MostImportant: How exactly did he destroy the country? Is he a politician? Is he responsible for the insecurity crisis in the country? IS he stealing money from government? Is he importing substandard good like your igbo brothers into the country? Is he a yahoo boy? Is he part of the people blowing up pipelines in the Niger Delta? Pleasw explain how and what he has done? Dont let your ethnic bigotry take control of your life. If it is Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos or Elon Musk that is celebrating, you would be showering praises on them despite the fact that they have not impacted you in any way. idinaija: Oga we are in a capitalist economy where production and distribution are privately or corporately owned. Operations are funded by profits and not controlled by a state government. This is the reason there is price variation for the same goods in different locations For e.g a barber will charge 200 naira for haircut in one place while another will charge 5 times this amount for the same haircut in another location And you can also go and buy directly from his factory. Tribal bigot. If it was an igbo man now you will be screaming business savvy etc but because its another tribe yiu are doing otherwise 2 Likes |

Aderupoko2: For clarity, the announcement is for trading in foreign stocks and not for NSE traded transactions and yes alot of the local stock brokers have trading apps where you can fund your accounts directly and trade remotely |

studentofTruth: While I think that the SEC pronouncement is ill-timed, I will also have to disagree with your comment. Not everything should be drawn along the lines of tribal sentiment or me vs them or we against the government/ruling class trajectory. The SEC has the primary duty to regulate the capital market and by so have every right to use the power in the Investment and Securities Act to act in this regard. For record, the era of pump and dump expired over 10-15 years ago on the NSE, secondly the NSE is mainly driven by activities of institutional investors and I can tell you for free that they prefer it that way for liquidity and control of ownership. Finally, even the foreign markets that we are all praising are fraught with fraud at even mind boggling levels. Go and read up on Gamestop and Bill Hwang of Arhegos Capital. 2 Likes |

ezef2k4: Point of correction, the trio of Trove, Chaka and Bamboo are not licensed capital market operators (CMO) and only act as intermediaries. This is why your NGN stock purchases are routed though a duly licensed stock broker and they charge you a fee for using their platform and share commission with their partners when you trade. For ease of simple analysis, they are like the ubiquitous POS agents we see all around that carry out banking transactions on behalf of banks for a fee but are not duly licensed. I think this will create an opportunity to even review the archaic SEC law to reflect the developments in the capital market. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Mrquote: Yes alot didn't read as the announcement is targeted at the online investment platforms that allows Nigerians to trade and invest in US, Nigerian, and Chinese stocks online from the comfort of their mobile device. But also this presents a good opportunity to still create awareness about the online ponzi schemes too |
Investment / Re: SEC On Proliferation Of Unregistered Online Investment And Trading Platforms by deenee: 11:18pm On Apr 08, 2021 |
Someone7: How exactly are they trying to survive? By been greedy and putting their hard earned money in ponzi schemes where there is no underlying economic activity. Somebody is promising you 35% ROI on a monthly basis with no economic activity and y'all jump on it. If it was that easy, they won't be online trying to scam people. Our short cut mentality is the really we keep running round in circles with no meaningful development. Una never start. I hear somebody invested over 500m naira in one of the online schemes before it went bust, with the promise that they would be paid 40% ROI monthly and after 12 months, principal will be returned. That's a 480% ROI or N2.4 billion naira return in 1 year and this does not include principal. There is absolutely no business that can generate that kind of return in this prevailing economy. Elsueno: Less than 10 of the total listed stocks on the NSE account for over 90% of market liquidity with Dangote Cem, MTNN, GTB, Zenith, BUA Cement and AirtelNGN accounting for over 65% of market capitalization Also, the free float for these afore mentioned stocks is less then 25% because the rest 75% are owned directly or indirectly by the founders and MD/CEOs of these companies or by Institutional Investors on a long term basis. This structure already on its own is an anomaly and creates an imperfect market situation. 1 Like |

It is obvious from the comments here that alot don't read or are not abreast with relevant events in the country and just basically digest junk news daily. I also pray that the tribal sentiments don't destroy us all. Oscar still is the Head of the stock exchange Y'all please go and read up the demutualisation of the NSE. |

NSE has just completed the process of demutualisation and has three operating entities namely NGX Limited, NGX REGCO and NGX RELCO all of which will report to a Holdco called NGX Limited and guess who the GCEO of NGX Limited is .......Oscar Onyema 4 Likes 1 Share |

Tendernessboy: Governance is a continuous exercise and the previous governor left alot of projects in critical areas uncompleted. And secondly the flooding problem around Sango Otta is not caused by lack of roads per say but your people incessantly dumping refuse and waste into the canals and drainage systems which in turn causes alot of blockage and flooding any time there is rain fall The governor is trying is best! |

The sultry pictures is a huge NO NO for me. While I don't mean to undermine her efforts and supposed achievements. I also feel that all that she is been praised for here is nothing new. There are tons of people doing all of ground breaking work to lift people out of poverty pre and post C19. Same applies to the palliative bit of the escolades. Let her do something seminal in her line of choosen work then she will get my praise. Otherwise I see this as another sponsored content by a social media and clout chasing Nigerian. And Alex Reports signature all over it further waters down the entire debacle for me. |

To be very honest, its their life. They are two consenting adults and frankly no body's business if they decide to date. The Internet has become a platform for people to say all sorts and I mean people that can't and shouldn't even interact with in physical. For all the ladies saying MC is below her class because he is an agbero, let me say this he is an agbero that sits on a 2-3 billion naira a month cash collection business. Let that sink in. Secondly some of y'all screaming that he is rass are probably dating worse. In a nut shell people should learn to mind their business 3 Likes |

Redcrafton: Dear nairalander, Yes this is what I mean without mincing words but also a clarion call for us southerners to wake up and smell the coffee. What do y'all think the NIN SIM card registration process is for? Don't be surprised that the govt can this to disenfranchise voters in 2023 and as usual, instead for people (opps! southerners) to link same, y'all ranting on social media like the people that pull the strings and control resources in the country are on socail media and will read your rants. While y'all all sleeping they have crafted their playbook and already running with it Finally to the app......it is not compulsory that you must all like it and ironically again social media had become an emerging phenomenon and is gaining momentum in the North where they have first mover advantage with population so,if his northern people like the app....he will be fine. The danger of a single story. I suggest y'all take a trip to the north, to see and immerse in their culture esp for those who think and feel life begins and ends on nairaland and in lagos state. Cheers! |

IamAtikulate: Which southerners made the North president? Check your facts. Even the swing states in the south had to depend on critical votes in the North to become swing states rhetorically. The igbos are permanently divided and can't agree on a consensus candidate for any presidential election. The yorubas are quick to betray their kin and sell out at the drop of a hat. Visit all the federal agencies and see how the North has placed themselves. Any southerners in any critical position is either a stooge or puppet for the north. So continue to wallow in your self delusional state of cheap talk and control on social media Oh yes I am Southerner by the way. 1 Like |

Very Ironic and laughable are the comments here and speaking generally to the Aboki is not intelligent debacle The same abokis that y'all quote ain't intelligent are the ones ruling Nigeria, have all the juicy national appointments, control the national resources and will even determine who the next president will be in 2023. While y'all are having verbal orgies on social media they are putting plans in place to continue to rule the country. Don't be surprised if the fares guy becomes your next president or VP while y'all continue to rant on nairaland.com Cheers |

My sincere condolences to the family of the bereaved. But on a serious note what was the deceased doing at a crowded gas station at 10pm in the night especially one littered with hoodlums armed with dangerous weapons. For me, common sense would have told me to quickly leave the place to prevent the stuff that happened. |
Crime / Re: 18 Kano Traders Kidnapped In Kogi by deenee: 4:04pm On Jan 14, 2021 |
This is sad but I am of the opinion that business can be conducted virtually and on the phone if there is trust between both parties. For example the wholesalers in Aba etc can share pictures of new arrivals with the kano retailers and they agree and close out on pricing and other logistics. There is just no reason to travel that long distance with all the attendant risk. I pray for God's protection over them 1 Like |
Phones / Re: How New Whatsapp Policy Threatens Security Of Nigerians And Other Alternatives by deenee: 9:50pm On Jan 12, 2021 |
If you are not using WhatsApp for shady activity nor to defraud people and/or spread fake information, then the new feature should be a problem. Switching to a new app i.e Signal, Telegram etc is still the same because your information on these apps will always be stored somewhere for reference, so in a nutshell the idea of privacy on all these apps is just an illusion. |
