Seriously, somebody needs to hook these two muppets up. They also need to be sterilized so that they don't breed in the process. I just can't imagine what the hybrid of Jim "obnoxious" Iyke and Linda "gossip girl" Ikeji will look like :s |
I wish we can just go back to the days of the old when relationships were not based on the superficial as it obtains today but rather on the totality of what comes from within both persons involved. Maybe the rate of so called heartbreaks, cheating and complexity that is synonymous with most contemporary relationships will be reduced to a minimum. |
People need to seriously chill about this Kanye West and Kim K relationship. No doubt, Kim is not a saint but please tell me which girl is in this day and era (I am also not making a hasty generalization here). Yes, she has a sex tape and also slept with quite a handful of men and so what. You will be amazed that a lot of the people have even worse. Only thing it has not be made public. The main thing is that both people are happy and that is what matters! All we need do is wish them the best. There is no point been the judge, jury and prosecutor of their lives. Both people are making money and moving on with their lives, one step at a time whilst some people are busy trying to draw a road map of what will happen next, how long they will date, when they will break up etc. The devil you know is better than the angel you don and he who is not guilty should cast the first stone.....#QED# |
The fact that he has snapped a picture with the car and a blogger has put it online does not mean he has acquired it. I am not saying that Iyanya can't afford an Aston Martin but we need to verify information before we comment on it. Just like some people almost went "gaga" when P square took pictures in a private jet and every body just concluded that they had acquired a one. |
There is nothing wrong in Ice Prince asking for 1 million USD if the story is true. He is currently at the top of his game right now. He has been consistent at churning out good hits, is backed by a good record label (Choc city) where there seems to be some form of structure and has the trio of M.I, Brymo and Jesse Jagz in his team. More so, he has remained level headed and relatively scandal free. If Glo can afford him why not? It is high time we start giving props to our local artistes especially those that are good at what they do. |
Looks like Dangote has opened a floodgate with his graduate drivers scheme. Well certain issues still prevail. Our graduates need to understand that they can't compete with international standards. I don't mean to take the piss at anybody but this is the truth. A cursory look at the responses, language and undertone of replies herein attest to this. This said, Dangote owes nobody nothing, the fact that he has made his billions merchandising essential commodities is no guarantee that he owes everyone that has consumed his product a gratitude. After all, he is not the only one in the FMCG sector. As per the training, he provided accommodation for three months, feeding and other sundry expenses and still paid people 30k per month and not 10k as the poster posited taking a gamble of people that have not added any value to the growth of his business. Yet people are asking for his head. If you are not comfortable with this, there is still plenty of space for anybody who is ready to bear the risk of entrepreneurship. All you need do is identify a need, target a market, create a niche around the two and just maybe you could follow in the footsteps of dangote...#QED# I recall that GTB in those days will only give you 40k per month for a training duration of four intensive months. No feeding, nothing and if you don't meet the pass mark, you are shown the door. I understand that this is still the standard practice and many other banks are following this pattern. Maybe this will allow our graduates to wake up and be more serious and stop thinking that they can walk on water and should be paid an arm and leg just because they have a degree or MSc The is a big difference between being educated and having and education God bless Nigeria! |
Feeding, accommodation and other auxillary expenses were covered during the training period. The trainees are yet to add any value to Dangote's company and yet you expect him to pay you wages not earned. He has invested billions in the training academy and also increased the skill sets of the trainees. I think it is unfair to label "Dangote" a wicked person. He is running a business and not a charity. In as much as all basic expenses have been covered by him during the training period, why expect to be paid a wage when the participants are yet to add any value in "Naira and Kobo" terms Just my two cents! |
It amazes me when people are invited for recruitment test and they come on nairaland asking people to help them. It speaks volumes. If I applied for any job opening that requires me taking a test, I would prepare in advance for the test irrespective the time-line for the test invite because no knowledge is lost. Also, I have a dim view of people that act along this line because it simply shows that they are already used to this "hand me all the answers mentality" which is typical of most graduates. First and foremost, simple logic connotes that most tests are conducted electronically these days except in some few instances, so the ideal is to master the intrigues of a computer based test like timing, structure of the questions etc. Secondly, if you have applied for a specialist role, the employer is most likely to ask you questions based on your area of specialism and job application. There could also include questions on general management, politics etc just to ascertain if the potential conadiate is well rounded. It is amazing when people just rush online and ask as if they want the test question and answers to be handed to them in advance. The question is: why apply for the job in the first place if you know that you are not capable of handling the rigours of the recruitment process? Just my two cents! God bless Nigeria! |
We are all quick to blame without addressing the root cause of the problem. More so, I have discovered that we Nigerians like to throw the word "poverty" around loosely. I tell you one experience. I spent the last xmas holiday in Nigeria and out of curiosity got involved in some welfare work in my local church. I, on a periodic basis send money to support this cause and wanted to see how the funds were spent. I recall that we went to some part of Mushin all the way from Lekki to distribute foodstuff, bibles and other things(used clothes, shoes, books etc). One particular woman caught my attention........26 yrs 6 kids, no work and the kids from different men. When I probed further, the lady in question confided in me and said that she gives birth to these kids every year because she knows that she will get more "stuff" from the church. I was dumbfounded. What about the future of the kids. Do you we realize that a lot of the touts and marabouts causing mayhem in Lagos are from this kind of background. The era of people giving birth to a dozen kids under the auspices of "children are a gift from God and so HE will cater for them" does not work anymore especially in this harsh economic climate. I am not holding sway for the woman who burnt the girl but which kind of parent will send a 15 year old to go and live with such a woman? Please we need to change our mentality if we much fight the root cause of poverty For the woman that committed this dastardly act, she should face the FULL wrath of the law without compromise! |
Well, NIPOST still exist but I doubt if they can still compete efficiently in the global market place. Their services are also quite cheap too. One thing though, the FGN is not owning them 69 months salary. This translates into about 5 years of work without pay. What is owed is pension arrears and there is a verification process going on . More so these same worker refused to participate in the electronic verification process thereby making it difficult to authenticate who is eligible for pension or not. I feel concern for the striking workers but let's get a feel of the global picture before condemning the FG. |
The house is no where worth 5 million USD. The house is around USD150-250k circa and probably on a mortgage. I have just made inquiries from a friend that stays within the area. I am quite happy that he has a house in the U.S but let's get our facts right please. USD 5 million translates to 750 million naira or three quarters of a billion. That is 5 times the market value of their house in Nigeria. The problem is that a lot of us Nigerians don't see a million naira as anything again (I witnessed this over the christmas holiday which I spent in Nigeria). However, in the US, one million is a lot. I also doubt if the lad can shell out that kind of money on a house in America when he is based in Nigeria, unless I am missing something here All the best! |
Seriously what kind of name is "Lala"? ![]() |
It is rather sad that a lot of young people are passing through this phase. It is what the world has become. We live in a world where certain values and morals are no longer taught, where people no longer understand the value of patience and where things or rewards are wanted immediately. I empathize with the poster but the truth is all the "externalities" you have mentioned will not make you happy. Happiness has to come from within. It is not guaranteed by the external and temporary things around us. More so our folks, boyfriend, social network connections or even degree won't make you happy. Only YOU can make yourself happy. Best of luck! |
@Chigo4u....Please, Nigeria is not that backward. People buy songs from itunes in Nigeria. a lot. Get your facts right please. I can agree with you if you say that Nigerian artistes don't have a huge platform on the "itunes music space" but the truth is they don't make much money from album downloads or sales. In fact, they don't even make any money from album sales of any form. Online piracy and our "Igbo brothers" at Alaba market see to this. A large chunk of their money comes from shows and concerts (both public and private), endorsements and other sources. |
Seun has the propensity to better cashflows now and in the future than the duo of Dbanj and Ikeji put together. I mean you don't see the owner of Facebook chilling out in clubs taking pictures with artistes do you? So because Ikeji has posed with Dbanj, that automatically makes her a better than Seun right. #SMH# |
The sentence structure of the topic itself is grammatically incorrect to start with. Perhaps, the moderator can review this And Yes....it is really affecting our oral and written English in great leaps and bounds! |
@airmark.......Well.....this will be my last post on this matter. I will like to indicate certain things though. You can't force people to see things from your own perspective, you can only present your case logically and hope that they reason with you. Secondly, please learn to treat issues as they come up in isolation. I don't know why you are so obsessed with this "Nigeria is a shythole" phrase. I could be wrong but you come across as one of stranded lot outside doing all sort of menial jobs to eke out a living. Try and come back home like some of us do. Trust me there are opportunities abound in this country ( you are also quick to attack a harmless poster who made a simple comment along this line) Also learn to read people's comments before posting. Replying to people's comments without reading and understanding the content herein just makes a huge mockery of your IQ Still on Dbanj....yes I criticize him not out of hate but because I believe he can do better that what he is doing now esp with the resources and connections. Let's be sincere you don't need a good music deal or collabo to churn out below average songs like "cashflow oyato and bachelor". In my own opinion. He is "over promising and delivery is below expectation" I have attended his shows in the Mohit days and now this...no doubt he is making money but only time will tell, let me say this again...you can only make so much noise in the music industry. However, it is the quality of songs that you churn out that will determine your longevity and quite frankly he is churning out mediocre songs now Yes.......I paid and went for the concert. I mean who wouldn't with Tinie Tempah, Idris Elba, Pusha T, BIG Sean Ice Prince and other stars on parade I thought it would be worth it but I guess I made a wrong call! Finally, you really have ample time on your hands going through people's profile to dig out posts....Well go through mine again dig deeper and you will see that "Shoe get Size" |
Apparently, I have wasted my time on this thread. Just for the record,I left before the end because as I rightly indicated I was amongst those who trekked and was really pissed off after witnessing for 45mins a total lack of organization called KoKo Concert! More so, I got friends that stayed till the end and all I need do is put a call through to them to answer your question but as I have mentioned, I have nothing to prove to you (I am not one of those that come on a public domain for cheap publicity) ...the show is a FLOP....period! The success of a concert is not determined by ticket sales alone....a good marketing plan and aggressive awareness can earn you that. It is also not determined by the array of stars headlined (Apparently, I fell for the two above referenced). It goes way beyond that! Look at the Breezy concert....and look at Dbanj. I mean people trekked, show didn't start on time, the main host (Idris Elba) only appeared like twice, the entry and exit of the array of stars was not properly executed and yet you still give accolades? If you have attended concerts abroad, you will appreciate the intended message herein. Or better still go to Youtube....search for "Kanye West Cochella" "Beyonce Glastonbury" or "Watch the throne concert", watch and maybe you will understand better. |
@ airmark........I don't need to prove anything to you. I still stick to my statement. I was one of those that trekked so you can imagine how frustrating it was after all the media hype and publicity....... We like to celebrate mediocrity in all that we do. I wish Dbanj the very best but his current hype should be backed up by action. Let me ask you...how many of his new hits enjoy air play? We need to be fair in our appraisal. It is only in Nigeria that we praise and worship our entertainers even when it is apparent that standards are dropping. Let me ask you..do you think Mr Kokomaster can put together such a dismal concert in NYC, London etc and get away with it. The answer is a big "NO". People will surely ask for a refund. He is top of his game supposedly but he needs to wake up. |
I was there. The show was a flop....PERIOD!. There was a lot of hype and no substance to back the hype up. I attended the Hurricane Sandy concert on 12-12-12 headlined by Kanye West and his performance wasn't at par. He came out and admitted this and promised to raise the bar. A lot people are not speaking because they hate Dbanj but dude needs to step up his game. After "Oliver Twist"....which other hit/club banger has he churned out. People keep saying that he has made money but in the entertainment.....continuity and sustainability is the key word. If you doubt me ask the duo that sang Danfo Driver......Daddy Showkey etc |
It is true...dbanj paid a hefty sum for the promotional signing with GOOD Music...that was the main reason why Don Jazzy opted out of the deal because he didn't understand why they would have to pay such an amount to gain international appeal if they could do so on their own with the right marketing. The Loya Milk deal is reportedly worth about one hundred million naira (tax free of course)! So tell me even Dbanj with all his "gra gra" will jump at the same deal. I also hear that Don Jazzy is gonna produce customized ringtones for Samsung and Nokia specifically targeted at the African market. Please how many other deals has Kokomaster signed since the split? Don Jazzy is also doing something big with the Lagos State govt to open a music academy......I rest my case here By the way.....I am yoruba by origin! |
I wish both parties the very best in all their endeavours. The million dollar question is this? How many hits has Dbanj produced after "Oliver Twist"? and if we quite remember, "Oliver Twist" was made popular via the Youtube video posted by the duo. More so, why the sudden concentration on Nigeria again, if Mr Koko's intent is to go "International"(he should be headlining sold out concerts in NYC, London and other major cities in the world and not Nigeria because in his own words and I quote..."He wants to conquer the world with his own brand of music". Also, if he is really sure that he's a crowd puller, why employ the services of A list stars to perform at his show? Stars like Jay Z, Kanye West, and our very own P square and Bracket headline sold out concerts without other artistes performing. Without any bias, I can only give Kokomaster the respect he deserves if he can carve out a niche for himself outside the Mo-hits/Oliver Twist fiasco. All the marketing and noise can only take one so far.......Well like I initially indicated.."I wish both parties the best of luck" |
Sorry to bust your bubble but the best way to win her heart is to have a very un-interested stance towards the lady in question. Women are put off by men who try hard at winning their hearts. I have also realized that women tend to fall for men who are enigmatic and unpredictable. If she can predict your every move even before you make it then you ain't gonna go far. Women like intrigue, suspense and the occasional adrenaline rush. The funny thing is you won't need to break the coffers of a bank to do any of these. It is either you have it in you or you don't. Best of luck with your conquest! |
Baba-olowo indeed. Tell him to pay back all the debt that he is owing and that has been transferred to AMCON. What about banks that went under before Soludo's consolidation where he held sway with billions still unaccounted for. I am not beefing him or his son Davido but we need to stop celebrating mediocrity. I am quite happy that Davido has made money through his "TALENT" as some peeps say here. After all, Terry G the "Akpako" master is also making waves in his own realm too. Well, let's see how far his talent can take him. This is a classic example of how we hinder progress in our country. In developed countries people with dubious source of income are not celebrated but in Nigeria, the opposite is the case. Best of luck to both father and son and God bless Nigeria! |
Point of correction. He spent 80,000 pounds and not 800,000 before some 'nairalanders' will bust a gut! |
The option suggested herein is rather extreme but the truth is that Nigeria is becoming an over populated and something drastic has to be done to mitigate for the downsides of this trend. Unfortunately, Nigerians are very funny people who believe that children whether they can be catered for or not are a gift from God. The irony is that there is absolutely no point having children when the economic means to accommodate them is not sustainable. More so if you carry out a survey most of those that end up as miscreants are probably children from homes where the above mentioned is lacking. Although this assertion can be argued further. This said, I would agree with the poster but this way out should be at the volition of people involved and not by compulsion. |
When I posted this, some people said that I was a prophet of doom and now it is fast becoming a reality. Very soon dbanj will release an album filled with just animal sounds and we will call it a "club banger" We need to stop celebrating mediocrity. The song is wack simple and short! |
It is very simple. IFRS is not rocket science! Just use the google search engine or visit the official IFRS website and the procedure is there. How each accounting entry should be treated can also be found there! I want to assume that you must have been preparing financial statements before even in its elementary form This is the internet era thus anything can be found on the net! |
They don't own a private jet. A ten seater Bombardier jet cost about 20 million USD (approx 4 billion naira) and quite frankly, I don't think that the duo of P Square can afford to put that kind of money into such a liability. No doubt, they are successful entertainers by African standards but they are not yet there. The jet is borrowed, just as I and a couple of my friends can hire a stretch limo, get a driver to take round town so also, they have done same with the jet in question and yes it is all a publicity stunt because that is the name of the game in the entertainment industry (do everything possible to remain relevant) It just amazes me that people get brainwashed easily by what they see and hear without critically looking at the facts at their disposal. Just like some people on an earlier thread said that "Davido has bought a house in Lekki worth over 100 million" when in fact the property in question is under a lease agreement! |
This just depicts what our society has degenerated into. I am pretty sure that there is a decent guy out there who has asked this lady out with genuine intentions but of course she will feel that he is not at par because the bitter truth is Nigerian girls don't like "Nice guys" Rather, they will prefer to be with a spineless hunk who will beat them blue, black and not treat them like the "African queens" that they are I don't feel any pity what so ever for all the "actors in this play". I only empathize with the "unborn child" "Publicity stunt" my below! |
We need to learn how to accept criticism. I am amazed that the thread has taken a tribal dimension. This surely confirms my worst fear- Nairaland has definitely gone to the "underdogs" Anyway, I am of "yoruba" origin but I will still restate my claim- kudos for the achievement. However, the school is relatively unknown. There is no point allowing the recipient bask in the euphoria of his feat, it will only create a leeway for mediocrity- a social pandemic that is the bane of under achievement amongst the younger generation in our country. Let him repeat same at MIT et.al and my respect will increase! |
