Why would he take Everton over AS Roma. Is Everton as big as AS Roma? Did you not see how Carlos Ancelotti dumped Everton to go back to Real Madrid.

Do you want to insult Mourinho? Is Mourinho a small coach to go to Everton? Let Everyone sign Pep Guardiola then. Big coaches stay with big clubs. Not big club today and small club or medium club tomorrow. Except for Ancelloti who just wanted to make a name of bringing greatness to an ambitious middle club like Everton.

What is the big deal to play in the Premier League? If he is able to play in Spain, Germany or Italy, it is as good as playing in the Premier League. If he plays in Juventus, Barcelona, Real Madrid, PSG, Bayern Munich, Atletico, Inter Milan, AC Milan, Roma, Dortmund, then he has played in about the biggest teams in the world. Which English team is bigger than this club?

How many world footballers of the year has the English Premiership produced? It is either Spain or Italy. The best players in the world go to Spain or Italy. England only develop players like the other lower leagues. You guys need to leave Nigeria and appreciate what happens in other parts of the world. Not stay and focus on England as if you are still being colonized.

You guys should get some enlightenment before analysing. He is playing for a club and signed a contract. International matches are FIFA approved. If injured, his club takes care of him. Same with players who play for English team.
After his playing career and paying tax in England, he will still be entitled to a pension scheme of he plays and pays tax for a minimum number of years, like all workers and players. Do not forget, he hold and English passport.

In terms of skills. If he played for England at junior level, he can always graduate to the senior national team. English players are not that skillful.

Jaqenhghar:

Is it by playing alone? If he gets injured playing for Nigeria he will be discarded like a used tampon and left to fend for himself.
Lets talk about the market value of playing for Nigeria
Who watches Nigerian matches? Nigeria playing can't be compared to the viewers who will gather to watch the likes of brazil and spain so what is he exactly playing for.
The risks far outweigh the benefits.

We're your forefathers the one who gave the name Nigeria to this area called Nigeria?
The place you know as Africa, were your ancestors the ones that named it?

Names are names to identify anything, person or place.

Who ever you become is according to how you plan your life. There are many kidnappers, ritualists and armed robbers who bear Chukwuemeka, Chigoziem, Chika, Olufemi, Qdegbite etc.

The fact that the Europeans settled in European Quarters in Port Harcourt and named the new city of Port Harcourt after Lewis Harcourt should be an indication that they settled in that area long before they ventured to Onitsha.
Bonny Island has existed as Bonny Island since the 1400s. The name was Okoloma founded by Ibani people but was named Bonny people by the European trading partners who could not pronounce Ibani. Opubo was called Opobo. King Pepple of Bonny had Europeans who were under his employ way back in the 1800, way before the amalgamation of Nigeria before they ventured into Onitsha.. King Jaja of Opobo had European secretaries or aides. This was long before he was abducted and sent on exile before missionaries came to Onitsha.
You guys in the hinterlands need to travel down south, to the Ijaw Islands and get first hand knowledge of your surrounding before basing your facts to only what you know being schools in Onitsha of yesterday.

Some one was asking about the oldest school in Eastern Nigeria being a prove of where the white man settled. He mention CKC Onitsha and another school
I attended Enitonna High School, Port Harcourt founded by Rev. Potts Johnson in 1930.
St. Stephen Cathedral Bonny was the first Anglican Church in Eastern Nigeria and maybe Nigeria.
The Portuguese traded with the city states of Bonny, Opobo, Nembe, Kalabari Benin way back. Opobo was founded by Jaja mad some Bonny Chiefs. Bonny Island was so named because Ibani was a bit difficult to pronounce. Bonny Kings mad chiefs traded with the Portuguese, Dutch way before the British came with their gun boat diplomacy to establish protectorates and colonies.
The trade with the city states along the Bright of Biafra along the Atlantic predates slave era. Some Portugese even settled amongst their trade partners in those Ijaw city states, bearing children who stayed back. In the 1980s, it was very easy to see fair skinned indigenous Bonny and Kalabari indigens and chiefs whose fore parents were descendants of Europeans who stayed back.
Even during slave trade, these Islands were used as slave ports. Most slave were caught from the hinterlands, sold to Bony chiefs (like Jaja who was from Amaigbo in Nkwerri and sold at Azumini-Ndoki to Chief Manual People of Bonny). After slave trade which became illegal, came legitimate trade in oil palm. Legitimate trade brought colonialism and colonialism brought the missionaries who established churches and schools. It was the missionaries who ventured into Igbo land like Onitsha and other parts of Nigeria because their was a colonial Government that provided law and order. Before then, most Europeans who ventured ipast the Islands of the Niger Delta into the hinterlands were eaten by Cannibals. The Royal Niger Company first came mad provided the basis for Colonial government and Christian Missionary.

While the Portugese were exploring the coast of the Atlantic, the Arabs were exploring the North with Islam. While the South adopted European names, the North adopted Islamic names like Mohammed. Islamic names are not indigenous names.
If the Europeans came to Onitsha to establish CKC in the 1920s, they have lived in Bonny since the 1400s. There were times the Europeans owned Port Harcourt which they named after Secretary of Colonial Affairs. The Apartheid in Port Harcourt were blacks can not go near European Quarters which is today's Old GRA, while black workers lived around old Port Harcourt township, where the first Mayor of Port Harcourt, Mr. Ihekwaba, an indigen of Orlu I Igbo land, lived.

Good question.[/quote]

The Oil and gas industry was exempted from the shutdown.

The aviation Operators of Nigeria has issued an ultimatum that the pilots be released in 24hours or they will suspend operations in rivers state for 3months.

Who do u think will lose?

Though I think rivers state would benefit. No more flying in of workers from Lagos and Abuja the companies would look for local residents

Are the pilots and passengers above the law. The fly in in of this passengers into Rivers state has no economic benefit to Rivers state. They fly in from Lagos and leave the state in ruins. They live in Lagos and spend in Lagos. They should work in Lagos.
Rivers state had got nothing to lose if they stop flying in. After all, MEND shut down the oil industry a fee years ago for all the injustice. The injustice continues. Do, if COVID19 issues will help shut down the oil industry in Rivers State and let them have a clean environment to fish and farm, better for them.
The FG is so insensitive to the common man and can not even provide decent hospitals to fight against COVID19. Why risk the health of Rivers residents when they gain nothing from the passengers of the Caverton helicopters?

What are you saying.

Hit the nail on the head.

The Federal controls FAAN.

Take that to the bank.

The president can day all prisoners be released. The police and military are under Federal.

This common sense and shouldn't be a debate

You need some education.

The president does not control the courts. There is separation of power between the legislative arm, judiciary and executive.

The pilots flew into Rivers State. If they stayed within the airport, that is not problem. But, when the passengers step into the streets of Rivers State when their is a restriction order, that is an offence against the state.

The pilots have been taken to court and remanded in custody. The federal government AMD company van send their lawyers to defend them. At the end of the day, justice will be done by the courts.

The government need to respect constituted authority. The minister of aviation need to be properly educated. Aviation is on exclusive list but driving on the street of Rivers State is on residual list. And the pilots brought passengers who went of exclusive jurisdiction into residual jurisdiction.

You SW do not want the North -o retain power, for equity sake, yet you think it is fair for SW to be voted for in 2023 and not SE. Lies from the pit of hell.
If power must shift to the South, South East should have it. Otherwise, power should remain in the North.
I read some SW people say Nigerians will not vote for SE Who are the Nigerians? Are SW the only Nigerians? The middle belt and southsouth are not Nigerians.
4 out of the 6 geopolitical zones decide who the president will be.
Buhari won in 4 geopolitical zones to beat Jonathan in 2015.
Jonathan won in 4 geopolitical votes to beat Buhari in 2011.
The middle belt and southsouth will vote for equity. And they will rather vote for a Northern candidate than vote a SW candidate if the opportunity is not giving to the SE. That means the SW will vote for themselves alone.
Middle belt and Southsouth knows there is injustice that we need to correct. If SE are denied the presidency in favor of the SW it then means that the south south and middle belt will never be allowed to rule Nigeria. God forbid.
Let power reside in North forever until all the south agree that it is the turn of the South East.
By the way, who says the APC will win the 2023 presidential election with the insecurity, poverty, herdsmen, bandits and Boko Haram issues.
For equity sake, it is the turn of SE or The north can keep it.
So because of the SW want power, they betrayed the southern hold on power in 2015. And they expect other southerners to support their quest? No way. Like they helped power to move to the North in 2015, we will help power stay in the North.

Nairaland / General / Playing Outside EPL Is A Different Ball Game. Liverpool Knows. by Deban: 10:37pm On Feb 20, 2020
Playing outside the EPL is a different ball game.
Liverpool is difficult to beat. But Athletico Madrid comes with a game plan that demands being focused for 90 minutes. Thus, Liverpool had more possession but never had a clear cut chance to trouble the Athletico goal keeper.

Ghanaian Thomas Partey matched the Liverpool players in strength and character. He was the strong man for Athletico that confronted the physicality of Liverpool. I would rate him the best player on the pitch today.

This Athletics team that play like crabs. They gather opposing players (with the ball) and never get tired. So no room for Liverpool to float the ball for a header.

Next two weeks is another day.

Travel / Re: Moving Back To Nigeria From USA by Deban: 12:45am On Dec 09, 2017
BluFlyBoy:
The responses to this thread have been very negative. No I don’t have a green card. I’m working on one but the process has gotten very complicated that I’m just contemplating cutting my losses. The attitude on this thread is different from my high school friends who schooled here then went back. Most of them are positive, but some of them are more privileged than I do, so maybe they are not seeing the reality of the country.

My advice, there is nothing like home. Home is where you make it, but you have to be rugged, determined, smart to hit the ground and running.

A lot of people do not fulfill there potentials abroad until they finally come home. In the US or Europe, you don't get close to those in government because you don't know them. there are procurement jobs or contracts by the US or European government. The people in government patronise companies of people they already know, being childhood friends, neighbours, school mates. Now, not being born Americans or Europeans mean you will be a stranger and outsider to this opportunities. You can't really fulfill your potentials. In the end, you end up working forever in US or Europe and live from hand to mouth. In Nigeria, you will have opportunities to own and grow your company and have your childhood friends, school mates in authority patronise you with contract or procurement job or whatever field of specialization. You can actually be employer of labour in Nigeria. Most owners of the new generation banks were trained in US or Europe.

I lived in the Western world for over 13 years, with Masters degree from there. Naturalised and kids. but I struggled from hand to mouth. I worked in the financial industry. I tried coming back several times but left out of frustration. But I know I want to live well and rule my world than live where the time determines what I do, wake, work, gym, watch TV and sleep, only to wake up and repeat same activity the next day, seeing less educated white boys boss me. I know I did not want to see white boys bidding and getting contracts from the borough while I struggle to bid and win after I registered my company. During President Jonathan's era, many US and Europe based flooded Nigeria. I seized the opportunity. I registered a company in Nigeria and started networking and winning contracts. Invested in transport with my buses plying Lagos, Abuja, PH. Expanded my fleet during Jonathan's era because profit was good. Recession has made it difficult making profit but still hanging on. Can actually train my kids in the West from proceeds I make from Nigeria. Can drive Range Rover, Toyota High Lander, Chrysler 300, Sienna paid cash in Nigeria and not mortgage as we so in the western world. I can buy land and build easily with profit from a business in Nigeria. You have to network and work hard. I finally caught up with my friends who stayed back in Nigeria after we left school while I wet overseas. While I was in abroad, they were doing better financially and visited me and I cursed myself for ever migrating. But with determination, I left the circle of work, eat, watch TV, sleep, came down to Nigeria and improved financially, happier, livelier, more comfortable. When things became better, went back and gave out most valuables I had. I can not see myself going back to live permanently overseas again. My very closed relatives who migrated to US in the 70s and with several degrees do not have the cash I have since I came to hustle in Nigeria. Dangote could be the richest African because he is based in Nigeria. He would not have been if he migrated to US or Europe. There is opportunity in Nigeria, but leave your options open to go back if it does not work well in Nigeria. Target a business where you will have 180m Nigerians patronising you. The population is a huge market. Agriculture/farming is lucrative. Eatery or Supermarket can be lucrative too. I know a girl friend who left the US to Nigeria and went into fish farming about the year 1999. By when I came in 2012, she was making a lot of money from it and regretted not coming back from US much earlier. There is nothing like home where opportunities are many, but prepare your mind to deal with security issues, rowdiness, unruly traffic and drivers, bad road, corrupt police, power failure. Your determination to succeed will see you through in Nigeria.

it is fun living in Nigeria.

Its not new. I was at RCCG, Jesus House Amsterdam and the Sunday I paid tithe, my car engine got knocked the next day. My car is the only means of me keeping a job.

I went to the pastor to remind him all he preached about tithe blocking the leakages in out finances. Why would my car engine got broken after paying tithe instead of God enhancing my car as my means of going to work to get income. The pastor said I did not have faith while paying tithe.

Really? Kai pastor. I paid close to 300 Euros as tithe yet I did not have faith? I must be ignorant then.

From.then till date, I have not paid tithe to anyone and have prospered massively.

A banker friend who once asked me if I don't pay tithe because things were rough once, is the one who always beg me to transfer my funds to his bank for him to manage to enhance his career. I have refused to remind him that I have prospered this much without paying tithe.

God has seen my faithfulness to him, toy relatives, friends and less privilege and has rewarded my hard work and good strategy.

Trust me, if Churches were to follow this model, like 90% of the churches we see littering Nigeria would not exist right now. And this is how the church should be: one body that looks out for the welfare of it's members without forcing them to do anything either through use of physical force or emotional duress. But look, our "pastors" are so consumed with enriching themselves, building massive structures and living flamboyant lifestyles that they go over and beyond the dictates of the Bible to extract as much money from people who have so little to give in the first place.

Apostolic Faith is a real church of Jesus Christ where they preach salvation and making heaven, I am sure. Not this bunch of prosperity preaching pastor eating tithe churches.

Crime / Re: Kidnapped British, Ian Squire Shot Dead In Nigeria After Singing “Amazing Grace" by Deban: 6:05pm On Nov 25, 2017

Oh dear lord why? He was a missionary for God sake.

He is a real missionary for God. He left the comfort of his country to help the poor in Nigeria with his skills and died. He did not come to ask for tithe or ask the poor to fund him to buy private jets.

Can the lying Nigerian pastors and General Overseas who own mega churches in the commercial cities, making a big deal about tithe, ever go to the remote areas to attend to poor people. Even invitation to preach in crusades, they ask for honorarium. They go about with body guards enriching themselves from tithes and first fruit offering.

If only this British missionaries can ignore this Africans who still go to the mega churches to give their all but getting nothing in return. This man should have just stayed back with his family and kids in Europe and ask the Oyedepos, Adeboyes, Oyakhilomes, Ibiyomies to do the real missionary work of helping the poor other than owning private jets and 2018 Range Rover SUVs.

Politics / Re: Obaseki Warns Ijaws: "Don’t Take My Tolerance For Granted" by Deban: 3:12pm On Nov 19, 2017

So there is ijaws at edo state eh, i luv them cus they are not coward thou i am an ikwerre man

There aboriginal Ijaws in Edo State (Gelegele axis), Onfo State (Arogbo, Ilaje axis) Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom (Obolo-Ndpni axis).

Why won't Olodiama in Edo State have their own traditional ruler?

It is like saying because the Ikeerris are majority in Port Harcourt, the Abuloma or Okirika speaking people should be under the Eze Apara Rebisi.

The Gelegele or Olodiama people being Ijaws cannot be under the Oba of Benin. Oba of Benin should rule over Beni or Edo speaking people and let Ijaws have their own king.

The IYC is on the matter. They have sent a message to the Edo State goverment not to mess with the Olodiama community, and also congratulated the Pere of Olodiama who is recognised in the Ijaw traditional council.

The Edo State government dominated by Benin people do not have army or police. How do they want to face Ijaw people who control majority of Tue militants. Even the Federal Government is unable to win any war against Ijaw people. The best the government does is negotiate which necessitated the Niger Delta Amnesty. The Federal government had to succumb to the fact that the army cannot subdue the Ijaws and let Tompolo be.

ImagineTompolo, Ateke, Asari Dokubo sending IIjaw boys to take over Edo state, even the Oba of Benin will run from his palace.

One thing we have learnt is not to mess with Ijae Youth Council and militants. Benin people will not be able to stand Ijaws in any communal crisis. It should he avoided.

Peace is priceless. The Edo State government should pursue peace and do away with modern slavery. Let Ijaw people have their king. Why should Benin king rule over Ijaws. It is like the same thing happening in Ilorin where an Emir is ruling over Yoruba people or in the North where Fulani emirs rule over indigenous people.

Crisis loading in Edo state. They should dialogue and pursue peace.
