Politics › Re: Court Extradites Nigerian To Us For N125.3m Fraud by Dede1(m): 2:28pm On Feb 03, 2012
I am against extradition of any sort. Nigeria should not extradite its citizen to USA. If an American commits heinous in Nigeria and escapes to USA, there is no way USA government would extradite the American to Nigeria.

If Nigerians can not economically and socially fix their country to the level of respectability in the eyes of the world, I suggest Nigeria be disintegrated.

Any real or imagine Nigerian who dismisses this interview with a wave of hand is a sleeping nincompoop. There is no smoke with fire. The interviewee left some sticky points that stood out which an insider could only attest.

He mentioned names and places where he and co-trainees were schooled in act of warfare. In addition, he talked about indelible marks on their bodies with distinguishable signs. Nigerian government should start the investigation by examining the bodies of co-trainees such as Ali Baba Nur, Asari Dokubo, Jasper Akinbo, Mohammed Yusuf, Salisu Maigari, Danlami Abubakar, Cletus Okar, Ali Qaqa, Maigari Haliru and Asabe Dantala if they are still alive and reachable. This is a serious allegation.

Granted there were cases of exaggeration and outright conjecture in the excerpt, however if I should go by the instances of making Nigeria a member of OIC by IBB, the current champion of Islamic Bank, the new IGP, CP Zakara Biu, Dambazzou the former Army Chief, stunning silence of well-placed northerners and Islamic leaders over the menace of Boko Haram and the promises made before, during and after presidential election including inherent stupidity displayed by southerners, I say ignore this revelation at your risky.

Without a king to lead an expansion campaign they remained unknown to the West African civilizations and Imperial societies. Now that they have been taught by the Binis and the Igalas . . . they since became aggressive trying to assert their uncivilized culture in parity with that of their colonizers - the Binis and Igalas.
I guess stupidity can not be fixed. Sometimes, it is an inherent thing. What has King or Queen got to do with civilization? There were various systems of government all over the world.

Some people chose monarchy or Oligarchy while few decided to adopt democracy or representative form of governement. Ndigbo happened to adopt democracy or representative system of government. Even the colonialists did not understand the complex system Ndigbo ran before they arrived at the coast of Africa.

Is it not funny the same colonialists who did not seem to grasp the system adopted by Ndigbo are forcing everybody to go democracy or else.
Politics › Re: The Voice Of Igbo Israel - The Igbos Of Nigeria And Their Osu Problem. by Dede1(m): 10:24pm On Feb 02, 2012
Among the Igbos one is an Osu if one is a descendant of an Osu man or woman. In other-words one is an Osu if one is a member of an Osu family. Osu families exist in almost all the clans that constitute the Igbo people. Accordingly the Igbos know who is an Osu, because Igbos proper identification is by their clans and families. The writer; Remy Chukwukaodinaka Ilona can be very easily traced in Igboland if the person interested in tracing him finds out that he is from Ozubulu. The next step is to ask about the Ilona family, and in minutes the author will be accounted for. The same way the author could be traced is the same way that Igbos know who is an Osu and who is not one.

Since most Igbos would remember, the Osu is among the Igbos an inferior Igbo. He or she could be very well educated, and be super-rich; but to the rich, educated, very religious, poorest, not educated, and irreligious Igbo, he or she is still an inferior person. He could even be a Christian priest, thus falling into the category of Igbos that command respect among the Igbos today, yet to the Igbos he is still inferior. He is less than a ‘normal’, ‘freeborn’ Igbo. An Osu man would not be inducted into the prestigious ozo society of the Igbos, nor would he be made a traditional ruler in any Igbo clan, even if he is the most qualified member of the clan. .An Osu can hardly get a spouse of his choice from a non Osu Igbo family.

Today only very very few Igbos know why the Igbos treat fellow Igbos in such an ungodly way. Physically the Igbo who is an Osu, and the one who is not, are the same. They shared the same Igbo culture (Omenana), which it must be mentioned that the Igbos have generally abandoned, as they are abandoning the Igbo language. Since the Igbos are almost all Christians today both would invariably be Christians. Yet in spite of all these shared commonalities the non Osu Igbo still looks down on the Osu Igbo, and would not intermarry with him or her. A few Igbos, a few that can be counted off one’s fingers have tried to cross the lines. Their families have generally disowned and ostracized them so that the entire family would avoid the taint, and the disadvantages that follow being an Osu. Today there are millions of Igbos consigned to perpetual spinster-hood and bachelor-hood because of this problem. Well meaning Igbos; of Osu, and non Osu stock have tried to fight the problem, but have failed woefully, because rather than getting weaker, the discrimination is getting stronger. In my opinion Igbos have failed to tackle the problem successfully because the matter has not been studied at all. Any problem that is not studied cannot be solved.

I am from a noble Igbo family that was chosen to become a royal family when the Igbos began to have kings in imitation of their neighbors; the Igala, and the Bini.
Honestly speaking, both the author and poster are dunces of irredeemable proportion. The idiotic writer indicated that both Osu and Diala shared the same Igbo culture (Omenana) which I believed gave rise to issue in discuss. If Osu and Diala share the culture and tradition, why is the author having migraine headache?

There no doubt the author is dead stoned when concocting this junk. If Ndigbo had generally abandoned the culture which stood-up Osu and Diala issue as they have abandoned the Igbo language, which the writer brought to the fore, the author should have discerned such system died a natural dead if he or she had few brain cells.

The poster of this thread has issue with actual meaning of certain English words. It is unfortunate the original poster and subsequent ones seemed to intertwine intelligence and literacy in a misguided comparison with illiteracy.

Of course, Balewa was a very intelligent man and not a dunce since he never went unclad in the public or on the podium. He was never seen picking foods on the street or chasing after beautiful women. Even he knew where to buy fine gworo. In fact, intelligence has minimal part to play in a person’s belief or lack thereof. Beliefs are notoriously false.

As for literate, the last time I checked though, he was trained as grade II teacher. At the era in question, he was qualified to be a headmaster or principal. It is erroneous strain in judgment that certain folks still had the audacity to call a person who can read and write an illiterate.
Politics › Re: Ojukwu’s Burial: S’east, S’south To Be Closed Down, As Uwazuruike Blasts by Dede1(m): 6:23pm On Feb 02, 2012
Uwazuruike does not mean entire so-called South-south should shutdown because of Ojukwu’s burial. However, he is beckoning the Igbo indigenes of the so-called South-south to observe a moment of final respect to Emeka Ojukwu, the Ikemba. It is the culture and tradition of Ndigbo to accord a dead certain respect in Igbo land.

This call by Uwazuruike to mourn Ikemba does not in anyway or shape extends to all non-Igbo people in South-south especially those who fought alongside Hausa, Fulani, Kanuri, Yoruba, Tiv, and Nupe against Biafra. It is a display of ignorance if the backstabbers in South-south remotely construed the call to mourn Ojukwu included them. I have repeatedly lamented that Ndigbo should always wish to forge ahead with entirely Igbo people and maybe Ibibio, Annang, Ogoni and Ijo (Okirika/Kalabari).

What is the name of the local you are talking about?
By God’s grace I shall become governor of Imo State.

Have you inquired the fate of Imo Transport Company allegedly privatized by the Okorocha’s government?

Talk of the shady transaction, there is none worse than the so-called sell of ITC to private company known as Global Ginikana. Have any of the so-called Imo State indigenes request the information on the so-called Global Ginikana and who owns it?

Something is terribly fishy if the government should sell an agency that allegedly rakes N10m a month into government’s coffer to an unknown company that offered N360m but only advanced N200m. Global Ginikana exists only in the world of Rochas Okororcha.

I do not partake in any shady business. As a governor, I would rather restructure the agency into viable entity than sell the agency setup by my cronies or fictitious company erected by my wife.

There are bruises and scratches involved in outdoor's outings that generate fun .

Okorocha’s government of Imo State has not paid teachers for the past three months and yet the governor parades himself as educationist. Not long ago, one of the aides named Barr. Okorocha told the people of Imo State that the government ministries need to be privatized. My first question to the jackass named Barr. Okorocha if he understands the ideology behind democracy or essence of government at all. I also told the deluded aide to the governor that Imo State will also privatize the position of governor as well as uncountable aides attached to the office of governor.

I hope the Imo people are not seriously hoodwinked. The governor and SSG attempted to con the judiciary commission by spreading news indicating intention of the government to dissolve the standing commission. But he ran into a brick wall with judges who are members of the commission. It was this case that spurred to inquire if Rochas Okorocha truly has a law degree. The answer I uncovered should not be made public on this forum.

Who would want to pay for a water bill when there is either irregular supply of the resources or no supply at all? The people are sinking boreholes with alacrity and selling water at cheaper rate to people. Some of us allowed people in our neighborhoods to draw water free of charge. Who in his or her right sense would want to pay electricity bill when so-called PHCN does not perform?

I bet u, if my state gets a man half as smart as him as a governor things will definitely change. I lived in imo state for like 8yrs. All the water corporations are just moribund structures lying waste since the exit of sam mbakwe. If the man came up with the idea of restructuring the corporation, its a welcome idea. the lines are still there and moreover its not every family that can afford the borehole thing. The structures are still there in okigwe, orlu and owerri.
Kudos to him.

as for the massive development, the only thing i saw recently is the expansion of the road from orlu main town towards Akokwa axis and also from orlu towards owerri. Sources said that the idea is actually dualization of the said road.
I do not give a fig about alleged smartness of Okorocha. The fact is Douglas road in Owerri remains an eye sore. On the December 22, 2011, I stood somewhere near the so-called Ama Awuasa when suddenly I heard commotion and noise coming from the Okigwe road side of Douglas road. I inquired from a follow bystander what the hell was going on. He told me it was “awareness” program by Okorocha.

To my greatest shock, I saw Okorocha riding in an opened “keke-na-keke” right square in the middle of drunks who were singing and dancing along the filthy and garbage ridden Douglas road. I asked another question to a fellow bystander inquiring if Okorocha realized that a major road such as Douglas has been taken over by garbage and trash. Or did he choose to keep closed eyes to filthy state of Douglas road and play the undiscerning masses like a samba?

The state of condition I saw Douglas road, especially where Old Market road joins Douglas forced me not make a second trip to Douglas road throughout my stay in Owerri.

Roachas Okorocha has not completed 25 yard long job on the road dualization project started by Ohikim. Okoocha constantly maintained the clearing of brushes at Orlu-Port Harcourt road junction, opposite F U Anyawu's steel industry, for more than a month.

On Owerri/Port Harcourt road dualization project, Imo state’s responsibility remains stagnate at where Okakim left it.

However, I shall commend Okorocha for grading, placing laterite and compacting obscure streets in Owerri. I hope the compacted streets are tarred before raining season shows up.

oduasolja:
To the Editors:

…I share Mr. Diamond’s admiration of the Ibos as a people. Their energy and talents, however, do not lead me to ignore the needs and rights of the 40 percent minority in Eastern Nigeria who did not want to be part of Biafra. The Efiks, Ijaws, Ibibios, Annangs, Kalabaris, Ogojas and others had been taken advantage of by their Ibo neighbors for decades. These minority tribes had asked repeatedly for independence from the Ibos since the 1950s.

The minority people within the East preferred to be free of Ibo domination by having states of their own as promised by the Federal government. But the Biafran leadership denied them the same right it claimed for itself vis-à-vis the rest of Nigeria, the right of self-determination and protection from victimization….

[Diamond] first exalts the Ibo people, with some justification, and then exalts Biafra, without considering that the two were not identical. True, there were minority persons within the Biafran leadership, but these were mostly “co-opted” (bought off) persons regarded as quislings by their own people.

Within the East, prior to secession and afterwards, there was no free expression of opinion by the minority groups, and Biafra was created without any democratic consultation of the minorities. Hand-picked “representatives” voted for secession or were locked up in Enugu. After the Biafran army had taken hundreds of hostages to its shrinking enclave it dared to call for a plebiscite in the victimized areas.

Reports of Biafran terror and intimidation to ensure “support” from non-Ibo areas never reached the American public because of the press’s quick identification of the Ibos/Biafrans as the “underdog.” I have missionary reports of burnings of villages (as many as 400 homes at a time), mass graves (sixty men, women and children buried alive at Ndiya), and massacre of non-Ibo civilians by Biafran forces. But these things made the Biafrans look more like Nazis than Jews and conflicted with our preconceptions about the situation. They were therefore given no publicity.

For Ibo secession (planned already in mid-July, 1966) to succeed, it needed to annex the territory of neighboring tribes and in particular to have the oil resources and facilities of Port Harcourt in Ijaw territory. I find in my estimation of the Ibos as a people no justification for the Lebensraum philosophy of the Biafra leadership or of the Anschluss of neighboring territory and people.

An indication of the antipathy felt by “fellow Biafrans” toward Ibo overlordship before and especially during secession was the terrible killing of Ibos in non-Ibo areas once the Biafran army was forced to retreat. Ironically, it was the Federal army which protected Ibo civilians from reprisals of their non-Ibo neighbors once the army had gained control of the areas. But this was never reported.

Non-Ibos objected to secession because they feared being “second class citizens” in an Ibo-majority Biafra. Mr. Diamond’s article mutely confirms this objection. Ijaws, Efiks, Ibibios and other non-Ibos are as invisible in his reporting of Biafra as American blacks were in most reporting of the US until only recently….

The first two paragraphs of the above conjectural crap further co-signed the piece into a trash can. The author vomited his or her ignorance when stating the minorities demanded seperate state from Biafra. If the minorities had ever demanded separate state or region, it was definitely not from Biafra or even eastern region.

If the ridiculous fo.ol who claimed to be knowledgeable expert on the eastern Nigeria knew the composition of the executive members of Biafra, he or she would be ashamed for getting involved with this hack job.

It is very clear the so-called author of this junk does not know the minority ethnic groups in eastern region. The sample of the listed minority groups in article domiciled within eastern region speaks volumes about the mental state of the author

It is very funny the deluded author managed to avoid dates, names that were allegedly handpicked and commander of Biafran Units that committed the atrocity. I am not sure the author knew that most of Biafran brigades that saw battle in the sectors that cover Cross River and Akwa Ibom states were commanded by officers native to the area.

Okorocha claimed Imo State does not have money yet he was playing Father Christmas by presenting Toyota Prado to each 27 members of Imo State House of Assembly. He also extended such expensive gift to members of his executive council.

Since taking office, Owerri in particular and Imo State in general is filled with Toyota Hilux Pickup and Prado trucks. Further inquiry about governor’s reckless spending on such Japanese products instead on INNOSON’s revealed he owns Toyota dealership in Jos, Plateau State where he based before becoming a governor.

Dede1, Na waa for you. Am from Umuowa in Orlu. Come and see what Rochas is doing. Lots of House were affected by massive construction everywhere and people are happy that their houses and lands were taken for developments. U need to c the joy in Orlu, Okigwe. I never wanted to join issues with you guys, but I really doubt that any reasonable person could talk bad of Rochas for now. We now have a double lane and an international market in less than one yr. Thank you God for sending Rochas to us.
Bros, good to hear you are from Umuowa, Orlu. My best friends are from Umuowa, Orlu. I used to go to Umuowa every week in the 80s. I used to take-off from Owerri via Orlu road passing Ubomiri/Orodo/Umuaka/Nkwume then head to Umuowa.

During my visit to Umuowa in December 2011, there was no revelation of magical performance by Okorocha. The proximity of Umuowa to Orlu is likened to Orji to Owerri or even Umuma to Orlu. So any form of development hitting Orlu urban seemed to rob off on communities such as Umuowa or Umuma.

I hope you are not suggesting that Okorocha, for the last 6 months in the office, also built Owerri/Orlu road.

The author of this article is still lives in a cave and thinks security comes only from the police. For Nigerians to enjoy little sense of democracy, the right of citizens to bear arms should not be impeded.

Self preservation is the first law of nature. In the first republic, Nigerians were allowed to bear firearms legally and the people enjoyed peace of the mind.

Since after Nigeria/Biafra civil war, the fear of losing the booty of the war and realization that keeping the masses self-defenseless allows the few to rob the masses silly hence prohibition of legal acquisition of firearms by private individuals.

@cap28 and dede1 shut up ur stinking mouths, if u dnt knw anythng about imo state ask we the residents we will tell u. Wen i see the rate of development in imo state this days i wonder where the money is coming from. I invite u to Orlu or okigwe to come nd see real development. google travellers
I think you drooling numbskull should shut up your putrid mouth. There is no doubt you sounded like panhandler or a butt sucker. Okigwe and Orlu are not my type of cities. At least, a town should be a state capital in Nigeria to attract my attention, olodo. grin grin grin

Rochas Okorocha has nothing that I need so speaking about his shortfalls as a leader does not perturb me a bit.

I never visited Owerri during Ohakim’s stay in Office but the current sight of Douglas Road in December 2011 spurred me to inquire if the unacceptable filthy situation of the major road in Owerri was as bad during Ohakim. The answer I received from many individuals, including Okorocha’s apologists, was a stunner.

Those your colleagues must be blind or they need to visit Niger Optical. If they can't see by themselves while in owerri i don't think telling them will make any diff. Not only in Owerri go to Orlu as well if you still can't see them you need spiritual help.
Apart from the two roads (the road off Nekede Road that leads to Akanchawa road and the road that goes through Egbeada extate to Onitcha road) that is with Ohakim useless bridge tell me any other road you will see pot hole in Owerri. Go to Orlu, Orlu-Owerri road, Amaigbo road, Enugu road, Bank Road, Owuns Ave, the road to ideato from Beach. All these road projects are going on right now.
This is a fool’s delight. Only drooling dimwit would insinuate that Okorocha build the roads mentioned for less than 1 year in office as governor of Imo State. I traveled to Obodo-ukwu, Ideato North LGA during December, 2011.

While going to Obodo-ukwu, I chose the Anara-Okwelle-Dikenafai-Isiekeneshi-Dimgba-Ogboko-Urualla Junction road and had the pleasure to inquire from the villagers who built the road and the answer was Udenwa/Ohakim. By the same token while coming back to Owerri, I decided to take Urualla Junction- Umuma-Nkwere-Umu-ozu/Isu-Agbaja/Isu-Amaraku road and my question to the villagers about who built road, again the answer was Udenwa/Ohakim.

Other than repaving the Ogbo oshishi end of Wetheral road and grading some obscure streets in Owerri, I guess the Okorocha’s achievement is a misguided hype. This does not mean Okorocha would not achieve anything or perform admirably during his term as governor of Imo State.

Dede you just taking poo. I left Owerri on the 17th and can confirm that you are blinded by sentiment. Get over it Ohakim did not achieve what Owelle has achieved within this shot period. As for water running in Owerri, thats what Ohakim did not stop, right from Mbakwe till 17th of this month there is water in every compound in owerri(Not Borehole). I have a project going on right now in Umuguma after world bank, i have never spent a dime on water.
In orlu where i come from we use to have water from the Orlu water works every weekend. Pipe is layed from the water corporation site to almost all communities in Orlu. We have a tap in my compound that my father use to 10naira every month then. So saying that their is no layed pipe is just being wicked/mischivious.

@Topic
Commendable, i was even thinking when is he going to start doing something on water not knowing that he has this coming. The way he is going, i see every access road in Imo being tarred before he end his first term.

Kudos Owelle.
You are very silly to inject element of sentiment into this debate. I do not give a hoot about Ohakim or Okorocha. Both governors have never and will never provide anything to me to sustain a living.

If I did not spend quality time in Orlu during December 2011, I would have given a considerable thought to the idea of relocation from Owerri to Orlu after reading the crap you posted about Orlu and Water Corporation. The last time I checked though, Owerri is not in the same league with Orlu.

When I visited Orlu, a mechanic workshop caught fire and it was allowed to born completely because of lack water and fire service yet Orlu is municipality with functional Water Corporation. I guess there is also a Water Corporation Football Club of Orlu.
