specialenvoy: Passed my theory test today on the first attempt. Practised with this Theory 4 in 1 app below, someone recommended it on this forum sometime back.
I used the Free Pass Guarantee option and practised the 763 theory questions and 85 hazard test videos all in 3 weeks. I highly recommend the app to anyone preparing to take their theory test.
Meanwhile, I appreciate any guide to studying for the practical driving test Glad you passed, that app na like expo For practical you can watch DGN driving school and Ashley neal on YouTube. I have taken 6 driving lessons, I have four left. I have booked for the practical test (manual) already sef, God help me on that day oooo cos their driving for here different from naija ooo. I bought a car in my 4th month here, so I’m using that to practice the style of driving here as well. DeeOneBangin: There is an app called 4 in 1 Theory test. You can find it in your App store, it costs £5. I practiced with it for about 3 weeks and I passed the test at one sitting. |

icon8: But you didn’t tell us that part before, did you?
That’s the exact point we were making. Yours is an exception (if it indeed happened), not the norm. A lot of mistakes happen due to laziness, high workload, and an array of other reasons. That it happened to you and a few others does not make it the norm, it often comes at a great cost when you have to refund the taxman from the money you have already spent the previous year. The fact is that tax is applied cumulatively from the first pay cycle (week or month - 1/52 or 1/12 as the case may be), not until after you have earned your full allowance for that tax year.
So, to answer the OP’s question again, tax is due for payment from the first wage/salary and their employer was right to have deducted and remitted their tax to HMRC from the first salary. This has nothing to do with tax code or gross earnings.
Waiting for the next person to quote me with the dictionary definition of tax code as if we are children that needed to be schooled Noted! |

wonlasewonimi: Don't worry you will pay the tax back. They will create a tax code to claw back any tax you didnt pay. You might not even realise they are doing it. My good friend just paid back about £6k Everybody knows HMRC will collect every dime owed to the last penny, nobody is disputing that. But the fact remains that I didn’t get taxed till about 5-6 months (only NI deduction was reflected on payslip, income tax was always 0.00) and I know a couple of newly arrived that this has happened to. How that happened, I don’t know. And instead of someone just completely knocking off erico2k2 which I feel he is correct because it kinda applied to me. And las las I got a letter saying i owed £138

Viruses: No thank am o. His explanation is wrong even though he sounded confident.
Tax allowance = 12k plus Annual salary = 24k (assumption) Monthly salary = 2k. Taxable income = 12k (i.e 24k -12k)
You will be taxed monthly throughout the tax cycle (i.e one year). Meaning instead of paying tax on 2k monthly, you will be paying tax on 1k monthly. If your salary is less than the tax allowance (i.e 12k plus), you won't pay tax at all.
His explanation is you won't be taxed for the first 6 months till you have earned above 12k and that is wrong. Someone gave a clear explanation and you just knocked it off by saying he is wrong. To dey drop opinion for nairaland sef don dey fear person. Public forum oooooh!!! FYI, I didn’t get taxed until after about 5-6 months in the uk and I was earning like 2k monthly. My only deduction was NI. |

bakol: Dear Colleagues,
Please, does anyone here has any other idea on how to secure a 3 bedroom apartment in EXETER aside going through the zoopla, etc?
Your kind help is urgently needed.
Thank you in advance Just got an apartment in Exeter. Houses here are expensive ooo compared to Manchester where I came from. The competition too is crazy, for every house newly posted on zoopla, rightmove, open rent and all, whenever I go for viewing I will see like 4-5 other applicants like me, after like 2days they will say landlord has chosen someone else. Eventually I was able to secure one through Smart Estate Agent. Search them and check their website and probably give them a call. |

P.s I can't share the company because of privacy and they are no longer taking overseas Even though I’m in the UK, I still applied to over 250 companies . Took job hunting as a second job. It’s tiring but persistence is key. Just saying this to encourage some of us, it’s not easy. |

CheesyTee: Only if you're switching from a visa or applying inside the UK. No wonder. I paid £125 for biometric fee (standard application) no extra service and I’m wondering why. Thanks TomatoSauce1: After paying the visa fee, it takes you to TLS website were you book your Biometrics and pay other fees depending on the service your choose. For me I chose VI and self service and I paid £55 with my Naira visa card.
This is for those in Nigeria. Thanks. |

Please if I'm going to the UK via the HCA route and won't need to pay the IHS surcharge, will my dependants [spouse and kids] have to pay the IHS surcharge? Also will their visa costs be halved just like mine or will they pay the full fee? They won’t pay ihs fee. They also pay the subsidised visa fee |

So it means I can apply to schools as single and while processing visa, I can state that I am married (I will be married by then) and it won't affect anything?. It’s not going to affect anything. So long you have evidence such as marriage certificate and few pictures or chats from a few years back. You want to prove to the eco that the relationship may have been going on for a while before getting married. Others can jump on this to assist the Op. |

Teetoh29: Good evening, Please I need clarification on something. My fiancé and I want to relocate to uk via study visa. He's the sponsor and the dependent, we intend to get married (registry) after I get the admission offer but before visa application as we want to leave together.
My question now is won't they think we got married because of the relocation
And is there a better way to go about it You can get married at any time. Just prove that the marriage is genuine and subsisting. |

No fixed price on Police certificate as those police officers use it to enrich their pockets. It’s all about your bargaining power.
Did it 5k at Alagbon when I left naija last year even though I still no use am.
So I reckon you start bargaining from 5k……
You get it in less than 30mins |

And before you ask, yes I know someone over there who couldn't use his Nigerian liscense. Except if you somehow never go through a police check, you'll need an international license That person that you know that lives here is not ready to drive. |
