chidexy:I am not saying privatization of water resources is ill-informed project. However, I have no doubt such a thing is near to humanly impossible to achieve in Nigeria talk less Imo State. Sometimes high prices of certain commodities or amenities are not final decider on the need to have such things but their readily availability. PHCN should have being distance memories if electricity could be privately provided and less cumbersome to get like borehole. |
kulutempa:It is funny you injected the issue of “pure water” into this debate. Actually, Mama Bomboy Water Works Limited is rooted in borehole sunk by Mama Bomboy. Even non-regulated pure water products could come from the stream or river. ![]() |
@ Dede1 The truth is that this thing of everyone owning a borehole would soon start to have great negative effect when our ground water becomes depleted or contaminated as a result of excessive drawdown. Thats when we would see the importance of a functioning Water company/coporation. So let them privatise the darn thing and start putting in place the ground work necessary for their take-off. Another move I envisage is that the government would introduce a compulsory tax on those who own private wells in their homes. Lets watch and see. Even if the water company can provide water to farmers for irrigation, then its still not a bad Idea. Overall, the idea is laudable IF, and only IF there isnt any hidden scam/agenda attached to it.
I understand your concern about the depletion of ground water. Actually your concern is not totally misguided. The shortage of resources of ground water should not appear because of the number of boreholes sunk but usage of water. The idea of Water Corporation being privatized would not reduce volume of water usage by the people rather it will increase the price of water to a point the large cross section of the society can not be able to afford a gallon of water. |
ceejayluv:I have a house in Works layout built in late 80s when borehole was not in vogue and had depended on the water corporation. Yet we did not use the water for drinking purposes and it hardly run when needed. Sometimes kids had to wake up in the midnight to fill the barrels with water. However, I have a new structure somewhere in Owerri with a borehole. Even the water is not used for drinking purposes, it is regularly available. Even when there is no electricity, generator kicks off. I have experienced life under the so-called Imo State Water Corporation and life under the provision of private borehole, it is not gainsaying that I am not ready to give up on the private bole soon. I am planning to do away with PHCN by getting solar panel in conjunction with generator. My neighborhood is planning to build road from the estate to the major road and very soon, we shall get rid of Imo State government. ![]() |
I do not know anybody who heads the department of any corporation willing to buy Imo State Water Corporation. If any, the person’s head needs to be examined by the psychiatrist because other than the waste land along Okigwe Road which houses the so-called water corps, there is no sign of profit in such endeavor. All the hotels and new buildings in and around Owerri have private borehole. There will be a huge expense accrued in attempt to lay pipe lines in Owerri municipality especially when would-be customers have boreholes already. I visited the new Owerri area yet there was no network of pipes laid down by government or any other entity for carriage of drinking water. All the structures within the new Owerri city sunk a borehole. If government can not provide water, electricity, security and good roads to the citizenry, why do the people need the government? Who are the government of Imo State kidding? |
This one of the reasons Rochas Okorocha is slimy dupe. There is no functional Water Corporation in Imo State. Every new estate in Owerri in particular and Imo State in general has its borehole. The existing buildings in Owerri do not have running water. What the hell Okorocha’s government is talking about Water Corporation and privatization. A person does not privatize what he or she does not have. Even electricity is provided by any family that can afford generators. A family without generator can be in darkness or without electricity for weeks. I traveled to Owerri lately and the urge to eliminate certain people in power or whosoever that ruled or ruling Nigeria kept propping up in mind. |
SapeleGuy: You will find it hard to find nations with more than 10 or 20 ethnicities that are co-existing peacefully. Even the UK with just 4, despite the similarities between England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland realise that devolution is they way forward.Let me once more unequivocally state Republic of Igbo land is the very first option of Ndigbo in expected disintegration of Nigeria. I am baffled some ninnies are still hampering on representation of 250 or more ethnicities in Nigeria in case of disintegration. I honestly do not give slightest hoot if Nigeria should degenerate into 250 countries or more. It is a silly copout for certain deluded individuals from the cesspit called Nigeria to continue the argument of representation of 250 ethnic groups or lack thereof in Nigeria when debate of disintegration comes up. Ndigbo have never and will never stop any ethnic group from achieving sovereign status if such group has all it takes to sustain such huge endeavor. I am fully in support of Republic of Igbo land. |
Lasinoh:What a lying scumbag. You do not "do Nigerians" but would not let any Igbo di.ck rest. So lusted for Igbo di.ck, you got one on rental bases and still would want us to believe he is your husband. Shameless liar!!! ![]() |
I wont dare argue with you and your revised version of the revised version historial books. Those places you mentioned are parts of Nigeria before the declaration of Biafra. It is not unexpected to find pockets Nigerian troops in those areas pending on final withdrawals. Stop dipping your hands into or trying alter what has been established as facts long long long time ago.
It will amount to waste of my precious time to engage a numbskull in a debate pertaining to Nigeria/Biafra civil war. I should not be more than convinced by your post that loudmouths will say or write any rubbish to draw attention. There was not even a military cantonment in the areas I mentioned prior to the commencement of the so-called “Police-Action” on Biafra by Nigeria I guess in your delusional stream of thought, Ore was part of Republic of Dahomey and there were no pockets of Nigerian troops in the city before whatever you termed as final withdrawal. Even the capture of Bonny in easterner region by combined infantries and sailors drawn from northern, western and mid-western regions under the command of a Yoruba could have meant a mere picnic to you. Since Nigeria, with its forces made of soldiers from northern, western and mid-western regions, unleashed unprovoked attack on Biafra, the later had every pedigree to launch pre-emptive attacks on any territory that was part of Nigerian baring eastern region. |
Pick up any history and read then come back and tell me what are Biafrans soldiers doing in Ore, heading to Lagos. Seperation MUST be discussed by ALL active partners and not by unilateral aggressively invasion of other regions. Every active partner must know what is inn for him, else you are declaring war.
It does not appear you have being in the same room with a history book. You would have first extended the silly question to Nigeria under Gowon what the hell Nigerian army was doing in Gakem, Enugu-Ezike and Obolo Eke in eastern region before issue of Ore. |
@POST It is still funny to read the unrepentant attitude employed by some people when writing about Nigeria, imminent disintegration, Aburi accord and the debacle of 1967. Let me state categorically that it would be nicer if Nigerians should call a spade a spade. Biafra was wrongly treated by the southern Nigerians and their counterparts from the so-called Middle belt in 1967. It was this let down of Biafra by deluded and majority of southern Nigerians as well as peeps from Middle-belt that created the wrong notion of “Born to Rule” or the referenced “Master/Servant” scenario in Nigeria. As far as I am concerned, the water has already gone under the bridge. Since 1967, Nigeria has not being the same and will never be. I shall plead with Fani-Kayode to snap out of the day dreams about southern Nigeria and Middle-belt configuration into a country. The idea of one country that will consist southern Nigeria and Middle Belt shall never happen however it is clearly, without doubt, Nigeria shall cease to exist in future. I do not give a slightest hoot if Nigeria disintegrates into 250 nations as long there is Republic of Igbo land or Biafra that consists Igbo land and negotiated co-existence of Ibibio, Annang, Ogoni, Ijo (Okirika/Kalabari) and Idoma (Benue State). |
Until this thread, I did not know mere hatred can change the social status of individuals or group of people. Slaves can hate their masters but such human endeavor does not change the social status of either group. |
You guys should free this boy abeg. He was only making an observation. He mentioned one obvious point which is "IGBOs are being treated as if they are second class citizens". He did NOT say that they are second-class citizens, but he merely asked why the other tribes, who ought to be friendly are unreasonably hostile to the Igbo tribe. Quite frankly, I share his sentiments. Even here on NL, there's rarely a day that passes without seeing verbal insults been thrown at (and from) Igbos. I'm an Igbo person myself and I perfectly understand his views (he's NOT insulting the Igbo tribe) .NET
Please could you give examples or instances where Ndigbo are treated as second class citizen? |
T9ksy:Quote from: dayokanu How can Adedibu a member of the AG be a lieutenant of Akintola in the NNDP? Is this part of the demonise Akintola propaganda? While Akintola was alive, Adedibu was never a member of NNDP. Rotimi Williams was barred from court for what reason? definitely there is a legal explanation for it. If Rotimi Williams was barred he as a lawyer should seek redress in court instead of the AG instigating their Adedibu supporters to "wetie" I am from Oyo State. And point to any of my statements that biased. Balewa appointed Akintola? I thought he was made premier by the AG and when he had problems within the party sought redress from the court and won So was balewa the leader of the AG who made him Premier or Balewa was the Judge who gave a decision in his favour. A.G thugs carried out what can be termed as the will of the upper echelon. Akintola never encouraged any of such. In the cross carpetting issue, why didnt the Akintola led A.G tell people to go wettie of NCNC members? Rather they sought a constitutional way of getting the upper hand instead of Arson that the party resorted to after Akintola left it. Quote from: Katsumoto The cross-carpeting issue happened in 1951, well before Akintola was Premier. Besides, Akintola was never leader of the AG. Its obvious that you are not too conversant with the events of that era. After Akintola was sacked by Sir Aderemi and Adegbenro appointed, Akintola called Balewa. A state of emergency was declared, Adegbenro was sacked as premier and Aderemi was sacked as governor and Dr Majekodunmi was appointed as administrator. Awo was then sent to prison on trumped up charges. Akintola subsequently won the case in court. Please stop being naive about this issue. The NPC controlled govt did everything possible to hold onto power. The cencus in 62 was so flawed that it was cancelled. The election in 1965 was equally rigged in Akintola's favour. Please read above posts by Yoruba peeps. I guess they knew few things about carpet-crossing that happened on the floor of western regional house of assembly in 1951. |
corkpikin:There is no doubt you are a beneficiary of free education, quota system, obscured religious doctrine and son of a cocotte. |
eGuerrilla:There is no need to obfuscate on the issue of Palestine. I hope you are not as lazy as you have indicated with the above post. I left the date of 1917 in my post for a purpose. You definitely understood that 1917 preceded 1945. |
Kobojunkie:I had known that a junk of woman such as you would not disappoint. |
T9ksy:Shut up!!!! What do you know about the deal between Ojukwu and Banjo that prompted you to label it bonehead? |
As I read the posts engendered by the debate bordering on the personalities of Awolowo and Akintola, ominous script kept occupying my sense of reason that Yoruba people are very treacherous. I know most of the historical facts that joined the two inherently treacherous Awolowo and Akintola together. Both characters, without iota of doubt, were tribal champions. They indulged in treachery and bigotry expose that could have consumed their lives but one was lucky to escape the drag net and lived to play another day. |
Deokuta is an irresponsible dingbat. I am happy to read from the forum at the instance where even seannet02 was teaching dumbass a lesson on Akintola's defeats. Deokuta, the junkyard dog, had the effrontery to publicize Tribune and Daily Sketch front page creation of Aare Ona kakanfos such as Akintola on this forum. I guess Deokuta is a drooling dunce and believes everyone that navigates to this forum is in the same class with him and ikebe of Ekiti. In my book, the real Aare Ona kanafos were Basorun of Ibadan and Kumrunmi of Ijaye. Afonja of Ilorin should also be mentioned except for his bonehead deal with Alimi. |
eGuerrilla:You are type of individuals who kept Africa in darkness. It is pure ignorant to insinuate European Jews are all about Israel. There were Palestinian Jews as well Palestinian Arabs in what used to be Palestine. I remember when the same Arabs who now called themselves Palestinians frown at such instance. For your information, Jordan was an integral part of Palestine in 1917. |
dayokanu:I guess only idiotic numbskulls from Ogbomosho approach battle fields wearing heavily starched military uniform. No wonder Sokoto Caliphate made Ogbomosho a supply depot. I guess you understand what I meant by supply depot for Ogbomosho. ![]() |
PointB:Does the moronic nincompoop called kingoflag understand what education is all about? |
dayokanu:It is this type of idiotic photo-ops displays that led to Adekunle’s redeployment to Apapa Wharf. Have you ever seen an officer or a senior NCO who leads troops to war front or commands mortar unit that wears heavy- starched uniform? If I did not know better than this crap, I would have given it a benefit of doubt. |
lagcity:It is unfortunate that some Yoruba peeps would choose to tell lies all the way to their graves instead of embracing unclad truth. Did you think it was mere uninvited coincidence that Yoruba are almost 50-50 Christian/Muslim? Even few Yoruba Aare Ona Kakanfos quickly and cowardly converted to Islam. ![]() |
dayokanu:You are a useless junkyard dog. Loudmouthed and inconsequential drunk such as Adekunle was hidden safely in Port Harcourt while the field commanders such Majors Etuks, Makanjuola, Innih, Oni and Ted Hammand have their arse thoroughly kicked in Owerri/Oguta/Egbema sector. The junk soldier named Adekunle was busy mouthing off and attending to photo-ops. The moment the naval support from NNS Lokoja and Nigeria diminished, incompetence in Adekunle shone like a star. |
lagcity:At least, you seemed to have few organized social orders above your shoulders. Unlike the dingbat called Deokuta. However, Yoruba peeps will never disappoint when denial is the subject matter. You can call negotiated withdrawal a defeat all you want but if the Obas did not agree to convert to Islam and equally allow their subjects to do so, the jackasses would have seen the dark side of Sokoto Caliphate. ![]() |
dayokanu:Deokuta, I guess when you have been successfully driven into your holding cage, monkey. |
dayokanu:DeOkuta, you are a troll Benjamin Adekunle never was and never shall be a respectable or tactical battle field commander. At the beginning of 1969, brigades under 3MCDO were reduced into fleeing stragglers by gallant boys from Biafra. After the debacle at Owerri/Oguta/Egbema, Adekunle was redeployed as wharf traffic officer at Apapa Wharf. You must be a redundant dullard to call anybody coward when such trait runs riot in your stinking blood. You and your peeps are cowered you can not muster intestinal fortitude to lead innocuous coup in Nigeria. I swear Igbo ladies in uniform will thoroughly kick your dirty arse if should be showdown exclusively between Yoruba and Igbo. |
Otu nne:Same too, bros. |
dayokanu:It takes one moronic numbskull to recognize another. I am not surprise that a son of loudmouth such as you still have effrontery to enjoy jokes about war. Ogbomosho was once turned into a supply-ground for women of free-fortune by Sokoto Caliphate. No wonder the Soun of Ogbomosho was killed during the Agbakoya’s revolt against Gowon’s stay in Yoruba land in 1967, olodo Oloshi. |
