1. A little secret about Ivory Coast ,Benin ,Togo....they are all heavily subsidized by France.

2.Here is why we got rid of the old regions
a) Minority tribes were being run roughshod over by majority tribes. That is even a big part of the reason why your Biafra collapsed.
b) Even in regions where one tribe dominates...like Western region....everyone and his father could not agree completely.
c)Accountabbility? Corruption was just as bad under the old regional system. Go and read Nzeogwu's coup speech...especially the bit where he refers to ten-percenters.
d)Bad policemen? Under the old regional system we had the Native Authority Police...whose job most of the time was to opress citizens for 'taxes' . And crisis...they were just poor in controlling crisis. See the Tiv riots of 1964....where the Army had to take over from the regional police.
And the pogroms of 1966 were made easier by the fact that the Police was regionalised. There is a very good reason why we have a federal police.....
e)Religious riots a thing of the past? Sorry....but not going to happen. Same thing with FUlani herdsmen...they were roaming around the country long before there was even a Nigeria.Reason why you do not hear of clashes in the past was because the population was smaller then (1963 census: 55million Nigerians. 2006 : 120million Nigerians. And the land no dey get bigger).
f)Every region has common interest? In this era where even tiny tribes like my own are asking for state?

Nigeria's problem is not division. Nigeria's problem is that people want to share money. And they are ready to fight over it. Which in my mind is what is driving all this secession things...as well as the Boko haram, religious, etc crisis. We are a lazy people. We want to eat money. And if we don't get our money we will fight....together or apart.

I don't begrudge Igbos fighting for Biafra.....but I don't support it because the same bad Naija spirit will follow you into Biafra. In other words....it won't solve your problems. There. I have said it. Call me names...but I have said it. Sort that corrupt Naija heart issue out. And start by ending support for people who steal your money today....and then claim persecultion when they are caught. Same goes for other parts of obodo Nigeria.
Yeah the problem has always bee the leaers. They were all born and raised in congo, angola, and togo. This is why their character is alien to nigerians'. This is why since the country was created, we have always blamed them.

Let us break this country into manageable sizes.
Nigeria is just too big to manage as one country, look at Europe, some countries are not even up to 3 million in population and they are doing quite well.
Some people in this country has refused to evolve, they will always be a draw back for those striving to move forward so let's break this country up.
Excellent!

Even if we break up along geopolitical, ethnic, or religious lines, I assure you most solemnly, it won't change a thing because people won't change their behavior and corruption will still thrives. Besides, there will be other New challenges, issues and problems that will arise. The black race, Nigeria inclusive, is programmed in such a parochial way so as not to make meaningful progress because of our inbuilt retrogressive and backward thought processes.

The black race needs help and deliverance.
That is a lie! Corruption exist because of ethnic difference. We are not patriotic to the country but to our ethnicities. For a country to eliminate corruption, they must have patriotic citizens. The way yoruba people will fight corruption in nigeria will be totally different from that of an oodua country. Patriotism comes from within. It is something from the mind. When yoruba split, we wont bother to fight corruption again since no leader can be able to use ethnicity to perpetrate. The black man is not the problem, it is the system created by the whites that has left us underdeveloped. If japan, china, and south korea were as diverse like most african countries, they will be as poor as we are today.
Hope you get?

you are wrong.. igbos have been reduced to minority tribe in Nigeria.
Look around you and see for yourself. Igbos played their last card with GEJ, they lost SW friendship totally

They have lost it all. I feel sorry for them
You disappoint me with this nonsense talk about friendship with the igbos. Yoruba dont need them in anyway. We share nothing in common with them. So why will yoruba want to make friends with them? The igbo people encouraged the marginalization of yoruba people in the last adminstration, only for them to still accuse same yoruba of betraying them because they rejected goodluck jonathan. If they want biafra, they should be encouraged to get it. Let the country split. Yorubas need to country their boundary.

this the most dumb statement ever.how can you say they played their last card with GEJ when the future is still there. It is natural that Igbos cannot be in the centre all the time .in the future igbos will still come in and be in contol of a ruling party like before.Talking about yoruba, every tribe knows them to be selfish for their interest.the hausas know want they want from this govt. that is for Osibanjo to be president.

look around you igbos are everywhere and are a major tribe in nigeria, any noise they make shakes the nation even here on nairaland.igbos can never enter into any alliance with yorubas because we know them better.
And who need alliance with your ass in the first place? The op stated it clearly that you should blame your leaders for your woes instead of blaming yoruba. Stop shouting yoruba all over the place. Stay your lane!!! Simple!!!

The whole aviation ministry was crawling with Yorubas, with blatant disregard to the federal character principle, the only way Stella could correct the anomaly was sacking the Yorubas and handing them the normal quota they should have all things being equal.
Igbos were under represented in the ministry and Stella amended this by appointing qualified Igbos to fill the Normal Igbo quota, that she created by sacking excess Yorubas that took up those spaces.

Of course, it didn't seat well with Yorubas.

Their idea of a good Nigeria is the one where they get lion share to the detriment of others, denying them this lion share is interpreted as marginalization.
Bloody liar!!! Igbos were never under represented in the aviation ministry. Infact before jonathan became president, yoruba and igbos shared almost equal percentage. It was when jonathan became president that everywhere was flooded with igbos. You people are greedy. Just accept it like that. Assuming jonathan was not sent packing, i wonder what the aviation ministry would look like now. I know why you guys are bitter that he lost that election. You are trying to justify your greed by lying.

I dont know if this is how all igbos in real life are, but if they are like this, then i say sorry for them. One of them was blaming yoruba for why they have not had biafra. The igbo guy believes that yoruba are the ones stopping them from having biafra even though the number of yoruba leader that have come out to support biafra are more than the igbo's.
The obsession is too much!!!

you see the problem with you igbos is greed. GEJ was there with mostly igbos as his cabinet members but you lots didn't ask him to split Nigeria.
As soon as he got booted out, you igbos started all sort of dramas out of jealousy for PMB and Osinbajo.

Osinbajo does not owe igbos anything cos you didn't vote him in. get that into your skull today
Madam, i am not igbo but Yoruba! Osinbajo in power will not add anything to our lives. Instead of all this ethnic superiorty, why not we split and rule ourselves. Just today, i heard an igbo man saying that after buhari's turn, power should be transferred to the them. Is this how a country should be? Should everything be about ethnic sentiments? Nigeria can never move forward at all because we are too diverse. Since we cannot stop all these ethnic sentiments, why cant we just go our separate ways? What have you benefited in nigeria? Is it poor power supply, health care, educational system, or population? cheesy
Anyways i am not igbo but a Yoruba man from ILESHA

Lols! I dont think osinbajo will do such. If eventually he does, then i will be really disappointed in him. I believe that man will the one to split this country one way or the other. Instead of the igbos crying everywhere, why not hold your leaders responsible? You can not leave nigeria peacefully without referendum which only your leaders can get for you if they are focus and determined. I support the disintegration of this country but it can only be achieved through your leaders. And if they do not support your cause, why not reject them in the poll and support an ipob or massob member. Be rest assured that these ones will fight for referendum.
The main focus now should be how to include referendum into the constitution.

Ask yorself this, why are our leaders keeping silent like they are not aware of our biafra struggle? Some yoruba leaders have come out to support biafra. Now before you call me a "one nigeria " guy, let me state it clear that i support the disintegration of this country with all my heart.

Exactly...yorubaas are the problem of this country. All other tribes including Hausa-Fulani rarely interfere in this Biafraa restoration struggle but Yorubaas I don't why, I believe it's out of envy that Igbos will be successful under Biafraa, so they are threatened. Are Igbos your mate for God in heaven? Igbos are not your mate, so stop thinking about them and worrying about what they re doing. The irony is Igbos /Biafraans don't care nor interfere in Oduo Republic struggle.
Ekweremadu is yoruba. You better go and meet your leaders in order to achieve your cause. Else you can keep blaming yoruba people for why you have not seceded yet.

This country sha need to separate. I wish many Yoruba people support it, but i hardly see any. Just look at nigeria, there is no future for this country. Like the igbos and the niger deltans, we also have leaders who due to greed, will want the country to still exist. We need to leave this country not for us but for the generations to come. A separate yoruba republic will do far much better than nigeria. Even if we do bad, we will still be able to provide at least 20hours electricity, good roads, massive employment for the youths through indigenous industries, better education system, better health care system. We will not be bothered about other ethnic groups and their hate since we no longer share the same country. I am also certain that corruption will eradicated. This is because there will be nothing like ethnic sentiments, so no leader will be allowed to steal money without being punished. Since we all have a common goal and enemy.
I stand by oodua republic!!!
I stand by a Yoruba nation!!!

If you search through nairalands threads and posts, you will hardly find the word Biafra 4 years ago. Biafra only became a permanent key word on nairaland and indeed Nigeria's political landscape after Buhari won the elections
See Mr, i am a yoruba man. Why do some people believe if you support the disintegration of this country, then you automatically become igbo? I am from ilesha and i believe that all these ethnic superiority will not benefit us. If yoruba had a separate country, we will be assured that the people to rule will be yoruba and there will be nothing like ethnic sentiment(which will be peaceful). Mind you as a yoruba, i see a reason why nigeria should exist. I dont think nigeria will ever move forward until we disintegrate into different countries. The country was created by the Europeans and before they came, we had our own unique language, culture, traditions and way of life. No sensible person should justify why a country with 300 ethnic group should still exist. There is no benefit in a country with such diversity. If the igbos want to leave nigeria, they should not vote these kind of leaders again, but vote for people that support cause.
This is the only way they can leave nigeria. War will achieve nothing but death.

Yesterday i told an igbo guy here on nairaland that they should stop blaming yoruba people for why they have not had biafra. They should blame their leaders and not omoluabis. If they want biafra, then they should put pressure on these leaders. There is simply no way you can get referendum unless your leaders fight for it. I doubt any yoruba lawmaker will resist their cause but i dont know about the northerners.
