idupaul:Sir. Virtually all sectors in Nigeria have been impacted by this directly from local manafacturers to even the local transporter simply because our economy is largely dependent on oil. Nigerians will see the truth and still refuse to accept it. |
Stardiamond:The info is on the travellex website. Valid visa passport bvn card boarding pass ticket check additional info on the website |
pressplay411:Bros our economic policies are ok. What is faulty is implementation and implementation is an all comers game meaning it is our collective responsibility to make the policies work And if you say his policies are not working may I ask that you suggest what policies will work? For the record soludo sanusi also contributed to the mess......soludo by allowing everything Tom dick and Harry to have a BDC license and sanusi by selling close to 16billion dollars to bdcs without proper records! |
pressplay411:Point taken but we need to look at this in context. What else do you want Emefiele to do? To sell dollar that is not available or do you think he has one dollar printing machine in his house where he can just go and print dollar? The dollars we have now is even from the inflows that come in from export proceeds and oil revenue. Prior to now we have largely enjoyed because of the rise in oil prices but oil prices are not stable again so that source of inflow is really threatened. This is why the CBN is aggressively encouraging people to produce for export Even now that oil is above 50 dollars Nigeria has not been able to meet our OPEC daily quota of 2.2m barrels per day because of the militants in the Niger Delta who are blowing up pipelines. So will you also blame Emefiele for that too. The 1.2 billion dollars sold through this special auction is the excess from the increase in crude prices for the month of December. To be sincere the man is trying and I think we need to give him kudos for that Our trade deficit alone is another thing because Nigerians love to import a lot and this basic truth is this If we want the dollar situation to abate...tell the militants to stop blowing up pipelines so we can meet our daily production quota and enjoy the excess from the increasing crude price now Minimize imports and try to use local alternatives Encourage Nigerians to export to reduce the trade deficit. It's a shame that even the commodities export market in Nigeria is been dominated by the Chinese now. Stop all forms of rent seeking activities around the dollar And for your information some of the banks whose names don't appear in the post have erred because some banks buy the dollar and end up selling to the black market people who in turn sell to politicians and other importers that want to bring in good on the banned list of items. Are you also going to blame Zenith and Emefiele for that? I know some banks have been banned from the special auction window I rest my case here. God bless Nigeria. For those looking for PTA. You can easily get from the travellex office at MMIA at official rate but you must provide authentic documents and it will only be sold on the day of travel not before. I have gotten from them twice between October and now. Bearing in mind that you are only entitled BTA/PTA four times a year. |
Tell your brothers in the creeks to stop blowing up gas pipelines. |
AbuadStudent:On the contrary the one abroad is way tougher. How many dead bodies did he dissect while in school? No be to cram text pass oh. I wish him the best though |
Yaasir:What are you saying? Pls read the post again and edit your comment. Do BDC operators process Form M?, do they do forward and spot FX transactions? Do they open LC and Bills for collections for customers that want to import raw materials and machinery for customers? Oh my.........God help us in country! |
pressplay411:Bros Emefiele has nothing to do with zenith having the highest volume. Banks were asked to send in bids for this since like two weeks ago and also asked to send in to clear back log of transactions for target sectors. A lot of of these banks didn't comply and we're sending in for back log of invisible transactions (school fees etc) and those bids were dropped. The results of the bids are on the CBN website for all to see and also published in the national dailies We really need to stop all this sentimental posts God bless Nigeria. |
Nusaf:Your insightful analysis is on point. I think beyond anything else the accountability and structure around public revenue is more clearer. I also like your post about cheap rice. Nigerians will sell and mortage their future for a bog of subsidized rice. |
obailala:God bless you. This is what the 30b UsD loans is for because I think the govt of the day has realized that there needs to be an aggressive plan in place to ram up infrastructure but alas a lot of people don't see reason with this including our so called senators. Just as people are quick to blame Buhari for the recession. |
Gambia is one of the poorest nations in the world with an estimated population of about 2.5-3m people whose mean source of revenue is tourism so this means a lot to them. And God knows how much he has already shipped outside the country. I hold my head in sham for those comparing him to our Nigerian politicians. God help us because we really have a long way to go. |

First and foremost CBN has been selling dollars to BDC operators since the time of GEJ. Infact it is on record that about 6billion dollars was sold to BDC operators in one year alone during GEJ's tenure. It is also on record that a lot of these BDC's are fronts for corrupt politicians and civil servants. Someone once showed me documentary evidence linking ownership of about 150 BDCs to a former VP of this country. The Buhari administration has been trying to sanitize the BDC business but met with stiff resistance. Just like Nigerians want Buhari's head for banning foreign rice yet at the same time we want local producers to excel. My question is if we don't patronise the local producers how will they excel? A lot of the manufacturers that are also making noise are rent seekers who simply want to get dollars from CBN using over invoiced Form M after which they turn back and sell over 70% of the dollars back to the black market. Let's stop deceiving over selves. Nigeria will not change for the better but rather get worse until we Nigerians decide to shun all sorts of corrupt greedy practices that undermine the growth of our country. CBN stopped giving Erisco the tomato paste maker "special dollars" because they discovered that he was round tripping some of the dollars in the black market. The man comes and starts shouting and saying that he will relocate his business not minding the fact that he has committed an offence that is punishable by death in countries like China and Korea. Yet ignorant and gullible Nigerians are abusing the govt without even knowing the full story. The bad thing is the dollar situation will not abate or get better any soon despite the increase in oil revenue because the pile up of cash for 2019 elections has started and this pile up is currently been done by three sets of people namely....PDP, APC and a new political party in the making. God bless Nigeria |
donfemo:Having a really stressful and hectic day at work and this post really crack me up real good. |
Apparently alot of people dont know the genesis of this story. |
Congrats. Pls remember that this is an enpowerment initiative and not for rent seeking purposes. Pls ensure that you put this to good use. God bless Nigeria! |
Nigerians and our craze for titles. Why emphasize that he is a pastor. He is a bridegroom QED! |
igwegeorgiano:No decent well brought up individual will rain these kind of curses and abuses on another fellow human. May God have mercy on your soul as you battle your daily demons I still recommend you for a brain reset though. I won't mind footing the cost. |
igwegeorgiano:You still need a brain reset. |
igwegeorgiano:You need a brain reset. Seriously |
Preciousojoka:I disagree. People are naturally greedy especially Nigerians. That's all. |
Warren Buffet added about 12billion dollars to his networth yet you don't see him moving from one big mansion to another bigger mansion. Same applies to Bill Gates, Mark Z et.al This is maybe one of the reasons why blacks don't have or transfer what is known as generational money More so dude has like three kids from thee baby mamas. I still wish him the best and congrats |
Dude already has a lovely mansion at VGC. I don't get his obsession with all these properties that are liabilities, will cost a fortune to maintain and most likely won't be occupied by any body else once he moves out. I hope he is saving for the rainy day sha. Congrats and all the best to him. |
Cheap publicity. You had to copy Toke, Linda, Bella Naija etc to achieve what exactly? I was going to sympathize with you but no point doing that again. Also you come agree as the relatively unstable, dramatic and emotionally immature type who feels they can trap or get a guy with good looks and fleek skin. Sorry to bust your bubble but most matured men are not like that oh. Matured men will likely date you and put you on the side chick levels and do this for donkey years and you suddenly wake up and discover that the dude is getting married to some random chick who is just an ordinary Jane Doe. Men want a woman who can hold a house down and not some egocentric chick who storms out of the house at the slightest provocation. My niece used to do this because she is a combo of beauty and brains and this got to her so bad but nobody taught her to sit up when she lost like three correct guys to other smart ladies. Thank God she is married now and knows better. On a final note....are you reporting the guy to the trio of Linda, Bella and Toke so they can stop the wedding or what? |
Lovely place. However the locals are not very friendly and they also have this quasi ownership mentality of our militant brothers in the Niger Delta. This is the area where Dangote originally considered for the siting of his refinery but this idea was met with very stiff resistance and unreasonably high demands by the locals and Mimiko govt. God knows the array of opportunities that they have missed Overall the location won't be bad as a world class tourist location if one or two hotels and tourist sites are constructed there. |
elfmann:I meant expelled. Apologies for my gaffe. I was typing in annoyance of the fact that someone can just put their potential at risk for a paltry 72k. Thanks a lot and merry xmas |
I hope those that broke the ATM have gotten cash out of the broken ATM now. There are alternate channels like mobile money, POS Internet banking, Short code banking for transactions. Everything mustn't be done with physical naira and kobo. I also agree that there should be more awareness on the usage of these other channels but going to destroy an ATM because it has stopped dispensing cash is a huge NO NO. Savages are too much in this country. |
I hope this guy knows that he has just ruined any future chances he has at getting any good job offers, political office or even visa with this. I hear embassies now comb the Internet for info on visa applicants. Same also applies to banks, IOCs,FMCGs and even other relatively smaller companies. If the uni he attends is a decent uni he should be suspended or even expelled. All for the love of 72k he has soiled his future and I bet he does not even know this because apparently people only have a tunnel vision now and don't think about the long term implication that their current actions have. And pls what is bruh? |
persius555:For the record, these countries don't have the same economic indices with ours. Get your facts right! |
karid:Sensible post. God bless you. CBN is already empowering SMES through the single digit intervention loans The only thing is that a lot of these SMES take the facility and still go ahead to import since they will make higher margins from this in the short run. Sometimes we are the problem and not the CBN or goverment! |
grandstar:And you Sir know a lot right? We live in a country where we import practically everything we consumer despite an abundance of raw material input to produce local alternatives. A country where people wake up everyday to sabotage any effort to make this country great just for their selfish gains. Let me ask you Mr Economics......do you know that there is already a silent mopping up of dollar cash by our corrupt politicians for 2019 elections? And that the depreciation of the naira against the dollar is largely driven by this. Import bill is declining year on year which means that in theory demand for dollar to foot this should also reduce so also exchange rate should also fall but alas the exchange rate keeps going up. I guess your knowledge of economics can't explain that simply because the demand is largely driven by speculation and not based on transactions per say! Also people are quick to draw some spurious comparisons between countries like Russia etc. One quick question what is the composition of the capital accounts of these countries compared with ours? What is their population size? What kind of bilateral and multilateral trade agreements do they have with other countries that makes free flow of capital goods and services easy between these countries? What percentage of our foreign reserves Foreign Direct Investment as against Foreign Portfolio Investment? IF the dollar is really allowed to free float as most are shouting here. Nigeria and Nigerians will be in for it. Inflation will be up by 1000 percent and that highly sought after foreign rice that we are all dying to eat for exams will cost 1000 times over. I think people should go and read up on what is happening in Venezuela now just to have a clear understanding. I don't need to have any knowledge of economics all I need is common sense to understand that a country can only survive if it is self sustaining and we have all the resources to do just this. P.S just for the record and without sound brash.....I graduated with a first class in economics from Uni Ibadan. You can take my moniker and go and ask around the Uni if in doubt. |
Lies. This picture has nothing to do with ATM withdrawals. This picture was taken during some physical verification exercise done at the bank People need to stop spread lies and posting sensational threads to attract comments and I think that the nairaland mods should do something about this. No doubt, queues at ATM machines have increased this yuletide season but posting this and passing it off as ATM queue is uncalled for. |
