DrAda: And by some people, you mean me? Lol. I am rather in a good mood today, so I won't break my mood protocol. Do have a blessed new year. Hope your attitude changes next year to respect the opinion of others.
+ It's a general thing for some categories of people - facts dont matter to the formation of opinions. Logically -
1. If indeed it was a blown out tire, would you still insist its Nigeria's fault? 2. The video clearly shows the truck parked off the road, not on the road. And yet you say that is irrelevant to you view that the accident was caused by the parked truck. Who reasons like that?
This has to be carefully read. Section 228 of the Criminal Code reads -
"Any person who, with intent to procure miscarriage of a woman whether she is or is not with child, unlawfully administers to her or causes her to take any poison or other noxious thing, or uses any force of any kind, or uses any other means whatever, is guilty of a felony, and is liable to imprisonment for fourteen years."
DrAda: Hmmmm. Tell you what, let's agree to disagree. You go on thinking the driver led to the foreign national's demise while I stick to my convictions that this nation failed Anthony.
+ It emerges that the truck was not even on the road but parked off to the side.
hatchy: Thank God for scientistific discoveries because they would have tied the even down to their gods being angry because one or two person did some evil that it would require cleasing with 100 human heads.
Same thing was happening years back when Nigerians didn't know that Generator fumes, which contains Carbon dioxide emissions kills. There was a typical case in Aba where many people died in a Cyber Cafe in those days of Night browsing and the Generator used to power the place was placed inside the business center. The next morning the place was destroyed by angry citizens who believed that the owner of the business have used all of the dead for money rituals.
A big thank you to the Oyinbo people who opened our eyes if not we would still be living life some how.
+ The same oyibo people who were burning women enmasse as witches barely three hundred years ago.
The same oyibo people who dashed you worse myths and legends dressed as superior religion.
The same oyibo people who have taught people like you to hate your ancestors and your history and to feel inferior?
LordReed: And there it is, the god plug. It's a mystery therefore god. Why can't a mystery just be a mystery, a puzzle to be solved, why does it need to be tied to a god? None of the the mysteries we've solved have ever produced any god behind it, why would this one be different?
+ It's also amazing how when something good happens people attribute it to God but when bad things occur suddenly their God is nowhere to be found. It is the work of the devil or enemies in the village.
SpaceX: Airports under tinubu supervision will never make the list, anything tinubu touches turns bad
+
immortalcrown: Giant of Africa is not on the list. A failed giant.
oloriooko: Fair enough Tinubu has given our international airports a good facelift as opposed to what he met but may not be to the standard of the ones mentioned in the post, so kudos to him for this
emmabest2000: Lol you no go see 9ja name on this kind of list
+ I am hopeful the new Lagos airport when renovated will be among the best.
Kukutente23: It seems you're getting obsessed with me
Not healthy
Examine yourself
You flippantly jumped on a conversation that was none of your business and when you were shown your backside by the lady, you're calling me to come and learn from you how to make a fool of myself and apologise afterwards.
Where's the sense in this?
+ Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! Ever the comedian.
SixSeven: That's your piece of cake. Bothers me not. Next time, ignore the ignorance of whoever you deem unfit to exchange with you.
A wise man can learn from a fouuolish question, but a fuuuool cannot learn from a wise answer because it is easier to fuuuol people than to convince them they have been fouuuoled.
+ A limited, narrow mind is not worth discussing with.
SixSeven: Euthanasia will never be African because it goes against the African soul, which holds life as sacred and belonging to the community, the ancestors, and God not to individual choice.
A practice that intentionally ends life contradicts our spiritual and moral foundation, so it can never truly belong to us. I know about it and it is alien to us. Don't let the West indoctrinate you with foreign ungodly concepts. I hope you know they are assisting children now to take their lives.
Jolene in my picture was in the news and the US guys said they were going to raise money to treat her for FREE, yet she still wanted to take her life. We don't do that here please.
+ You know nothing, Jon Snow. I will not get into this subject with any closed minded person.
LordReed: May you never suffer what some of these people suffer because then you will understand that the struggle goes beyond finding a solution to external challenges. Do you think Robin Williams didn't overcome all the external challenges that came his way? Yet he faced a battle you will never understand if you don't suffer from the same or similar ailment. An ailment where you own body is fighting you every step of the way and not even in a way you can properly articulate to someone who is not suffering it.
SixSeven: Someone was thinking I was heartless to be hard on this person, that I don't know the battles, I don't know the things this person is going through, I don't know this and that and I said part of being a man is surviving trials of this world. I told the person to give me an alternative to willingly participating in your own death and the person could not. And then I said, finding solution is a much better part to taking your life. No matter what. I stand by my words. Life is tough. It will break you but sometimes I think Nigeria's law or punishment for attempting suicide is more of a logical one than the punishment itself. Nigeria's law is telling you, if you want to do it, just do it and go, make sure you do it.
You don't know the pain you cause those living when you selfishly consider yourself only. You're not living for yourself alone if you don't know. Especially when you have influence. I prefer you take more steps to help live than take the easy step to press the end button when you know we will all leave this world unalive!
Then like those boys who shoot in US, you now write a manifesto letter on your death. For what? Just go silently and don't disturb the world if you wanted us to not worry about you. It would have been easier for the loved ones to lie to us and tell us he died in his sleep. I am so disappointed and I have no nice words to say. This is where we have raised this generation to mental health everything. Spiritually ungrounded, digitally prosperous. Perhaps one day, we will realise our true reason for living. A person is a person because of another person (Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu”: a person is a person because of other people). We will remember our purpose on earth, stay grounded and keep serving others because service to humanity is the price you pay for earth. Fall seven times, rise up 8th.
+ Shallow. You dont know anything about life. Go and study the principles behind Euthanasia.
That said, everyone is perfectly entitled to decide they no longer wish to live.
ADAMUdaCOWBOY: I will not ignore your post because you did not ignore mine. You need common sense and not CCTV cameras to see how overspeeding contributed to that accident. As the roads are bad, reckless driving is a catalyst to fatal accidents.
+ For the record, I have been in an accident (I was driving) on a highway in Lagos, where my car somersaulted and ended up on the other side of the road. I came out unscathed but I learnt my lesson. Two friends were with me. No injuries to anyone. We sat down in shock by the kerb for an hour just pondering what happened.
DrAda: Hmmmm. Tell you what, let's agree to disagree. You go on thinking the driver led to the foreign national's demise while I stick to my convictions that this nation failed Anthony.
+ ENJOY.
But you are as wrong as anyone saying that the sun or the moon caused the accident.
TOPCRUISE: Well FRSC version are always debatable. If it were a politician they will keep quiet and not talk that. But if it were ordinary citizens even if the cause were clear bad portions on the road they will say driver was over speeding
+ If you saw the wreckage of that car no one will have to tell you reckless speed was involved.
DrAda: Your assumption is based on the fact that we are all careful drivers which is not the case. In developed nations, extra steps are taken to ensure the safety of everyone (including the reckless drivers). Why on earth will a stationary vehicle, and a truck for that matter, be on the highway for more than an hour?
+ Come on. So are you saying in a developed country a truck cannot be stuck there for five minutes with the same result?
And for heavens sake, the bold just shows you assume no accidents happen in developed countries!
It's easier to lay all the blame on the driver but the truth remains that this incident could have been avoided, notwithstanding the "recklessness" (yet to be proven) of the driver.
+ Nonsense. No insult intended. Reckless driving leads to accidents everywhere.
As an experienced driver of over 30 years, you must agree with me that one does not drive for himself alone but for others as well. One should anticipate and avert issues while driving and your designated "trained" road safety officers should have anticipated the same in this case.
+ Are you kidding me? Its the person driving who has to drive safely for others as well. Neither do Road safety officers appear at every one centimeter anywhere in the world.
I have sped and overtaken vehicles a good number of times on the highway, that stationary vehicle has no business being there on that road. That vehicle caused the accident and the government is complicit as well.
+ I can only take this as a joke. Make sure in future you look ahead before overtaking and please DO NOT overspeed.
Two lives now gone, condolences rendered by the president, said truck still firmly in place and you tell me this country is normal
+ I never said the country is normal, but blaming the country for the clear reckless driving of an individual is a problem.
DrAda: I have been driving for nearly 20 years. Started quite early. Another quick question, how long has the stationary trick been on the highway? Do you have that piece of information because I can predict with a high degree of probability that it has been there for at least a week
+ That info, I dont have to be honest. But my views as one who drives (for 30 years now) is simple: When overtaking, you watch carefully first to see what is ahead of you (and you never overtake around a blind curve - not that this was the case here, just saying) - there is simply no way this could happen with a normal careful driver. Severe recklessness was involved.
When I said - "in that window of time" dont you understand that even if it was there for five minutes, anyone driving that recklessly would meet the same fate?
+ Not at all good Doc. Its an inter state highway. If a truck breaks down, it may take time to be removed or even parked by the side. If anyone in that window of time is careless enough to drive with such speed while overtaking in broad day light (no fog, no rain either) and smash into it with enough velocity to destroy the vehicle at the level we saw and smash the head of one of his friends immediately into pulp, that is reckless driving.
