly enforced thereby silencing tribalism, regionalism, nepotism which are the real enemies of nigeria's progress today. All academic principles and experiences all over the world had already showed that an experimentation with unitary system in a multi-ethnic society always ended in a failed state status characterized by daily bloodshed, mountainous corruption at the center, inter-tribal armed rivalry, mutual suspicion across tribes, intense inter tribal hatred, the springing up of ethnic militias, etc. Even in Secondary Schools Government textbooks it is written that unitary system does not work in a heterogeneous country. Ironsi passed through at least secondary school. What kind of good intention could make him take a decision which he learnt in school would be catastrophic on the long run? Is the knowledge gained from school not meant to be practically applied in solving societal problems? Ironsi had no good intentions but a hidden agenda to impose Igbo hegemony on the other Nigerian tribes. |
Politics › Re: Regionalism: The Way Out For Nigeria? Let us discuss by Deadlytruth(m): 10:59pm On Feb 09, 2018 |
zendy: Your just being mischevious .you are concerned that Ironsi unified the federal civil service but you dont care that Ironsi left resources control and fiscal responsibility which is even far important. Why arent you calling out Gowon who created states? We are talking about eho burnt the house down, you tslking about who rearranged the furniture. You are not seriouse. In SS2 Government I was taught that the civil service is the only institution through which a government exercises whatever powers it has. Meaning that the civil service is tool which the government uses to generate revenue, allocates same for projects, pays salaries of its workers and performs every other governmental function. In Essence, a government without a civil service is a farce and an illusion. Imagine you are made the governor of your state but your state's civil service is not answerable to you but to Abuja. Please what sort of government would you be able to run under such an arrangement? How will you generate revenue to embark on projects as a governor? Aguiyi Ironsi's centralization of the civil service was essentially a centralization of powers of the regions as no regional government would have been able to exercise its powers without its civil service. Your claim that he left the regions intact after centralizing the civil service is as illogical as the claim that a mechanic who stole the engine of your car did not really change anything about your car as long as he left the body intact after stealing the engine. Centralization of the civil service by Ironsi also automatically translated to the abolition of resource control. Or else how would Ironsi have been able to sustain the payment of the salaries of the centralized civil service without equally having centralized all regional sources of revenue from which their salaries were initially being paid by the premiers of their respective regions? Was Ironsi so rich that he could afford to pay the salaries of the centralized civil servants from his own pocket? The argument that Gowon's creation of twelves states killed federalism is a lame one because the issue in contention here is not about how many subnational units there were but how autonomous they were. Please recall that before Ironsi came on board a fourth subnational units (The Midwest) had been created and others like COR and Middle Belt were already being considered. In fact had the military not come the civilians would have still eventually ended up splitting the regions further on the long run with the constitutional autonomy trickling down to as many as would have resulted. So Gowon's action did not really cause any unwanted change. It was rather Ironsi that fundamentally altered the system by striping the regions and future states of their powers and autonomy through his centralization of the civil service. In summary, Ironsi centralized the civil service and thereby killed the regions. Simple! |
