Ray7878: Yes you can, but make sure you have a L plate plastered to your car, and someone that has a full UK licence for over 3 years sits next to you when you drive. You can or have to change the Nigerian licence over to a provisional one after some time though. Bros, but all this one is not necesstri na The simple answer is a YES periodt!!!! |

TheGuyFromHR: By their driving ye shall know them. Funnily enough, I went to a driving school in Naija, and I was taught about that and not to do that, along with the proper way to navigate roundabouts (which I find difficult to unlearn, giving credence to Lexus' hypothesis). You are right, I don’t think any driving school in naija will teach its students to do that. Some of us didn’t go to driving school, as a teenager I just picked up daddy’s keys to sneak out whenever there is a spare car at home. |

Lexusgs430: Let's not fight....... The only part that is a positive, is the aspect of coordination........
If using a manual vehicle for your test, when driving down a hill, drop your gearbox from gear to neutral .......... The first driving lessons I had, told my instructor I have 12 years driving experience. Na so he give me car say he wan see my driving. When we got to the down hill part, I put car for neutral straight. The guy asked me “Where did you learn that, was that how you were taught in Nigeria ” |

specialenvoy: Please has anyone been able to book practical driving tests recently?
the dates am seeing around Yorkshire and Manchester are far into November. Is this the norm? There is a scope to it and it’s what I did. Book any available date you see on the dvla website and download an app called “testi”. You pay a one time in-app fee of like £10, can't rem the exact figure. Any time there is a cancellation, it notifies you and you pick the date. Even if you fail your test, it will still be active until you pass. My first booking was Oct 31st, now my test is in July. If I want to do a test tomorrow or anytime before my chosen date in July, I can because there are always cancellations. I chose July because that's when I feel I will be ready Thanks to Testi |

gistbite: How did you go about the ECCTIS? And did your partner do it too? My partner didn’t have to do anything since I’m now the main applicant. For ecctis, you require a degree certificate, transcript and a medium of instruction from your uni that says you were taught in English language. If you can’t provide these things, just do IELTS except maybe you have a UK degree. You shouldn’t be getting conflicting information because all that you need is clearly stated on the uk government website (skilled worker) |

gistbite: Has anyone switched from a Dependant visa to Tier 2 here recently? Did you have to write UKVI ielts for visa application? English Language requirement is a MUST. I successfully switched from dependant visa to Tier 2 and I used ECCTIS. Other ways of proving your English language can be found on the gov website and IELTS is one of them. |

CeeCyrils: Please people that are already in the UK and have gotten the HCWV, kindly assist us that are still in Naija with contacts that can give this COS? We're ready to transport and maintain ourselves there. It's so discouraging getting the 'unfortunately' love letters and now most of the vacancies are requesting for people there. This japa season must favour me o Because the industry is getting saturated now, most employers are recruiting students that are here already, it’s also cheaper because they won’t be paying the surcharge. Keep looking for care homes that just got their licence and keep applying. |

Uzland: W W! Finally! This is great news! Congratulations to you, DeeOneBangin! Please do the usual of a detailed timeline. Not sure there is much to say since I’m already here as a dependant. Okay so the plan was to get post study visa (£2000 each) after my wife’s masters and then hopefully she gets a tier 2 job and if unfortunately she doesn’t then I will have to switch to do my own masters so we can extend our stay in the country. Then the uk government announced the new carer visa (6145) and I decided to give it a try. Thanks to nairaland, I used the “uktiersponsors” website to search and filter out care homes and domiciliary care agencies that just got their sponsorship license and I was able to land several interviews because I was already working in the sector as a support worker. Las las I landed two job offers and I picked this one that I currently work with. I have been working here for over a month now, first salary don drop sef. Didn’t have to wait for visa to come out since I’m in the country already. Interview Date: 17/03/2022 Offer Letter: 04/04/2022 CoS Assigned: 13/04/2022 Visa Application: 14/04/2022 Biometric: 09/05/2022 Visa Decision: 30/05/2022It’s a 3 years CoS, though my offer letter says it’s a 5 year contract. I used Ecctis as English language requirement and my employer ticked the maintenance section. |

Please did you have to cancel your visa before applying for the care visa? No I didn’t have to cancel. But now that I have a new visa, the former one that I had becomes invalid automatically. Home office said I should use scissors to cut my current brp and post it to them. |

CheesyTee: I switched from t4 to t2. Although, I am still waiting for the decision since I didn't pay for priority. It's been 10 weeks since biometric, moving to week 11.
I am only battling with the dissertation as we are in term 3 while working.
PS: my place of work and uni are hundreds of miles apart. Na wa for ds delay ooo. It’s 15 working days ( 3 weeks) for me today since biometrics and I’m thinking visa should be out by now. T4 dependant to T2 |
