i expect nairalanders to be more vociferous in their criticsm of this apparently corrupt policy of lagos state government under fashola's watch. if it were a PDP Governor, we would have seen upto 7 pages of inventives and abuses. lets be objective.

nigeria will be a very nice place if we have people who will always say the truth, the problem is that nigerians are very malleable, the press are very biased, how can somebody argue with this my sincere brother?obasanjo remains and will be the best nigerian president in yrs to come.the truth could be bitter at times but it does stop us from saying it.

Guus hiddink lost only a match. Arsene wenger said he was going to overtake chelsea but ended up 11 points below. it took a uefa rigging to stop chelsea from a back to back appearance in cl finals. Pep Guardiola confessed that a tie with chelsea is more tasking after the humiliation of fergie 's man u. Now, they felt that the everton side which bade goodbye to man u will stop chelsea. chelsea is simply unstoppable.

Abj is both 4 d common man and d rich. its all about planning. food crops like yam, potato, onions, tomato abound @ relatively cheap prices. transportation is cheap and luxurious. its only in Abj that one can pick a drop for as low as 150naira(equivalent of bike fare to some places in lagos). the average fare for a drop in lagos is 1,500naira.Therefore, in Abj drop is accessible to everybody but not so in lagos. HOUSING- In Abj, everywhere is highbrow hence u get good value for your rent. but in lagos, people pay heavily to live in delapidated buildings and collapse prone houses. SECURITY- The common man in abj could wake up by 2.30am and go about his lawful business. In lagos, he does so at his own peril.

@ mahabone
''eko atlantic will wrestle the title from abuja'' wishful thinking! even FASHOLA knows its not possible for lagos to catch up with abj. he just wants to restore a little sanity. where do you start? first, you must ask d whole residents to evacuate for a year.then you embark on massive demolition of all houses in lagos starting from OJOTA. while demolition is ongoing, roads will be expanded and reconstructed with pedestrian walkways and underground drainage. flowers and green trees will also be planted  simulteanuosly.many lands will be revoked and converted to parks and gardens. Ajegunle, obalende, oworoshoki, okokmaiko and other slums will be turned to green areas. estates will now be redesigned and all new allottees required to have very low fences and a horticultural touch in front of the houses. mad men , beggars, touts , area boys , bike men will be banned. half of the population will have to go. Even bank phb will agree that all these are impossible to be done. ABJ is it.

lets go scientific and factual. mr. x  lives in ogba and he wakes up by 4am to go to work at highbrow VI. he spends 3hrs in a rickety bus  due to traffic and gets to d office by 8am. work ends by 4 but mr . x can only get back home at 10pm.he decides to hang out @ allen avenue. its 11.30 pm and mr x doesn"t have a car. imagine it.
mr. y lives in gwarinmpa(the biggest estate in west Africa) and works in maitama(choicest place in NIGERIA) .he wakes up by 7.30am and takes a drop @ 300naira.he gets to the office b4 8am.At the close of work by 4pm, he retires to his house b4 4.30pm. he has some sleep and decides to hang out by 7pm. unlike a lagosian,  mr. y has d option of cooling off first in any of the luxurious gardens or parks close to his residence. Thereafter he can proceed  to d red  light district @ area11. By 12 midnight, mr y can just stroll out of red light district and take a drop of 250 naira to any of d numerous nite clubs in Wuse 2, Maitama,or Asokoro. No touts, no area boys and no opc. its all street lights, green trees and flowers. Abj doesnt go to bed. its like LAS VEGAS @ night. little wonder everyone is now running to ABJ to stage big events. talk of d MTV MAMA awards, thisday awards, hip hop awards, and now MTV Nigeria sings. ABJ is it.

abj is d bomb anyday. the most beautiful city in west Africa. grooving goes on 24/7 under street lights and tight security. there are no touts,no area boys, no opc, no traffic, no noise. There are so many nite clubs, gardens, parks, malls and cinemas where one can catch fun. Abj is fast becoming the entertainment destination as every organisation lincluding mtv, thisday, hip hop awards prefer to use abj. above all, that is where the money at.

A picture of lagos is not far fetched. some old high rise buildings sandwiched by big slums and dirty lagoons. A sea of human heads hopping in and out of yellow pieces of iron mongery seeking to riggle out of an unending traffic snarl. worn out bridges and tiny roads that cannot afford the luxury of flowers and pedestrian walkways. A city where town planning is on vacation hence a residential premises could play host to a barbing saloon, a supermarket, a pepper soup joint and a church. Densely populated neighbourhoods without proper drainage and waste management systems. streets that are littered with beggars, touts and area boys that make both day and nightlife in lagos a risky adventure. A city where the noise level is pegged at the highest decibel owing to the chaotic mix of juju music from the stereos of roadside traders and bus conductors ever chanting the name of bus stops in vernacular. A city where its inhabitants have come to grapple with the harsh reality of leaving home by 4am inorder to make ends meet. Indeed, the picture of lagos is that of an urban jungle. ABJ 4 LIFE.

if govt does not award contracts for the construction of those roads, we will be the first to shout that Yar'Adua is insensitive to the plight of Abuja residents who suffer what is fast becoming the worst traffic situation on kubwa road. we will also use this forum to laugh and make comparative analysis of the road to heathrow airport in london and that of Abuja airport. Nigeria will be a better place if we learn not to be hypoctical in our approach to national issues.
PoliticsRe: Lets Us Congratulate The First 6year Term Governor Of Ekiti by dedeike: 10:19am On May 06, 2009
it would have been the tyranny of the minority, if Adebayo succumbed to the pressure by AC in Ekiti state to have the IDO osi results cancelled. what is good for boniface, is also good for bonileg. if Fayemi was allowed to return over 85% of votes from his area, i dont see any reason why we should begrudge  ONI for returning 39% from his Ido Osi home base.I have always said it that AC is a newspaper tiger. After all the noise, PDP still won the OYE EKITI re run which was held under tight security and  supervision of the press. NIGERIA will be a better place if we learn not to be bad loosers.
PoliticsEkiti: Inec Validates Ido Osi Results,Ac Threatens Boycoth Of Oye Poll by dedeike(op): 8:00am On May 04, 2009
After nine days of stalement, Inec has validated the controversial results from Ido Osi Lga and has fixed the pending re run in two wards in Oye  Ekiti Lga for Tuesday, May 5. The Ido Osi results gives Segun Oni of the PDP an overall 4,000 lead (inclusive of the 11,000 votes credited to the AC by the court of Appeal). The AC had opposed the validation of the Ido osi result on the grounds that 8 wards were not collated at the designated collation center. It will be recalled that the INEC office in ido osi was torched on election day. The AC has threatened to boycoth the re run poll in OYE if the results in Ido Osi remains validated.
PoliticsRe: Ekiti: INEC Commisioner Resigns; Okiro Declares Her Wanted by dedeike: 1:22pm On Apr 30, 2009
Nothing else further showcases the hypocrisy of opposition politicians in NIGERIA than the current drama in Ekiti. All cases of thuggery and violence are attributed to the PDP. The AC is innocent even with fayose as an ally. Jide Awe, AC Chieftain in EKITI, had no problems with the exercise  until he found out that his party had lost IDO OSI and the remaining 3 Lga's. if no body cried foul when FAYEMI returned 87% of registered voters in his Lga, why the brouhaha over the 15,000 votes(39% of registered voters in ido osi) scored by PDP in IDO OSI,which is Ex-Governor Oni's LGA. why would people think that Senator AYO ARISHE, a serving senator who contested AC guber ticket with FAYEMI, is so unpopular that he cannot win his own ward(oye 1 and 2). is it not becoming clearer by the day that some people, who know they cannot win, are sponsoring the violence in oye. Increasingly, those who called for the deployment of soldiersi norder to guarantee a peaceful election are being vindicated. Nigeria will be a better place, if we view things objectively whether PDP or not.
PoliticsRe: Ekiti: INEC Commisioner Resigns; Okiro Declares Her Wanted by dedeike: 7:05pm On Apr 29, 2009
lets leave DORA alone. she is right. if adebayo is not out to undermine the electoral process, why didn't she outrightly cancel the result of  the so called controversial wards and announce the perceived valid ones. she abandoned such a crucial exercise without any official statement and resurfaced 3 days later to tender a vague resignation letter.I'm still waiting to hear why Ido osi Lga (oni's homebase) that gave PDP a clear lead has not been announced. Nigeria will be a better place if we do justice to all, whether PDP or not.

what is the problem with we nigerians?this woman resigned yeeeeeeeeees.but we don't know the reason for her action, and we 've started accusing the pdp.please let us be fair to all concerned,so that this honourable forum will not be seen as acting anyone's script.please am concerned.
PoliticsRe: Ekiti: INEC Commisioner Resigns; Okiro Declares Her Wanted by dedeike: 3:56pm On Apr 29, 2009
The woman wants to play to the gallery. As the Rec, she has the power to announce or cancel the result of any ward which is tainted with fraud. the truth is that she has sympathy for AC and cannot adduce cogent reasons why results from Ido osi and other 3 Lga's that gives Oni a clear lead cannot be accepted. Nigeria will be a better place if we do justice to all, whether PDP OR  NOT.
