Who asked you for the definition of VAT or who pays VAT? The question was who was remitting VAT and I made clear to you that it is the producer that remits VAT in Nigeria not the seller. It's a sales tax that should ordinarily be collected at the point of sale not production.

What is even funnier is your rubbish claim about being a commercial lawyer when you're unaware that even the courts agreed that VAT ought to be a state tax due to the construction of our laws, in other words, it ought to be collected in the state eye consumption took place. Normally, VAT is supposed to be paid on each goods bought by the consumer. In other words, VAT should be remitted periodically based on actual sales and where the sales occurred
In Nigeria, VAT of most goods and services is calculated and remitted by the producing firm. In other words, if MTN prints 100 recharge cards of 1000 naira, to be sent to a dealer in Kano, the VAT of 7500 naira is paid by MTN in Lagos on the 100 recharge card irrespective of the fact that it is to be consumed in Kano and the 100 cards may not even be fully consumed that month.
It's even worse when you consider some goods whose raw materials are locally sourced. The VAT is paid by the company consuming it who still pay the VAT of the finished goods to be consumed.

In short, the Consumer is the payer of VAT. And he/ she pays it at the point of consumption when billed.

VAT is not paid at the point of production of jack. Contrary to what you ignorantly say. If that was the case, then just go ahead and produce anything be it rice or beer and start collecting VAT and remitting it without anyone consuming either those goods or the service.

It is always collected from the Consumer, as it is a consumption tax. It is then remitted to the government by those who have collected it from the point of consumption. Perhaps this is your confusion. If so, not a problem, just understand that when you receive goods or a service (or even food at a restaurant) and you see VAT there, you are paying it, and it is being collected from YOU as the consumer, at that point of consumption. So that is clear, VAT is collected from consumers of goods and services at the point of consumption, when they pay for same. Those who collect it, have an obligation to remit same to the tax authorities.

Because the financial power dynamic still rests generally with men. As it gradually changes, all that will change too.
Dont forget that men hold/ held that power on account of sheer brawn in the past. Namely that physical strength was required to make money/ gather resources for much of history. However things have changed - now its intellectual strength which evens the battlefield, but because of where history has brought us, it will still take time to even the battlefield completely.

There will still be areas of inequality though - the mere fact that we do not menstruate or suffer menopause creates a biological difference to be sure.
