The so-called angry god named Uti is as misguided as Gen. Israel Akpodoro, commander of army without country. Gen Akpodoro is ridiculously funny as shown by the action of the community and the god, Uti. The god should be angry at 222 Battalion and its commander instead of the youths of gbaregolor community.

Does Abdulrazaq Oyebanji Hamzat pray everyday? If Hamzat’s answer is yes, I guess he or she should stop praying because God or Allah has heard your prayers yesterday. If Hamzat thinks God or Allah has not heard his or her prayers to warrant another, there are people in Nigeria who think God has not yet blessed Nigeria enough. smiley smiley smiley

Dede you are on point the thing is that many people have already sold their conscience to emotions that they lack the moral will to say anything bad bout the man. this is a clear case of the more you look, the less you see. if you are a civil servant in Imo state you will understand very well what I am saying. A man that creates a fourth tier of government that is unconstitutional and then  neglect and try overthrow the third tier of government. A man that wants to privatize the civil servants in the local government service commission and leave them to the detriments of the EZEs. A man who immediately after his assumption of office decided to relocate the state university to his village even when a place was hitherto mapped out for the relocation. A man of too many words. I understand that Rochas is a philanthropist no doubt about that, but quote me anywhere any time, he is no good administrator. Chikina

I am not a hero worshiper and shall never be one. Some people have alluded that Okorocha is working and performing. Of course, Okorocha is working by awarding one contractual project twice to two different contractors. Okorocha is working by playing Father Christmas to the members of Imo State House of Assembly. Okorocha is working when the project relates to building gigantic Iron-Gate on the entrance way of Concorde Hotel. Okorocha is working by shutting down the public roadway through the governor’s office located near the Modotel hotel whenever he is leaving the governor’s office for a short break. Okorocha acts and behaves as if he is leading flock of ninnies. I hope my assessment of him is totally wrong.

Okorocha is working and yet teacher’s and civil servant’s salaries remained unpaid. The only people getting paid regularly in Imo State are LGA TCs (Transition Chairmen) who lost bids to Imo State House of Assembly under APGA. My friend was appointed deputy chairman to one of the LGAs in Imo State and he has not being paid a kobo.

My brother-in-law who resides on one of those streets Okorocha has graded and poured laterite then compacted without tarring bitterly complained his street was rendered impassable for more than three days when it suddenly rained in Owerri during January 2012.

Honestly I wonder about your fixation on Douglas Road!

Douglas Road in Owerri has a very sizeable market close to the middle of it; there are bus-parks along the same route; and a lot of commercial activities on that road. And the filth you talk about is not as bad as you portray it. I was in Owerri myself during Christas/New year period, and I can attest to this. Even though  my journey was as short as Irete/Orogwe to Douglas road, I couldn't help noticing another major road (some say it is Aba bypass) being constructed after the Assumpta/Control area.

While there is no single governor in Nigeria today that can be considered a saint, Rochas so far has done enough to win the admiration of so many foes.

I won't ask you to stop your relentless attacks on his person but I can't help imagining that you appear to have an axe to grind with one of the shining light of South East. Whatever it is I believe you have you reason to doubt his intention and action.

As for the rest of us, Rochas is much better than Ohakim, that is indisputable, and that is exactly what the people of Imo state voted for - progression!

@topic
I think this is a good move. One man cannot do it alone. However, the supervisory oversight have to be up to the task. In all, if 20 out of 27 of the councils are able to deliver on the project, that is a very solid step forward in the ongoing infrastructural development of Imo State. It is laudable!
My fixation on Douglas Road is a personal one established when Owerri was almost a one-street town. I have interest on the Douglas road starting from 6B Douglas road though 56 Douglas road and 52 Old Market Road. As recently as December 2011, I visited these joints once and refused to attempt the second visit. Like you mentioned the activities at Eke Onunwa do not help matters for the major road.

However, I asked if the filthy and lawless scenery of Douglas road and its junction with Old Market road was unbearable during Ohakim's regime. The answer was a capital NO. I ask why so, the answer was Okoroacha is “Nwoke Obioma”, a philanthropist who would allow Keke na Keke, market men/women and transporters at the parks to takeover the major roads.

I asked what happened during Ohakim’s era; my sister-in-law said Ohakim would come with Mobile police to clear the roads and knockdown illegal stalls that have taken over Douglas road and adjoining ones. She said Ohakim’s nonsense approach was one of the reasons she did not vote for Ohakim because he did allow people mess up the road.

I do not give a ratarse if your name is Mbakwe, Udenwa, Okakim or Okorocha and you were/are a member of NPP, NPN, UPN, PDP, APGA, CDC, ACN or PPA however as a governor of Imo State, I would want the governor’s performance to match the wind-aided rhetoric and news media based propaganda.

I would not have responded to your post if you have limited it to the alleged promises made by Okorocha. However if you believed Okorocha accomplished all you have written in less than 6 months in the office as governor of Imo State, I shall say malaria is a common sickness in Nigeria.

Precisely on December 10, 2011, I traveled to Obodo Ukwu, Ideato North LGA. I set-off from Owerri to Amaraku decided to use Anara-Okwelle-Dikenafai-Isiekeneshi-Dimgba-Ogboko-Urualla Junction road. Bear in mind that Okorocha is from Ogboko, Ideato South LGA and people from his village said the road was built by Udenwa/Ohakim government. When returning to Owerrri from Urualla Junction, I decided to use Orlu/Umuma-Nkwerre-Umu Ozu/Isu-Agbaja/Isu-Amaraku road. Again, the people along these road stated the road were built by Udenwa/Ohakim government.

In fact Okorocha must be a God-sent magician if he accomplished the construction of the roads mentioned on your post. The intended Owerri ring road that would pass through mechanic village in Owerri still remains untouched since Ohakim left office. The construction work on Owerri/Port Harcourt express carriageway remains stagnated on the Imo State portion.

However, it was never a dull moment at Ikenegbu hill towards Orji where Okorocha center or whatever is situated because he was seen in the complex everyday playing Father Christmas by giving out free kerosene.

Men such as Ezeife should use their position to advocate the need for the Nigerians to be able legally bear arms and carry concealed weapons.

If the southern Nigerians have the archaic culture of carrying concealed dagger, the practice would have been banned by succession regimes of military and civilian of Nigeria led by northerners.

We shall not allow the schemes such as ban on the ownership of weapon by Nigerians manifested by the Nigeria/Biafra civil war to continue without challenge.

Imo State Government has released the sum of N1b to each of the 27 local government areas to execute 15km road projects and other capital projects which it had earlier approved.
Out of this amount, the sum of N200m will first be released for the first phase of the projects.
According to a communiqué issued after a joint meeting among Governor Rochas Okorocha and Commissioners, Special Advisers, members of Imo State House of Assembly, Chairmen of Local Government Transition Committee and Traditional Rulers, a contractor is expected to do a minimum of 5km of the 15km road projects approved for each of the local government areas in the state.
The chairmen were equally requested to acquire 100 hectares of land for other projects like general hospitals, guest house, mini-stadium and housing scheme.
A joint government project committee comprising commissioners, special advisers, chairmen of transition committee, members of the State Assembly and senior special assistants in each LGA was constituted while the Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Benjamin Uwajimogu is to chair the Rural Road Inspection Committee.
The communiqué also highlighted the establishment of a fourth-tier of government in Imo State known as Community Government Council (CGC) which will be headed by the traditional rulers while the president-generals, community speakers, woman and youth leaders will serve as members.
It further stated that election into the community government council will hold on April 2012, while the state Attorney-General works out the logistics for the polls.
The Community Government Councils are however directed to take over the management of health centres while those that don’t have are directed to apply to the Commissioner for Health.
Under the arrangement, all qualified communities will be entitled to monthly subventions as those that don’t qualify may be merged for administrative convenience.
While former development area headquarters are to be used as Community Government Council headquarters for those communities where they are located, other public buildings will be converted for same purpose where they are located.

All the 27 LGA chairmen in Imo State are losers. They are all APGA members who lost a bid to Imo State House of Assembly in the last election and were appointed TC (Transition Committee) by Okorocha. It is absolutely laughable the con men in the Imo State government are talking about building 7 miles (15 KM) road in each of the LGA and blowing horn about.

This is the same government that talked about privatizing the ministries and parastatals Imo State yet seemed to advocate for the so-called fourth-tier of government in the state. The government of Imo State lacked every form of due process. I am not surprises that turncoat such as Speaker, Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Benjamin Uwajimogu is to chair the Rural Road Inspection Committee. What stops these ninnies from creating Rural Gutter Inspection Committee? What of Rural Market Inspection Committee. This Okorocha’s government could be the worst government ever in the history of Imo State. I do not wish for such thing to take place in Imo State.

This is a jackass who switched party from PDP to APGA the moment Okorocha was elected governor. I still wonder why his constituency has not recalled his arse. Of course, he will share from the loot of Imo State but he should bear in mind that humans do not live forever.

@OP

You seem to catch the drift what is at stake here. Since after Nigeria/Baifra civil war, Nigerian citizenry has been divided into unaccountable group of people. There are those of them who wrongly or rightly assumed they were born to rule Nigeria. In addition, there are people who believed that being a helper to those who assumed the illusionary vision of born to rule are now in the driver’s seat to steer the economy of Nigeria and terrified by the relentless zeal of Igbo man to top the chart in economic activities. Also, there are much maligned groups of people who thought Igbo man is a danger to their survival in Nigeria and willing to remain saboteurs and backstabbers even when their home land could be used as compensation.

It is not a mere coincidence there is not natural deep water seaport in eastern region of Nigeria and no international airport in the same rank with MMA or NAA in Lagos and Abuja respectively. Nigeria and its leadership would rather have Nigeria disintegrated than allow Igbo man major points of contact with outside world located deep inside Igbo land or at the backside of Igbo land. It is an unqualified insult to international airports around the world to refer to Port Harcourt airstrip as international airport. Unfortunately, Port Harcourt seaport is not a natural deep water seaport and government of Nigeria will not dredge it. Since there were numerous economic activities taking shape in eastern region of Nigeria, I had assumed that Opobo would have attracted attention for erection of natural deep water seaport project.

The talk about natural deep water seaport connected with Akwa Ibom State has been on and off. The culprits in these entire economic and political sagas are sons and daughters of eastern region of Nigeria who had stepped on the corridor of power in Nigeria and went to sleep with nonsensical and unpatriotic song of one and united Nigeria.

There is absolutely nothing about One-Nigeria and the unity people yarn about is akin to wild goose chase.

Dede1,

Let me clear up that post. We were discussing the feud between Akintola and Awolowo and I didn't se the need to provide a detailed breakdown of that incident. But since you quoted me, I have no option to but to clear that up. BTW, I don't remember any discussion or debate where I stated I was Yoruba or Yoruba. tongue

The Western house had 80 seats in total and any party with a 41 majority would have formed the government.

There were three elections for the 80 seats:
Western region elections on 24th September 1951 – 72 seats
Lagos elections on the 20th November 1951 – 5 seats (all won by NCNC)
Benin elections on the 6th of December 1951 – 3 seats (all won by Etu Edo)

Breakdown of 72 seats
AG won 38 seats including 3 won by its secretaries (Adegbenro, Hassan, and Osuntokun) who contested as independents.
Mabolaje Grand Alliance MBA (aka Ibadan Peoples Party) won 6 seats – Akinloye, Lanlehin, Akinbiyi, Akinyemi, Adelabu, and Aboderin
NCNC won 18 seats plus 7 Independent seats making 25
Ondo Improvement League won 2 seats
Adeola Odutola – Independent candidate representing Ijebu-Ode

At the end of the night on the 24th of September, 5 of the 6 MGA had declared for the AG while Adelabu declared for NCNC. Awosika of the Ondo improvement league and Adeola Odutola had both declared for the AG giving the AG 45 seats.

See official results below

http://books.google.ca/books?id=Oi0aVR4YkmUC&pg=PA35&lpg=PA35&dq=1956+election+NCNC&source=bl&ots=xlo8I8O_iF&sig=jmQDabaMysM0SG7MMZI3yFZ49dg&hl=en&ei=004zTvWKL4OnsALHmdTtCg&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=2&ved=0CB0Q6AEwAQ#v=onepage&q=1956%20election%20NCNC&f=false

Of the three seats in Benin won by Etu Edo, Ighodaro declared for AG while Omo-Osagie and Ekuyasi declared for NCNC.

At the end of December 1951, seats were as follows
AG – 46
NCNC/Independents 34

The Western house was inaugurated on the 7th of January 1952 and elections to the Federal House were held on the 10th of January 1952. Three members of the NCNC crossed over to the AG and these were Kessington-Momoh, Ako, and Awodi Orisaremi (all representing Urhobo/Kukuruku division in the Mid-west). None of them was Yoruba and that clearly defeats the lame and ridiculous lies that the AG, and by extension Awolowo, introduced tribal politics in Nigeria. These three crossed over because they needed AG votes to get into the Federal House. Ako and Kessington-Momoh were elected but Orisaremi lost and returned to the NCNC. These three crossed when the AG had a clear majority and had to pay fees to join the AG.

The real reason Zik resigned was because he lost that election to the Federal House. NCNC had five seats from the West and Zik couldn’t gain any of these seats losing to other NCNC members such as Fadahunsi, Olorunnimbe, Oputa-Otutu, Denis Osadebey, and Adeleke Adedoyin.

Dede1
It is time you provide facts and stop inundating the forum with fairy tales started by Zik, Mbu, and Mbadiwe. The results on the night of the election are still in the Nigerian National archives; only a lazy scholar would continue to regurgitate lies perpetuated by those who had to lie to save face from being beaten soundly. T8ksy has been asking you to produce the 'results' which gave NCNC the required majority to lead the Western House for months, yet no answer from you. Why am I not surprised?
The products of hack writers are in such a high demand today because of individuals such as you. Contrary to the copy and paste junk you stood up, there were no independent candidates during the era in discuss. There were major political parties with nation-wide spread and local parties with city-wide spread. Before the electioneering campaigns, the local parties were allowed to contest unless under alliance with and run on the platform of major politcal parties.

Local parties such as Otu Edo, IPP, Leagues, Farmers Union, Omo Parapos etc contested election under the platform of major political parties with agreement to form a ruling government.

However, this arrangement did not take into consideration the act of carpet-crossing and injection of tribal politics after the election. For example, Chief S O. Ighodaro was offered either the position of regional ministers or speaker to cross over to AG. It must recall that Edo people swore that Chief Ighodaro shall never win any electable office in Edo till today.
Sam,

Let me first say that I was shocked to see the response I referenced.  You are always calm asnd guided in your interaction.  For that, yes, I commend you and I would give a wide latitude to hear your views than I would most others.  You are not an Ibo. . . . you, my friend are an Ndigbo!  You should have been the one enthroned as Eze N'dIgbo of N'Land. . . . not that rascal called Onlytruth.   You are balanced and seek ways to repair and bring people together even in the middle of a bad bashing and attack on your people.  You are Igbo but you have the spirit of a Yoruba son. . . .iwa pele (you are humble) and omo lua bi (you are upright).  So it shocked me to see that from you, but you are human and there is limit to what the individual can take in insults.

Once upon a time, Igbo shared mutual respect with Yorubas.  In fact Yoruba elites in Lagos embraced Igbos as brothers back in the days.  We cannot say the same today.  What has changed?

Once upon a time here on NL, we discussed political issues with fairness and balance. . . . Yorubas and Igbos expressed unibiased views regardless who the subject of discussion was.  It is no longer that way.  So what has changed?

No one tribe in Nigeria is a saint. . . we are all guilty to certain degree of asserting our regional interests above and over the patriotic interest of the country. This is good competition and rivalry.  What is bad and distasteful is when one tribe charge falsehood and insults at another tribe.  Of all the tribes that converge here in NL, Igbo tribe is guilty of this.  Others were forced out of their shell and compelled to ward off the insults after several unheeded warnings.  I am proud of my Yoruba heritage and I can say it loud and clear. . . . but it is not good for me to start demonizing Igbo or Hausa to legitimize my pride in Oodua.  If I cant find anything worthy to show my pride in then Im better off not insulting others at all.

Your brothers need to check themselves if Igbo bashing muist stop here in NL.  It is unfortunate that it rubs off on good people like yourself.  Particularly in this turbulent times when you are evacuating yoru people from North. . . . it is best not to antagonize and cause an eruption in West that forces another regional evacuation of your people.

I agree Nigeria needs to be dissolved. . . I am a strong advocate for that.  Oodua nourisghes my spirit and body far better than Nigeria can ever hope to do.

Online enmity can translate into street enmity. . . all it needs is a trigger.  None of us know what or how, or even who might activate the trigger.

I opened this thread as a response to ones opened by your brothers questioning North and West's contribution.  Never understimate capabilities on the other side.
Negro_nuts, who gives a ratarse what a goon such as you thinks about Ndigbo?

This is a typical Yoruba demeanor and I must warn any Igbo son or daughter not to pay any slightest mind to this crap. Few omo oyoparapo in Lagos welcomed Ndigbo with open mind. However, I must say such gesture ended where it started. It is beyond my wildest of imagination that one should insinuate mutual full sailing over the rough seas after John had deliberately stabbed Peter on the back while Peter was in a survival hand-to-hand combat with James.

Despite the fact Zik was insidiously chased out of western region after 1951 election, he still appointed a Yoruba son as the Press Secretary to eastern regional government in 1954.

One wonders what happened when these loudmouths had the opportunity to reciprocate, they reciprocated in Yoruba fashion.

I don't get it. The battle line is between the Hausa-Fulani/Yoruba against Ndigbo. The ss hang fearfully on the fence unsure of itself. Wetin be the real problem? Jealousy? This was the picture during Biafra. The Middle belt, I guess may not be willing to continue a gruesome marriage with the core north to massacre Ndigbo. Sensing this posture, BH will soon turn loose on them. Does mere boastfulness of self acclaimed success justify wanton killing of persons? I suppose Igbo pride made the colonial powers to subjugate the Igbo nation; it cost us Biafra because the white folks could not tolerate our self confidence and pride. Every Igbo related post in nl points to Igbo boastfulness and arrogance.

Some posts are mere manifestation of stupidity and ignorance. It is either we are a country or we are not! Everyone is free to live (legally) in every part of the globe. Why can't Nigerian live and work freely in any part of the country? What does the constitution say? Some communities are burying their dead, not out of natural disaster, but hacked down by fellow Nigerians who adduce unclear motives. This is food for thought for every enlightened mind irrespective of tribe.

I guess you are enjoying the many pages your post has generated. Don't beat your chest yet in self congratulation. Nigeria's woes are hydra headed. Looking through a crystal ball into the future of the country is worrisome indeed. I fear our dear country. History has an ugly way of repeating itself if issues of previous events are not addressed. When we tell lies to masquerade reality, we make ourselves principal actors in a tragic drama sketch.
It was not act of loudmouth or boastfulness that Europeans decide to subjugate Ndigbo. It was through sheer hard work and unflinching determination of Ndigbo to survive in any environment they found them selves.

These characteristics have also engendered the type of envy, jealousy and hatred exhibited by other ethnicities towards Ndigbo in Nigeria.

You wrote “Everyone is free to live (legally) in every part of the globe. Why can't Nigerian live and work freely in any part of the country? What does the constitution say? Have Ndigbo in any shape or form acted to inhibit any Nigerian from living freely or participated in the act of wanton destruction of lives and properties that belonged to other Nigerians unprovoked or involved in the seizure of properties that belonged to non-Igbo or contravened the dictates of the so-called Nigerian constitution?

Rather, they have been accused of too aggressiveness, arrogance, even close knitted in business, fearless, greedy, or lack of real estate to accommodate Igbo forced them to move to other parts of Nigeria and attempt to take over other peoples’ land.

In fact, if these deluded and loudmouthed jackasses could still summon the courage needed to support the group agitating for actualization of Biafra, there should be no headache accrued in contemplating the contribution of SE to the junk called Nigeria.

I should not want the SE to contribute anything economically or otherwise towards the growth of the cesspit called Nigeria. SE should manage to remain afloat on the rudderless vessel named Nigeria while bidding its time to jump off ship.

igbo pple across the ss/se region went about their normal business today, i think that says it all concerning Biafra, 70% of what we still hear about biafra is all electronic media propaganda from less than 2% of e-restless igbo youths. U need to see the way ur own people were going abt their business b4 u start any lame attack on innocent NLders.
In my humble estimate, 90% + of igbo did not care about that O's burial today.
You are a bloody ninny. I can tell you that 99% of Ndigbo went about their normal business today. Anybody who thinks this scenario is an indicative of quest for Biafra or lack thereof by Ndigbo is a born again fo.ol. The post shows your lamed stream of thought which I may say has nothing against a first grader.

Any Igbo who does not know a foe from friends during or after Nigeria/Biafra civil war should jump off cliff. The so-called SS is not exclusively domain of non-Igbo and anybody who is not of Igbo ancestry and frowns at Uwazuruike’s comment is a bloody jackass. Baring some misguided and ill-informed loudmouths found among Ibibio, Annang or Ijo (Okirika/Kalabari), Ndigbo must have placed bull’s-eye on their enemies in the so-called South-south.

My quest for disintegrated Nigeria is not unfounded but rooted in what transpired during and after the Nigeria/Biafra civil war. If there should be any spiral of arms in Nigeria, as I post, I shall refuse any deployment towards northern drive. My fight shall be pitched within the southern drive units.

It wasnt! the worst mistake Nzeogwu made was working with psychos like Ifeajuna and Onwuatuegwu. The young man wanted a REVOLUTION but some of his partners wanted something else,POWER!

If it was a planned Igbo coup, how come an Igbo officer foiled it? and how come Colonel Unegbe was shot point blank when he refused to give up the keys to the arsenal? ANSWERS PLEASE!
Shut up your putrid mouth and consult well-informed history books. What did Nzeogwu do differently from what Ifeajuna and Onwuatuegwu did which made them psychos and Nzeogwu sane?

You are truly an "agbaya"! Always spewing gabbage which of course, when asked to substantiate , you can't. instead you

start ducking and diving like your dead ex-warlord. Caginess must have been hard-wired into your DNA.

Am still waiting (patiently) for your proof of the election result won by Zik in yorubaland , in 1951 o!
I guess adherence to incurable stupidity and the instance of inherent loudmouth spur you to obfuscate on issues.

Even Daokuta, your soul mate, seemed to caught up with the essence of intelligent flow.

Quit waiting for proofs because you do not deserve one, olodo.

Logic Mind is very logical on this topic. Africans in general and Nigerians in particular would want to eat their cake and have it. If you seemed twisted out of human form because of tribalism associated with Nairaland hence Nigeria, please support the plea for disintegration of the cesspit called Nigeria into ethnic-based nation states.

Pretence is a dirty bit.ch. I really want escalation of hostility that is rooted in ethnic differences in Nigeria with hope such disorder could lead to disintegration of Nigeria

the bolded also exist in ibo, in fact it is more common in iboland than any other place.
Please attest to what you know for fact. The death of Oba in Yoruba land is not a matter for liver-hearted humans. I am an insider who knew the corners.
