damilade: Just a question, for those presently in the USA for birthing purpose. Did you obtain the visa for medical or for tourism. Medical & tourism are under same class of visa B1/B2. If your visa is approved you get B1/B2 |

knicks231: My first and previous in same category ofvisa was issued in Belfast, United Kingdom and it expired in 2020, when I applied here in Nigeria like my other two (2) colleagues that applied in United Kingdom. So it doesn’t mean if you were not issued previously in Nigeria you won’t be qualified for Dropbox. The rule as of 2022 till date is what I’m quoting

knicks231: My last visa was issued in Belfast, Uk I applied and I got in Nigeria, also with two other of my colleagues that went to school in UK then. For her to qualify for Dropbox in Nigeria, her last visa must have been issued in Nigeria, same classification as her current application; and was a full validity, multiple entry visa. The reason she got bounced this time was because she applied solely for the purpose of child birth. |

TWoods: No such law exists. S.17 was introduced in the Senate but never went beyond the first reading. Considering the House was in Democrat hands then, S.17 was dead on arrival.
However, a State Department rule states birth tourism is an impermissible reason to obtain a US visa. The VO was right and it was foolish to argue with her about her own country's laws. I co-agree! |

fkj950ax: There is a law against birthing in the US. The VO is right. You never stood a chance at all.
S.17 — 117th Congress (2021-2022) Ban Birth Tourism Act This bill provides statutory authority for the ban on admitting an alien into the United States as a nonimmigrant if the alien's primary purpose for entering is to give birth to a child in the United States in order to obtain U.S. citizenship for that child. A bill is not a law until it passes all the vetting and deliberation stages and it is assented to. Just to add, this bill never became law. By the way I told the officer that my sole purpose of getting in during my last travel was to have my baby and he asked me how long I was staying I told him 12 weeks, he had zero issues whatsoever and it was a breeze. I have renewed my visa also. Also, gone are the days we strolled into the embassy and we just say I’m going to have my baby and they grant visa solely for that purpose, all that easy era has gone because of a few people who broke and burnt the bridge after crossing it to have theirs. It’ll be pretty difficult to procure a visa for a first timer who has never been to the usa or had a never used visa and wants to renew to go solely for the purpose of birthing. Nothing is impossible but it’ll be pretty difficult. |

Ess: Funny im not, this isnt my first or second US visa. I have just forgotten the sequence. It helps in answering other's questions. And yes there is anxiety whenever a person is applying for a visa especially the US. After approved then it changes to issued, once it’s issued in 1-3 days you’ll get a pickup email. If you’re carrying this green passport there will forever be anxiety. |

PS: February 2024 visa dates available at the moment, checked few minutes ago. Medicals for B2, nah it's not compulsory, you don't need it. |

(P.s I have booked an appointment at NIS for capturing but it won’t be Available till after the interview) They won’t let you in with a passport with less than six months validity, get the new passport and go there with it , find someone to get the new passport out for you before your interview. No embassy issues visa on a passport with less than 6 months validity. |

bibiliscious: Good afternoon All,
please whats the procedure to apply for us visa for an infant (Mother already has her visa) Reason for trip: Vacation
is it the same normal procedure for kids or is there an exception since its a baby and will the baby need to do physical interview? Same process, fill the form and just follow the prompts you get when it’s time to schedule appointment then it’ll lead you to Dropbox since it’s an infant. |

practicalclass: But won't filing take longer?
I just now want to visit to see my grand kids. Filing takes long but it also varies. I know a couple of people who filed for their parents and while some took long some didn’t take long. In that 24 month wait you had, if you’d filed it would have come through by now already. I’m sorry about the refusal and I can understand how you feel. |

practicalclass: Good day all,
So my visa interview outcome was that it was denied after waiting for 24 months from time of application to finally getting interviewed. The VO asked how long I was going to stay for and I said 2-3 months but in the application, it stated 5 months because at the time I was going to assist my daughter who just gave birth. The VO asked about the 5 months in the application and I explained that that was because initially I wanted to help with taking care of the babies but that now my visit is just to see the grown babies hence the reason it is shorter.
Please any advice or suggestion as I plan to re-apply so I can see my grandkids.
Thank you, 5 months is a lot of time to stay if you claim you have a business or any source of livelihood in Nigeria and especially if this is your first travel to the USA. 2-3 months is also a lot for a first timer. The V.O probably thinks you won’t return most especially because of the length of time you already stated, he/she will think it’s convenient for your daughter to make you stay longer than stated because child care is expensive in the USA. Also, if your child is a citizen it’s easier for her to file for you than for you to go through this rejection stress after 24 months of waiting. |

Thanks all Yes you can, so far as Nigeria was country of issuance it can be either in Lagos or Abuja. It’s the country of issuance that matters. |

FruitfulV: Hi everyone, I applied for Dropbox last year immediately the ban was lifted. However, I was to come in for physical interview. My visa wasn’t granted. I believe it was cos I had my baby in the USA and I didn’t inform the consulate. The lady kept on repeating, “you had a baby in the USA”. I had no idea until I went in for my interview. Now my next interview date is close and I don’t know if anyone has had a similar experience and what they did differently. Your response will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Did you divulge your intentions to have a baby at the point of entry? I know a couple of people who had the same situation but eventually got granted the visa, they didn’t do anything different. Just take your zero balance letters and necessary receipts and be eloquent, hope for the best too. |

You’ll be emailed the approval to choose a date for drop off after you have completed the application for appointment on the cgi portal. We are no longer in control of how we submit again. When you get the approval you’ll see the dates available and choose one that suits you best for the submission. |
