DrAda: Didn't know about these details and now that I do, quick question, in a sane clime, will the stationary vehicle be allowed to be in such a sensitive spot in the first place? Commone sense dictates that the FRSC would have towed the vehicle but hey what do I know + Indeed, but no where in the world does towing always happen instantly, especially on an inter state highway. |

NOETHNICITY: They don’t need to clear themselves of anything
Although I’m not Bini, but I know how these things work over there. The Oba doesn’t need to instruct his to hunt his critics. If any ordinary person in the streets of bini identifies you as someone who criticized their king, all he needs to do is to raise the alarm on you, and they will descend on you.
Unless you have evidence to show that the oba ordered his people to do what they did. + I dont think the Oba was involved. But the mere fact that they dragged him to the palace is enough for the Oba and Trad Council to distance themselves publicly. |

DrAda: That and more that I know he will face when he gets to the hospital. Let's just hope he survives as well + Emergency responses on an inter state high way anywhere in the world may be delayed. Secondly you talked about his friends. They died instantly on the spot. Emergency responses would not have saved them. Thirdly, you dont seem to have taken note that this accident was one in which they were driving at speed, overtaking and ran into a stationary vehicle. That was reckless driving and not Nigeria failing anyone. |

Thanks Jared.
Rubbish must be chased out of our land. People look up to us as educated people, they even call us 'sophisticated'. We are the pride of the black race, decency is required from our bedrooms, market places, palaces and offices.
We should not be celebrating mediocrity and take pride in it. Can you imagine King Charles of Great Britain involving himself in trivialities like these? + I agree, we must not tolerate this. But to be honest, we still dont know if the Oba or the Benin Traditional Council were involved. Nevertheless they must clear themselves. It is TOTALLY unacceptable and ALL involved MUST be arrested. |

micxwell: Can you just keep quiet please 🙏. If the truck drivers are reckless with the way they park their trucks on the road; are you supposed to drive straight into their trucks parked on the road at high speed in broad day light? Blame their reckless driving. + Thank you! Exactly. Overtaking at high speed in broad day light only to run into a stationary vehicle is clear reckless driving! |

On remote American roads, there are ambulances. + I know, my point is, on such highways, reaction is still likely to be well delayed. JakJay: Nigeria did not happen to him. Let's put the blame where it actually should be. The driver drove recklessly. Where the government should be blamed is leaving a broken down vehicle on the same spot for more than 24 hours. + Exactly. Even if we must also admit that the presence of that vehicle in itself was not the defining point. Because it could be there for even fifteen minutes and a reckless driver could run into it. Anyone who drives knows that running into a stationary vehicle at high speed while overtaking calls into question the driver and his driving. |

tgmservice: Is having stationary trucks on the highway normal? + It happens all the time everywhere in the world. If a truck breaks down, it may take some time to tow away and the accident could happen in that window. Look - two things - do you drive? If you do, you surely know that to run into a stationary vehicle in broad day light while overtaking at speed, there must be an element of serious reckless driving. |

Well, sad as it is, let us bear in mind that that was an inter-state high way and along such high ways you cannot really expect the same emergency reaction you would expect within an urban area. Even in a developed country such as the US there are interstate highways where emergency reaction will be well delayed.
