So I guess we should "George" him. enemyofprogress: both of them are correct. One is British English, while the other one is American English, I chose to use the American English which is my mother tongue. : ZombieDredd: Taaaa
its not proper to use "George" in reference to act of judgement.
What are you telling me?
judge is a doing verb, while George is a noun and name of person.

3kay945: To your beliefs, your tent. : That teaching is not unique to the Grail message; indeed many ancient schools of thought especially Eastern religions like Hinduism have taught same for millenia long long long before the Grail Message. Karma, and the placement of souls, previous lives, next lives, etc. Nevertheless you must spare a thought for the consideration that all these may just be humanity's attempt to explain away the unexplainable and to justify what appears unjust and unfair. Because we desperately need a sense of equity, a sense of meaning and a sense of justice. What if that sense is meaningless to an impersonal universe? Spare the thought, just spare the thought. Not saying there isnt karma, but just spare the thought that it might be human imagination to help us sleep at night. |

BENEAMATA: dude , stick to your irrational hate of Tinubu and leave history for the scholars , and I'm not saying I'm one to lecture you on history but, bad things don't stay the same if left unattended to, no, they get worse . So what I'm saying is things are getting worse under Tinubu who is trying to stem the rot because it got bad from your clueless Jonathan who, rumour had it made more than one far reaching decision under the influence . Cue armed bandits causing cash crop prices to rise astronomically as Northern farmers fear for their lives - and all because some presidrunk who ruled before any APC president chose to be half - assed about the growing menace of Boko haram. Now the terrorism menace is hydra headed . Worse out grows bad any day . So now you reel out how good we were having it in the Oga jona era, but then for someone who " feeds " on history, why do I even pretend to be shocked that what you wish on Nigerians is a Millitary coup because of unhibited hatred for one president . A child of history want to take us back to the glorious days of the likes of IBB and the $12 billion unaccounted for gulf War oil windfall or the patriotic Abacha and our looted common wealth still being discovered /returned in batches till today . And then armchair economist wondered why the dollar appreciated from $1 to 75kobo at some point in 1983 to $1 - 22 naira by the time the khaki boys left in 1999 . Again , a rot left to fester, grows worse . Never wish for barrack boys to take this country again like they once did . : If you think BAT has not / will not siphon more than that $12 Billion from this country, you are a learner. |

Kukutente23: Domestic abuse is actually allowed in the Qur'an If you check now, the thing has touched close to home that's why Gumi is fuming and revising Islamic law If not, no how will he ever think of a particular case in which he thinks Islamic law shouldn't hold The Quran actually recommends wife beating. Surah 4:34: "As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (Next), refuse to share their beds, (And last) strike them (lightly); but if they return to obedience, seek not against them Means (of annoyance): For Allah is Most High, great (above you all)." |

Kukutente23: Tinubu is luckier than Buhari Nigeria has had very healthy harvest this year Oil price though below the budget benchmark is at over 100% above Buhari's at this time of his administration Nigerians have swallowed the bitter pills of his reforms with a lame whimper But unfortunately, he's not doing better than Buhari in improving the living condition of Nigerians I wonder what next year will look like when the excess food in circulation dries up especially in January. Nigerians should brace up for rise in foodstuff prices then If the tax laws then happen as its being bandied, that will be a double jeopardy Nigerians should be wary of next year What is obvious is that BAT is not depending on popularity to win the next election. |

Prof. Soyinka is a national and international icon... Nobel Laurettes are not a dime or penny a dozen.

As for his support for Tinubu and APC, that's his complete right as a private citizen...!
Y'all should stop being silly abeg. Tinubu is his personal friend thats all. Its a little bit of a pity because more was expected from someone of his stature. He even promised to assess the govt after 1 year in office and went silent on that too. Nevertheless he is indeed a great icon, and will forever be cherished and respected. GloriousGbola: You can't really predict how privileged people will react when faced with adversity through. That's why the brits have a stiff upper lip.
And the problem with poverty is that it can fk people's minds up and keep them in a permanent poverty mentality state. The kind of person who insists on managing a dead car that keeps breaking down rather than replace it. The mentality that celebrates saving money over improving productivity and efficiency. A mind that sees money as an object to be hoarded rather than utilizied Very true and well said. Poverty of the mind is a bigger cancer and is the real poverty. |

GloriousGbola: While we will all likely face hard or difficult times, it does not mean we should celebrate poverty
Sharing a room meant for 8 people with 24 people of wildly different backgrounds and mentalities only teaches you that you don't want to experience that again. Or going to shiit in the bush. Or the school Gen being down and everyone reading with candle or torch. Or having to fetch water by hand. All these make for great stories but they do not add any value to your life. Oh don't get me wrong I will be the last person to celebrate poverty. Nonetheless I know for a fact that it takes a little fire to burnish gold and some trials in life are truly worth it. This is not to say the rich don't have trials, they do. However in the context of the examples used by the person I was discussing with, I doubt it's apt to use the ultra privileged as examples when talking about the benefits of experience within a public university. I doubt that very very much. A muscle not used cannot grow and many things in life are learnt by the toughening of skin. There are too many proverbs which testify to the value of certain hardships in teaching valuable life lessons. That shining privileged kid will keep doing well, but mostly because he or she is not likely to ever face a true challenge. |
